Stephanie Brown The sound of fighting has been filling the Batcave for the last 40 minutes. Batgirl and Orphan have ranged back and forth in a fight that started in a workout area. But soon it spread across the range of training areas as the two went at it tooth and nail. Leaping from one post to another after each other, dodging around obstacles, some of them moving and able to deliver their own hard blow.

As usual, Stephanie Brown lost to Cassandra Cain in the end. Though at least compared to a year ago, Cass has to actually make an effort now. There's still a noticeable gap in the two, but the days of not having exert herself and still being able to beat Stephanie went away with the all the training she's done under Barbara, Dick, Bruce, and Cassandra herself.

"Ok, now I'm hungry," Stephanie says, grabbing a hand towel and tossing one to Cass. "Maybe we can get Alfred to whip something up?" she suggests.
Cassandra Cain Rubbing the back of her head, Cass has a smile on her face. She not only enjoys sparring, she feels really freaking proud of how far Steph has come along. She has to admit that she's spent most of her recent training time on ballet, but that's no excuse. Steph earned her hits today.

She motions a swirling motion with her fingers, referring to a spin kick that actually clipped her in the back of the head, nicely. Giving props where they're due. "Need....group work," she says, her voice allowing her to give both kudos and suggestions better these days.

Still, she holds her hand out for a towel, nabbing it out of the air. This being the first time Steph's made her work up a solid sweat, she's getting to the point where she actually believes the girl can, you know. Fight.
Jason Todd The thing about the Bat Family that tends to unsettle most is just how adept they are at reading the room and knowing who wants or is thinking about something. Even when they weren't in the room to pick up on those clues.

This instance would appear to be no different.

The matte black Mustang Mach 1 that Jason has heavily modified for those times he needs four wheels instead of just two can be heard as it comes through the maw of the Bat Cave's entrance. It's exhaust rumbles down the long tunnel like so much thunder before the vehicle emerges into the garage section of the Cave and rolls to a stop on one of the many turntables.

Jason is wearing street clothes, black cargo pants and a red hoodie. He does seem to appreciate irony. Casting a quick glance around he offers a half smile and nod. "Cass. Steph." He turns to pull three boxes out of the car. Pizza from the Family's favorite little shop in Gotham.

"Thought someone might be hungry. I was. Figured, what the hell. I'd try to be a little better about this whole, uh, playing nicely thing." Probably because he knew Bruce wasn't actually home right now.

He walks over, setting the pizzas down. "I didn't think to get plates or napkins. Sorry." There's one pizza for himself. One with the common toppings Stephanie would prefer. And the last? He taps the box and nods to Cass, "This one was a little harder to get them to make. Hopefully it hits the spot for you. Otherwise?" He holds up a bag with takeout from the Family's favorite Sushi place. "Figure I'd play the odds."
Dick Grayson     Dick steps off the elevator that descends into the Batcave from the lake house, having caught the tail end of the sparring as he descended. Moving over to the two women as they towel off he smiles and calls out, "What I caught of that was pretty impressive. Better be careful Cass, the student might equal the master one of these days." He walks over to Steph and gives her a light kiss on the cheek.

Looking over to the exit tunnel as the growl of Jason's car fills it, he comments "Going to be a busy night, I see. Always nice when we get a little crowd in here. Once Jason parks and approaches bearing the pizza boxes, Dick waves to him, then heads over to the fridge that's in the kitchen area. Well, kitchen might be overstating it, but there is a table, fridge and microwave for anyone working in the Batcave for an extended period of time. Opening a box he pulls out some paper plates and asks "Ok, what do people want to drink?"
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown nods as if she understands Cassandra's comment about needing more group work. "Maybe we can get some others in here this weekend," she says. "Before I have to start cramming next week for exams."

The rumble of the Mustang draws Stephanie's attention, and if Jason pulled the attention with the car, the pizza holds it. "Oh yes... thank you thank you thank you!" she says as he gets out with the trio of pizzas. She jokingly does the grabby hands thing as he's walking over.

Dick's arrival on the elevator lights up Stephanie's face. She rests her hand on his shoulder rather than hugging given she's sweaty. "Oh, probably a way from that. At least I feel like I can give her at least a little challenge now," Stephanie comments of her friend's fighting abilities.

"I'll take some grape juice," she replies to Dick. "Let me go scrub my face quick, be right back," Stephanie says, heading into a changing area to clean up, wash her hands, and then return, a little less sweaty-faced than before.
Cassandra Cain Cass has never understood exams. She's never had one, so it's kind of alien to her. Schooling? Pfagh, weird normal people stuff. She doesn't know how lucky she has it with her homeschooling and martial art lifestyle.

Without needing to comment on what Steph's said, she puts the towel around her neck and leans against a training dummy, watching as Steph goes toward pizza. She hasn't had a lot of experience with the stuff, but it smells weird to her. Tossing Dick an upnod, she pushes off of the dummy and walks over to J.

Lifting the lid on the offering, she looks inside. Then she looks at Jason, her left eyebrow raised. A hand reaches in, and she lifts out a slice of something pizza-ish. "Is what?" she asks, her verbiage getting more verbal of late. Still needs correcting, but she's trying.

She sniffs the pizza, not opening her mouth quite yet.
Jason Todd Jason Todd smirks at Steph, "Easy now. I drop any of these.." he leaves whatever implied threat hanging. A glance over brings him to realize Dick arrived at almost the same time. "Busy night?" He sets the boxes down, spreads them out, and flips open the lids, looking toward Cass, perhaps hoping to see some indication of approval for the uniquely crafted pizza made for her particular diet. "Cauliflower crust. Crushed tomato red sauce. All veggies and some shrimp for proper protein. Nothing else added. Or, you know, sushi. Both if you want 'em." He doesn't figure she'll be quite that hungry but the offer is on the table with the food.

He looks back toward Dick, "Or was that.. "Knight" .." the air quotes can be heard. If Dick is here that may mean He's actually here too. And that would probably sour Jason's mood whether he wants it to or not. Pushing past that question he follows up, "Whatever energy drinks Alfred hasn't banned us from keeping in there will work for me." He has faith there has to be some. He grabs a slice from the pizza he brought for himself. It's a loaded supreme with pineapple added. around a bite he glances to Cass and Steph, "How's the training going?"
Dick Grayson     Dick takes a couple bottles and a can of Kill Cliff Ignite for Jason. Alfred had finally been persuaded after Dick found an all-natural energy drink, so the fridge was now stocked with several flavors. Moving over to the table, he drops the plates in the middle for people to grab, slides the can over to Jason, offers a plain water to Cass as she had not indicated anything for herself and puts a grape juice in front of an empty chair. For himself, an actual soda. Yep, sugar and all. Given the calories they all burn doing their jobs, he's willing to splurge once in a while.

"Nope, no Knight tonight. He's off doing an inspection of one of the factories, so we're on our own." He opens Steph's pizza and steals a slice for himself as well as putting a slice on a plate for her. After taking a bite, he looks over to Jason and says, "Man, you're a lifesaver. I overslept today and I'm starving." He drops into the chair next to Steph's and unscrews the top of his soda with the usual hiss of a carbonated beverage.

"Anyone up to anything exciting lately? Things have been pretty quiet, we might just be doing our jobs too well."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown watches to see what kind of pizza Cassandra pulls from the box. "Hrm, good call, Jason," she comments to him and then flashes Cassandra an encouraging smile that is easy enough to interpret as her suggestion that Cass give it a try and see if she likes it.

On the question about training, Stephanie Brown replies, "Good. That was a really good workout. Enough to burn this off," she says with a smile as the pizza with all the meaty toppings is brought over. If it moved under its own power at some point then Stephanie is ok with it being put on a pizza.

She takes the plate from Dick with a grateful smile. "Thank you," she tells him, and then turns around a chair and sits backwards on it at the table. "Ohhh I needed this," she says as she takes a bite. She waits to finish chewing it before replying to Dick. "Made a pass through Amusement Mile before returning back up here to work out with Cass," she says. "Nothing too exciting going on. Just some petty thefts and the like."
Cassandra Cain Cass is good at reading people. Jason put a lot of thought into this food offering, and she knows that she'd be insulting him if she didn't eat some of it. So, taking the water from Dick and putting it on top of the box, Cass upnods Jason and the takes the box of health pizza, entire, from his hands.

She then pauses to scritch her right eyebrow bemusedly, and says, "Thank you," politely.

Who are you and what did you do to Cass?

She sits down, knowing that she's being spoken about but not seriously, and then takes a bite of the pizza. Her face doesn't seem to register if she's enjoying it or not, but she does take a second bite without complaint.

Sometimes it's just hard to tell if she's a robot or just weird.
Jason Todd Jason Todd glances to Steph then back to Dick, "You're both starving. Should I be concerned at the two Love Birds don't seem to be, y'know, looking after each other already?" He shakes his head with a smirk. "Eat up. But if it comes down to the last slice.." He looks to Dick, "I'm totally supporting her bid for it, not yours." Brotherly love.

He upnods back to Cass. When in Rome. "Welcome. Figured I'd keep the pineapple for myself." He seems to think that will have significance to her from the way he says it and the smirk that goes along with it.

Taking another bite, he chews, mostly, before he talks around the last of the bite. "Mmmm. Not a lot. I mean. Unless you talk about the kinda-Green-Lantern I came across at a pawn shop robbery a few weeks back to Cass. She's got trouble with her ring. 'S possessed or something. I don't know. Tim'd probably make more sense out of it than I can." Another bite. "But. Yeah. She's staying with me for a while" a pause or -that- little tidbit to sink in but not so long as to welcome disbelief or jibes back, "Ended up taking her to the Wax Museum. Figured why not show her some of the local sights while we try to figure her ring situation out."

It is reasonable that news of a kerfuffle at the museum made it past the others even if specific details were sketchy. "I did learn that reanimated and possessed wax dummy Queen Elizabeth is a real /bitch/ in a fight." A glance toward Dick, "Same with Batman and Robin." He seems less enthused about having had to battle with that particular duo.
Damian Wayne      It was around that time again, Damian returned to Gotham after spending a couple days in Metropolis. The entrance to the Batcave echoed his motorcycle and his arrival.

Parking the Redbird, Damian stepped off, and stripped the raggled cape and hood from his body. Robin's tunic had a burn hole the size of a tennis ball in it, a lovely story.

"Hey." He greeted, looking to the spread of pizzas around. "What's the occasion?" He asked, trying to remember if he forgot someone's birthday or the like.
Dick Grayson     Dick chuckles, shaking his head. "I think we'll probably survive, we're just on weird schedules." He pauses for a moment then adds, "Well, weirder than usual anyway." He takes a bite of pizza and watches Cass take her pizza and actually thank Jason for it, which earns a raised eyebrow and a look over to Steph. "I see it's not just fighting you two have been working on.

"If she's got a lantern ring on the fritz, you should probably take her over to the Hall of Justice and see if you can get in touch with one of the Lanterns. They could probably help her out."

"You do run into the strangest situations. What exactly happened in there, any idea what or who animated them? Was it her ring or something else?"

He looks over to the tunnel as the rumble of an engine swelled as the cycle got closer. Waving to Damian he replies, "Nope, dinner. Grab something to drink and join us. If you don't want pizza, Jason grabbed some sushi too."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown watches Cassandra trying the pizza. Or pizza-like veggie dish anyway. As the Asian goes back for a second bite, Stephanie flashes a smile over to Jason as if to silently tell him he did good. Steph looks to Dick and nods. "Cass' vocabulary is really coming along," she tells him.

The blond takes a big bite of her own pizza about the time that a motorcycle pulls in and Damian climbs off. "It's a new thing we're trying out, called 'dinner' in some parts," she tells Damian. "You can probably bum a slice of ours," she says, motioning towards the box with the meat lovers in it.

The talk about the ring gets a curious look from her. "A defective one? That... sounds, you know. What's the word I'm looking for? Bad? Dangerous. Dangerously bad?" she offers. "Is it safe for her to even try to use?"
Jason Todd Jason Todd nods. "Well surviving isn't exactly the best way to move forward with, y'know, the whole future. Make sure you're both eating yeah?" What's with everyone tonght? He put thought nto the pizza order. Cass thanked him for hers. And he's showing something close to proper concern for others in the family? Then Damian arrives and the neutral expression on his features seems to suggest that could have just come to a grinding halt.

"You look like hell. Come get a slice. Or two." He takes one of the paper plates and flicks it like a batarang toward Damian. There is just enough energy into the toss for it to arc toward him, easily within reach.

He glances back to Steph and Dick, "Yeah. Possessed. There's some pissed off evil sorcerer that's somehow inside Jessica's ring. He got jealous or pissed off at her when we were at the museum. Decided it'd be fun to have us fight animated wax figures. We ran into a redhead there too. Said her name was Sonja. Hell of a fighter. Other than her desire to use fire to kill the figures with. At last she didn't burn the place down."

Reflecting on the event he shrugs, "Most of this is way above my pay grade. I just shoot or beat things up" which isn't exactly inaccurate considering the source. At the suggestion about the League he nods "Yeah. She's geting advice and guidance from the Justice League Dark team. Not really sure what I'm going to be doing to help but I figure I'm already strapped into the Coaster, I may as well see where the tracks lead. Who knows. Maybe I'll learn something useful."
Damian Wayne      "Dinner? Oh. Nice." He says, taking a slice of meat lovers, idly listening to the conversation. "Faulty power rings? From what I have seen it is either okay in an emergency, or it could be very bad." At least thats what he's gathered on the subject.

The looking like hell bit from Jason gets a nod. "One of the new Titans prospects needs target practice on how to shoot lightning from his hands. Caught me yesterday with a stray bolt. And shorted out the vital sign system, sent out a flatline."

Removing his mask before he eats, Damian looks to his chest as he takes the first chews on the pizza. "And...I think I am experiencing a high school relationship...for the second time."
Dick Grayson     "Yeah, you really need to get her in touch with one of the Lanterns as well as the JLD. They'll probably need to work together on something like that. It might require someone who knows how the rings work as well as people who know how spirits work."

Dick shakes his head, "Damian, being a practice dummy is not something to aspire to" he says with a grin. "Probably gave Oracle a heart attack when your sensor flatlined. Good to see you're not badly hurt, though you do need to do a little repair work on your suit."

Damian's next statement makes the smile on his face even wider, "That's great to hear. Sounds like you're getting the hang of life outside the costume. So tell us a little about it."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie takes another bite of her pizza, giving a happy sigh. She really worked up an appetite while working out with Cassandra. She looks over to her friend, motioning towards Cass' slice of pizza and giving her a questioning look to see what she thinks of it.

"Thanks for bringing these, Jason," Stephanie tells her. "Impeccable timing." She opens up her juice and takes a long sip from it, sighing after the cool drink.

The girl's blue eyes swing back to Damian. "Wow, that's great news, Damian," she tells him, not even giving him a hard time about it. She gives him a smile and nods in agreement as Dick asks more about it."
Cassandra Cain "I eat this," Cass says. She has polished off the health nut pizza thing, nodding to herself. She looks up, then her eyes look from person to person. It's exactly what one would expect to see if a person had lost track of the conversation and was trying to catch up.

The tiny shift of her brows moves from confusion to hesitant defensiveness. She did not like letting her guard down so totally, not even here. But then she softens, almost as fast. It's all her conversational skills, which are improving. Or so she's been told. By Steph. A few minutes ago.
Jason Todd Jason Todd nods and shrugs at the same time. "Well one of the leadership with the Dark team is aware. Beyond that I, I guess I could talk to Kate from a League perspective to get word the Lanterns."

"You're welcome, Steph." Then he nods to Cass and offers an appreciative smile. "I'm glad. I tried to find something for for you. Hopefully it's more than just edible. I'll take edible though."
Damian Wayne      "I can assure you it was not intended. Hurt like a bitch. But a demon was on the loose and thanks to Balm, we sent it back to wherever it was sent from. So, I should give her my thanks." He is almost able to put his hand in the burned hole in his suit. "That's why I'm wearing this back instead of the backup suit. This one smells like ozone and sweat, too."

When the others ask about his relationship, he cannot help but blush a little. "That's the other thing...the guy that did this..." He points to the hole in the suit. "Is kind of the same guy that asked Damian Wayne out. He's a Happy Harbor student too."
Dick Grayson     Dick has done a quick job of two slices of the pizza, then finishes off his soda. "Well, I hope you said yes. It doesn't hurt to go out and see how things go between the two of you unless you already know you don't like him. Then you can have the amazing fun of explaining why you have to keep vanishing when criminals do something stupid somewhere in Gotham." He grins a little ruefully, then adds, "But seriously, even with the secret ID thing, you have to make the effort. I mean, even Bruce has been dating lately, and we had almost given up on him. And when it works out... there's just nothing better."

He looks over to Steph with a smile, "See, we can be an inspiration to the younger generation. But for now, time for me to suit up and do a run around town. Jason, thanks for dinner. Cass, keep pushing Steph to do her best, and let us know if you actually liked the pizza so we know if we should get it for you in the future." He tosses his empty bottle into the recycling bin as he stands and heads for the changing room. "All if you, have a good night and try to stay out of more trouble than you can handle."
