Owner Pose
Kaine Parker Brooklyn at sunset.

Brooklyn is a true melting pot and has been for decades. Many ethnic enclaves appear in the neighborhood. The diversity leads to open minds which is even more critical with Bushwick being a defacto enclave for mutant kind. Spill over is inevitable, but hey, a proper New Yorker will sell pizza to anyone who is asking.

Despite how open minded the denizens of Brooklyn might be, the sight before many this evening does not broker a calm and measured response.

Screams echo through the street and cars swerve as a half-dozen carapace covered humanoids with six-arms each chase and harass someone who looks suspiciously like Spider-man.

Overwhelmed by the numbers, Kaine finds himself hurling through the air, the victim of a drop kick. He crashes into a pizza stand. A number of pepperoni slices are murdered brutally, victims of collateral damage.

Kaine groans and pulls a slice off his mask, only to see the small horde continue their pursuit. "Shit."
Mona Lisa      Metal discs with bladed edges land in the concrete in front of the Spider-Clone, a female voice calling out "Get up!" before the discs explode into sticky goo, sticking these arachnid humanoids charging Kaine in their tracks. A tall, reptillian-looking... creature in space age armor leaps into view by the spider-clone's side, wielding a sword that appears to be made of focused energy in one hand and... using a holographic UI to scan these creatures with the other.

"Where did these things come from!?" she shouts in perfect english, with a breathy, heroic-sounding voice, before she swings her sword at a group of the approaching spider-people, repelling them with force stronger than the momentum should seemingly allow, and then kicks another one, trying to put some sort of dent in this horde...
Kaine Parker The moment of respite from the onslaught is enough to let Kaine regain his composure. A quick handspring followed by a leap as he's perched on a nearby street lamp. His gaze snaps toward Mona Lisa. The mask hides his surprise.

He grunts and then descends back into the fray, drop kicking one of the arachnoids before webbing it against the side walk. He calls out to Mona, "Would you believe family problems?"

Spider sense tingling, he leans back narrowly avoiding the slice of a claw. "There's a man in a lab who really has it out for me."

The arachnoids in front of Mona hiss in frustration, their gaze constantly following Kaine. One attempts to shoot a sticky glob of web at the reptillian.
Mona Lisa      That has Mona Lisa's interest.

"Keep talking!" she shouts over the carnage, "Were these things human or are they non-sapient?" she shouts, ducking under a swinging claw and rolling before darting up the hood of a car, jumping off the hood and throwing another disc at the middle of the group, sticking a few more to the ground. She narrows her big salamander eyes at these arachnid-people as she points her left fist at their feet. A gun forms from a morphing pad on her wrist and fires at the arachnid's feet, shouting "If you can talk, talk!" at them, followed by "Last warning!" as she reaches back with both hands on her sword...
Kaine Parker Kaine rolls forward and then drops a rather brutal axe kick onto the webbed creature and crushes its skull. A pool of blue blood mixed with brain matter forms on the side-walk.

The creatures do not talk. Kaine calls out, "Probably part human, but definitely lab grown, if that clears your conscious."

Kaine leaves out the fact that he, too, is lab grown, but it does stop him from using lethal force on his brethren. These creatures had only hostile intentions for him, and he's very interested in surviving.

The rest of the creatures glued up by Mona's gadgets, Kaine appropriates them. "If you don't want to finish them, I will."
Mona Lisa      She tried, she really tried, but with all of them unconscious or glued up, she shakes her head in defeat. Deactivating her sword and then scanning the creatures again now that they're not in combat, she frowns at the results of her scan, saying "It would be more decision to make than mine." before stepping back and aside, saying "Lieutenant Y'Gythgba, Salamandrian Air Command. You can call me Mona Lisa." as an introduction, "Where did these things come from? Ah..."

She looks around at the random people of Brooklyn huddling behind whatever cover as she raises a thick hand, saying "I'm friendly! And not a mutant!" to the crowd, before wincing and looking at this Spider-Man-Like individual, saying "Anyways, please explain..." she motions at the remaining creatures, saying "...This."
Kaine Parker Kaine crosses his arms, the red eyes of his mask almost radiating rage toward the creatures. However for the sake of his would-be ally, he doesn't immediately finish them.

"There are some details I cannot share. It's complicated, but... I owe you something." He rubs the back of his head through his mask and sighs.

When he notices others are wary of Mona Lisa, he attempts his best 'Spider-Man' impression and puts an arm around Mona. "Hey everybody, This Lizard is one of the good-guys, and just helped your buddy spidey out of a really sticky situation."

He feels like he could vomit in his mask, but the act... does play on a general love for the friendly neighborhood spider man. Some people clap. Some yell 'Menace' but in general, people start moving on after they gawk at the creatures.

Kaine then turns back to Y'Gythgba. "There is a doctor who is obsessed with cloning and genetic manipulation. He and I... have a history. My whole month has been dealing with problems like this one. He's got it out for me specifically. These batch... wasn't his worse."

He frowns in memory of Doppelganger who is a guest of the Titans as far as he knows.
Mona Lisa      The tall salamander winces when hugged, but a quick gage of everyone's reaction to this and then him... has her understanding the necessity for it, and she gives a grateful sigh when he releases her. "I... Okay, I'm going to need the whole story." she says with a sudden seriousness to the red-clad superhero, putting her hands on her hips and leaning in towards him as she says "This person wouldn't happen to be working for the Techno Cosmic Research Institute? Or maybe have the last name of 'Stockman?'"

This intimidating look is clearly an act though, and one her heart isn't in, as she feels like she already knows the answer, that this is going to be yet another loose end she's going to need to investigate in her pursuit of her foes...
Kaine Parker The Not-Spidey shakes his head. "No, his last name is not Stockman. This individual's name is Miles Warren. He's a doctor who works for Oscorp."

He gazes down at one of the creatures, "He's a brilliant psychopath who is very good at cleaning up after himself. I only know his identity because I've been in one of his labs and seem him with my own eyes."

Looking back to Mona, he sighs. "I hope this Stockman isn't another clone-making madman. I don't think we need the one, let alone two."
Mona Lisa      The tall alien salamander blinks when she hears what Kaine says, her eyes wide and absorbing every word of his speech, and then she suddenly moves to grab the not-Spidey by the arm, saying "We need to talk, NOW!" as she pulls on him, trying to lead him into an alleyway if he doesn't dig his heels in and stick to the ground with his spider-powers...
Kaine Parker Kaine avoids the arm grab and then holds up his hands, grumbling "We can talk, just... Keep your hands to yourself. I don't like being grabbed."

Guessing her intention, he walks with her to the alleyway and then scales upwards a dozen feet, perching so he's not quite as easy of a target for the next batch of monstrosities sent his way.

"Okay, we are talking. More then I would like to be, but... I pay my debts." His back and feet keeping him adhered to the wall. He crosses his arms again and waits for the Salamander to continue.
Mona Lisa      Mona follows up the wall with her own hands and feet clinging to it, similar to his, but unlike him she keeps an arm attached to the side of the wall, looking at his hands and feet with a furrowed brow to try to figure out how he's doing it with his... but then she looks around, and then up, for anything that could be listening as she leans in, saying in a hushed tone "Oscorp is one of the companies I'm investigating here, I stole a canister of Mutagenic Ooze from them during a recent Hydra attack on one of their facilities..."

She looks to the side and then back, saying "I saw an opening and I took it. Anyway... this mutagenic ooze can make creatures like the ones we just fought, though they... typically show more intelligence than what you saw out there. It's a... long story..."
Kaine Parker Kaine growls behind his mask. "I can't guarantee it's Warren, but it sounds like something he would be involved in. The few files I've managed to steal from him reference a number of genetic manipulation experiments. I'm fairly certain he steals the DNA of his students."

"And... he makes his own test subjects." He adds a little solemnly feeling uncomfortable with where the discussion has turned.

"But hey, if you are against Oscorp, then I think we have a common enemy. Maybe we can help each other out." He adds hopefully.
Mona Lisa      Mona Lisa shrugs, saying "Well, you haven't flinched nor hesitated on my appearance or anything I've said, so I think we can work something out, for certain..." She then looks around, saying "This is hardly the place to plot a greater heist, but if we have a mutual enemy, I can use all the allies I can get..." She then looks back to the masked man, saying "Have you heard of... any giant turtles around Brooklyn?"
