Chas Chandler     It might be a bit of a surprise when Chas Chandler's phone number shows up on the screen of Asariel's phone. Especially considering the hour. Sure, eleven PM isn't that late for a bartender or a cab driver, but for an artist and one who rubbed elbows with the social elite... daylight hours are more of a premium to them.

"Come on... pick up... please pick up" Chas says, standing outside the Thone's Art Gallery. He's dressed in jeans that look like they could use a wash, a black tee with the words "Normal People Scare Me" in white stylized lettering on the front of it and a dark blue windbreaker over it to keep out the worst of the evening chill. A large grey duffle bag is slung over one shoulder and his phone is pressed to his ear as he stares up at the facade of the building.
Asariel Asariel was in bed, but she wasn't asleep. The white haired woman was curled up in her blankets in the dark with her laptop off to the side of the bed watching videos. It was a glamorous life! When the screen on her phone lights up and she sees the number there is a jolt of panic as her hand reaches out to grab the phone and pick it up rather quickly, "Chas? Are you alright?" she asks.

He'd probably hear the sound of her moving, trying to get untangled from the blankets. Then the light to the living room goes on, he could probably see that from outside. Proving that she's on the move as well.
Chas Chandler     "I'm fine. Up. I just... I have a favor to ask" Chas replies looking up at the building. "I'm outside your place and was wondering if I could..." He pauses. "Well, my place..." He pauses again. Why is this so hard to do? he thinks to himself. Easy. Because you're nervous. It's been four months. And sure she didn't date anyone else in that time. And sure she came with the rest of the JLD to save you. But... maybe she's moved on?

He shakes his head. "I was wondering if you would be averse to a large man from Liverpool crashing at your place? Only temporarily... if you want. I mean... I can find a new place. Just mine is sort of trashed and I'm not seeing it being rebuilt any time soon... so..." He is rambling, another sign of nerves and it doesn't take a telepath to notice that.
Asariel Asariel brings up the security cameras on her laptop as she brings it with her. And sure enough there he is, standing outside. She listens to him though as he speaks and she's already heading downstairs. Her barefeet silent on the floors as she tries to be stealthy. He probably sees her melt out of the darkness of the art gallery, white hair looking a bit mussed and her robe tied around her loosely, "Take a breath for me, no need to be nervous." she says through the phone and then she's unlocking and opening the door for the large man. "Come on in, Chas. It's a little chilly out tonight." she tells him.

"I was wondering where you were going to stay and with everything that's happened I didn't want to add to it really." she admits to him. "I don't mind a large man staying here." she smiles to him as he gets in the door. Then she moves to lock it again after he's inside.
Chas Chandler     Chas takes a deep breath as instructed and rubs the back of his neck as he enters the building. He doesn't look too different from before, but there are some obvious changes. His shoulders are a bit more broad, his midsection a bit less round, and it's possible his arms are more muscled, but it's hard to tell that last from the jacket he's wearing. He also register's differently to those attuned to magic... his resonance isn't... far from her own to be honest.

"Sorry. It's just... I'm not good at asking for help. Pheebs had me up in her place at the Curio but... I've lived in that very apartment for a good chunk of my life already and once was enough, let me tell you." He grins at her and shifts the weight of the duffle over his shoulder. "I've got some of the things I was able to salvage from the wreckage of my place but I doubt it'll be repaired anytime soon. I'm probably stepping away from that chapter in my life, anyway. So... thanks."

He shifts his posture a bit, his nerves still rattling around inside him. "I... I missed you." He chuckles. "Which sounds silly because I was literally watching you for four months." He opens his mouth. "That sounds very stalkerish... doesn't it?" he asks with a lopsided grin.
Asariel Asariel was watching him, that moon silver gaze of hers was different than the sapphire blue that she used to have. She watches him carefully and there's a soft smile, "You have nothing to apologize for. I'm sure being back on Earth might feel a bit weird and you might feel a little out of place." she tells him. Most of her 'angel' powers have waned, but she's not really mentioning it for the moment.

She listens to him, not interrupting him as he speaks. When he mentions that he's probably stepping away from that chapter of his life there is a quirk of an eyebrow, "We can talk about that upstairs." she tells him softly.

She offers him a pale hand, waiting for him to take it so she can lead him upstairs to the apartment. "I missed you as well...though given you were watching the whole time you were gone you might have seen my drunken moping a few times." she chuckles to that. "It is just a smidge stalkerish, but I don't see it like that." she states with a chuckle. "Do we need to make a list of things that you need?" she asks him. Trying to keep up small talk as they head upstairs.
Chas Chandler     Chas takes her hand without question or hesitation and follows along. His hands are still calloused and rough. The hands of someone who spent most of his life working with them in some capacity--in Chas' case it was usually in defense of himself or someone he cared for. "Probably" he says in answer. "I mean I have about three pairs of clothes to my name and one of those is a pair of PJs."

This is the only coat I have that survived the cyclone that was Michael rocketing through that destroyed the loft as well" he adds then sobers. "I did see some of the moping, yes. I... Would it be terrible of me to say I found it adorable sometimes?" he asks. "You're still attractive, even when crying and drunk. Not entirely surprising though given... well..." He doesn't want to point out her non-human nature. Even if he is in the same boat these days.

Once in the apartment proper he slips off his coat. Sure enough, his arms are more muscled than before. All that time hanging on the door of Heaven probably was a decent work-out regimen. Or maybe it's a side effect of his new form, adjusting to make him more appealing physically.
Asariel The door to the apartment had been left open given there was no one else in the building. The light shines, warm and welcoming as they approach and then enter. She closes the door behind them and locks it. Making sure that the alarm is reset.

"We'll have to take you shopping then. Unless you would care to do that on your own?" Asariel asks him as she looks to him. "We can just go on a late Christmas shopping spree. That might help." she smiles to him.

Then there's a laugh, "I mean, it's kind of adorable especially when I fall off of stuff. Though at the time I felt...so much despair." she admits. "Yeah...that whole being a creation and not really human works wonders for my jaw line." she gives a bit of a chuff to that. "And I got made to look like Michael of all people, appreciate my dads unknown sense of humor." she shakes her head.

She watches him slip off the coat and there's a bit of a note taken, his body had changed. "Are you hungry? I could cook something or there's a little pizza shop down the street that's open until one or two." she offers as she steps closer to him.
Chas Chandler     "I wouldn't mind having a second set of eyes for clothes" Chas replies with a smile. It sobers quickly when she offers getting food. "I... don't need to eat..." Chas replies. "Or drink. Or sleep. Or breathe even... if Phoebe's theory is right." He sounds a bit numb. "I'm... well... not entirely like you. Not a creation of an angel. But... I'm pretty much the closest you can get to being one without being one."

He chuckles weakly. "Part of being a doorman for God means you get remade into one of his first kids I guess." He gives her a more direct look. His eyes more blue than they ever were before he was taken. "I... I hope that's alright? I'm still me... at least, I'm pretty sure I am. But I have... well, I don't even know the extent. Phoebe said I'm on par with some of the higher levels of the Hosts in terms of power. But... I don't even know where to start in exercising or testing that."
Asariel "I'd be happy to take you shopping." Asariel tells him as she watches him. Though his sobering makes her chest tighten for a moment as she listens to him. "Phoebe's theory is probably right to be honest. We could go look through the library to kind of cement things...but she knows her stuff." she tells him.

She reaches out to take one of his hands, "Why would it not be alright?" she asks him. "I'm sure there are a lot of things that we'll need to get used to again, like changes. You've been through a very big...and in some ways, very traumatic experience. It's going to take some time to readjust." she tells him softly.

"And I am absolutely not calling you 'Uncle' Chas." she teases him. No, they were not related in any way. Thankfully. "We just have to start small with seeing what all you can do." she nods to that. "Have you talked to your littlest?" she asks him with a smile.
Chas Chandler     Chas nods. "Called her before I came here. Renee didn't even tell her I was missing... which figures..." he makes a face of disgruntled disapproval. "She enjoyed getting a call from her Dad, but otherwise was confused as to why Daddy was crying on the phone. I told her I just missed her and told her I was going to go bed."

He chuckles at the rest of her statements. "I don't know... I just didn't know if you were okay dating well... I wasn't entirely human before. So many magical enchantments on my person." He tugs at his shift, revealing the strange swirling tattoo still there. "I still have this one, but the spirits inside... looks like The Presence claimed them as part of the payment for the change into what I am now."

At the sentiments of "Uncle" his eyes widen. "God no... I'm not... I'm not like entirely one of them. I have free will. I can make my own decisions based on what -I- want. I'm human in that respect. There is no... governing purpose to what I do. I just... have the same physiology as one of them... I think." He shakes his head. "Like I said, the normal human faculties don't really apply anymore. Even sighing is a conscious effort now. Which is a bitch..."
Asariel Asariel gives a soft smile, "I tried to keep up with facetiming her and things. I wish I could have done more for the girls while you were away." she admits. She felt guilty that she didn't do more.

She does give him a chuckle, "Well, I thought you were entirely human. I didn't know about the...other things." she admits. "I actually still don't know what that enchantment was." she states as she looks up to him. "I honestly had thought that you had died...but those extra souls kept popping out." she explains. "I'm not sure why that would make a difference either way." she adds.

"Free will is good to have, Chas." she nods to him. "So you aren't entirely an angel...but you've got most if not all of the benefits." she states quietly. "Can you do magic?" she asks him. "Like...the holy stuff?" she asks. "Do you want to unpack? I can clear out space in my closet tomorrow unless you'd like to have your own dressers and things, we can put stuff in the guest room." she offers.
Chas Chandler     Chas gives Asariel a beaming smile. "And I'm grateful for that... really, truly" he says. "The connection you have with her and what Phoebe did for her... I can't ever repay either of you back for it." He reaches out and places a hand on the woman's arm. "Thank you."

He drops the touch and frowns. "What John did for me was... complcated. Forty-seven dead people in line to take my place if I died" he says. "It wasn't the most... beneavolent spell. But it's John... benevolence isn't exactly his strong suit." He shrugs. "But it's done now. This one... they kept in place. Mental ward. I suspect that I'm as suceptible to mental intrusion as I was before even with the change in 'home plane.'"

He frowns at her questions. "I'm not sure what I can do. Like I said, Pheebs said I'm like a holy battery at full charge... but doing anything with it..." he shakes his head. "I wouldn't know where to start and I don't know if I want to start tonight." He lets out a forced breath. "I think unpacking would be a good start and I can put my stuff in the guest bedroom. I wouldn't want you to have to make room, even if it was only three outfits." He pauses and his cheeks redden somewhat. "I... suppose I'd be sleeping in there too. I didn't want to assume or... or anything..." He clears his throat. Damn, it's been a while for the man.
Asariel "You don't have to repay me for anything. I figured that my boyfriend being stuck in heaven and his kids being stuck here without him was enough of a stress that they'd need someone to talk to...even if little didn't told." she admits. "You're welcome." she adds.

When he drops the touch she gives a look to him and then she listens to what he explains, "We'll see if we can keep people from intruding." she makes a mental note of that herself. Because someone digging in his brain was bad business.

"Baby steps with it. No reason to go running at it full speed ahead. You just got home and well...you deserve to have some happiness...and Christmas at least." she points out. When he blushes about assuming he'd be sleeping in the guest room there is a look to him, her eyes lidding just a little, "I mean...if you feel more comfortable sleeping apart for now we can do that. I wouldn't be opposed to you being next to me when I wake up." she tells him truthfully. She then gives an impish smile to him before she closes the distance between them, pale hands reaching for his shirt to tug him down just a bit so that she can kiss him for the first time in months. It might start slow and warm...but it grows heated soon after that.
Chas Chandler     Chas' continues to blush (it seems his circulatory system remains intact--or perhaps it's just an artifact of the emotion) as he contemplates her offer. "I didn't want--" He is cut off by her tug and subsequent kiss.

#-1 ARGUMENT OUT OF RANGE has been a very, -very- long time since Chas has felt intimacy of any sort. Hugs from family are vastly different than the embrace of a romantic interest and the Hosts of Heaven aren't the most touchy-feely with mortals; especially ones who are more door than man. The kiss, at least on Chas' end is somewhat clumsy to start. His body conforms to the height differential between the pair of them easily enough, but even still he's tentative in his exploration of the act.

When her side of the kiss grows in intensity, he matches the pace, wrapping his arms around the slender woman and lifting her from the ground easily enough. One hand cups the small of her back, the other the back of her head as he lingers in the kiss, exploring the rush of sensations from the endorphins that course through him. When they finally disengage he is glowling. Literally. Soft golden light emits from his form for a moment before fading back to normalcy as he stumbles out the rest of the statement. "--to assume." He licks his lips. "But... if you truly don't mind. I..." he grins and chuckles. "I think I'd like to wake up next to you, as well."
Asariel Asariel didn't mean to cut him off, but given the time he'd spent in Heaven and having him here in the flesh was a bit on the overwhelming side. The little weasel brain said kiss the big gorgeous man! She lets her hands slide from his shirt, reaching to cup his face as she is lifted by him. The light that eminates from him is not unnoticed, but she doesn't feel that it is a danger either.

"You're positively glowing, Chas." she whispers softly as she looks to him. Yes, it's a joke. It's supposed to help lighten the mood!

She takes a moment to let her fingers brush his hair back from his face, "I don't mind sharing the bed at all. It might help to have someone in the night if you need something as well." she smiles to that. "Apologies for umm...the barbaric kiss there, I just..." she blushes, "I love you." she whispers to him as she presses her forehead to his.
Chas Chandler     The luminous reaction is not missed by the man himself and he chuckles again. "I am... or was... wasn't I?" he says, as the chuckle fades to a smile. "It's alright. I didn't mind at all. And you make a solid point... given... well, who knows what my dreams will be like... or if I dream at all." He shrugs, not seeming to mind the extra weight of carrying the woman.

Her words of the most intense of affections make him go still. Completely still. Inhumanly still. He contemplates the words. They're more than significant. They're binding. His mind races with the meaning in them and his own emotions toward the woman before him. "I love you, too" he says. And he realizes he does. Truly. Wholly. And intensely.

He held out for a number of people. Determined to sustain his penance long enough to come back to them. To the people he loved. And one of those people... is this woman. "I love you, Asariel." He shifts to place a more gentle, if equally affectionate kiss on her mouth before easily moving her to a craddling carry. "Let's get you back to bed and we can see how well I fit?" he suggests, making his way towards the sectioned off bedroom.
