Owner Pose
Talia al Ghul It had taken only a little bit for Talia to confirm which assets the League had in Gotham. A little further to confirm which ones did side jobs. Reviewing the list, she had gone to pick the best. She had business in Gotham and couldn't handle every single thing personally, but some things grated on her enough to call in a specialist in.
So Talia had sent a message to Cheshire of a simple note. That hse had a job. A very, veyr well paying job for a pursue and capture.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen doesn't get calls from the League of Assassins very often, but they are one of her better customers. That, and if the League is calling in outside help, things must have gone very wrong somewhere. And she is curious.

Her gown is emerald green silk trimmed with gold embroidery. Halter neck, her arms are bare and the dress is slit well up the right for ease of movement. Long, black hair is pulled back into a tight bun, held in place with a pair of sticks. She carries a simple clutch purse, and pauses just inside to look for her contact.
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would gesture over at Jade, "Good to see you again. And thank you for coming right on time. Appreciated." Jade was among the best, even by the standards of the League of Assassins. "You do excellent work, I appreciate your availability on short notice. Join me?" She would gesture in an invite.

Politeness in her tone. Her etiquette was formal here. The other woman was doing her a great service.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen recognizes the other woman and returns the gesture with a polite smile of her own. Allowing her hostess to lead the way, Jade follows at her side. "It isn't often that your organization looks outside for assistance. This must be a very special job, indeed."
Talia al Ghul It's also one to make amends for what Talia considers a breach of her dignity. Hiring an outsider leads to a less blatant loss of face for her. "Yes. I ran into an.. Asset that has seemingly gone AWOL. Someone that's deserted, perhaps. I need them recovered."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen settles across from Talia, both brows arching with undisguised curiosity. "An assett that has gone AWOL? That is indeed a remarkable situation. I wasn't aware that your organization had such an issue. What are the terms of the recovery?
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would nod, "Yes, they need to be located and retrieved quickly. You're the best hunter." She goes to then take out a picture that look like it was taken from an optic lens. "She would continue on, "One of the Bat's proteges mentioned the name Artemis in the exchange though I'm unsure if that was her codename or other. SHe appears to be at least a partially known entity to them." Whomever was in charge of the local cell of the League was -incredibly- sloppy if they had missed a memberof the Leaguew orking with the Bat-family and not reported it.
Said picture might be very familiar to Jade.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen reaches for the picture, tilting her head a little to take a look. Her expression is one of surprise, then amusement. "Artemis is her given name." Jade declares. "I am familiar with her as well. Although I must admit that I'm curious about both her affiliation with your organization as well as the Bats." Apparently her 'Sister' got around since their parting, seven years ago.
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would glance at Jade, "You know her? Ahh." SHe would muse. "I am unsure. She was using techniques from the League and was identified as a friendly by the Bats." She would glance at Artemis. "I'm not aware of her but I know eveyrone that's been taught by the League -properly-."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen nods slowly to that, sliding the picture closer and easing it into her clutch. "I can assure you that she has been taught properly." the assassin declares. "I can also assure you that I will have no issues with this assignment. My usual rates apply."
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would nod over at Jade, "Good. I don't necessarily want her harmed. Just brought in to -explain- things. If there's a reasonable explanation for how she knows the styles of the League and is aiding the Detective, then I shall let her be. Neutralize and recover her at your discretion." She goes to take out a small card. "Half up front, half upon the transfer of the girl."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen accepts the card between index and second fingers, delicately tucking it into her clutch without looking at it. She smiles... and in that brief instant it's her trademark, bloodthirsty expression. "She will be alive and functional for your conversation."
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would smile, "Thank you, I appreciate it. You can reach me by the usual methods. I look forwards to hearing from you. Let me know if there are any additional expenses that need covered."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen inclines her head at that, closing her clutch. "Of course. As always, it's a pleasure doing business with you and your organization."

This will certainly open up the conversation that Jade and Artie have been avoiding since crossing paths after their parting 7 years ago...
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would smile, "And might I get you a drink? I can't speak for hte decor but the drinks here are acceptable." Understanding if Jade preferred not as 'on the job' so Talia would understand if not.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen's eyes brighten at that, a more normal smile settling in return. "The family atmosphere certainly discourages certain activities, to be sure." she replies. Like murder, for one. "Would you share sake with me?"
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would smile, "Of course. Would you care to order for us? I'm sure that your taste is far more refined than mine is." She would gesture over at a waiter.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen settles casually in her seat, remaining cordial if less formal now. "Of course." she replies. The waiter arrives and she starts by ordering a bottle of warm sake. The waiter does ask for a brand preference, and Jade looks pleased. After a short conversation, they settle on a brand that is for social drinking (as opposed to various types of food).
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would let Jade negotiate over, and narrow it down. "You clearly know what you like. I can appreciate that." The Demon's Daughter would smile. "And I'm sure that when this goes well I'll have much more use for your services in the future." Not 'if'.
Jade Nguyen Having concluded her conversation with the waiter, Jade dismisses him with a glance and turns her attention back to her hostess. "Life is too short not to enjoy it." she declares. "And certainly too short for sub-quality liquor with good company."
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would flash a smile, "Oh, of the many things I've been called, good company is a rare one. But thank you. I do appreciate the compliment." She would offer a crazed grin. "Then what shall we drink to?"
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen considers for only a moment. "To future ventures." she declares, when the sake arrives. The waiter pours the small, porcelain cups from the decanter before stepping away once more. Jade lifts her cup, allowing Talia her own before tossing it back.
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would raise up the glass to clink, "To future ventures." She does not ask Jade about how her other jobs are going. Thta's rather rude by mercenary etiquette. "May your targets blood run freely at your pursuit."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen refills both cups once they're emptied, also following etiquette by keeping her fingers near the base of the pitcher. And politely far away from Talia's cup. "I would add 'may you call upon me often', but that suggests issues in your organization and is also very self-serving."
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul keeps both of her hands in plain sight at all times. It's considered polite during a negotation or a parley. To add that extra split second where one had to reach for a weapon or to yank something out from a sleeve. The old ways had their logic after all.
"Why thank you for your respect for my professionalism."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen sips the second cup more slowly, green eyes bright as she replies. "I prefer not to bite the hand the hand that feeds me." One does not hold a high rank in the League simply at random. And Jade isn't reckless, no matter what opinion she has of her own skill or of Talia's.
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would laugh, "Something that not all remember. Do forgive me, but there have been a number of those of high skill that seem to forget sometime they are entrepreneurs. A lack of professionalism is bad for business."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen clicks her tongue softly. "That is what separates the professionals from the amateurs." she replies, clearly placing herself in the former category. "Tell me, if you would. Has this Artemis done anything else to earn your attention?"
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would tap her lip for a moment, "She displayed skils taught by the League, but she is not a member or associate that I'm aware of." And Talia is aware of -everything- the League does. "I gave her the chance to explain herself and she fled. She needs to be -taught- to not repeat such discourtesies. Because I am in Gotham and she is on good grounds with the Detective's Sentinels, I must do so lightly. But whom better to send a message than you?"
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen nods slowly, sipping the liquor while she listens. Nothing directly out of bounds, no 'poaching' of targets or encroaching of territory. Certainly nothing that Artie could not survive, if she only could keep her mouth shut.

Talia is not the only one who is curious, as well.

"That is why I asked about the terms. But I can see that you are a reasonable woman."
Talia al Ghul this is a lesson in respect to be given to a mouthy upstart. Nothing too serious. "I hope that she learns from this and in turn takes it in the stride that it is intended to be. Presuming hse cooperates, I should have no further grievances to settle."
Jade Nguyen "That is, of course, between the two of you. When I bring her to you she will have no choice but to cooperate, or at least to listen." Jade replies casually. Whether Artie is capable of listening is another matter entirely.
Talia al Ghul Jade's beign paid to bring her in, not to make her talk. That's for Talia to enjoy! "Thank you. I'm sure that you will do it in short order. Then, when I have an explanation I finda cceptable.." SHe's not asking how Jade is familiar with Artemis. That's considered rude.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen smiles and nods at that. And no, she isn't offering any freebies, either. She's being paid for action, not for information. "The business of your house is your own." she replies.
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would laugh, "Yes, yes it is. And rather formal are we?" Her tone is playful. She's only taken some of the simmering, sweet sake so she must be incredibly amused.
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen tilts her head at that, chuckling as well. "I am always formal when discussing business." she replies. "But I am not always formal." She keeps their cups refilled while they talk, as well. "Are you often in Gotham?" Cheshire is known to be a global operator, herself.
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would shake her head, "No, not in some time. I had some.. Personal business to attend to and while I'm present it seems a good time to attend to other affairs as well." She would fold her hands together. Taking another appreciative sip. "Something this sloppy needs tended to immediately after all."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen nods once more. "Of course. But I thought we were relaxing formality now." she replies. "I have several cities that I am fond of, around the globe. Gotham and New York are but two, and for very different reasons."
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would nod, "Oh? Is that something you prefer to go into or not?" Nothing official after all. "Gotham has it's little nuances. I do enjoy the architecture."
Jade Nguyen "Oh, Gotham has a certain... rich decadance about it. While New York represents much that is bright and new and fashionable. In many ways they are similiar, yet so very different."
Talia al Ghul Talia al Ghul would mm, "Yes, it does have it's sense of depravity and decadence. It's unique in how deep the festering sore goes. It's almost fascinating, like it's ingrained here." she would muse distantly. "Like the major cities each cater to different tendencies of humanity."
Jade Nguyen Jade Nguyen smiles at that. "True. Each has their own, unique vices. And some even have certain virtues to balance. Americans like to believe that they are virtuous and that vices are more prominent in less-developed countries. But it is, in fact, quite the opposite."
