Simon Williams Earth, it's a beautiful thing! It's a shame that someone has to put an end to it.

Floating just outside of sensor range is The First-born Son of Oblivion, himself; Annihilus. His arms are crossed over his armored chest and his be-masked face takes in the splendor of the blue marble marvel. He cackles within his helmet and throws his arms out wide, clearly enraptured with abject glee at the notion of conquest.

His green and purple armor shifts and flexes as he flies, the Cosmic Control Rod he wears on his neck plate begins to glow, the intense energies contained within no doubt sounding alarms on several early warning systems.
Carol Danvers The bad part about agreeing to fly a satellite - or satellites, Carol! - into orbit is that they don't really get packed in like they would for a shaking from a rocket launch. Which means not just zooming into orbit at top speed. "Ok, this ended up being longer than I expected," Carol Danvers thinks to herself as she places the satellite at the proper spot within input from whichever Stark AI is on the job.

Dusting her hands off unnecessarily, she slowly drifts back away from the satellite to not accidentally give it any drift, until she can begin jetting away at more appropriate speeds. A glow of energy surrounds her but not particularly brightly given she's not needing to tape into much cosmic power for this. "Hello Earth," she says to herself as she looks down at the blue planet below. "Such a nice view from up here," she says. Unaware for the moment there is anyone else up here.
Simon Williams Annihilus continues his spearing towards earth, his mask shifting to and fro as he marks potential threats. The untimely arrival of Carol Danvers, then, is just the ticket to send him over the edge. Still has a lot of hurt feelings about Earth's heroes, after all. Raising his hands in front of himself, they begin to surge with energy, readying a shot to be fired straight at the good Captain herself!

Is that Academy Award nominee Simon Williams?

Wonder Man is currently enjoying the perks of being in the Actor's Guild, namely the lengthy breaks and ability to call for stand-ins. "Romance on Mars 2" is currently shooting in Arizona, but he's wrapped all of his close-ups and dialogue for the day, so all that's left for the crew to do is film coverage for the other actor's performances. Deciding that was definitely stand-in material, Simon's taken it upon himself to get some flight training in. While he's never been the all-time greatest at it, he does enjoy zipping about from time to time, especially out in space where the chances of him running into things is a lot smaller.

He spies Carol off in the distance and slows to a halt, hands resting on his hips as he tilts his head, trying to place her. He doesn't spy the encroaching insect overlord, either.
Carol Danvers Having foregone her more revealing Ms. Marvel costumes after her time with the Kree - though damn she did like that black number, sashes are so money - Carol's wearing her red, blue and gold Kree Starforce uniform. Not quite as fashionable, but far more useful given the various abilities it holds. Though at the moment she's not bothering with her helmet, her blond hair just floating about her in the zero gee environment.

Looking at the Earth, she does spot a moving dot moving upwards with pace. She taps the arm console on her uniform, getting a zoomed in image of Wonder Man as he continues gaining attitude.

Suddenly Carol's head snaps upright as something tugs at her Seventh Sense. That cosmic awareness somewhat random and unpredictable, but when she feels that sudden rush from it, she knows something potentially lethal is up.

Cosmic energy flares brighter as Carol immediately does an evasive loop, back arched as she jets away from the spot she'd been a stationary target.
Simon Williams Be-decked in his designed-by-committee for maximum appeal black and red outfit, Wonder Man's eyebrows kick up over his sunglasses as he spots Carol's quick manuever, his attention snapping towards Annihilus. That energy blast is headed straight towards Earth, though, and he's zooming into action. His body crackles with purplish energy and he's rocketing straight towards an intercept course, catching the incoming blast with his abdomen. For anyone that doesn't know his whole 'deal', the next part is very strange. His face twists in pain as his entire form shifts and bends into something not-quite-Simon Williams before snapping back. His leather jacket is singed, and he's clutching his stomach, but he's survived.

Annihilus is pleased with this result, at least, but continues rocketing towards Carol, ill-intent read clear on his helmeted head.
Carol Danvers The flash of antimatter-laced energy makes it easy enough for Captain Marvel to trace the blast back to its origin. Her head swivels to see where Wonder Man intercepted the bolt.

Her helmet extends up out of her suit to cover Carol's head, a mohawk-like short plume running down the top of it. <<I have been replacing drapes and old boards and pulling down old wallpaper for two weeks,>> her Kree universal translator emits, detectable even by those floating in space. <<You have no idea how much I've been wanting to smash something that wouldn't shatter right away. Picked the wrong day to show up, bucko!>> she calls at Annihilus.

A look to Simon, <<You good to have a piece of this guy?>> She turns back, fist slamming into her palm and then pointing both hands towards Annihilus as photonic energy surrounds them. She lets off a double blast, showing him two can play that game.
Simon Williams Simon, still clutching his stomach with one hand, lifts his other to signal the a-ok. Shaking it off, he throws both hands down to his side and shouts a silent scream, his body shrouding itself once more in that bright ionic energy. He's zooming forward to join the fray and also thinking that he needs to get himself one of those fancy communicators.

Annihilus, though, is sent tumbling backwards as the dual bolts crash into him, but he's quick to regain control, "Foolish girl! It will take more than you to defeat The Living Death That Walks!" he boasts, leveling a hand towards her and firing off another blast in her direction.
Carol Danvers The blast hurled at Carol reaches her too fast to dodge, so she pulls up her arms to protect her head, flaring bright as the cosmic power floods her. The energy bolt hits her and there's a tremendous blast that sends Captain Marvel head over heels several times before she rights herself.

<<I was hoping you'd say that!>> she calls back at Annihilus, and then blasts forward, a plume of energy in her wake as she jets across the distance separating them in an arc that will end with her closing on Annihilus from the opposite side of Simon.

Carol's fist glows bright white as she combines the force of her movement and her superhuman strength into a titanic blow aimed at Annihilus's head.
Simon Williams Annihilus growls in frustration inside of his helmet as Carol manages to shake off his blast, seeing red as she zips away past her, too fast for him to get his hands on her. He doesn't catch her winding up for a strike as he's distracted by the sustained bean of shining ionic energy blasting into his back. He turns and lifts his arm to protect himself from the beam blasting forth from Simon's eyes. "Infernal Wonder Man! I've got something special planned for you! You and that disgusting Justice League!" Annihilus shouts, baring his teeth as he fights against the blast.
Carol Danvers Caught in Simon's blast, Carol is able to deliver the giant haymaker. For a moment she wonders if the insectoid-looking head will pop right off, but it only is rocked back, sending him tumbling in space. Simon's blasts leave him reeling, the momentum of the twin strikes sending him drifting back through space again.

Carol zooms upwards, facing their opponent. <<Justice League. You can't even handle us. You really want Superman here to trash you again?>> she quips.

Out of the corner of her eye, a moving dot catches Carol's attention. The international space station. And it's orbital path bringing it this way, potentially right through the area of the fight!
Simon Williams Simon is no Superman, but he has played one on TV. He grins at Carol's jibe and zooms forward to get his arms wrapped around Annihilus from behind. He attempts to cut his eyes in a signal to his crime fighting partner, but the sunglasses impede that particular course of action until Annihilus is swinging his head back into Simon's nose. It's not enough of an impact to usher a response from Wonder Man, but it does shatter the glasses which Carol can now see are pointed directly toward the sun.

"Sun! Into the sun!" he mouths as his quarry struggles in his grip. He definitely not getting out that way.

Still, Annihilus learns quickly, and angles a hand between himself and the steel-gripped Simon, blasting an anti-matter beam straight into his stomach once more. /That/ is enough to get him to let go.
Carol Danvers Captain Marvel uses the time bought by Simon's attack to jet forward, only she passes right on by. She intercepts the space station, getting beneath it and zooming it upwards into a higher orbit, allowing it to pass a few thousands miles from where the fight is happening. She'll need to move it back to a more stationary orbit later, but it should have days or weeks before it is in any kind of trouble.

She returns in time to find Annihilus having blasted Simon. <<No one ever taught you Earth hospitality rules? Supposed to call ahead. And bring a planet-warming present if we've just moved in!>> she tells Annihilus as her hands glow hot with energy.

She rains a series of blasts at him while zooming around him in a circle, keeping him distracted. Though the blasts aren't evenly spaced, and are tending to knock him away from the Earth, to where they'll have a straight path to the Sun without the planet in the way.
Simon Williams Racked with immense pain, Simon's body floats back and shifts and malforms again as his very singular energy signature begins dancing with another. It's a deeply uncomfortable experience for him, to be sure. That's probably what Annihilus was going for, though.

The Conqueror, zips around, deftly avoiding Carol's attacks, completely unaware that he's falling straight into their trap. An expert tactician he is not.
Carol Danvers Carol Danvers keeps up the barrage of shots. Some meant to hit, others to help corral Annihilus into the right direction. Eyes hidden behind the glowing visor of her helmet, the woman's blue eyes flitting over to check on Simon can't be easily seen. But she gives him time to recover with the continued assault.

Another blast by the invader is sent her way and dodged, Captain Marvel returning the fire. The next one she has to cover up protectively again, crying out in pain as that one hit her harder than the first.

<<Wonder Man,>> Captain Marvel says as she gets herself lined up with Annihilus to where the sun is on the opposite of him, not quite exactly, but close enough it makes it tough to look at him. <<As they said in Top Gun, I feel a need. You with me?>>
Simon Williams Pulling himself together (literally) Simon frowns and catches up with with the ongoing battle.

Hearing Carol's question elicits a grin from the man and he's nodding, lightning-like energy building up around his feet as he picks up speed. His hands sheath themselves in the same aura and he's rocketing past Carol, delivering a haymaker to the preoccupied Annihilus, knocking him backwards and setting him up for a quick and clean one-two with Miss Danvers.
Carol Danvers Captain Marvel zooms in behind Wonder Man. Annihilus is flipped head over heels by Simon's blow, only to find Carol's fist waiting for him as he completes the 360 degree tumble.

It knocks him back the other way and then Carol calls out, <<NOW!>> She grabs hold of their opponent by a shoulder and starts to jet forward, rapidly approaching light speed and beyond as she glows with the bright light of a white hole. Taking the villain jetting across the inner solar system towards Sol!
Simon Williams "No! No! I just got back! You can't do this to me!" Annihilus shouts as Simon grabs onto his wrists, remembering this time to point the big bad's hands out and away from himself. He's nowhere near as fast as Carol in a vacuum, but he's glad to be of assistance in restraining the insectoid tyrant.

His jacket begins to crinkle and burn away as they get closer and closer to the sun, but the rest of his uniform is rated for much higher temperatures, thankfully.

Simon grins as they close the distance, his glowing eyes burning more and more intense as they begin to charge up.
Carol Danvers <<We can survive this,>> Captain Marvel assures the villain from the antimatter dimension. <<Kind of doubt your kind of matter is going to fare too well, is it!?>> she yells at him as the heat reaches a point it would vaporize a normal person.

Annihilus lets out a scream of pain. "I can't open a portal back this quickly!" he yells at them. <<You can if there's enough energy already there,>> Carol says, and then shoots a continuous blast of energy at a spot in space, looking over to Simon and nodding as his eyes are powered up with his potent energy as well.
Simon Williams Taking Annihilus by the collar and whipping him in an intercept course with Carol's energy beam, Simon lets loose another silent roar as a blast explodes from his eyes and joins in with his partner's.

Annihilus, clearly taking the hint, tears open a portal at the convergence, and rockets through it as quickly as he can in an explosion of pure anti-matter that sends Simon and Carol reeling.

The light in Simon's eyes dims considerably and, upon finding that he's no worse for wear, he begins to laugh, looking over at the woman.
Carol Danvers That last blast was a big one. <<Ok, not gonna lie. That one's going to be felt tomorrow,>> She comments of the release of anti-matter energy so close to them. A hand goes to the small of her back as she begins to fly at a slower pace back away from the sun, to somewhere a little less toasty.

<<Appreciate your help with him. Earth could do without another tidal wave. Not that he had Zod there to help him this time,>> she says, eyeing Wonder Man. <<You're pretty handy to have around in a fight, if you get tired of having beautiful actress throw themselves at you,>> she tells him, before letting out a chuckle. <<Which, yeah, I know how silly that is to even say aloud, right?>>
Simon Williams How Marvelous! The world has survived a potential apocalypse and is none the wiser. Possibly the worst outcome for Simon because this could have been a huge PR boost for his upcoming movies, but you win some you lose some, right?

Brushing some shreds of burnt up leather jacket, Simon grins back to Carol. Her statement elicits another silent chuckle from him and he's lifting a finger to gesture between the two of them and then indicating a thumbs up. He's pausing for a moment before he's pointing to himself again and miming throwing a shield. He strikes a hero pose afterwards and looks to Carol expectantly.
Carol Danvers <<What, you want to meet Cap?>> she asks him. Her memories are kind of swiss cheese, thanks to Rogue first, and the Kree brainwashing her into being Car-El second. So even if she knew if Simon had met Cap before, she might not remember it.

She reaches out to take Wonder Man's hand if he allows, and then zooms them back to Earth at supralight speeds so the trip doesn't take too long. Before long they are back down in the atmosphere where more regular conversation can take place.
Simon Williams Wonder Man gladly takes Carol's hand. He can survive in a vacuum and he doesn't require food or drink, but it would have taken him a /while/ to get back on his own, and he really doesn't handle boredom well.

Back in-atmosphere where sounds exists once again, Simon is elated. "Thank God! I was starting to miss the sound of my own voice," he says with a grin, floating high in the air somewhere above South America.

"But that's beside the point. Yes, I would love to see Rogers again. I was blessed enough to be cast as him in Avenge This, and I'd love to spend some time with him. Also, this whole affair really got the blood pumping again. Wouldn't mind...y'know...helping out where I can. If you don't think I've gotten too rusty," he says, smiling warmly at the woman.
Carol Danvers "Didn't look too rusty to me," Carol says as her helmet retracts away into her uniform, revealing the blond's smiling face again. "Tell you what, why don't you come by the mansion sometime. If you would like to help out, we can talk about the possibility of joining the team," she suggests.

She glances down below them. "Pretty sure that's Bolivia, so just a short flight back home," she says. "I wasn't kidding about that home remodeling stuff. My mom passed the only family home on to me. Untended to for the last decade, and in need of a makeover before that. But hey, it's... kind of fun," she says.

"Ok, see you back in New York?" she asks. "Just give us a ring and we'll set something up."
Simon Williams "Stop by the mansion," he repeats, nodding. "It's a date, then," Simon says, flipping open one of the pouches on his belt and sliding out a new pair of sunglasses. There's really no telling how many pairs of broken 'MW' brand glasses are floating through space right now. "Oh!There's a guy in Brooklyn, Vinnie Szilagi. He did all of my tile work when I was remodeling my penthouse. He owes me a favor, so tell him I sent you," he says, sliding the new shades on and lifting a hand in a lazy salute. "It was a pleasure to fight alongside you, Captain Marvel," he says, whipping the salute in her direction before whatever energy's suspending him in the air is cut off and he's beginning a freefall towards South America.

It looks like he's decided he's not going back to set today.
