Owner Pose
Loki The Ice Palace in the Bronx has been a tourist attraction for perhaps over a year. Now and then, different magical effects appear there, though it hasn't been particularly harmful to anyone.

However, the last month has seen the castle to be cut off from easy approach: there's wards around that redirect visitors off to go check if they left their stove on -- things like that. It's an entirely reasonable and subtle filter to get rid of various people without actively attacking them with skeleton minions or the like.

The Ice Palace today is a beautiful structure, recently cleaned up, with new bright stained-glass style windows showing elaborate designs of stars. Around the grounds, there is a lot of motion: lots of little animals, in white and blue. Snowy constructs of all sorts - rabbits, birds, some larger ones. They seem peaceful, many of them enjoying naps in the light sun on ledges, and aren't underfoot.
Jane Foster SHIELD has vehicles! They are very posh by government standards, black sedans and black SUVs reinforced to avoid being shot by the likes of a Belova or a Barnes. Jane isn't interesting enough to assassinate by Widow or Winter Soldier, honestly. Russia would be utterly disappointed to see their great plans end not with a bang, but a whimper. You can't kill the dead. Not easily, anyway.

Be as that may, she has a nice vehicle and whatever address that Emma is willing to provide to be picked up. Otherwise, Jane gives the Bronx address if the refined businesswoman doesn't want a WAND lift. Naturally it's not a requirement! Either way, she parks a block away and cases the distance in the way of a New Yorker; unperturbed, unbothered by pretty architecture, and only mildly interested in a taco truck loitering on a corner. Tacos are good; work, however, is demanding. No skeletal minions here, though admittedly pulling a fast one on a blonde mutant like that isn't easy for /most/. As for Jane, she simply has to go off sheer willingness of the owner to let her in. If he doesn't, it's going to be a nuisance.

On the other hand, bringing along a gift never hurts, does it? Do not ask how and where she managed to procure a black dwarf apple, so dark a red as to be obsidian, degenerate matter and a delicious smoked vanilla flavour condensed into a practically creamy bite. A tasty thing in a box. "This should be the place. They should be in there, all that could be gathered between him and I. Mostly him." Honest, that much.
Emma Frost Emma Frost is not particularly happy to be going where they're going. She vastly prefers to leave the affairs of gods to the gods themselves and minimize as much as possible what she has to do in their presence. The various embassies exist for reasons, after all. And that means she can quite helpfully stay out of thier way for her own mental sanity.

But.. For whatever reason, all of the sundered souls have been sent here or gathered. And she owes it to them to see it through and to finalize things to put them at peace. "So, as to -what- exact reason has everything rallied in this rather esteemable location? And is there anything I should be aware of etiquette wise going in for proper behavior?" Emma Frost does not like games. At least, not when she's the one on the receiving end. But still, politeness and etiquette are what the echelons of high society have to base along their duels and challenges amongst.

So, it behooves her to play nicely to do what she has to do. "Or anything that you would recommend I be aware of?" Politeness.
Loki Some of the animals have looked over, but they don't really react very much. They're aware of their surroundings, but in a sort of distant way: like one would if he or she believed they were watching a movie. So yes, there are visitors, but they don't cause any concern. The animals aren't spies, they're just there, milling about. The structure itself doesn't change, though any approach into the site will cause a little tingle of magic, as the spell allows them into the general grounds.

The palace itself appears open, there isn't some big closed doors to knock on - it's just a large front area, garden-like zones to either side, and the grand entry that stands wide open, showing the overwhelming artistic style of the interior design.
Jane Foster "Avoid direct insults or challenging anyone to a duel, and you should be fine. He's a good deal less rigid about certain customs than other Aesir, though as proud as any of them." Jane's warnings are given in crisp, matter-of-fact delivery. There's a reason practically everyone from the UN down to random school teachers flood her poor interns with those kinds of questions they daren't direct at the Avenger or Lady Sif. The latter might take their head off. She carefully tucks the box closer to her side. "Ideally, keep your wits and be yourself. I doubt highly you will step amiss." In both senses, but one can never be entirely sure. Her airs are practically non-existent next to Emma's, but then, she's just some astrophysicist and not the head of Frost Industries, or the like. She gives a polite nod as they enter, and murmurs a hello to a few of the animals.

No point then in looking at any reflective surface. She is not a deer. She will not collide with something; nor is she bringing presents to... well, bloody. Is Emma wearing red?

The elegance of the architecture sets in somewhat, as she calls, "I've come bearing gifts, and neither of us are Greek!" Just because.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would let out a sigh, "Relatively simple." Emma goes to start sweeping, moving to focus on the animals, "THey seem quite quiescent. Almost as if sedated." The fact they're seeming so unresponsive to the circumstances giong on, and the cold, seems indicative to her of some sort of trance or suppression. Perhaps magic, particularly if it's shielding them from the climate in the area.

Emma would resist the urge to roll her eyes, "How droll. But better than something quite cmplicated. I shall let you do the speaking for us unless you require me to elaborate on things." she would walk along with Jane.

Then shift her gaze at Jane. Assessing body language as the woman seems to be avoiding looking at reflective surfaces. Eyes pulling away a little too quickly mayhaps?
Loki "We fought the Shadow King last night as a group; the extreme politeness isn't required today," teases the mage, Kels, from directly to their left. Was he there before? Maybe. That sudden appearance out of nowhere thing is normal, though, at least for Jane's experience.

Currently, it does entirely appear to be Kels, whom Emma has been speaking to via elemental for quite some time. Same voice, and appearance that she did see in one of the visions granted of a magic ritual memory. It matches up. Which means he's a relatively normal adult male, in clothes suitable to go out into the city without causing any disruption.

"But I can ascend a throne properly if it's comfortable to go through that," adds Kels, aimed at Jane, but then his gaze slides to Emma with a slight flare of eyes and lift of brows, as if sharing the joke he made with Emma. It's friendly enough.

Kels (well, Loki) is being directly playful, without being aggressive or insulting with it. His mood is relaxed, which puts him in a very good situation to speak to. Sometimes his chaotic nature can be beneficial: and for now he's enjoying what happened the previous day, and that this pair know what heroisms he performed.
Jane Foster Relativity where Jane is concerned isn't something to trifle with. She's willing to nod to the indicated animals and then gliding across the ice with the skill of someone who has wiped out on it, many times at least. Or in a rink, where the fresh surface requires great care. She slips across as she can, armed with the box and a little more than tenacity. Kels, at least as Loki wears, brings her to dropping her offering on one of the flat surfaces to be found. If that's a throne over a table, so be it. "Mind this produces its own internal heat, though not excessive if you consume it in the next hour or so." Is it entirely /proper/ to drop such a thing on a throne? No, but then propriety with regards to monarchs isn't exactly an American trait, now is it?

"We have managed a great feat against the Shadow King, though the victims of his malice remain limited int heir current state. I can provide some assistance and take much more guidance where that is involved, but I suspect pairing up bodies and psyches is a feat far more difficult than matching socks with a blindfold on. Crude though the adage is, we've surely got a limited amount of time to set that to right and give people their lives back. Surely?"
Emma Frost The identity of 'Kels' makes a great deal of sense in retrospect and explains a great many things. Emma goes to mostly keep her face relaxed then before going on, "A pleasure to make your acquaintance then. You should inform Tabitha as to your identity, I'm sure that she would get a deep thrill from it." Informality added with comment on the one that had far more engagement with him.

Shew ould flash a smile and make a point of not even remotely trying to read Loki's mind or evaluate his facial expressiosn too closely. Neither would be of any particular benefit, and there was no need to be rude.

"Thank you again for your assistance, your efforts helped save a great many lives."

As Jane would start to elaborate, Emma would nod, "Yes, it's extremely difficult under the best of circumstances. These circumstances are far from the best. And we have to smooth over the significant trauma they've been through as well or they risk extreme dissassociative issues."
Loki Loki crosses his arms as Jane explains her assistance and guidance stance, drumming a few fingers on one bicep slowly. "I was able to come up with a strong stabilizing trance for them today, so they'll hold for a little longer than I'd originally estimated," Loki says, but then holds up one finger in a 'hold on' motion, so they don't jump to any conclusions about that: "But this situation isn't 'free' or infinite, and releasing them back into the Astral would probably kill them."

"That wasn't a threat," Loki then clarifies. He can anticipate that they might think that statement about killing was a threat, coming from him. He's self-aware!

Loki looks curiously at Jane's gift, and with a nod, seems accepting of it. Gifts and compliments do work well with him, if he doesn't detect ulterior motives, anyway. Loki shrugs a little at the Tabitha comment: meaning, he doesn't mind if Emma tells her or not.

"These are constructs, and anchored here, pulling energy from this source, not from /me/," Loki explains, with an indication to mean the palace. "I suggest setting up somewhere to convey them back to their bodies -- within perhaps a mile at most. They aren't deeply anchored in these constructs, your 'Charles' should have little problem restoring them, I'd imagine, based on what I saw of that astral structure."
Jane Foster "Releasing them doesn't fix the problem. The best case scenario is matching those most at risk of traumatic deterioration to their bodies, which have been kept in a comatose if stable state. That much we can guarantee for most. They've got somewhere to go back to." Not everyone does, by Jane's tone. Her dark eyes narrow a fraction, and she scoots to the side for Emma to maintain a place in the conversation without talking to anyone's back. "I do not consider myself remotely more than an amateur in these matters, but they /are/ of the utmost concern to the agency. Moving people here in shifts will be possible. However, disconnected from life support, they will deteriorate. A string of ambulances around the block will also draw attention, so it's going to have to be in shifts to make it less evident."

Already that mind is working over numbers, and whether the clout she has -- some -- will translate into Peggy backing her. If this is a Fury-level thing. Let's face it, it's gonna inevitably be Fury level. Orrrr...

"Would that be amenable? I don't want to assume the Professor is well enough in body or spirit to achieve that, or that it's something we can demand of a single person rather than several." This from Loki to Emma, her attention flows as smoothly as the wind around a barrier. "We /do/ have records that might help, for all that it matters. But this is really your bailiwick, ma'am, and I'm treading on suppositions and trading in possibility rather than fact. It's your acquaintances' expertise that we rely on."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod over, "Yes, Charles likely can. However I don't think it's likely he'll be able to do it in the immedaute future. Whlie I'm no doubt he would try to do so, I don't think he's physically capable of performing it without injuring himself to some degree." Her tone is rather flat at the moment before continuing on.

"So if the.. Containers can hold until he's better, then by all means. If not.. Hopefully if it's simple for him, the rest of us can manage to do it with some effort and care. And your assistance in the matter. Thank you very much for keeping them safe."

As the astrophysicist would continue, Emma would consider for a moment. "Hopefully amongst the group of us it's something with some effort we can perform together. however I do fear that some of my.. Companions may have pushed htemselves to thier mental limits." Betsy had been possessed by Farouk, Jean had pushed herself to mental exhaustion as far as Emma was concerned with maintaining the Firebird.
Loki "In... theory a portal could be opened to elsewhere-- if you didn't want to transport all your empty bodies closer to here.... assuming you could quickly pull their minds out of the constructs before they evaporated...." Loki says, taking this more as some sort of magical puzzle than with an aspect of deep concern for the people.

Still, it's helping, even if Loki is more interested in the spellwork itself than the individuals. Loki's thinking aloud. "Or, get another power source to maintain the constructs here that isn't this palace," he continues. "You remember the candle, yes?" That's at Emma. "Essentially a similar idea. These constructs are very stable, but do require something to fuel them or they fizzle," Loki explains, with a snap of fingers to demonstrate the fizzle. "There could have been better ways, I am not arguing that, but this is what I had available on Friday when suddenly there was an opportunity to steal all of his gathered minds." Loki's being a little braggy there, his smile amused.

"For /me/, I have something else I need to do, but this isn't directly draining on me, so there's some time." Loki considers himself, then, and liquidly shapeshifts out of Kels, and to himself. He's taller, far more commanding of the room, as his true Asgardian Prince form, and his 'acting' adjusts also to suit it. He stops being quite as relaxed in physical position, though his mood is the same.
Jane Foster "Bringing them in is another avenue. Sustaining a portal isn't exactly easy, is it?" Liar, liar, pants on fire, who knows how to breach interdimensional spires? "Doctor Strange would be an ideal candidate to assist for that kind of gate. Or the power source." Tapping into a leyline? Hey, she /is/ WAND.

She gives that dry, thin smile to Loki to show, perchance, he isn't speaking gibberish any more than Emma is at the moment. Hurray for the vanilla human! She can almost manage it, almost. Not looking at the man preening like an overexcited bird, anyway.

"Whatever the decision is, it needs to be made soon. No matter how much we lean on you, it's still a principle point of attack or failure that puts you at risk." Her tone isn't particularly demanding, pushing around Loki with such things rarely working well for anyone. "Nor do I imagine the government enjoys footing the bill for critical care for all these people. It doesn't come cheap. Where that leaves us then is the best approach to handle all these people, in a timely and succinct fashion, with as little loss as possible. It's the Venn diagram. We need it quick, we need it good, therefore it won't come cheaply. Is this where we bargain price?"
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod, "We need something to.. Maintain them for the duration until we have a safe way to restore them to tehir bodies without deteoriation. And perhaps a way to ensure that their bodies aren't at risk of further damage if some of them are on life support." This is purely theoretical at the moment. "I only presume, but is what is preserving them magical in nature? In which case if it is would finding another possible magical source be possible and the.. Stabilization passed over to it?" She would try to offer as an alternative.

"That gives us a litlte greater margin of error.." And also prevents the risk that Loki might grow bored, annoyed, or have Thor hit him over the head several times with Mjolnir when he tried to turn Thor into a frog again or some such thing.

"IF the issue is monetary funding for their physical care that's a simple thing. I'd just need a few hours to arrange it presuming that you can locate appropriate facilities and personnel to handle their care for an indefinite period."
Loki "Easy depends on who you're asking," Loki says, implying it's easy for him, but his willingness could go either way on the matter. "I have other things to do, so my timeline may or may not fit with whatever you arrange, on portal-making. Also, SHIELD and I haven't been best of friends, so I /expect/ that yes, you'll want to use Strange, or whoever."

Loki's been ruffled by Strange being brought up, it's very obvious. Loki shifted from pleasant to a sort of tolerant expression, and prowled to drape himself on a nearby couch made of ice and maybe clouds.

"Yes, you can move them to another source. Go for it," Loki offers to Emma, a little bit deadpan. He's still being friendly, but has disengaged a little bit.
Jane Foster "All of them are on a variation of it. Separating someone's soul -- their psyche -- is fatal, by and large. We don't have good statistics for long-term survival on that front." The one example they have, short of the Ancient One or various sorcerers almost-Supreme.... that's just not in the archives, thank you very much. Privacy is privacy.

She shrugs lightly enough and glances sidelong to Loki, /pointedly/. That 'do not make me bring your mother into this' look because the littlest Valkyrie who could /will/. "SHIELD is aware of your involvement only at the highest of levels, as I thought it appropriate to demonstrate Asgard's direct engagement for a positive outcome to the city's residents. At risk to oneself. They will not know the explicit details unless you see fit to release that information, and the same applies for Phoenix, the professor, and others. I have divulged what I can attest to, but there's plenty that is /not/ within my knowledge or scope to be able to make comments on. " You can't shake down a spy who doesn't know what she's looking at. And look, Jane wasn't there when certain things went down. "Be as it is, I want these people put back together as much as the rest ô fyou and I want a timeline that isn't measured in weeks but days. If that means I drag a few assets and consultants in, I do that to both free you from the wearisome burdens and distractions from more interesting things. Like the excellence of pants."

She breaks into a smirk, the bright hue of a laugh lending colour to the ice palace. "I don't think you quite construe the numbers we've got, ma'am. We are occupying more ICU beds than New York City /has./"
Emma Frost Two extremely powerful beings, one sorceror, one god of trickery and lies depending on source material not getting along? Logical. Emma Frost goes to glance at Jane for a moment, "And I do have a feeling that there's a way here to keep it amusing for you as well." She would go on as Jane would continue, while looking over at Loki. "I do presume that you enjoy a challenge after all. And you do seem to enjoy the limelight and you did it ever so well and you deserve further credit for it." She would go over smoothly.

"So do you feel like pursuing a bit of a challenge purely to see how readily you accomplish it and to help those that have been wronged toh elp demonstrate your capabilities ot others that might doubt it?"
Loki Loki is listening, taking on the pose more of a relaxed consultant, as if the others came to ask him his aid or blessing on some endeavor. His posture on the little couch there meshes with that. He got a little ruffled by the Strange thing, but isn't so prickly as to swing mood QUITE that quickly!

"I'm willing to remain a silent hand until everyone is restored," Loki says, with strong generosity. He's channeling a benevolent god. He gives Emma a sideways, amused look. He senses what she's doing, but doesn't directly fight her about the accolades either. "They can see at the end. I do not need to /show off/ in this rescue. That would hardly be truly heroic of me, would it."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would take a moment over in consideration. No, one did not want to press that point over with Loki, "Of course. Thank you for lal your aid in this. You've saved a lot of lives and prevented far worse from happening. You have earned the right to call yourself a hero." That she presumed was the best compliment she could give him that was sincere.

"And we'll make sure your efforts pay off. Thank you again. We'll ensure that our end of things is carried out>"
