Emma Frost Emma Frost is currently settled over in the library, a book over on her lap and a laptop to the side that she would occasionally be typing over into. Making references to whatever was scribbled within and then moving to pop back her attention to her research.
Clarice Ferguson In the middle of library, a brilliant BLUE light births a young woman with a BLINK! She is dressed in a black bodysuit. She looks around curiously and then looks at Emma as she's probably pretty obvious popping into the middile of the room, "Uhh sorry," she begins, "I thought Selene was around."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would glance over at Clarice and her eyes would narrow, "Just what, pray tell, are you looking about for that witch for, dear?" The total loathing between the former White Queen and the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club was legendary
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson looks surprised Emma is so upset but that's probably because she shouldn't have said anything, "I was just...checking on something for the Brotherhood," she explains, "That's what I do. Pop in and around," she adds.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would look at Clarice seriously, "Selene is at least ten thousand years old, drains the life of others to sustain hereslf, and revels in torture and sadism for her own amusement. So darling.. Please -do- elaborate."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson raises her hand, "Ahh, yeah I know, she can be like that. But I was trapped in this strange Dimension thingie once and she helped me get out," she shrugs, "So I guess I'm nicer to her than most people. Sorry to offend you. I won't mention her again."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would shake her head, "I didn't know that Clarice. But Selene does things for her own amusement. And she's among the most sadistic people I've ever met. That's not something I say lightly."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson hmms and nods, "Well maybe I should be more careful," she explains, "She is pretty dark, I'll give you that," she adds, "Is there anything you need any more help with? Thanks for giving me that one opportunity last week."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would shake her head, "No, for the moment. You're welcome. I do apologize for lashing out at you." There's no more elaboration on Emma's 'history' wtih Selene. "Would youc are to talk or is now not the occasion?"
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson nods again as she walks around from where she was over to the side of the room where Emma is, "Talk? Bout what?" she says and then smiles, "I mean, sure. I'm free. No errands or anything right now."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would shrug, "I just havent had the hcance to get to know you is all. You've had a very rough life and I feel like I should talk to the most uniquely pigmented member of the team."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson shrugs, "Yeah well, it's not a big deal. A lot of mutants have a horrible past and sometimes I'm not sure who to trust because everyone was a jackass where I come from. You know, when stuff starts crumbling around you, the real personalities come out."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod gently, "Yes, and ye tthrough all it all of you have persevered. And many of us can't imagine what the process was like and what your treatment was. And I have to do better to you and the others who went through that. Would you care to join me to sit and have something to snack on?"
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson waves at Emma, "Nah, you don't have to," she comments and then plops down on one of those cushy chairs, "But you said snacks?" she asks and then smiles, looking at the nearby coffee table, "Sure I could have one!"
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Yes, let me get something from the fridge. Would you care for something to drink or do you prefer not to?" She would inquire to the pink elf while getting some ice cream from one ofthe small refrigerators.
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson leans forward and spies Emma to figure out what she is getting, "Uhh sure! Anything is fine. Except cola. Or those energy drink things," she says and then smiles, "Anything!"
Emma Frost Emma Frost would come out over with ice cream for Clarice, and moves to get out some wine for herself, and then passes over Clarice a goblet as well
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson takes the fancyass goblet thingie and the ice cream, "Thanks Miss Emma," she comments, then has a little ice cream, "Usually I'm just standing around and nobody even asks me what I want!" she chuckles, "So you have a business? You're pretty busy right?" she asks.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod, "Yes, I do. I make occasional visits to the school here to hcekc in on things and work with the team as needed, but my primary responsibility is to my business."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson eats some ice cream as she says Mmmhmm in comment to what Emma says, "That's interesting. Must be nice being the boss of your own business," she comments, "Is this club part of the business? Who owns this building anyway?" she wonders. She drinks from the fancy goblet.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would shake her head, "The Hellfire Club is a separate thing. The New York branch is lead by Sebastian Shaw, and is orietned towards the 'old money' types. Shaw tends to prefer economic domination of the world and the empowerment of his inner circle."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson wiggles her spoon as she says, "Right right Mister Shaw. I forget if I've met him," she comments idly, "Wow, old money? What's that mean? Rich people with big families?" she wonders.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would lean in, "It's a term generally referring to wealth accumulated over generations. Sometimes for hundreds of years. Families accrue power, wealth,a nd often paranoia, setting themselves up as a ruling elite. Shaw caters to those types."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson nods as if she understands all that, "Right, big families," she says and leans back in her cushy chair to have another drink, "Must be nice to not have to worry about money ever. Or if you have enough for food. Those people can buy the whole restaurant!" she lets out and chuckles.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would simle, "Yes, quite much." No need to spoil the girl's moment of enjoyment an dindulgence. The girl is blessedly cheerful and naive. Something which is to be encouraged but to keep an eye on her so that she's caught by surprise by the club's darker aspects
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson hmms, "Yeah well rich people think they can buy everything anyway," she shrugs, "I've been to a lot of places and met a lot of people. Most people are jerks. Maybe that's why I stand in the back quietly. Anyway, sorry for rambling," she comments and then puts the ice cream bowl to the side on the coffee table, "Thanks for the ice cream."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod over, "Yes, and rich people are often jerks. Wha tmakes us worse is that we have the abilities to act on thsoe impulses, can enable them, and therea re often few or no consequences for it." She would gesture, "It's fine, feel free to talk."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson shrugs, "Well yeah, I guess that's true," she comments and then adds, "Maybe I trust people too much who are nice to me. That's what you were saying before right? Guess I'll have to think about that," she explains, "so when's the next gala, huh? I need a big event to wear my new dress."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Unfortunately you missed Mardi Gras which would have been the perfect occasion. I'm sure that there will be others soon. And you could always have some sort of ball done here. Perhpas a masquerade or a school dance?"
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson looks contemplative, "Oh I missed mardee grass? Shoot," she comments, "What? A masquerade? Yeah I've heard of that. Not sure I've ever gone to one though. You go all these dances and socials?" she wonders.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Some of them. They tend to be a place for networking." Elaborating after a moment realizing that might not mean much to Clarice. "Meeting people, business contacts."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson smiles and nods, "Right, right," she explains, "Not sure I'd be any good at networking," she adds, "Not sure what you're secret is but I'm sure you're good at schmoozing and net working," she explains.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "You're a doll, darling. That would be a complete waste of your talents. And network involves knowing how to mnaipulate someone, and more importantly k nowing who to get the best return of investment on for the manipulation."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson chuckles, "Yeah definitely not me. Who'd believe me if I tried to manipulate somebody?" she asks, "I'd probably blurt out something dumb and make everybody all mad," she says and then adds, "Best I can do is ask for work with a nod and a smile."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would shake her head, "YOu do have a rather lovely smile, Clarice. And if you feel comfortable with it you can always be more assertive. But that's ultimately what you feel like you want to project to the world."
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson smiles wider and then motions to Emma with a chuckle, "Thanks. See, that's good schmoozing. I like that schmoozing a lot," she explains to her. She stands up from her cushy seat, "Well if you don't have any work right now, maybe I'll check back later."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "I don't at the moment. Take care, Clarice. Thank you for the talk. And if you hear someone named Hannibl making inquiries about you, take a few steps back and then teleport away." yay for pop culture Clarice may not know! Emma's tone joking enough even if Clarice didn't know to make it clear it was a joke.
Clarice Ferguson Clarice Ferguson squints at Emma a little, "Asking questions about me?" she wonders, then smiles as Emma smiles, "Right, don't worry! I won't do anything you wouldn't do," she promises. "Take care now," she adds. The blue energy portal envelopes her and she's gone in a BLINK!
