Eddie Brock It's the nicest day yet this Spring in New York. A few people are out in shorts and t-shirts, and people are sunning themselves in Central Park and over on the campus of ESU. Prime people-watching weather.

Eddie Brock isn't people watching at the moment, though he is on his way to kind of do that. Just one particular person. He picked up a couple of days at a construction site and worked overnight, so he missed Gwen that morning before she went out. After having caught enough sleep to be semi-functional, Eddie did the laundry and showered, then put on something fresh out of the dryer. The two chickens, Sonny and Cher, which he'd let into the apartment while he slept, go back up on the roof. "Sorry you guys. You only get a couple of hours at a time in the house," he reminds them.

Then down to the street and heading down to the corner, hoping he can catch Gwen there before her shift at the corner store ends. Eddie's wearing a black t-shirt that is just the right amount of snug on his muscular torso, and wearing a pair of dark jeans and boots. He's also having a good hair day. What a beautiful day.
Gwen Stacy It's the nicest day yet the Spring in New York. At least for some! Because for others it's time to clean some mess made during Easter by some no-good thugs. They don't even respect holidays no more... And who gets to do the clean up? Gwen Stacy, of course. With the helpful supervision of Mrs. Wong.

"You missed that spot there."

So keen eyed that Mrs. Wong is, much to Gwen's chagrin who goes to broom it up, the sound of broken glass heard as she puts into a container. Eddie's arrival shows there's a new window on the shop and Mrs. Wong greets him with a, "Eddie, do you see what this neighborhood is coming to? Hooligans out on the street during Easter!" to which Gwen chimes in from inside, "Aren't hooligans related to soccer?" which just receives a shrug back from Wong, then Gwen's blonde head popping out the door to greet Eddie with a soft smile.

"There you are. Seems like we missed all the excitement, even if we are to pick up the consequences.." she lets out a sigh, then Mrs. Wong continuing. "Yes, if it wasn't for that Ghost Spider who knows what would had happened to my shop! I see her around so often, wonder if she lives around here..."

Gwen coughs into her hand and then asks Eddie, "What brings you to this fine establishment today, gentleman?"
Eddie Brock Eddie greets Mrs. Wong first, not just because she was the first to notice him, but because he's always trying to stay on her good side. She didn't actually tell Eddie that she has some kind of ancient Chinese curse ready to level on him if he hurts Gwen. But he's settled in on that being the source of her sometimes pleased, slightly stern looking smile she gives him.

"Hey Mrs. W. You're looking beautiful today. Sunshine really brings out the flowers," he says with a cheeky grin that signals he's not even trying to hide the attempt at flattery. "Sorry I wasn't around to help. Though, good if one of the capes was," he says. "She seems like a pretty tough one too," he says, a hand rubbing at his jaw briefly.

"Gwen," Eddie says as the blonde's lovely face sticks outside the door. His grin may not go ear to ear at the sight of her, but a calm and contentment register on his face, and there's extra warmth in his eyes. "Was sorry I didn't get to see you off this morning. Came by to walk you to your afternoon class when you're ready," he says. Which draws a begrudging look of approval from Mrs. Wong.

The elderly, but spry Chinese woman motions towards the new window and says, "With people doing things like this, you should make sure she's ok."

Eddie smiles from Mrs. Wong back to Gwen. "Well, she's pretty good at taking care of herself. But yeah, I'll do so much as she lets me," he says.
Gwen Stacy It may be obvious flattery but Mrs. Wong almost preens at that, hand up on her hair to adjust it, like a flower turning it's petals to the sun! Yet after Eddie mentions the afternoon class she says, "Well, that's enough of that cleaning then.." she gesturing with her hands and gently taking the broom away from Gwen's hands. "And off you go, I will handle rest."

Mention college and it means Mrs. Wong is all ready to send Gwen on her way, which Gwen doesn't correct by saying it will still be a while until the afternoon class. Because hey, getting off work early? Fine with her, "Sure you are going to be okay, Mrs. Wong?" "Yes, yes. Go take walk. It's finest day of Spring today too." See? She noticed!

Gwen grins briefly and then goes to get her pack from inside, along with a light jacket, coming back out and giving Eddie a brief hug, "Well, seems we get the rest of the morning for ourselves." she tells him, "Let's go."
Eddie Brock Eddie Brock slips his arms around Gwen to return the hug, letting her despite the desire to just hold her in his arms for a long time. It's never a good idea to show too much PDA in front of Mrs. Wong. Plus if they tarry she might question the timing of the class. "Thanks Mrs. W," Eddie tells her as he slips his arm gently around Gwen and starts walking with her in the direction of the nearby campus.

"Figured there's probably time for a coffee," he suggests. "Finished up the job at the construction site. Was hoping they might extend it, but got them caught back up to their schedule and they didn't have extra budget to spare for now," he says. "But, a few extra dollars, enough for a treat," he suggests, "On me."

Once they are further away from the store, Eddie nuzzles a soft kiss to the top of Gwen's head. "So what'd she say happened with the window? Did they go after the store, or just kind of got caught in the events?" he asks curiously.
Gwen Stacy Too much PDA is what may just get the ancient curse coming sooner than later. So Eddie is wise by showing restraint, Mrs. Wong watching them walk away down the street before eventually veering back into the shop to continue the clean-up. Gwen is taking a peek occasionally over her shoulder and it's when she goes back in that she grins, "The eye of Sauron has gone back inside." she jests.

Nerd!

She reaches up to place a kiss on Eddie's chin, "Well, if I am able to land that internship on Oscorp it might be on me next time." she tells him, "Hopefully I will be accepted in, I feel like I know the place already, it would be a great fit." and she does know the place! Even if it's a place from another universe...

"And well, apparently they were caught in the middle of a gang fight." She explains, "Mrs. Wong was a bit scarce on details, but only learned about it this morning. Apparently Ghost Spider was around so ..., things weren't as bad." she reaches up to draw a loose strand of blonde hair behind a ear, blue eyes up on Eddie, "Coffee does sound great."
Eddie Brock Doing his best Sean Bean impersonation, Eddie gestures with his hand. "One does not simply -walk- into Wong's Corner Store," he replies after the scourge of Middle Earth and Greenwich Village has returned to her tower.

"They'd be crazy not to take you," Eddie confirms supportively. "You're at the top of the department. And hey, the guy's name is on the building you're learning in. That's got to count for something on top of it all, right?" he ventures. "Not like you're some poor hick from upstate Columbia coming begging for a position," he says. If he's denigrating his alma mater then he's surely buttering Gwen up.

They reach a little street-side coffee shop with a counter and window that opens to the street for taking orders there on nice days like today. Eddie and Gwen walk up. "Hey Jimmy," he says to the college kid behind the counter. They are well enough known there to be on first name basis with the people who work there. "I'll have my usual," Eddie says, which is a dark coffee with sugar. "Gwen, want your normal?" he asks.
Gwen Stacy "Yea, those Columbia upstarts got nothing on us." Gwen replies with a wink as they walk down the street, smiling radiantly as Eddie gives his support to Gwen's internship. Because inside she's feeling pretty anxious about it all! Specially as it was where she first gained her powers all those years ago. But things are different now, right? Right?

"Hello, Jimmy." she greets in unison with Eddie then offering a mmhmm at having her usual. Which is dark coffee, but with no sugar! Yin and Yang and all that. But she's always got a taste for the more sour things.

"What else do you got lined up now?" She asks, most likely about jobs, "Have you thought about going back to writing?" she asks. She's always asking about that!

Peer pressure.
Eddie Brock Eddie has yet to make a connection between Gwen's taste for sour things, and whatever led to her interest in him. Though one could probably make an argument there.

"Well," Eddie says as the coffee is served up and he pulls out a few crumpled bills to pay for it. "Nothing much. The fish market's always there. I've been trying to avoid going back to Abner for any writing work," he says, mentioning an 'editor' at a paper and website that is the lowest of tabloid fare. "I don't know, maybe I should just face the facts or... something," he says.

In the back of his head, Venom is rumbling, stirring up Eddie's feelings of injustice. They have rarely needed much to set them off, like storms blowing up out of the most treacherous parts of the ocean.

Eddie looks over at the sun-haired, beautiful young woman beside him and lets out a soft sight. It's like those storm clouds part before bright warm sunbeams. "I think I will. At least, something to get by. I don't like how much you're carrying the load for us, and while you're in school," he says, corner of his lips twitching towards a self-directed frown.

Eddie finds them a little table set outside, pulling out Gwen's chair for her before joining her. "So are you applying at a specific area of Oscorp, or just get the internship first and go from there?"
