Tony Masters      It's early evening in New York. The noise of the day has started to die down, and the noise of the night is taking over instead. It's the time of day when more heroic types like to do 'Patrols'. Which is to say, they run around the rooftops like idiots looking for crime happening for them to interfere with. There's a lot of them in this town. But, there's also a lot of town. Like animals in the wild, they tend to settle into their own patterns and routes, and only occasionally cross paths with one another. Some scientist could probably do a paper on the migratory patterns of the modern vigilante.

But they're not the only ones out. One tall, relatively slender white and gray clad figure is running ghostlike across the rooftops, his booted feet barely making any sound as he leaps from one building to another. He's not, however, making any particular effort to conceal himself visually. It was almost like he didn't care if he was spotted. Or was hoping for it. Those not in the know might assume he was just another cape. Those that were would know better. Taskmaster continued his swift parkour session for a few seconds, crossing his current roof, then stopped at the edge to peer down at the alleyway and street below. The glowing yellow eyes of his mask unblinking as he leaned on one knee. The hilt of the sword on his back quite visible over one shoulder.
Mary Jane Watson She's out on overwatch for another assignment. That means sitting over in a balcony with a set of binoculars watching and waiting for something to happen. She's been there for about fourteen hours, and no remote sign of whomever or whatever it is that she's expecting to be or not be there. However, when someone does parkour over the rooftop.. There's a quick glimmer o fidentifiation in her mind.
Tony Masters, aka Taskmaster. Former agent, perhpas deserter by dossier. Supervillain. Priority target. On several watch lists. Marked under 'do not engage alone'. This is all however too juicy for Sonja. A threat, combined with a very low priority mission that's had her sitting still for ages.
<<Priority target located, disengaging from assignment. Moving to pursue>> That's sent over the SHIELD comm right as she gives a confirmation of her location, the target.. And then she's flipping her way up and voer to the rooftop. A huge baster sword is hooked over her back as she lands smoothly on her feet in a quick tumble.
Tony Masters      The sound of somebody landing on the roof behind him causes Taskmaster to straighten. The criminal instructor turns around, considering the redhead in the SHIELD uniform in front of him. "Hmm. I don't think I remember you. New recruit?" His voice sounds somewhat mechanical coming through the mask. The disinterest is still easily able to be made out, however. His head shifts fractionally. "And carrying a sword? I suppose they're trying to branch out some." Then he rolls his neck, and starts to walk towards her at a leisurely pace. "I don't suppose you came over to say hello? Share the latest SHIELD gossip?" There are some people who might find him coming at them, even that slowly, kind of alarming. But, then there are people who don't really know him. Or discount him because he's mostly human. The copycat looks forward to seeing what this one is.
Mary Jane Watson The sword is unsheathed from her back, and Red Sonja grins. Her posture suddenly shifts as the dual selves trade control. "I've heard quite a few things about you. I'm curious as to how many fo them are true." She would advance with blade raised, moving in a guard position. Minimum of movement, efficiency. Ready to counter him depending on how he went at her. Both hands on the blade, holding it with a rather intense amount of power.
Tony Masters Taskmaster stops a few feet away from her, considering her stance. His head cocks to the side. "Hmmmmm. Your form is unusual. Where'd you learn?" He reaches up and grabs the hilt of his own blade, unsheathing it leisurely. It's not truly a two-handed weapon, though he could probably grab it with both if needed. Smaller than the one she has. His own stance is relaxed. He doesn't even go into guard yet. "But I assure you. Any stories you've heard about me are pale imitations of the truth." He raises his free hand, and just casually gestures her closer. "Come on then. I have other places to be tonight. Can't waste too much time with you."
Mary Jane Watson The mocking has her grin, "Somewhere you'll never go, nor would you want to." SHe's read his file - at least those bits she has access to. He can imitate whatever she does after she uses it. So that means she has to be conservative, wait for an opening.. "If you do feel like I'm keeping you, please feel free to turn your back." Blade held ready, making no move to attack him yet as he readies his own blade.
Tony Masters Tony waits for a handful of seconds more, then lets out an exaggerated sigh. "Fine then. I suppose we'll start then." And then he's moving. He's fast. Remarkably so. His movements still almost casual, if skilled. Blade flickering in the light as he sends a series of blows her way. They're to feel her out more than anything, though if she failed to block them they'd still hurt. When their blades engage, he won't do a brute strength for strength check. Whether he thinks he can't match her in that regard, or thinks she can't match him, is hard to say. It could be neither. Whatever the reason, he'll deflect rather than locking, watching her moves curiously. "Hmmm. I suppose not the worst I've seen."
Mary Jane Watson He's toying with her, he's testing her. He's definitely trying to bait her. This is a game that Red Sonja knows well. So she plays it conservatively. Striking his quick attacks at her with a minimum of effort. She's got some skill, is holding back, and is trying to minimize the amount of force put into it. SHe's still clearly got a level of enhanced strength. She's on the defensive, even as Red Sonja seems content to let him test her out while she does the same to him.
Tony Masters The ringing of steel on... not steel fills the air. Taskmaster suddenly increases the intensity of the attack, his slashes and stabs coming faster and harder than before. And she'll find that it's getting harder to time her own blocks properly. He'll move forward a few steps, forcing her to retreat or push back. And if she does the latter... suddenly he's just not there when her next attack falls. Dodging it without their weapons ever touching. And the clash of metal falls silent as he continues to do this. Dodging, ducking, weaving fluidly from side to side. Only occasionally launching a strike of his own. But each time it'll come from an angle that's hard for her to counter, timed when she's not quite prepared to meet it, even if for but a fraction of a second. "You're not terrible, I suppose. Maybe with some training you could become good."
Mary Jane Watson Oooh, he's good. This will be fun. Red SOnja takes the hits - she might not be able to fully react to them when they come at angles she can't quite ready herself for, but she can turn to take teh worst of them. On armor, on the edge of her shoulder, on an elbow.. Just enough to deflect the worst of it. And then she goes to wait for a moment where he's committing, right when he's going to taunt a ther. Her body language choroegraphs a swinging strike that would normally be a dismemberment blow - with her solid strength it would normally split someone down the middle with a clean strike!
But instead her slide is faster - her intent is to get him to block it with his sword, but where she has the advantage of her superior strength and the metal of her sword.. Her intent is to just try and cripple the weapon if she has the ability to slide right through it and shatter it if she can with a clean hit! Of course, this requires hher feint wiht her body language to go off well, and for him to have not quite expected -how- fast she was or how strong now that she's committed.
Tony Masters He keeps on dodging her blows, but in the end he returns to occasionally blocking. This end up turning against him when the redhaired agent finally manages to land a solid, edge to edge blow. The tempered steel is unable to stand up to adamantium and the blade ends up breaking. He's slid to the side before it can fully land, left with a handle and maybe a foot of steel. But it doesn't really seem to phase him. Suddenly he's in much closer to her. Almost face to face. The broken sword, now closer to a knife, moving so much faster than before. His hands being put into things now, deflecting blows and sometimes blocking them when they're weak enough, slipping them time and again. There are times where he somehow ends up behind her, and she has to do her best to avoid jagged steel lodged in her back or sides.

She's certainly giving him a good fight. It's not often somebody manages to break his sword. But for the most part, he at least gives the impression that he's never out of control of the flow of things. Whether that feeling is justified remains to be seen. "That's an interesting sword you have there. Maybe I'll keep it." This will continue for a time, until at one point he'll attempt deflect a downward strike, and then end up trying to put a hand on her wrists, pushing down hard enough it ends up hitting the rooftop and sinking deep into it. Deep enough that it'll become stuck for a second or two. If manages it, in that time, he'll attempt to bring his blade to her eye. Not actually hitting it, but close enough she can very clearly see the jagged tip. "I suggest stopping now."
Mary Jane Watson The back and forth is very fun for the two. Red Sonja is enjoying herself even as the two exchange blows. She's stronger than he is (likely), but he has a speed edge. He's also slightly taller than she is, which gives him more room to work with. At the speed the two are going, at the strength.. A small edge is a major shift. Even the samller blade that she'd smashed to try and remove this is litlte more than an adjustment of tactics to him. She's having fun.

She would grin, "And maybe instead I'll keep that skull o fyour's. Since I can't keep your head." The hnad to her wrists catches her by surprise, but she simply brute forces her way out of it before he can get a solid grip. She is, however, slammed down over to the rooftop with his blade nearly at her eye over. She still has control of her blade, which is spun around and if she can twisted up to try and point it over at the side of his leg with one hand, her other hand going up and over to the front of the blade, ready to catch it on her hand to push it away, even if she has to let it twist all the way through her hand.
So, presuming this all works, the two might be at a standoff. Presuming they are, REd Sonja would grin. "I suggest the same to you." Her blade's sharp enough if at the right angle to cleanly go through his leg, and she's strong enough to make the slice, presuming she has the freedom to do so.
Tony Masters      Tony glances down at the sword aimed at his leg, then suddenly disengages and ends up a short distance away. "I suppose that's fine for now. I suggest you go back to whatever you were doing, however." He glances at his broken sword in his hand, then resheaths what is left. Then he turns away from her, starting towards the edge of the roof again. He doesn't seem to have any issues with turning his back on her.
Mary Jane Watson And she goes to cleanly get up, grinning, "Well fought. Your reputation, as you said, does not do you suffiicent credit." She's winded and has some injuries from his strikes along her body, ut nothing too serious. "I look forwards to engaging you again." She's not attacking him in the back, a tleast. She's going down the other side of the building, presuming he disengages. She has her original assignment to get back to.. What a lovely diversion on a boring night!
