Kate Kane Kate's doing her best not to stand out in the coffee shop, though she can't help but feel like she's failing terribly, with her short cropped dark red hair standing in stark contrast to the truly outrageously 80s volume the baristas and other employees are rocking, or the whole... aerobics exercise video come to life /vibe/ in general. But this place came up first on her search for 'NYC Coffee shop' when she was trying to come up with a place to meet Kori after exchanging messages. And so Kate lurks at a corner table and cradles a coffee in a sizable neon green paper cup, sipping at it and just generally trying not to spring out of her seat with nervous energy.

Pulling that classic Bat-trained disappearing act would be such a relief, but she promised herself she wouldn't chicken out of the arranged coffee meeting with Kori, and... well, _any_ coffee shop was going to get her feeling like this. But suggesting a thermos of instant coffee on a rain-soaked rooftop overlooking some warehouse full of shady activity?

Kate has come to accept that her typical coffee consumption routine is in fact _not_ suitable for socializing, especially in her civilian identity. And so she taps a motorcycle boot along to the rhythm of the Nu Wave music filling the air and keeps an eye on the door, every time it chimes tensing and preparing to lift her hand not holding her coffee in a wave. So far she hasn't accidentally waved at anyone who's not a gorgeous alien space princess. So she's doing alright.
Koriand'r At least, Kori and 'standard' or typical wasn't particularly intermingled all that often. Eventually she'd arrive, but at least this time she'd made come to her meeting with civillian clothing rather than costume, the miniskirt and top working a little better than some of her swimsuit-like choices or indeed the outfit that Kate had met her in previously. Wrapped in her civillian outfit and with those glowing locks hanging free, the orange-skinned Princess pushed her way through the door, those green eyes scanning the crowd to try and spot the Kane heiress before she settles on Kate and lifts a hand in greeting, probably earning an eye or two from any of the otehr patrons to see who exactly the obvious non-human was meeting!
Kate Kane Kate's eyebrows perk slightly as Kori enters, her fingers gripping her paper cup a little tighter, other hand lifting in the best casual little 'Hey, over here' wrist-flick of a wave for a tall, stunning model and literal alien royalty. And it's not like a miniskirt and top don't flatter her. Which makes sense, Kate figures. Model and all. Her lips quirk in a grin before she takes a sip of her coffee... her throat's feeling a little dry. Must be allergies, surely.

"Hey! You made it! Always a risk in this city, right? I mean, you never know when crazed robots or... uhh... something else is going to wreck the traffic."

Sure, she's painfully aware Kori can fly, and also is fully capable of causing traffic jams now that she thinks about it... but Kate's not exactly used to small talk.

No, no, she can do this... it's just like leaping off a rooftop. She does _that_ all the time, coffee isn't any more difficult than that.
Koriand'r "I do not drive," Kori offers lightly as she settles down into the booth, but there's no malice in her comment. "But a crazed robot would delay me. Still, I did promise you I would be here, so I am glad I made it."

Settling down, there was a little moment where she leaned forwards, awaiting the serving staff to address her...or maybe she was supposed to go to the counter. She'd work it out eventually! Instead she makes to lean her head atop her hand with a little shrug of her shoulders. "I hope that the rest of your inspection went well, after our meeting. Did you enjoy watching my shoot?"
Kate Kane Kate's pale cheeks flush faintly, and she nods her head with a crooked grin, almost self-conscious, "Yeah, I guess once you can fly under your own power, driving's not really worth the hassle... I mean, as someone who /can't/ fly, and enjoys driving, it's not really fun in the city." She chews her lower lip thoughtfully and glances about... only to nearly let out an involuntary bark of laughter at the sight of a few baristas huddled over by the counter, clearly trying to decide who should approach the alien princess... Kate can't help but wonder if they're trying to avoid it out of nervousness, or arguing about getting to be the one to approach.

Her bright eyes track back to Kori, one eyebrow lifting as she murmurs out, "Oh! It went uneventfully. All the numbers checked out, there were a few undotted i's and crossed t's to handle for some of the boring accounting. Nothing suspicious." She lets out a low, thoughtful noise, "Kori... it was absolutely the highlight of my week. You really are a natural model."

Kate takes another sip of her coffee, other hand subtly gesturing towards the baristas to try and encourage one of them to approach so Kori can place an order.

She smiles a little brighter, eyebrows perking up, "I can't say I've tried mustard on pizza again since then. But it was really a very nice day."
Koriand'r "We can correct that today!" Kori offers excitably, a little grin given before she straightens up, less of the natural eyeful given as she relaxes and apparently giving little thought to the baristas at the moment as her luminescent green eyes were focused entirely on the redhead before her. "Many of the best days are days with Pizza and mustard." That grin remaining, Koriand'r brings her hands together excitedly. "Perhaps we could fly there together, if you are not opposed to me carrying you again. Not everyone is comfortable with it though, so if you prefer the driving...I could ride with you?"
Kate Kane Kate laughs softly and struggles not to /openly/ admire what view is given... though she's got a feeling Kori's beyond used to the attention from modeling and heroic pursuits. She hums softly, tilting her head and lifting her eyebrows in playful mock thought, "Well, I'm not going to deny a chance to spend time with you, Kori! And I'm definitely not above accepting a flight." She clicks her tongue and smiles lopsidedly, "But maybe I can take you for a drive sometime. Somewhere other than Manhattan, I mean, even without the traffic it's just a giant grid of straight lines, that's pretty boring. I usually go driving outside Gotham, I've got a little getaway in the middle of nowhere, a lot more curves and hills and valleys to the roads."
Koriand'r The little offer of driving earns a nod, Kori herself turning to face the baristas for a moment and smiling. "Hello!" she greets, tilting her head to the side. "May I please have the heated chocolate and marshmellows?" It probably wasn't how she was supposed to order, but with all the staring, that must be what they were waiting for, right?

"I have not spent so much time in Gotham City. The Batman isn't as fond of outsiders in 'his city', so unless there is the need I tend to stay away. Of course, I'll happily brave it to go for the drive and spend that time with you."

A blink, the Tamaranian princess grins. "A getaway?"
Kate Kane Kate bites her lower lip /tightly/ to fight off a grin as the trio of baristas practically leap into action, stammering and assuring Kori she /can/ get the heated chocolate and marshmallows! It probably /doesn't/ take three of them to make a hot chocolate, and yet they get into work right away.

Kate hums thoughtfully as she rolls her eyes a little, biting her lower lip, "Yeah, he's... uh, he seems like a really serious guy. I think he wears that cape too tight or something." She smiles brightly and shakes her head, "Oh, well, you can always just fly to the cabin... it's uhh, just a little place. Like a house really, but no phone lines or electricity. A place to just... enjoy some solitude. Camping, kind of."

She perks her eyebrows and laughs softly, "Wait, have you never gone on a getaway?" She tilts her head and murmurs softly, "Well, I guess you're kind of way too important to just like... take a week to disappear into the woods and have some 'me time'."

Kate's eyes dart to the side as the blonde barrista, apparently the winner of approaching the alien heroine comes with that hot chocolate and marshmallows... and with 'Starfire <3' written on the cup! Well, Kate can't blame them for being fans, she's finding herself in the same boat.
Koriand'r Her drink earning a smile to the barrista and a lift of her hands to wave thanks to the whole crew who apparently had contributed to the beverage. Extra marshmellows and all! Lazily taking her first sip and giving a little sigh of delight before she looks back to the other woman and shakes her head. "I have, now and then. Flown to a beach, sometimes I take a trip into space to see the stars...but that is only a small getaway for an evening or so." A tilt of her head, the alien woman grins.

"Perhaps you will have to show me this cabin, although...what do you do if there is no electricity or phone to pass the time?"
Kate Kane Kate laughs and shrugs her shoulders, "Oh, usually I bring a few good books. I used to..." She trails off for a moment... no, no need to burden Kori with talk about her old habit of just getting blackout drunk. "Go fishing. But I don't think there are /actually/ any fish in the lake... mostly now I'll just take friends out there for a weekend together. Or if I want to hike into the woods and rough it, but have a place I know I can get to for shelter if a real big storm brews up."

She grins lopsidedly and laughs softly, "I'll admit, for owning a yacht I don't actually wind up soaking up sun on the sea very often. Then again, finding the time to take the yacht somewhere tropical just hasn't been in the cards lately."
Koriand'r Another sip of her drink, Koriand'r nods her head lightly leaning forward once more as her hands come to grasp the takeaway drink two-handed, elbows resting on the table. "Well, perhaps you can take me to a cabin and I will take you to a beach somewhere?" she offers with a grin that turns more than a little flirtatious. Such a slight shift, but clearly that Tamaranian culture and views on romance was conveyed so effortlessly.

"Assuming of course, you are interested in spending such time alone with me..."
Kate Kane Kate buys herself a few moments by taking an inadvisably deep gulp of her coffee... which /must/ be hot, because her cheeks flush to a shade that nearly matches her hair. She clears her throat softly, green eyes almost flashing, narrowing slightly as she murmurs dryly, "Well, I don't have a swimsuit, so if we're going to fly to a beach _now_, I'd have to improvise. But I'm pretty creative."

She shrugs her shoulders lightly and her own grin grows slightly, almost mirroring that flirtatious grin from alien princess as she hums softly, "I... don't think I can properly explain how interested I'd be, Kori." She chews her lower lip for a long moment and lets out a slow breath, "Nope, definitely not going to be able to think of an appropriate way to describe it." Definitely not in /public/, but the blush and the glint to those green eyes as she practically stares at Kori probably do a fair bit of explaining.
Koriand'r "I did not bring a swimsuit either," Koriand'r offers lightly, a grin given before she takes another sip of her chocolate. "I suppose we should finish our drinks and ponder which option would be most attractive. We could always find ourselves some food before or after." A little shrug of her shoulders and her gaze does flick towards the other woman's own before she looks to the serving staff.

"I will have to pay for my drink, and if you brought a vehicle here..." she trails off, the delays of reality casually discussed, but clearly her words hadn't quite been teasing either.

After all, it seemed she was quite glad for Kate's interest herself, though she laked any embrassment to express as much.
Kate Kane Kate shakes her head with a laugh, "Oh, just my bike, but I parked it at a secured garage, it'll be fine." She sips her coffee and perks her eyebrows up wordlessly, eyes glinting playfully as she swallows and murmurs out dryly, "Well, I'm sure we can make lack of swimsuits work for us. If we go to the beach." She hums softly and quirks an eyebrow, grinning, "Well, if you can carry me /and/ a couple grocery bags, we could grab up some stuff for a picnic. Sandwiches and the like? Strawberries? Sounds like a pretty good time on the beach to me."

She sips some more of her coffee, sinking back in her seat, a little more relaxed as she gets accustomed to Kori's open, casual candor. It's really a breath of fresh air to her usual... dour, reserved Gotham friends.
Koriand'r Of course, Koriand'r didn't know that the other woman across from was a 'co-worker' when it came to the superheroing business rather than simply a controlling interest in her other job, but then...she didn't have to hide her own suit. Still, she makes to drain her drink a little more readily, one of the marshmellows claimed and placed with her fingertips daintily into her mouth. A soft noise of appreciation and she nods in agreement to Kate's plan, quite happy to increase her pace.

"Well then, let us find a beach..."
Kate Kane Kate's more than happy to watch Kori enjoy that hot chocolate... though she's also content to let the princess speed up and drain her own coffee to match that pace. Part of her knows she can probably just... /tell/ Kori who she is. But maybe later. It's always so damned awkward. But what's the risk? Kori knows Batwoman's secret identity and Penguin decides to go after Kori to find out the secret? Well, sure, but he could also just go jump into the jaws of a hungry shark.

She laughs softly and murmurs dryly, "Well, I'd say Belize has fine beaches, but I don't know if you want to carry me that far." She tilts her cup up again to finish the last of that coffee and sighs out, "But really, I'm sure we'll find somewhere to relax and continue to get to know each other."
Koriand'r "We could," Kori murmers lightly before chuckling. "But you might get cold, and there is only so fast I could safely fly with an ordinary human being in my arms without protection." A little shrug, the drink is put aside, clearly drained of its contents. The orange-skinned alien stands, lifting her arms to stretch them over her head and her back lightly before turning and looking to the staff. "I will go pay them, then we will find a beach...or if we cannot? A pool will suffice until the next time."
Kate Kane Kate grins and nods her head, murmuring dryly, "Yeah, I mean, the jacket's cozy enough for a fast bike, but supersonic would be pushing it... and I don't want you to to have to /worry/ while you're holding onto me. A pool might be a better idea." She hums as she slips from her seat to stand up and stretch, hands clasping above her head, arms stretching back behind her head, "I mean, there's always the pool at my place. I mean, it's not in my condo, but it's in the building."

She shrugs lightly, like it's no big deal... sure, her name's on the building but still. It's not like she's going to be chasing the other tenants off to take it over for them or anything.
Koriand'r "Perfect..." Kori calls back over her shoulder before she saunters her way towards the counter and fishes out the payment. After all, she might not be a millionaire, especially on Earth, but...she was a heroine with a day job. It did help! Friendly smiles offered to the staff and the like before she turns back to the redhead, gesturing toward the door. "So...food and then this place of yours?"

Who was Kori to judge? She lived in a building that was literally a giant 'T'!
Kate Kane Kate bobs her head with a soft laugh, falling into step next to Kori, keeping pace with her, not /quite/ all up in personal space, but definitely closer than she'd normally linger to a casual acquaintance as she chews her lower lip thoughtfully, "Absolutely. What are you in the mood for? Anything you want, consider it my treat." She doesn't seem worried about Kori paying for things... though she /does/ have to keep stop making little jokes in her own head about Kori being able to demand astronomical sums for modelling work.
Koriand'r A blink, Koriand'r looks over her shoulder with a little confused expression. "I thought what I was in the mood for-" she begins before offering a soft 'oh' and a sheepish expression. "You mean what food I desire? I think. And your suggestions of the strawberries and sandwhiches sounded good." A shrug of her shoulders as they stepped clear and she turned, once more happy to scoop up Kate as she had on their previous outing and take to the air...only then to blink as they hovered. "Um...where are we actually going to?"
Kate Kane Kate's eyes flash for just a moment, with gleefully flirtatious intent as she laughs out, "Oh, well... I'm sure we can indulge your cravings entirely, darling." She takes that bridal carrying with only a little bit of a flush... sure, is it /kind/ of embarrassing to be picked up like this? Yeah. Except of course, when you're being picked up by an amazing space princess who's got limitless charm and good cheer.

She hums softly and chews her lower lip, "Well...." She reaches into the interior pocket of her jacket and begins tapping on her phone, brow furrowed in concentration, even if it's only a few seconds of searching, "I can guide you to a little gourmet shop and run in to pick up the strawberries and sandwiches... it's pretty easy to get to my place in Gotham. There's a balcony to land on and everything."
