Laura Kinney It's rare that Laura Kinney stops by Xavier's school. It's rarer still that she remembers birthdays or other events unless they specifically relate to her direct family members. But while on one of her many lone wolf side adventures X-23 ran into a Yukuza member who owed her a life debt and, remembering just how similar her childhood was to Yukio from the chat they had while sparring, she felt compelled to call in that debt.

She's almost a week late in stopping by. But international smuggling is not always reliable. And there was probably at least honour duel that needed to take place.

But now the formalities are dealt with she's finally been able to stop by. Carrying a shopping bag with bold Japanese characters on it. (The branding for a store by the looks of it)

Knocking at Yukio's door with three short sharp taps.
Yukio Laura's heightened senses can hear noise coming from Yukio's room as she approaches. Well, it probably sounds like noise to her. It is, instead, music. Something with a very danceable beat and, of course, lyrics in Japnese.

Oh god, the J-Pop is in full force.

The knock, though, is somehow heard. Probably because Laura is good at this. The music shuts off, and a moment later the door opens. The first thing that Laura will notice is 'Oh my god, it's full of pink.' The second is that it's surprisingly tidy in there.

Yuki's eyes widen a bit in surprise. "Oh, Laura! I ... didn't expect visitors." She smiles brightly, and ushers her guest in. The room is plastered with posters of J and K-Pop groups, her bedding is cherry pink and black, various plushies of cute mascots are peppered around. Honestly, the only truly weird thing are the scattering of weapons on the walls. Nothing large, but all of them deadly. Laura will also be able to tell that they are placed such around the room that no matter where Yukio is, she's no more than two steps from something lethal.

Closing the door behind Laura, she smiles brightly, rocking on the balls of her feet. Today she's in an oversized sweatshirt, leggings and fuzzy socks. "What brings you by? I'd guess if it was more training, you would have broken in and tried to kill me!"
Laura Kinney Laura's eyes flick around the room. The decor neither surprising her or shocking her. She's seen what Gabby considers to be decoration before. Besides the looks of a place come second to her. Function over form.

And with the weapons placed at sensible points. Easy to access and kept in good condition. She nods. Approval? A greeting? Who can say.

"I remember you were talking about not being able to go back home," she offers with a shrug. Holding the bag out. "And I have some connections in the international smuggling business who owe me certain favours."

She's dressed almost exactly as she was for sparring. Black yoga pants and today a black hoodie. Like she's enthusiastic about exercise and just in the middle of a jog. You'd be amazed how often the 'I'm not involved in this incident I was just out for a run' line works. Especially in Gotham when you slip the officer a fifty dollar bill.
Yukio Yuki never really has to use the out for a jog excuse. She just looks adorable and non threatening and pretends not to speak English.

Then she just gives 'em a jolt and runs away. Easy.

Right now, though, her eyes widen a bit, looking from the bag to Laura's face and then back to it. The absolute nonchalance of it all speaks volumes and volumes. And people say Laura is mean and doesn't care.

Laura Unlocks: FRIEND FOR LIFE

Yuki takes the bag with both hands as one does, but doesn't even peer into it yet. Instead, she bows to Laura respectfully, the depth of it being appropriate for someone her senior. "You didn't have to do this for me," she says, straightening. "But thank you."
Laura Kinney Laura's face is a blank mask. "It was no trouble," she assures. It's even true. For her there wasn't really much trouble at all. The power of delegation. "I may have given the impression I was going to kill someone. And when I didn't they insisted they had to pay me back. Honour debts are more trouble than they are worth."

She does however give the appropriate response to the bow. Acknowledging it. Her first 'friend' taught her a lot about Japanese culture and martial arts. Before she was made to kill him anyway. None of her other tutors ever made the mistake of getting close after that incident.

That bag is... surprisingly heavy. Enough that the plastic handle probably won't last all that much longer. When Yukio does finally open it? She'll find traditional Japanese sweets, handmade varieties which are so very hard to find outside Japan, from just about every region. She would have liked to be more specific but the trouble with secret ninja villages is no-one knows where they are. So alas Yukio will have to make do with things from all over.

Each container is marked with how to store it and when it needs eating by. Probably the dates are fairly soon. But mutants have notoriously high metabolic rates and this is a school. Filled with teenagers who will be happy to help eat them. Wasting food is unlikely to be an issue.

"I did try ask for Pocky I could send to Gabby, but you can buy that easily enough in the US now. It's apparently not worth a mans life." Gabby will just have to settle for obscure Kitkat flavours instead.
Yukio The heft is noticed, and Yukio being, well, her, takes a peek. Her eyes widen, and an expression of raw, impending sugar rush glee crosses her face. The mansion is in trouble. So much trouble.

Someone is going to get pranked by Yuki while she's blitzed on sugar. Surely this isn't Laura's intent. Surely.

She sets the bag down, and considers the pros and cons of giving Laura a hug. Pro: She probably needs one. Con: Yuki will get stabbed. This is still worth mulling over, but for the moment, she does not.

"This stuff...I've found some of it in places, but not like this, and it's so expensive here. Thank you so much. It...A taste of home means a lot to me." Is it something Laura understands? Yukio has no idea, she's not a mind reader. She must understand enough to know how much it means to the little ninja, though. "I'll repay you in kind on your birthday if I can. Promise."
