Clark Kent     In the early evening, Bruce and Diana both get messages on their Justice League comms. It's a fairly terse message from Superman. *Please meet me at the Hall. Need to give you both some info.* Kal isn't one for long texts.

When each of you arrives, you're directed into one of the conference rooms that the three of you usually use for League business. Superman is sitting at the table, but rises to greet each of you as you arrive. "Thanks for coming, I've got some info I need to share with the two of you." He gestures to the seats around the table, returning to the seat he had been in.
Bruce Wayne Bruce is often reluctant to leave Gotham these days, and even inviations to League events and meetings are either not attended in person or not attended at all. However, whatever serious subtext lays beneath the message prompts him to make the trip across Delaware Bay himself and visit the Hall of Justice in person. As usual, he doesn't arrive through the front and he pays little attention to the members of staff who tell him where to go. He simply moves like a long, forbidding shadow down the halls.

Stepping into the conference hall, he doesn't sit down. He never does. Instead, he stands behind the chair emblazoned with his stylized bat-emblem and narrows white eyelets at Clark in expectant silence.
Diana Prince Diana was in Metropolis for the upcoming Thanksgiving week. With plans on Monday for some charity event here at the Hall, she had much to get in order before it occurrs. Thus she's not far away when the message is sent, and she arrives with little fanfare.

Diana is not in 'costume' tonight, she's in a black leather jacket, with a white sweater beneath it, her hair is tied back in to a loose ponytail, clipped with a silver adornment. Red hued lipstick, and light makeup offer a smoky edge to her appearance as she strides through the doors and smiles at the sight of Clark / Kal.

"Hello." Diana says in her kind voice as she reaches the table and slips in to one of the chairs. Her hands drop down to her black slacks as she sits with a straight fine etiquette to her posture. Of course her eyes have to dance over to the Batman, when he arrives too. He also gets a smile, whether he likes it or not.

"What is on your mind?" Diana then asks, her brown eyes dancing back over to Superman then.
Clark Kent     Kal starts right into it. He knows Batman at least won't want a bunch of mundane chat before the actual business. "Last night I was contacted by a childhood friend, Pete Ross, who happens to now be the Deputy Secretary of Defense. If you both recall, last year there was that big mess with SHIELD that ended up exposing a number of HYDRA agents in the government. There was a major purge at all levels of the government to try and get rid of any HYDRA presence."

"According to Pete, somebody was missed. He's seeing soviet era projects pulled out of mothballs in secret, money being moved around behind the scenes, the same kind of thing the HYDRA agents were doing before the purge. He was quite clear that the level of what was being done narrowed the list of suspects to six. The problem is, those six are himself, his boss Secretary of Defense Pierce, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Polster, Vice Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Banker, and Under Secretary of Defence for Intelligence and Security Wayne-Brooks, Vice President Weathers and President Luthor."
Bruce Wayne Batman keeps quiet as the information is given, letting the gears turn in his head. It isn't until Superman finishes describing the problem at hand that he gives any indication that he heard at all, his head tipping forward into a faint nod.

"Assuming that we narrowed it down to the guilty party," he offers in his usual flat, deep tone, "What's your and Mr. Ross' plan? Wrap the President up in a lamp post and leave him for the police?"

Gloved hands rise up to the grip the back of his chair.

"I agree with your sentiments, Clark, but Diana is a foreign national and I'm a wanted felon. If we start throwing our weight around against the government, regardless of their intentions, that's opening a Pandora's Box that you can't necessarily close."

A moment of silence.

"Obviously, I'm in. I'll start investigating immediately."
Diana Prince A look is given from one of them, to the other, as they exchange words. Diana draws a breath in then as her hands come up to rest on the edge of the table, her fingertips fan against the polished wood lightly just once. "Where did this information come from?" She asks Superman.

"If it is something we can truly believe in the source of, we could also just ... release it publicly, and anonymously. Place it across the internet without any intention other than to show that something nefarious may be taking place, and that it is known, and seen. That might... alone... make them think twice about believing they are acting with impunity."
Clark Kent     Nodding, Kal replies "I know we're not well set up to handle something like this. That's why I've already given the information to Captain America. He knows who in SHIELD can be trusted with something this hot, but I also wanted you and your people to poke around Bruce. Between you and Oracle, I'm hoping you might find something in all the computer records. If you do, we'll pass the info on to the good Captain, since he and his people are in a good position to deal with this."

He pulls a thumb drive from a flat compartment on his belt and slides it over in front of Batman's chair. "This is all the information Pete gave me. I made a copy so that we and SHIELD could each have it."

He looks to Diana and says "We don't want to let them know we're on to them or they'll either bolt or cover their tracks. Best for now that we keep quiet and let the investigations run. I mainly wanted you in the loop because you're someone I can trust implicitly. If the bad guys find out Pete shared this, he'll be in danger and will need a rescue, so I wanted you in the loop."
Bruce Wayne "And he's a product of government over-reach himself," Batman says of Captain America, "And not someone I'd trust to throw it under the bus when the truth comes out, if it turns out this is more than just a rogue individual. I'm keeping my own findings between us for the time being. When it's time to pull the trigger, we'll discuss who holds the gun."

He takes the thumb drive as soon as it is within reach, and in the same moment it's gone. Concealed somewhere on his person.

"I agree with Diana's method in principle. Once we have the information we need, we should turn a light on them and watch them scurry. They'll lead us back to whatever support networks they have and we can tear it out at the root."
Diana Prince Diana is quiet as Kal and Batman make their voices heard. She drops her hands back on to her lap then and takes a moment to lean back on her chair that is inscribed with her own insignia. She sweeps her gaze from one man to the other before she dips her chin then in a singular nod.

"Fair enough." She says. "Once you believe the proper amount has been discovered... we can do as we must to ensure the truth spreads across the globe. I... can say... after the events with the space ship from Lex's corporation... I do feel something bad is happening. The amount of radiation that was coming from that ship.... mm. But, I do not know if these things are connected, I just know that I have a foul feeling about that, and now this, in a short space of time from one another."
Clark Kent     Superman shakes his head, chuckling ruefully "Only you would be suspicious of Captain America, Batman. He's involved because he and SHIELD are in a position to deal with this, since they are not, as you pointed out, felons or foreign nationals trying to take down one or more of the most powerful people in the government."

"Diana, do you have a couple Amazons you could station near Pete's home? If he calls with an emergency, it isn't likely he'll have the time to wait for us to arrive from wherever we might be at the time. They'd need to stay out of sight, as for the moment at least we're playing the 'nothing to see here' game until we have more solid info. And yes, I am also wondering of the shuttle and this are in any way related. The information does show money being shuffled around to some space contractor firms."
Bruce Wayne Bruce says nothing to the comment about not trusting Captain America. The majority of the people he trusts who aren't part of his extended family are in this room, after all.

"Lex Luthor is a violent, grasping thug," he offers with a curl of his lip, "So convinced of his own intellectual superioriy that he no longer believes he's capable of wrong-doing. If you think he's got ulterior motives, Diana, then I suggest you follow that thread. I don't know that I believe he's responsible for what's happening with these re-commissioned HYDRA projects, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have his own agenda."
Diana Prince "We have fifty Amazons assigned to the Embassy and Arts Center here in the United States now. We are expecting up to one hundred by Spring. Of course... that depends on a few factors, but yes... ultimately, I do have the personel now to assign two to his location. Just send me where, and I will see it done." She relays to Kal before her eyes jump back over to Batman.

She shows him another faint smile then. "Well... short of wrapping him in the lasso, I am not sure that Luthor would be so willing to divulge any information to me, but if this money is connected to his space interests... then it seems as though it is all coming together on its own. With a bit of digging from you, Batman, as well as your talented family, I am eager to see what you come up with..."
Clark Kent     "Thank you both. As I told the Captain, if these HYDRA folks attacked with a giant robot, I'd know what to do. Unless that happens, I'll rely on Batman and his people for investigation, and on the strength of the Amazons to keep Pete safe. I don't want him hurt for doing the right thing."

He glances between the two of you, then asks, "While we're all in one place, did either of you have any League related business to deal with?"
Bruce Wayne As one might expect, Batman is not there when Clark asks his question. Instead, the chair has rotated slightly to the left. The Dark Knight has disappeared into the shadows with his mission in hand.
Diana Prince Diana's senses are well enough attuned to the area around her to know that Batman has done what Batman does. Thusly her eyes just go to Kal and she smiles at him softly as she moves to rise up to her feet again.

"You are cordially invited to join us on Monday here, outside, offering Thanksgiving dinners to drivers who stop by. It is a way for the League to help, even just a little, those who need a bit of help this holiday. Beyond that... I believe things are in good order, as far as things /can/ go though." She says with a small smile upon her red hued lips.

"It's good to see you too." She softly adds for him in that sincere, warm, way of hers.
Clark Kent     "I'll do my best to be here then. I'd much prefer to be helping some folks who need food over getting in fights with criminals." He smiles and stands back up. "I'll let you get back to your business and I'll send you the info for the guards. SHIELD might have some nearby too, so I'll make sure everyone knows who is who so the guards don't end up fighting each other instead of the bad guys." He holds the door for her as he goes to leave the room, his polite upbringing showing as usual.
