Emma Frost It was a meeting for dinner and to discuss some possible business arrangements between Starrware and Frost Industries. Emma was sitting at a table, having arrived early. Emma being Emma she had simply rented out the entire restaurant for a meeting with just the two.
Karen Starr For business, Karen is NOT dressed as formally as she usually is. She tends to live in pantsuits when she's being Karen Starr. But not today. She's indulged in the theme by dressing in a red silken cheongsam with golden trim. She may not be Chinese, but the ensemble is. She seems surprised to find it as empty as it is, when she comes in. At least it's easy to find Emma, and she heads over to the other woman's table. "Must not be a terribly popular place."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would sit back over and smile, "Oh, I have my methods. A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Starr more formally. And please, do relax. I see no reason why we can't talk first before getting to busienss. THer'es no rush in affairs after all. Please feel free to order whatever you would like to try. I have the restaurant booked for as long as I wish it."
Karen Starr "We're having a business meeting in a Chinese restaurant. I promise not to call you "Ms. Frost" if you promise not to call me "Ms. Starr." Karen's tone is a little amused, at least. "Agreed?" She moves over to sit at the table, adjusting her chair. "Any dishes here that you'd recommend? I admit that Chinese isn't a cuisine I've done a great deal with."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "of course, Karen. And I must say, you do look lovely. I know it doesn't quite fit your persona, but you should dress like this more often." she would smile. "I believe that most things are good. So you can order just about anything and it will be excellent."
Karen Starr "Honestly? Someone gave this to me and I've never had a good excuse to wear it before. Starrware doesn't do much business in Asia, honestly. Some contracts in Japan notwithstanding." She looks to the menu. "You know what, someone once said if you don't know Chinese cuisine, start with General Tso's Chicken. Though I understand that's supposedly not very authentic." But it makes her laugh inwardly, picturing General Zod in the back cooking chicken. "I'll go with that."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Well, then we'll have to find some more occasions, if you don't mind my being presumptuous. And an excellent choice with perfect logic. I believe that I'll do the same." Emma goes to pseka over to the waiter, ordering some separate appetizers for the two as well. "Would you care for something to drink while we talk?" She would inquire.
Karen Starr Karen considers. "I don't see anything wrong with that. Though I have no idea what would be the most appropriate. Usually I'd pair a white wine with chicken, but I don't know how big Chinese cuisine is on wine." It's not like she can get drunk, anyway. Kryptonian.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Very well. Then we can have what is recommended." She goes to speak to the waiter, asking for something that fits the meal while turning her attention back to Karen. "So, before business, please do let me know about yourself, Karen. Whatever you might like to tell me that isn't necesarily in your official biography."
Karen Starr Karen looks amused. "I'm certain your life story isn't spelled out in your corporate bio, either. We're used to doublespeak. It comes with the business. Besides, just knowing Divine, I'm fairly certain you know more than a bit about me that doesn't end up in my official biography."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Of course, but it's still considered polite. And we're not talking business yet. We're both powerful, rich, and busy women, Karen. So we don't have to keep up all these pretenses and games all the time."
Karen Starr "It's not the politeness that worries me, it's the security. Both you and I keep our more unusual talents out of the public eye. Admittedly, the empty restaurant helps, but there's still staff here. You sure you want to discuss our more secure details here?" For Emma, she could suppress memories; Karen doesn't have that option.
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod, "Of course. I completely understand that. And I opted to keep here mostly private rather than have ourselves herded around by having much of our staffs and security present. Perhpas after then or another time?"
Karen Starr "Which I appreciate. Honestly, like I said, if you've talked to Divine, I'm sure you've either determined or at least intuited some of my information. Like not exactly being from around here." Karen says, using her own super-hearing to be sure no one gets too close to them without her knowing it. "And everything that comes with that."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod over and lean back and smile, "Of course. I'm well aware. And I respect your privacy and your wishes. If we're to do business together, then we have to keep that. Besides, we're both women CEO's. We have to stick together."
Karen Starr Karen nods. "Then...as far as things not in my bio, that you don't already know?" Hmm. "Not a fan of diet soda." she offers with an amused quip. "Not a ton of other info between those two, I suspect."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "I wouldn't happen to know. I respect you by reputation, Karen. And I know that you're allowed your own privacy as much as anyone else. You've come far in this world by your own abilities and intelligence. That's to be admired."
Karen Starr "You have no idea. Look, you're helping out Divine. And that counts for a lot with me. If you want to know something more, we can talk. But not here. Somewhere that people can't overhear us. Neither of us needs our secrets going public."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would smile, "Of course. For now, this is just us talking here to relax. And on possible leadup to business in the future. But nothing so formal required." Emma would tease over lightly.
Karen Starr "Then, once we finish our food, let's have a more serious talk." Karen offers. "If we're trying to make progress, let's make progress." And with that, she'll settle in to eat and get herself ready for that more serious talk.
