Ted Kord Ted Kord yells over the roar and rush of re-entry, "Who names a spaceplane Icarus? Did n one in STAR Labs read the myth of Icarus?" The plasma beyond the window is clearing. Ted sees the spaceplane, clasped (hopefully) firmly by the Bug's legs. The leg motors are showing amber warning signals. Ted has the thrusters doing the full reverse and suddenly negative g-forces replace the acceleration mashing him in his seat. He is pushed against his restraints. But he gives a yell of triumph. "Icarus 1, how are you holding up?"

"We're doing good Bug 1. We're opening flaps in 3-2-1!" Ted gets pulled forward a little harder. All good. He starts preparing the Bug for vertical flight.

"Joan, how are you holding up? You see anything falling off don't wait to tell me." He spares Joan a glance.
Joan Wright Probably people who never saw Titanic!" Joan shouts back from her own seat, buckled in. Dressed for the occasion, Joan is wearing her own uniform made of resist weave. To avoid any potential issues of mistaking another uniform for hers, the fabric choice is decidedly NOT blue. Instead the color opted for the attire has taken inspiration from the construction site. It is a mix of black and yellow to provide sufficient contrast for visibility. The helmet with the attire is white. Along the waist, around the arms, and around the legs are several stripes of gray with exterior pockets. Likely a compromise due to Joan's need for pockets and Ted's need for her not to accidentally puncture a hole in the safety suit with misplaced keys.

Considering the activity involved, the helmet is definitely on and she is strapped in to her seat. On the bright side, she doesn't necessarily have to be standing up to perform her magic apparently. The gloved hand is already set in the fingergun gesture, ready at a moment's notice should there be any other incidents. "I'll tell you AFTER I put it back on."
Ted Kord Ted Kord pulls back on the yoke. They are eased back in their sets, then pushed downward as the mighty Bug fights for altitude, to get into a better approach. Slowly this too eases off and the warning lights begin to shut off. "Well, we relieved stress on the legs. I hope we didn't do it by tearing them off. Hey here come the cousins, Bailey." A cloud drones come up from the port to assist. Bailey in her charging socket, uncovers her eyes, then covers them again. Her text line flashes on: :( :( :S U+1F92E >:( >8,

"There's no need to use such language -especially about me! I recognize those goggles."
Joan Wright Hearing Ted's response to the upset bot, Joan looks over to the youngest. "Hang in there Bailey." She states, hoping to comfort the bot, "We're closer to home than we were a few minutes ago.

"What type of assurance is that? The type that doesn't want to incite Murphy to enforce the law. That's what. "Think about the type of movie you want to watch when we get back."

Joan's eyes move over to a display monitor, observing the more. ahem uniform bots scooting out to make the emergency repairs a bit more semi-permanent. Always good to reinforce. "This was... certainly different than what I'm used to, Ted."
Ted Kord Ted Kord brings the Bug in for a landing, depositing the space plane gently, then standing over it. Ted runs a mre thorough systems check. Outside the bots are spraying the plane with foam. He turns to Joan and takes her gun hand. "I know we decided to go out more but after this, you want to order some dumplings in and go home?" Before she can answer e points to a monitor, "Hey! We made the news! Wow, a couple of news stations. It's nice to be recognized and not crash. Or turn you into a kaiju. How about a celebratory smooch?" He leans in.
Joan Wright As the ship sets down with the thump one one attribute to a regular plane landing, Joan lets out a long sigh. Eyes, opening her head turns to look to Ted's hand holding her own. Her fingers twists, becoming less gunlike as they lace between Ted's fingers. "...Yes. Ordering in tonight would be good." She agrees.

Joan tilts up her head to allow for a kiss. They did avoid dying in a horrific manner as well as prevent others from doing the same thing. Definitely something to celebrate.

When the kiss is concluded, she finishes her thought. "Although be warned. Bailey's picking the movie tonight."
Ted Kord Ted Kord shrugs. "She made 'bot oif the week. It's her call. =" He leans back, and his phone beeps. He takes it ofif the cradle, answering with a grin, "Yell-o. Yes it is. Oh hi, Professor Ted how... uhm sure. I'll talk to her. Hi so nice to m... yes. Yes she is. Yes she was. I thought she would be invaluable if the space plane started to c... I... but... Yes. You can speak with her. But, why did you call my phone? Oh yeah she's smart enough not to ... hey!" He holds the phone to Joan.

"It's your mom. She's pretty angry." He waggles the phone, like it's hot.
Joan Wright Angry mom on the phone. Well, she better sit do-

Oh hey, already doing that. Joan holds out her hand, pulling the device over to herself once Ted releases the phone. Cautiously, she brings the phone up to her ear. "Hi Mom! I guess you sa- Well, we weren't expecting, just planning for the worst ca-" Joan pauses, eyes glancing up to the ceiling as she waits. "Mmhmm. Mmmhmm. Uh-huh. Yes. Well I hadn't seen the port yet so-"

A brow lifts as Joan grows quiet once more, nodding silently to the other side of the conversation. "Oh Yes. Ok." She looks over to Ted, biting her lip.

"... Okay. I'll tell him. Love you too."
Ted Kord Ted Kord now has Bailey sitting on his lap. He pulls his goggles off, letting Joan see his eyes.

"She sounded pretty angry. How bad is it? I mean you're an adult. She can't tell you what to do. I've helped you with /your/ work. Well, I gave you office space in the penthouse. What'd she say?"
Joan Wright Joan looks to the phone as she hangs up. Frowning, she hands the phone back to Ted. "Well..." Joan starts, "She wants pictures of the port. She hasn't seen it either. And also she wants us to come over for the Fourth. Think you can fit that into your schedule?"
Ted Kord Ted Kord squints. "She sounded like... she ripped me a... that's it? I have a press kit FFS. But she sounded like she was going to order you back home and send you to your room. What the hell? Is this a Gotham thing? Because I'm not sure I trust this woman with explosives around me." He rubs his eyes as Bailey pats his thigh.
Joan Wright "We're from Massachusetts." Joan corrects, her voice betraying a bit of defensiveness against the accusation, "We moved to New York for mom's job. Dad COMMUTES to Gotham because we can afford NOT to live in New Jersey."
Ted Kord Ted Kord leans back a little. "Okay fair. Well... not going to Gotham is something. I'll just have to charm her. But, is she angry about me dragging you along... even though I didn't drag you?"
Joan Wright "Oh not anymore." Joan replies, "She gets to the point pretty quickly so the blowups don't last long. Just don't forget the pictures. She IS where I get my love for buildings from."
