Owner Pose
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie is here in the garage on his day off, and has a white towel set out beside a WWII era bike. The bike itself looks well maintained and is done up in a black paint scheme. Sam has part of the engine off of it, and laid out on the towel. A bit of grease on his forehead where he has wipped his brow and not noticed it. He is wearing jeans and an old t-shirt something he does not mind getting messy it seems.
Kurt Wagner     Kurt definitely doesn't bamf himself around the garage, even though it's a lot faster than walking. Last thing he wants is for someone to get startled around dangerous machinery and do something bad. Coming home from mass, he's dressed in a hoodie under a zip-up light jacket. He notices Sam as he walks, pulling his hood down to look over at the greasy man.
"Guten Tag," he says as he pads over toward the other. "Was is das?" he continues, though quickly adds, "What is this you're working on?"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks up and over his shoulder "Oh hey Kurt." He offers the man in greeting. It has taken a while but he is mostly past calling the others Mr or Ms. "My bike, aint rode her much with the colder weather, but with it warming up figured Ah should give her a good once over before Ah take her out on the roads. How you doing? Have a good sermon?"
Kurt Wagner     Kurt shrugs. "I suppose," he says. "I have to hide most places, sadly. What I wouldn't give to be able to openly worship Jesus with others." He waves that off. "Perfect world, though," he says, lamenting that it isn't. He finds a spot to lean so he can continue the conversation while providing casual body language. "I will worship my Lord in eternity. That is the grace of Christ," he points out through a smile of hope.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "The place don't matter as much as the meaning for you. My Ma, took me out to her church one day while Pa was in bad shape. Was a place out in the woods, found an old stump had a hole in it, where she pulled a bible she kept out there wrapped in plastic wrap. Told me, be hard pressed to find a nice place, her ceiling was the sky, floor the forest floor, and the birds were her choir."
Kurt Wagner     Kurt nods. "God promises not to leave or forsake us," he points out. The blue-furred mutant pulls his phone from his pocket and unlocks it, looking at the bible app that comes up. He ponders for a moment. "Sam," he says, looking up from the screen to the other of God's mutant children. "I have what may be a terrible idea. It's new, but it's very strong, and I don't know if it will stick. I think I'd like to start some kind of service for those of us who follow Jesus but are afraid to go find somewhere that will accept their worship."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks to the other man and pulls a rag out to wipe his hands off, and says "Well if your looking to start it out here at the mansion, Ah am sure you would have some show up, and no one would give ya to much grief, might get some debates from this or that person, but they would respect your right to believe. If your looking for a more open place, Bushwich could probably use some more help." He does think a min and says "Not trying to put a kink in things but your Catholic right? Would it be a problem your not an official priest or or something?"
Kurt Wagner     Kurt rubs his chin for a moment, eyes falling to the concrete they stood on as he began considering things. "Hmmm," he says. "When Martin Luther posted his 99 theses, he splintered the church, whether he meant to or not." He looks back at Sam. "I don't want to push others who serve the same Lord as I do just because we use different names for our Christianity. We are already splintered as humanity because some call those with gifts mutations, like somehow we're deviations from what God intended. Mutants have been around from perhaps the very beginning! I know this might not make me any friends in the Catholic church, but we should definitely not split up based on petty things." He quotes, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." He shrugs. "So, if you're saved, you should be welcome to whatever we start, Catholic or not." He rubs the back of his neck. "If I need to become a priest to make this happen, maybe I should." It isn't like the celibacy thing is going to be much of a problem.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smirks a bit and aint so sure on the celibacy thing he has seen how some of the ladies look at the elf. "Well, Ah aint never put a strong label on my own belief other than Christian. I know we do have a few others about. Rahne and Berto might both be good folks to talk about, but not sure how Rahne would take to you going the official route. She maybe all for it or against it, with her past Ah can't say." He admits. "That being said, while Ah may not be there every Sunday, Ah am willing to help out how ever Ah can.
Kurt Wagner     Kurt nods. "Thank you, Sam," he says. "We should all be working on our relationships with each other and with God. Maintenance, right?" He shrugs again and pushes off to stand upright. "Maybe we can help each other stave off some major emotional breakdowns in the face of all the stuff going on."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods a bit and says "Ah will admit, Ah might have been glad to have a group about after Alexis and Ah split, but Ah ended up throwing myself into work. If Ah was working Ah did not have to think about things as much. So Ah was spending time at the precinct, Harry's or Betty's place, walking the beat or making drinks. Ah am doing better now, but yea Ah could see it being helpful.
Kurt Wagner     Kurt listens which only seems to strengthen his opinion that this is something that's needed. He nods resolutely. "It's settled," he concludes. "I'm going to go see if I can find an appropriate space." He begins moving. Walking backwards, he waves. "I will be in touch, Sam!"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods his head to the other man and says "Well you got my number if you need me give me a call." As the other man heads off, he gets back to his work on the bike,
