Owner Pose
Bruce Wayne Saturdays were days for relaxation, fun and errands for the typical people of the world. The routine around here was slightly different. Both Austin and Phoebe were informed this morning at breakfast that they would be enduring some sparring time with Bruce later. They at least had some time to warm up and fair warning about it.

Bruce stands near the training area wearing jogging sweats and a tanktop with his feet left bare on the cold flooring. It looks as if he had already been warming up while waiting for the pair to arrive for their lessons.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe comes down from the manor, her hair wrapped in an orange head-wrap, wearing a gray work-out top that shows the scarring on her left shoulder from last October's sordid events, and bare feet showing the pale spots about her toes. She had earbuds in, and was nodding her head to the music when she spots Bruce, and she purses her lips.

And she pulls out her earbuds.

"So... this is gonna be an in-person lesson then?" she asks, looking surprised.
Austin Reese Austin had taken advantage of the chance to warm up, but had come on down to the mat, wearing a pair of gym shorts and an underarmor shirt. He seems a bit surprised as well when Bruce is there, though he looks over at Phoebe, "Certainly looks like it."
Bruce Wayne At the surprise of the pair Bruce actually has to regard them a moment. A deeply drawn breath is taken as he bolsters his price to admit, "It seems I have been lacking in your training after all. It was brought to my attention recently that I've not provided as much interaction as I ought to." Did he realy just admit to a fault? It's not something he does often. "This is long over due then."

A hand swings out to gesture toward Phoebe. "You have five minutes to warm up and stretch out. I can start with Austin. I should see how you botn are for myself, personally."
Austin Reese Austin does grin, ever so slightly, as he steps out onto the mat as he looks over towards Phoebe, "Don't worry I'll go easy on him so there'll still be some left for you."

He knows full well he's PROBABLY going to pay for that after the words come out of his mouth, but it was too good of a chance for a joke to pass up.
Phoebe Beacon     "Nah fam, I'm good, I just came back from watching Christmas Imps explode all over Hellboy and Talia. Had to magically remove the glitter." she states, explaining her warmed-up-ness as she throws a few loose punches.

"However I kinda wish I had popcorn for this."
Bruce Wayne "Magical glitter." That was a new one to Bruce. Phoebe is regarded with a studious look to just make sure she wasn't still glittery at all. The last thing he needed was a be-glittered Batman while out on duty. Satisfied that didn't seem to be the current case he returns his attention toward Austin. Both eyebrows raise at his over-confidence even if it does bring a smirk of amusement to him.

"Suit yourself." Without warning, as soon as Austin is on the mat, Bruce lunges in with a sweeping kick intending to knock him on his butt. If he wasn't fast enough at least.
Austin Reese "Magical glitter? I'm kind of glad I avoided that one." Austin replies to Phoebe, though her comment about popcorn makes him chuckle. He does hope he can put on a show. But that moment of distraction by Phoebe apparently is more than enough.

The kick is so fast, even if Austin had been prepared for it, he probably still would have gotten hit. The low sweep does knock him off his feet, causing him to wind up on his butt, but he quickly rolls backwards and gets back up onto his feet.

For a brief moment there's a flash of a memory of back when he was still with his gang, of them joking about fighting Batman. Most of them figured they'd never even be worth that level of attention. The fact that he's doing it now just makes him happy he got to do it.

But that thought is only a moment, as he plants his right foot and pushes back towards Bruce, trying to close the little gap he made with his backwards roll and try to hit Bruce with a knee to the abdomen as he closes the gap.
Phoebe Beacon     "I was studying when I heard about it. Wanted to make sure it was legit, but I guess Talia came across it and Hellboy's organization was alerted to the heightened ambient magic. I thought it might be gremlins. Turned out to be so much worse. They kinda exploded into red, green and gold glitter and of course, it got everywhere." Phoebe states, watching with a practiced eye, hopping up onto a handly outcropping of rock in the cave to watch the two.
Bruce Wayne The quick recovery by Austin earns a upnod of approval from Bruce. One of those subtle gestures that he sometimes gives without having to outright say they did something good. It was just beginning of the spar. Who knew where it would end up?

Bruce responds to the knee without thinking. His weight shifts to one foot on which he pivots to the side so that it misses a full impact. His open hand swings up to smack at Austin between the shoulder blades to push him through with his own momentum.

The intended counter attack doesn't hit as hard as he'd intended when Phoebe mentions a particular name. "Talia? What was she doing there?" His voice has gone suddenly gruff as he questions. Splitting his attention between the two he immediately remarks to Austin, "Have you run into her as well? It seems she's making herself more visible lately."
Austin Reese The blow to the back reminds Austin that he needs to work on being ready for his attacks to not impact. After all not everybody's going to be an untrained goon. He grunts as he stumbles forward, taking a second to shake it off.

He shakes his head in response to the question, "No I haven't run into her. At least not her proper. I have seen some of the ninjas around. Both the League and the Hand." He pauses for a second, "And I had a run-in with a mutant the other night too." All the talk of ninjas reminded him of the fox one he had seen.

Seeing that Bruce has been trying to split his attention between him and Phoebe, Austin takes advantage of that to rush in and close the gap, aiming to throw an elbow strike, which is a feint as he instead comes around with a hooking punch from his right hand, trying to see if he can catch Bruce off guard with it.
Phoebe Beacon     "Talia's been in and out of the University haunting me for information about Damian. I mostly just said that he's a very happy normal boy." Phoebe recounts from her spot on the wall, her lips pursing. "She happened to show up when this all was going on and was actually super helpful lobbing alchemist's fire at some of the imps. She got covered in their glitter-innards though." she recounts, watching as Austin takes his chance.

She purses her lips. This was going to be painful, either way.
Bruce Wayne There were times that even Bruce needed a reminder to focus. While he had years of experience it was on occasion those who weren't as experienced that were harder to tell the reactions of. The elbow strike is dodged leading him right into the right hook. It snaps his head to the side from the impact. If anyone was used to being beat up it was him.

Bruce brings his own fist up in toward Austin's exposed side for a quick kidney punch. Just a light jab as he does remember to pull the full weight of it. If Austin were quick he might even avoid it entirely.

"Hnn. We spoke recently. She's quite interested in keeping an eye on Damian. I may need to speak to her again."

"You're getting better, Austin."
Austin Reese To be honest, Austin is actually a bit surprised when he does land the punch. Which leaves him nice and wide open for that tap to the kidney, making him wince in surprise. Thankfully it was a pulled punch, so it'll probably just bruise.

He does use that as a chance to give himself soem space though, as he hops back a couple of steps, "Thanks." He replies, before he reaches a hand back to rub his side where he got hit, "Gotta remember to protect that side though." He says, taking a second to get back into a defensive stance.
Phoebe Beacon     Austin's surprised, Phoebe gives a cheer for Austin to hit, and then a visible wince at the kidney-tap. Ooh, that'll bruise.

She rests her chin on her knees as she considers.

"She figured out who I was pretty straight away and followed me around for a bit. Awkward."
Bruce Wayne Bruce Wayne moves back to an at ease stance as Austin recovers. Lifting a hand he gestuers at him with a single shake of his head. "Yes you need to watch how you leave yourself open for counter attacks. You should also review the best striking points on the body to learn where to attack as well as what you need to defend on yourself. That will be enough for now." He wasn't intending to run them down into the mats.

"Phoebe, you really should have mentioned this sooner. Austin, keep an eye out for Talia while at college as well. You and Phoebe are each others back ups while there. The rest of us may take longer than necessary to respond. I'm also concerned if there's been an uptick in League activity lately. According to Talia she was here without her fathers' consent. She could be lying." That was something he had to consider. "Until we know for certain if she has something else planned besides checking up on Damian, I want you two to keep an eye out for one another."
Austin Reese Austin drops his hands back down to his side, and then bows to Bruce after the hand signal is given, "I'll make sure to work on it." He says, as he steps off the mat towards where Phoebe is, "I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her now that I know she's showing up on campus." He's always checking in on Phoebe while they're there, but somehow must have missed this whole thing with Talia. Which makes him feel like he needs to re-double his efforts.
Phoebe Beacon     "I feel like I wrote a note about it when it first happened. Maybe it got lost on the fridge." Phoebe remarks, and she stretches her shoulder, wiggling her fingers at Austin and allowing for a fist-tap for a tap-in.

"Could be worse. Instead of pumping me for information on Damian's happiness, she could have actually made me *lie*. I'm a horrible liar." Phoebe quips, and then hops off her chunk of rock.

Phoebe does not know that people are checking up on her all the time. She would probably be way more paranoid if she knew.
