Peter Parker It's a calm April day. The kind of day that brings the families out to walk along the sidewalks of Brooklyn with their kids. Picking up donuts and fruit along the way, getting a balloon, maybe taking in the sound of an a capella group singing on a corner, or a few guys with upside down plastic paint tubs doing percussion. A lively Brooklyn day, perfect for a stroll.

And what a stroll, one might say, watching the man on hundred foot tall steel extensions parade down the center of the street, feet casually avoiding cars that are slamming on their brakes at the sight. And of course, the on-lookers point and gasp. And every once in a while sneaks over towards the road as some of the bills slowly drift down to the street from one of the sacks of money tied not quite fully enough to seal, as Stilt-Man clutches a halfdozen bags to his chest.
Mary Jane Watson Stilt Man is hard to miss. Really, really hard to miss. Mary Jane has just finished a quick audition. She doesn't have the time for theatre, modeling, or anything really anymore other than on a very occasional basis. So when she has the time tor un into something, she takes it. She's just gone in for one and will expect to hear back in a few days that she didn't get the small part she was going for.. But it still makes her happy.

And then there's the STOMP as Stilt-Man goes to quickly zoom in another direction, a foot missing her by a few dozen feet. Well that's not good. She geos to break off running, just wearing a Spider-Man t-shirt and a set of jean shorts, going at full speed. She can't remotely keep up with him..
Gwen Stacy A nice Friday afternoon in Brooklyn. Great for a stroll out with the family. Or for a certain Ghost Spider to be patrolling the neighborhood on a day off from her Oscorp internship. It brought a certain balance to her, that natural feeling of swinging between buildings, flying through the air as she shot web after web to propel her around.

Up here she felt at peace. Without all the problems plaguing her life. This was who she was supposed to be, Ghost Spider....

A twinge on her danger sense catches her attention. And a moment later the rather tall Stilt-Man does too. "You are up to no good, aren't you?" she murmurs to herself. Almost by instinct she goes to talk through comms, << Hey, Stilt-man is...-->> but she stops herself. There's no one else to talk to. Not anymore.

So she swings in, noting a redhead running by. And as she is swinging by close to the ground she asks her. "Hey, need a ride?"

A web is shot towards MJ for her to hold on to if she wants.
Terry O'Neil There's a hot dog cart not too far away that is the holy grail of Brooklyn. Joanne, the proud owner of said cart for over a decade now, is considered to be an absolute sorceress of the sasuage, a wizardress of wurst, and the hot dogs are coveted far and wide, which the long line that goes down quite a bit is a testament to.

Terry has been in line for, at least, half an hour, and his stomach is protesting. Still, he is a good client of Jo's and he knows that good things come to those who wait.

And then, there is a STOMP.

"Oh for cryin' out loud..." the redhead says, staunchly keeping his eyes up front. No. Not today, Satan. He can't fight crime on an empty stomach, he just ca-

And there goes a redhead. A familiar redhead, at that.

"But my relish...."

And there goes Ghost Spider.

And he sighs. "Frickin' a-" He raises Kaida's charm bracelet to his eyes and looks into the mirror and speaks the words:

"We're All Mad Here!"

There is a burst of rainbow light. There may be glitter. And multicolored smoke. When the pyrotechnics have settled down, Vorpal stands ready for action.

"HEY GUYS, WAIT UP!" he shouts, and he Rabbit Holes his way to join up with MJ and Ghost.

"-- and it was BOGO Weiner day, too!" he complains as he tries to fall in step.
Natasha Cranston     It's a bit late to be heading to work, but then Natasha has something of a habit of coming in very late to work after what everyone else assumes was a long night of clubbing.

Truth be told, it ''had'' been a long night -- there seems to be a new player moving into the smuggling business and tracking down leads is taking longer than she prefers. She's mentally still poring over the various clues she has managed to pry out of informants, which explains why the first tremor went unnoticed.

The gigantic stilts striding past the intersection, on the other hand, get her attention quite easily.

She needs a moment to recover from her surprise, but then she sees the spider swinging past in pursuit and thinks quickly. "Natasha" is entirely too self-involved to go chasing after criminals, especially supervillains, but the Ghost Spider may need help.

A moment to breathe and center herself, a twist of will, and she slips out from people's awareness as she turns into the street after Stilt-Man, mentally reviewing what's known about the villain. Ramming probably won't work, but if she can distract him at the right moment...
Peter Parker The sirens are loud, well enough away that the Spider knows that something is going on before he spies the man at his level. Which is surprising, of course, since he is swinging high above the street, moving between the tallest buildings he can find. The feel of the wind through the thin fabric of the costume still feels striking to him, and he rather enjoys it. A certain touch of freedom comes that is unlike any he has felt. Not that swinging is unusual, but these buildings are far taller than any trees he's found in any jungle.

Shifting his direction, the Spider starts swinging in the direction of the tall fool, shaking his head. He wonders, absently, why it is that all the nutcase loser villains seem to come to this part of town. He is only starting to get a grasp for the regular foes of the Spider, and wonders what he is doing among their company. _Was_ doing, he reminds himself. _He_ is the Spider now.

He swings up and perches on a corner, peering at the man on stilts as he continues to amble along, leaking some of his ill-gotten gains to the wind.

And of course, he spies the approach of several other heroes. He ponders turning and leaving - surely they can handle this one on their own. But it has been a while since he tangled with an actual villain, and the last thing he wants is to fall out of practice. He sighs to himself, and swings over towards the man, keeping a casual eye on the others approaching to answer the call.

And of course, that girl is there. He sighs again. _Perfect._
Mary Jane Watson As Ghost Spider swings past her, Mary Jane goes to give a nod, "Appreciated." She goes to whip her hands over towards Gwen's pack and then goes to quickly wrap it around her face as she's yoinked up and over into the air along with the radioactive spider-gal! She quickly wraps and knots it around her face and holds on to Gwen. She doesn't have anything on her weapon-wise so she'll have to improvise .And she's -definitely- not letting Sonja have anywhere near the reins here. THe point is to get to Peter and find out what's going on.
Then whack him upsides the head for ignoring them for awhile. Not even May's Wheatcakes seem to have worked! Her arms are wrapped around Gwen's waist to stabilize herself as they head towards Stilt-Man.
Speaking quietly, "Really hope this guy never teams up with the Wheel. I don't want to imagine what that thing would be like as a soccer ball."
Gwen Stacy With MJ catching up to her and getting that scarf around her face there's a brief grin under the mask from Gwen, "It goes well with the rest of your outfit." she jokes, then nods towards a nearby building while they are swinging in pursuit. "Throw it." the backpack, that is. When it's thrown she *thwips* it high up and secure to a building. Corner of 5th street. She will have to remember when this is all done.

Vorpal joins them and Ghost Spider looks his way. "That's downright criminal. Bogo Weiner's are on me when we are done today." not that there's a lack of money dropping down from those bags. Money that people are running right to the middle of the street to catch. Getting smack dab in the middle of danger. Ufff.

"We need someone to get these people out of the way." She tells both MJ and Vorpal. "They are going to get hurt." Stilt-man was no joke with those hydraulic legs!

She swings herself higher, still with MJ hanging on. "Is Red coming out to play today or ...?"
Terry O'Neil "Crowd Control role, got it. I'm bringing my comm online-" Go Go Spidey Network, "And I'll get us some clearance."

How are you going to make peope run /away/ from money instead of /towards/ it, though? That is like trying to contravene a major force of nature. Some trickery is in order, perhaps.

Vorpal stops and weaves one of his illusions, trying to think of a way of handling this.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son-" he muses, and out of the sky, an illusion of the abomination they encountered in Wonderland swoops down towards the civilians. Its freakish frame with jaws that bite and claws that catch, massive bat wings and eyes aflame flies down and towards people, lettng out a terrifying screech in an attempt to chase them away and down the street.

"That /should/ potentially teach them to not be so greedy..."
Peter Parker Stilt-Man is not unaware of the arrival of the heroes. But turning is, understandably, slow for him, so he just continues walking onward. "This is my last haul," he calls back over his shoulders. "Just let me walk off into the sunset, and no one gets hurt." Maybe appealing to their lack of collateral damage will ...

The Spider swings out, a fist aimed for a kill-shot at the tall man's chin. There is a bit of a gasp from Stilt-man at the unexpected aggression and he drops down a good ten feet, leading the Spider to sail over him and well out of reach. Apparently this Spider is not as aware of just how quickly those stilts contract and expand!

The surprise, though, has a decidedly negative impact on Stilt-man's net worth. One of the bags slips from his grasp, sadly not the halfway empty one that has been dropping bills slowly. Instead, a completely full bag plummets and explodes into a shower of cash on the ground.

The Jabberwock scared plenty of folks away from a little cash - how much braver are they when a CLOUD of cash is involved?
Natasha Cranston     Natasha has a stronger will than most would assume, and is hard to faze - but the unexpected appearance of a Jabberwock manages it. She manages to regain control of the wheel before slamming into something, but then she notices Stilt-man's attempt to dodge Spider-man's strike and all of a sudden loss of control doesn't sound like a bad idea.

She takes a moment longer to brace herself and offer a brief apology to her mechanic and insurance agent, then deliberately slams on the brakes too hard while yanking the wheel, causing her car to swerve wildly before swiping its rear into the load-bearing stilt's ankle just as he's already off balance from the dodge...
Mary Jane Watson First things first. "Why do the bags all have $ on them?" Mary Jane inquires over to Gwen. "I can understand sometimes, but why every single time there's a bank robbed?" She would wince, "I'm trying to keep Red down. If I can get a weapon that might actually do something to him.." Over on thes ide of a buliding is a large steam pipe. "Let me off there. He's off balance.." She goes to get dropped over on the side of the building as the people scatter or run for the cash. This is going to hurt..

Mary Jane braces yerself, yanks off the steam pipe even as her hansd burn.. And goes to launch it through the air to try and target Stilt-Man's chest while he's stumbling backwards! The pipe is heavy, hopefully Sonja's aim is true.. But her hands are going to blister to hell and back.
Gwen Stacy The sudden appearance of that illusion has Gwen's eyes widen. Something that translates to the mask itself. Give it to Janet Van Dyne to make her a mask that could do expressions. "That's one way to do it.." the tinge of amusement on her expression visible at how Terry decides to handle the greedy populace. But he may have a larger challenge to tackle right about now with the clouds of money coming!

As MJ asks for that fly-by she nods. "Got it." and she knows exactly what the redhead is looking for, she swinging by close to the ground so MJ can /yank/ that pipe out and throw it. "Heard you had a pipe problem, Stilts!" she shouts!

Corny as ever with her quips.

That Spider-Man is here is enough to get her mood going down though. And some tension that MJ can surely feel on the girl. There's just a moment of hesitation as Peter goes flying past Stilt-Man....

.... and then a web is shot towards Spider-Man. Not to glue him down somewhere but instead to help him swing back into the fight.

"Let's get him." she suggests. Extending an olive branch to the other Spider.
Terry O'Neil "Oh for futterwhack's sake!" Vorpal hisses as even more money comess into play. A Jabberwock is fine for some, but he knows there will be just enough people willing to risk it...

"Oh, hey, Spidey's here!" he remarks. He hasn't seen Spider-Man, or Spider Uno as he calls him, in a while. But now it is not the time for pleasantries and posting group selfies on the instagrams. He's got to get people safely away from here in the face of pecuniary temptation. That means one thing:

It's Susbstitutiary Locomotion time.

He starts running along the street and slapping whatever receptacle is nearest: dumpster, wrought iron trash can, mailbox. Each one receives the very same instructions as he casts a chaos wave on them:

"Gather all the falling money and take it back to the bank!"

At once, the objects come to life.

"My my my why are they ALWAYS making such a mess?" tut-tuts the trash can, unearthing itself from its moorings and hopping towards the piles of money, metallic arms with sprouting from it to collect.
"Special delivery, coming up!" says one mailbox as it bounces along the road.
"Such. a. mess!" hollers the dumpster as it rolls up-street.

"... okay, I think /that/ might be better?" he says, dismissing the Jabberwock illusion.
Peter Parker The Spider frowns a bit as Stilt-man evades him, and starts turning to come back around for another swing. He is not as limber or as smooth as one might expect on the change of direction - his muscles know how to shift but he lacks the inherent understanding of physics that helps the web slinger swing so effectively - but he manages to turn around back towards the villain eventually.

Just fast enough to see Ghost Spider attack him!

"Hey!" He calls out as the web line is cast at him. He shifts a bit to avoid being caught but grabs the line as it goes past. He yanks as hard as he can with his spider-strength to try to knock Ghost Spider and her ally off balance, as he himself looks for a different perch to swing to. Perhaps this was an ambush!

Stilt-man, on the other hand, is probably better off without the Spiders coordinating an attack, because he already has more than he can handle. Wobbling from the car aimed by Natasha and everything else going on, he throws his arms up to try to balance.

A spray of cash rains down on the onlookers as he finds himself restored to the same level of wealth as he woke up his morning, all of his ill-gotten gains returned to the streets.
Natasha Cranston     Between the ''mostly'' controlled crash, the seatbelt, the airbag, and all the other clever little safety features Ferrari engineers into its cars, Natasha managed to avoid any serious injury, although the crash ''was'' disorienting.

The loud creaking of a giant stilt dangerously off balance ''right above her'' serves as an excellent motivator to shake off the dizziness and get the hell out of her car before she gets squished...
Gwen Stacy The olive branch had been extended. And refused! Ghost Spider is preparing to get that momentum going to swing Spider-Man into the fray when she feels that snap.

Spider-Man pulling on the web with his whole strength, unrestrained like they normally do to fight most street-level menaces.

Her arm bends backwards, unnaturally so, just before it simply pops out of it's socket with the violence. It doesn't break but comes very close to. A muffled scream escapes Ghost Spider and things get upside down as both her and MJ go for a 'spin' through the air...

And then they are falling at speed to the ground, Ghost Spider momentarily dazed with the pain and shock.
Mary Jane Watson Mary Jane is caught totally by surprise as Gwen is flung through the air. The hell!? The fact Mary Jane is in control rather than Sonja delays her for just long enough for the flung Spider Ghost to impact her. Hard. Spider-Man can lift at least ten tons when going all out. When is swung faster than a speeding bullet as she slams over into Mary Jane!
The switch to Sonja is just fast enough that she can brace to roll with it - the cracking sound like tissue paper is her ribs going from the impact. It's hard to make out over above the chaos of the battle. Part of the screaming is Mary Jane's as the two are launched through the air, and she goes to brace herself hard as the two would be launched!
Terry O'Neil "Oh Fu-" suddenly things /aren't/ going well, and Ghost Spider and her redhead rider are being tossed. There is a moment of astonishment on the Cheshire's features as he looks at Spider-Man with the universal 'Dude, WTF?' look.

And he is immediately torn, because he could try to rescue them from the fall via Rabbit Hole-

But RIGHT THERE, there is a civilian in immediate need of rescuhing from stompy-stompy crushy-crush. And the hero code demands civilians before heroes every time. He knows they'll understsand.

Dashing forward as fast as he can, he leaps into the Rabbit Hole he's just opened, and reaches out a hand to Natasha through the portal: "Hold on, I'm coming!"

His goal is, of course, to yank her back through the portal with him, thus clearing the potential danger of being crushed.
Natasha Cranston     Natasha blinks briefly at the sudden portal, but this really isn't the time for silly questions, so she takes the proferred hand and holds on even as she pulls the seatbelt free with her other.
Peter Parker After yanking Ghost Spider off track, the Spider manages to twist in mid-air, firing out a strand of webbing towards another building. Shifting his momentum as he sees Ghost Spider and Mary Jane (or whatever she is now) falling, and portals appearing, he decides it is no longer time to mess around. Or take any further chances.

With a change in position, the Spider swings up and then fires two strands of webbing at buildings on opposite sides of the street from Stilt-man. He starts to plummet from his arc and then curls up, increasing his momentum until the strands go taut and he starts a swing along the parabolic curve.

Stilt-man finally reorients himself, face aghast as the last of the dollars he had plundered flutter down to the ground. He looks up just a few seconds too late, and as the figure of Spider-man comes at him he tries to adjust. But this time, the Spider has learned, and as Stilt-man lowers himself the Spider comes up, extending out his legs in a powerful two footed kick propelled by the momentum of the swing.

The crack that accompanies the crushing of Stilt-man's chest armor reverberates down to the city street as the towering titan is lifted from those long legs, sent hurtling backwards. At some point, gravity will kick in and he will fall, legs and all, down onto the street.

As for Spider-man? He follows through on that curve, upward as the villain topples. He spares a brief glance back towards the other heroes that had responded to the call. Perhaps to see if he is being followed.

And then he sends a strand of webbing out to the side, turning to head off towards downtown.

The other heroes can clean up the fall-out. And tend to the wounded. He has other things to attend to.
Gwen Stacy The way they are flying across the air could prove deadly to one or the other but with MJ softening some of the blows Gwen gets time enough to re-focus. To fight through the pain and ..., swing a web to a lamp post. It's enough for their momentum to slow (as she makes the web just elastic enough!) and so when they fall they just roll on the ground a few.

Adrenaline is coursing through her body, but she knows pain will come soon enough. She breathes out heavily. "What the hell was that...?"

Disbelief in her voice. But whatever just happened..., that's not the Peter she knows.

Now she is certain of it.
Mary Jane Watson They fall and hit the ground. Mary Jane goes to brace so she takes the worst of it if need be. She's in considerable pain but just has a wince on her face rahter than screaming in agony. She's had worse.. And they have more pressing concerns.

"That's not him." The words sprniging to her lips even as they go to Gwen's thoughts. "A clone?" Her voice is quiet. They've seen two - Ben and Kaine. Mary Jane's brawled with a third along with Terry that might as well be feral, some sort of monstrous freak. What's a fourth on top of that?

"Then where's.." Where's the real Peter?
Terry O'Neil Having secured Natasha, Vorpal makes sure she is uninjured. "Ma'am, are you okay? I need you wait right here while the police and medics arrive- just to make sure... I've gotta make sure this jackass doesn't cause any more harm."

He turns around and walks towards Stilt Man, glaring.

"Hey, Human Pogo, playtime's over. If you move, you're getting an anvil to the head."

As if to make his threat good, a glowing purple anvil manifests in the air above Stilt Man, hovering like the sword of Damocles. Or the anvil of Bugs. The cat does the 'I'm watching you' hand gesture, and says "Be a good boy and stay DOWN."

Now he makes his way to the ladies, shooting a glance at Gwen, "... your arm, should we get you over to the Tower for a check-up? What the hell was that with Spider-man? That was..." he purses his lips, glances at the redhead, and then back at Gwen. He clearly has chosen to use softer language, "Kinda fucky of him."
Mary Jane Watson Mary Jane Watson has propped herself up and is braced against the wall. Her face isn't showing the pain on it and she still has Gwen's scarf on. She deadpans, "Don't forge tyour backpack." having seen where it was flipped to. Looking to Spider Ghost and giving her a nod, ignoring the agony from her busted ribs and pulling her shirt a bit up to conceal them a bit more if someone might notice them.

"I'll be fine, she might need some help." Sonja was a very smooth liar, it came in useful sometimes. "And we're not sure. Just something is wrong. And we have to figure it out." Because if there is a clone running around with Spider-Man's powers and none of his restraint.. Even Kaine held back
Terry O'Neil "Are you sure?" Vorpal says at Sonja. "Checkups at the Tower are free. And there's ice cream." But the woman's determination already tells him she may be a hard sell. Nevertheless, he proffers something up - his card. The one with his private phone number. "If you decide to rain check... here. Give me a call. 'cause Spidey was acting like he had just molted and was a bag of piss and vinegar, and that's not like him. He's usually dorky and sweet and full of bad jokes like a bagpipe. So if something's crawled up his spiderweb or there's something wrong... that's no good. I've seen him use a car for weightlifting practice."
Natasha Cranston     Natasha holds her head and staggers, her disorientation only half feigned -- that was a hell of a hit even with her resilience. She blinks a few times, then looks up at the hero addressing her. "I... think I'm fine? I was driving, and then I saw the stilts, and that ''dragon'' thing and I hit the brakes, and..."

She looks down at the remains of her car and winces. "... It doesn't look I'll be going anywhere any time soon. Thank you; you may have saved my life."

As Vorpal walks off, she sits down and starts digging in a pocket for her phone. "Jessie? Please inform the board I'll be late. Later, I mean. ... No, this time it isn't my fault, you'll probably see it on the news. Have a driver pick me up at..." she glances at the street map and rattles off the location. "... Oh, and remind me to contact our insurance provider; do you remember whether we're covered for supervillain damages?"
Mary Jane Watson Mary Jane Watson would take it, "I'll be fine, thank you." The card is taken over and tucked away. "I'll make sure to look you up if I need it." She would laugh - carefully and at an angle wehre she wouldn't bring pressure from her ribs against her lungs to minimize the chances o fher wincing. She knew how to angle herself, how much she could breathe, and how to lean.

She would have time to be treated later. For now.. She has a lot of things to worry about. Natasha is given a nod - redhead with Spider-Man t-shirt and cheap scarf tied around lower face looks absurd.
