Evan Sabahnur     It's a fairly typical evening in the rec room, a couple kids playing pool, others on one of the video game consoles. A few more are scattered about talking or grabbing a snack.

And over on one of the couches sits a grey skinned young man with a laptop right where the name says, on his lap. He's typing away at it fairly steadily, which seems to be having some sort of effect on an object in one of the windows he has open. It seems to have his entire attention focused on it.
Eabha Aine It had only been about a week ago that Eabha Aine joined the other students at Xavier's School for the Gifted, though really they thought the name should be more like 'Xavier's School for Mutants'. They hadn't really wanted to change schools, but their inability to control their powers had led them to move in. So far it hadn't been nearly as bad as they had thought it would be, in fact a lot of the students here, even the younger kids, were really nice and cool to be around.

Carrying with her a satchel in which they kept their musical note pad with the song Eabha was working on, they meandered into the rec room so see if anything interesting was happening. Rumors of the fun that could be had spread through the classes like fire through a dry field, something about awesome video game battles, games of pool, binge watching of shows, all of these things sounding rather interesting and entertaining.

Pausing for a moment to look around the room, determining who was doing what and which thing would interest them, a small fight took place in their head.

-{"I want to play pool," Aine said with a mental foot stomp.

"Tough, I want to meet the guy on the couch," Eabha replied, even as the right foot took a step toward the couch.

"Fine, but I get to play pool later!" Aine snorted and the left foot followed.

Anyone watching would suspect nothing, hear nothing, see only the slight hesitation of the left side of their body before they made their way to the couch.

"Hi!" Eabha said cheerfully with a bright smile and her right hand extended toward the young man. "We're Eabha Aine, we're new here."
Evan Sabahnur     Evan taps a final line on the laptop before looking up, perhaps a bit surprised that someone had actually come over to talk to him. He wasn't exactly snubbed or anything, but he tended to have his nose in a book or computer most of the time. Some of it is needed, as he's in advanced classes in almost every subject the school offers, but some is just habit from when he was around 'normal' kids. He's no longer got a reason to distance himself, but years of a habit are hard to overcome.

And she was really pretty, so he was a bit unsure why he was the one she was going out of her way to address. At his old school, this would have been the setup for a prank, but he's trying to overcome the instinctive urge to close himself off. And so...

A bit unsure, he takes the offered hand while saying, "I'm Evan, and me too, just arrived at the start of the school year. So I guess I have a few months on you. And where's the other person you were referring to?"
Eabha Aine As they shook Evan's hand, the twins looked him over and the smile remained in place on their shared face. He wasn't a bad looking kid, even if he was grey. That part of his mutation made him really unique and honestly, one of the first 'out there' mutants they'd ever seen.

-{"Moron. I told you not to refer to us as we in front of other people," Aine sniped with a dark tone. "Go a head, try to explain it."

"Why are you always such a bi..." Eabha began, but stopped herself from fully engaging. This was the sort of debate the two of them could have later.
}-

"It's ah... a mutation thing," Eabha said aloud, clearly ready to explain. Taking her right hand back she plopped herself on the couch beside him, no hesitation, no waiting for an offer, just joining him like they were already the best of friends.

"The best way to sum it up is this um," she continues as she fishes into the satchel with her right hand to pull out a cell phone, meanwhile the left hand is moving to rest on her hip in a 'get on with it' sort of gesture. "Here, take a look at this."

On the phone screen is a picture of Eabha and Aine when they were conjoined twins, clearly she has no shame or embarrassment over this. "That's us before we um... how did they word it," a brief pause, no change in the voice but the left hand gestures toward the right with the picture. "Right, merged... we merged into one body."
Evan Sabahnur     Evan nods as she explains, looking at the picture when it is offered. "That's an interesting mutation. I take it both of you are still in there since you used 'we' to introduce yourself."

He looks a bit surprised when she sits down next to him, but politely moves the laptop onto the coffeetable in front of the couch so that he can give her his full attention.

"Given your ages in that picture, I assume this happened just recently? It's a bit late for most mutants, but I understand how strange it can be. I was a kind of late bloomer myself. I mean, I always looked like this, but I was never able to do anything unusual before last year."
Eabha Aine After shutting the phone off, the right hand slides it back into the satchel and all of Eabha Aine's attention is back on Evan. They were trying to figure out if the black on his face was makeup, or natural, without actually reaching over and touching him.

"We were tenish when it happened," they explain with a slight shrug. "But yes, we are both in here. Sometimes it's just me, Eabha, doing the talking and sometimes it's just Aine... there are very slight differences that our parents picked up on, so they figured out who was talking, etc. but it's usually the both of us all the time."

The curiosity finally gets the better of Aine, so it is the left hand that reaches up and touches the black lines leading from Evan's lips along his cheek. Instantly the knowledge that it isn't some kind of paint is known, but Eabha's hand, the right side is already reaching to grab the left hand.

"Aine, stop that!" Eabha admonishes as she yanks the left hand back. "Sorry about that Evan, she was... no excuse, you don't just touch people..."
Evan Sabahnur     Evan blinks when she reaches over and touches his cheek, too surprised to even pull away. Watching her scold herself however, makes him laugh a little. "Ok, I could see where this shared body thing could lead to some epic arguments. And don't worry too much, people have been doing that for as long as I can remember."

He seems to be relaxing a little, the stiffness with which he was holding himself melting away as they talk. So much so that he actually asks her the next question that comes to mind. "So, any idea what you want to do with yourselves after you finish school?"
Eabha Aine Eabha Aine hears the laughter and his comment, but the two hands are still having some kind of argument, fingers smacking at each other, which really looks off but apparently it happens often enough they consider it normal.

"She still should of asked," Eabha finally says before the left hand actually flips the right one off and shoves itself in the pocket of the jeans they are wearing.

"We argue all the time, it just mostly takes place in our head," Eabha continues, as Aine is officially pouting and not involving herself... in fact the left eye closes in protest against everything. "Or you know... that," she gestures toward the now closed eye.

A soft sigh is heard and then Eabha just carries on as if none of that took place. "We're models," she states with a gesture from the right hand to themself. "Been one for about five years now, and we intend to continue modeling and break into acting..... in fact, we are going to be in an up coming movie, The Count of Monte Cristo!"

Bouncing on the couch, well the right side does anyway, the smile on her face broadens, the left side seeming to cooperate. "We have to learn how to get uh... well... we sort of have a couple new powers that are hard to control, so we're here to learn how to do that... but we still get to do the movie, if of course we manage to not shake our room, the mansion or anything else for a while."
Evan Sabahnur
Evan takes this info in, yes, they are more than pretty enough to model, but he's still not entirely sure why he's the one they chose to talk to. He shoves the insecurity into a closet and locks the door, because he does not have to be expecting a mean prank every time he turns around these days. Xavier's is a very different environment, an oasis for mutants you might say.

He nods, saying "Modelling and a movie, that's pretty cool. Most people would give their right arm for that kind of chance. You're pretty lucky, even if you don't always agree with yourself." with a smile.

"Sounds like you must have awakened a fairly serious power if you're worried about shaking the whole mansion. What is it that you're working on?"
Eabha Aine Eabha Aine had always been social, even before their merging into one body. Because of their unique upbringing, they looked at the world a little differently. Sure, they got that most people would look at Evan and think nerd, well mutant nerd to be exact, but to the twins he was just another teenager with an interesting story to share.

"Truth? We've been very lucky our whole lives," they admit, and finally the twins were working together again as a sort of peace fell over them. It was rare, but sometimes they actually agreed. The left eye opened to join in looking at Evan.

"As conjoined twins we sort of lived in our own world," they continued, shifting a little on the couch to get more comfortable. "Sure, we were part of the big world and if you go on the internet you'll find interviews and all kinds of videos from our childhood. It gave us a different perspective than most people might have. We know that many out there considered us a freak of nature, even before we became mutants. They wondered why our parents didn't separate us. Simple answer... they were going to wait until we were old enough to decide for ourselves if that's what we wanted."

They take a moment for silence, inner thinking between the two of them before the smile dances back into place. "Yes, we've been lucky... as for what we're working on..." they look around for a moment, needing something small. It was explained that practice with a small item was best. Spotting a plastic cup on the end table by the couch, she focuses on it, scrunches up her face in concentration and after a minute, manages to lift it off the table with their telekinesis. It hovers for thirty seconds before the couch starts to shake. With a small hiss, they instantly stop, letting the cup fall back onto the table and the couch stops shaking.

"Does that explain it?" they ask almost sheepishly.
Evan Sabahnur     Nodding, Evan says "Well, I could certainly understand that. Conjoined twins are rather a rarity, so yeah, you were kind of in the spotlight your whole lives, weren't you? There's always people interested in anything different or strange." He pauses a moment, then adds, "Not that I'm calling you strange, just tossing it out there as a category."

After the power demonstration, he nods, "So, telekinesis, but with power bleed if you keep it going for too long. Yeah, I could see that being a problem."

"Fortunately, this is probably the best place you could possibly be to learn more about your abilities while still being an actual school at the same time. From what I've seen, this place can prepare you for just about anything you want to do once you graduate."
Eabha Aine Leaning a touch closer, Eabha Aine sort of whispers, "Want to know a little secret?" before they look around at the no one else in the room, as if there were people there. "We've always been in the spot light, in one way or another, and we kinda like it that way."

They wink, right eye, before sitting back with a grin. "It's alright to call us strange, but we understood what you meant. It was the oddity and rarity of what we were that drew all the attention."

Slipping their right hand into the satchel, they pull out a Lindt chocolate bar, which is opened and a piece offered to Evan as they continue to talk. "If we get /too/ upset, excited, angry... anything like that, we can cause things to shake as well. It's not what we want, we just can't figure out how it happens. It's why our parents, well our dad really, found this school," they sigh softly and break off a piece of the chocolate for themself.

"We're still scared this school won't really be able to keep up with our dancing, music, and singing lessons, along with our advanced acting classes... but dad said they could, so we're choosing to have faith that it can. We know we need to learn how to stop shaking things, but we have a goal, a timeline we want to maintain toward stardom."
Evan Sabahnur     Taking the offered chocolate with a quiet "Thanks." he takes a bite before chuckling and saying quietly "Well, there's nothing wrong with enjoying the attention you get that I can see. You kind of have to if you plan to be in movies and all, though from what I've seen, you may eventually get tried of being in public every moment of your lives."

"As for keeping up with you, I think you're safe there. All of the faculty are mutants, of course, and with their range of abilities, there's probably someone who excels in just about any activity you can think of."

"I mean, they have people who can teach me physics and the like, granted a less physical subject, but you shouldn't worry. I'm fairly certain that if they don't have someone now, when you show that you need a more advanced instructor, they'll probably hire one."
Eabha Aine Nibbling at the chocolate, Eabha Aine listens as Evan talks, a few questions starting to form in their head. Up until a few months ago, they hadn't been around any mutants at all, at least not that they knew of. They were going to a private high school in New York City, on track for their planned timeline toward success, and now they were faced with the possibility of a few kinks in their plans.

Watching Evan, listening to him, getting to know him, the idea of it taking a little longer to reach their goal wasn't seeming like such a horrible thing. There were /a lot/ of mutants out there, and a large number here at the school and they had to accept that in spite of everything... they were mutants.

"You really think they'd hire someone?" they ask hesitantly. "We mean... if we reached a point that it was needed, you think they would find someone who could keep teaching us?We...." they hang their head a little. "We never expected anything like that as a possibility. To be honest... we didn't think too highly of the school in general."

Slowly looking back up at him, they chew lightly on their rose colored bottom lip before saying, "Our dad was adamant that this place had everything we needed, but... we mean come on, it's hard to believe a parent when we know they were both freaked out over the sudden powers."

They go back to nibbling the piece of chocolate even as they offer Evan another piece. "Up until a few months ago, we really thought that our mutation was just the merging... so it's all been a shock, and we're still trying to adjust to the change." They look over at him now, at his face, into his eyes, and a smile touches her lips. "But if there's one thing we do well, it really is the ability to adapt to a new situation like this and make friends."
Evan Sabahnur     "I'm pretty sure they would, to be honest. This place seems less like a school than a refuge for mutants to prepare them to face a world that doesn't really accept us that well. I've seen the teachers doing all kind of things to help people both settle in and get whatever they need. They even set up a tent at the edge of the lake to hold classes so that this one kid who lives in there can attend."

He takes another bite of the chocolate and continues, "So yeah, they go out of their way for the students. Heck, from what I understand Dazzler got her start here, so there's even precedent for someone going from here to fame."
Eabha Aine Eabha Aine slowly blink as the expression of surprise spreads over their face. "Dazzler started here?!" they exclaim, and this time the body bounce is a joint effort of both teens. "That's so flippin cool! We would never have figured that out!"

The remainder of the square of chocolate is popped into their mouth as they consider everything Evan has said, the girl talking back and forth over the new information. Pamphlets, brochures and fliers only have so much information contained with in then, and obviously there was no web page for the school, to what Evan had told them was in fact making it easier for them to accept being here.

Quite suddenly, no warning at all, and Evan gets hugged as they says, "Thank you so much Evan, for sharing all that with us."
Evan Sabahnur     Evan jumps slightly in surprise, but doesn't pull away from the hug or anything, just not used to people who aren't his parents hugging him. After the moment of surprise, he smiles and when she lets go of him says, "Anytime, you're easy to talk to. And I'm glad I could help get rid of a few of your worries. It really is an awesome place to be while you get things straightened out before hitting the real world full time."

"Anytime you have a question, or just want to talk, let me know. I don't exactly have a full social life, so there's a good chance I'll just be doing schoolwork or something." He chuckles, "Honestly, I don't think I've gotten to the 'prepared for the real world' stage of things yet, there's just so much I can learn here."

He pulls a cell phone out of his pocket, saying "Let me give you my number so you don't have to wander through the whole place looking for me."
Eabha Aine The hug lasts for just a short time, what would normally be considered the appropriate length, about forty-five seconds, and then Eabha Aine sits back where she was before.

"You really helped ease some of my worries," they admit with a soft chuckle. "I mean the teachers and adults have all said the same things, but our brains both were saying they have to say that sort of thing. Hearing it from another student, that makes it sooooo much easier to believe."

Getting Eabha's phone out with the right hand, Aine pulls a phone out of the left back pocket with the left hand... that's right, they each have their own phone. "We'll get your number, and share ours... and in this case it really is two numbers, that way if either of us has questions we can text you," they say before taking turns adding the number to each phone, and making sure Evan gets both numbers. "We'll let you get back to your studies for now, we need to go do our dance exercises. Some time soon, when it gets a little warmer in the area, we think you and us should go for ride. We'll text you!"

Standing up they offer a bright smile revealing their perfect teeth, a proper wave of first the right, then the left hands, and then they are off to the gym with a new bounce in their step that wasn't there before. Clearly Evan was very helpful in cheering them up.

-{"You were right, talking to Evan instead of playing pool was a better idea," Aine admits with a sigh. "But I still want to play pool later."

"Don't worry Aine, we'll play pool, and cards, and some video games... this place is looking up, way up," Eabha replied.
