Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan had been told that she should get out more. And with that she took it that they meant that she needed to spend more time at school. So here she was! Having office hours. It wasn't like a blind lady was going to go have fun when she couldn't see. She was dressed in jeans, boots and a sweater given it was after school hours. It was just easier to not be walking around in heels.

The door to her office is open and the twins are just exiting. Delia looks completely annoyed at her brother and Declan just rolls his eyes. "I saw that!" Morrigan calls out the doorway. Inside behind the desk there is Riordan chilling in his dog form and snoring a bit.
Tommy Shepherd     At the beginning of his stay at Happy Harbor, Tommy surely ended up in the Headmistress's office a time or two. He's not as much a terror as the twins, though.

Now, at least. Back when he was in his early teens is another story, though.

He's waiting outside the office when the twins appear, and he looks up from his phone just long enough to confirm that the way is clear. And crack a smile at Morrigan's joke. The repurposed takeout container that he brings in with him is set down on Morrigan's desk, and he taps it before saying, "Chocolate chip cookies at your, uh... eleven--no, one o'clock."

And then he takes a seat. "I made them myself, in my new oven! That I own!" Except he clears his throat. "Well, rent, technically."
Morrigan MacIntyre "Hello Tommy." Morrigan states with a smile as she hears the tapping. She can probably see him, somehow. "Thank you for the cookies. They smell delicious." she tells him. She does set them over to the side though, so she doesn't try to knock them off.

"Did you move into your own place?" she asks him curiously. "I wasn't sure what plans you were going to have after finishing school here. So thought I'd check in with you on that down the line. Or can talk on it today." the Irish woman states.

"What can we do for you?" she asks with a smile.
Tommy Shepherd     "Hi, Doctor MacIntyre," Tommy responds, because yeah, greetings, those are important. He rubs the back of his neck and then makes a move to tuck his leg up underneath him in his chair, but he cuts himself off half-way through and forces his feet back flat to the ground.

At her question, Tommy nods to Morrigan. "Yeah, over the weekend. Just finished getting all of my furniture thanks to a couple of friends helping me pick things out." He blows out a breath upwards that ruffles the chaotic spill of hair over his forehead.

"Yeah, about that... I mean, I don't have plans. I make enough between deliveries and courier services to live on my own, so that's what I'm gonna do. Just sucks that I'm not gonna be here any more, I guess."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan smiles as she hears the news on his place and there's a nod to him, "The first move out is sometimes scary...or liberating if you've never been on your own before. I trust that you'll let us know if you need anything for the apartment or anything like that?" she offers. Rio gives a bit of a snore from the side of the desk and Morrigan shakes her head, "He's had a long day of doing nothing." she whispers.

"Well, what do you have planned for college or classes?" she asks him. "You're always welcome to be a teacher's assistant or work on something here at the school. We don't really just kick our graduates out and then never see them again." she admits.
Tommy Shepherd     Tommy nods back out of habit, and his attention drifts away, his focus on some invisible point on the wall. "It's my first place, yeah. After they reversed my sentencing, I never thought I'd... you know..." He makes a loose gesture to their surroundings, only to realize that isn't helpful, so he adds, "I didn't think I'd make it. Have a chance at actually getting my diploma."

Even admitting that is a lot, for Tommy. He's got a motor mouth because what speedster doesn't, but it's never serious. And yet here he is, being very serious business indeed. "Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for taking me in and giving me a chance. I don't think I'm gonna go to college," and he laughs a little bit at that. "Just not for me. More my brother's thing, I think, if he can stop obsessing about superheroes long enough. But..." His feet shuffle against the floor, another aborted fidget. "I don't know how I could be useful, but if there's something I can do for Happy Harbor to repay your kindness, I'd do it."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan gives a nod of understanding to him, "Honestly a lot of kids think that they won't make it. That's why we are here. We need to be able to make sure that everyone has equal footing and if they need extra help we can give it." she states. "And I'm annoying enough that if I have to go track students down I'll do it." she chuckles.

When he thanks her there's a softer look that settles over her face, "You never have to thank me. I'm glad that I've gotten to meet each and every student that comes through here. You all deserve a chance. As well as second and third chances." she states. "Brother?" she quirk an eyebrow at that. Then there is a laugh, "There is a lot of superhero obsession around these parts." she muses to that. She thinks for a moment, "Are there any classes that you really liked here at the school?" she asks him.
Tommy Shepherd     "Guess I'm one of those kids who needed the second and third chances." It feels weird to call himself a kid, but Tommy knows he still is, deep down. Renting your own apartment does not just automatically qualify you for adulthood, even when you're paying outrageous New York City prices. He laughs too, quietly.

And then his shoulders hike upwards. Right. Kind of hard to explain the whole brother thing. "Sort of a separated-at-birth situation," he says. "But he lives in Manhattan. It's been nice, getting to know him." That's probably not too much information. Tommy hopes so, at least.

He sits there for a long moment after the question as he tries to remember all of the classes he's taken over the past year or so.

Math is right out; it's his most hated subject, even though he doesn't have much trouble with the actual coursework. Nothing from any of the non-English language courses he's taken has ever managed to stick around in his brain, and English itself is pretty miserable (the standard list of high school reading has been a real struggle for him to get through). The science and history stuff both bore him to near tears for very different reasons, and you'd think gym would be his favorite... but watching a dodgeball sail at you in slow-motion gets old real fast.

Basically, Tommy's just not cut out for education, though he's pushing through anyway.

"I liked the home ec stuff we did. Like, the cooking and baking and the... you know, boring life stuff." He clutches his arms with opposite hands, his body language starting to close off. "But I've worked in food service before. Made pizzas before I switched over to deliveries. Milkshakes. Did a couple of opening shifts at a bakery before the odd hours started to get to me."
Morrigan MacIntyre "He's a twin? That's fascinating." Morrigan admits. "I was an only child. It sucked." she muses to that. "Plus I was nocturnal, so I was never with kids. Just...I don't know." she shakes her head. "I'm glad that you got to meet him and that you're making up for lost time." she states. She seems to be fine with letting Tommy guide the conversation.

She does give a smile when he talks on cooking, "I will have you know that cooking and baking are some of the most entertaining and relaxing things that you can do." she states. "I actually bake and cook to relieve stress. I used to send my ex home with all kinds of food." she chuckles. Then there's a sad look, but it fades away quickly. "We could always see if the home ec teacher would like to take on an assistant and see about getting you set up towards a teaching certificate for cooking or similar?" she offers. "Culinary classes aren't too bad." she adds.
Tommy Shepherd     "Yeah. Identical," Tommy confirms. He falls silent after, considering her offer... well, offers. Morrigan's just made multiple, and if she were anyone else, he'd probably be more than a little suspicious.

After a few moments, he exhales, and then says, "Yeah, sure. I mean, I already run groceries around, so I could help out with that. I'm not sure if I'll like cooking if it's a real job and not just something I do for fun, but I promise I'll give it a chance."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan gives a smile, "If you ever want to bring him around school just let us know." she tells him. Then there is a nod to him, "You don't have to decide anything right now. We've got holiday break coming up and even after that we'll let you make the call. I just want to make sure that we have you set for something post graduation. And I love that some of the students are wanting to stay connected in ways other than just being an Alumni." she admits. "I can also email some things that you can look over during break." she points out.

Then she reaches down when Rio shifts and puts his head up on the desk, looking sleepily at Tommy and then to Morrigan, "We should take a dinner break. Working to hard here." he chuffs out.

Morrigan laughs at that. "I don't think I have anyone else to speak with this evening. It was good to talk to you, Tommy. And again, just let me know if you need anything. Really." she states.
Tommy Shepherd     Tommy doesn't have an immediate reply, and then of course Riordan's head popping up over the top of the desk stalls him further. Yeah, uh, of course!" he says as he rises to his feet. "Thanks, Doctor MacIntyre. I'll keep all that in mind."

Once standing, he shoves his hands into his pockets and shuffles his way out of the office. "See you tomorrow!" he calls out, and then as his stomach rumbles to remind him that he, too, needs a dinner break, Tommy takes off at a run towards Brooklyn and home.
