Owner Pose
Loki With the sensors the way they are in the Avenger's mansion, plus the magical wards, and everything else -- there is, of course, a variety of bells that go off, when something is around outside.

But there is conflicting data from those sources. Some of the magical items do find it, yet the cameras disprove anything being present. The thermal sensors say a negative. No visual.

What does it mean?

If the instruments are ignored, though, and a person actually looks out the window, they would observe a very pleasant magical tiki bar located in the yard adjacent to the far end of the pool. It has cheerful lime green lights. It's not obviously magical: aside from being invisible to cameras, which suggests it's not quite what it seems.
Natasha Romanova There were some anomalies in the security grid some weeks ago which amounted to nothing upon followup investigation. But it's still had Natasha monitoring the systems extra closely. She does the same for GIRL and with Stark's tech if something shows up, she'll take it as legitimate.

So when there's a flash on the monitors,s he's going out with a large weapon pulled from the armory to take with her. She gets out right as she sees the magical tiki bar, and she goes to load a clip into the weapon.

"Who are you and why are you intruding here?" The weapon gets a full charge, and while it's not pointed over at the bar it's clearly ready to unload the full lcip into it.
Loki "Having a drink. Sharing the wealth," answers a voice easily and immediately identifyable as Loki. He hasn't made any attempt to disguise that: and he absolutely could have. The mage could have been anybody, including taking on one of the Avenger guises. He didn't do so.

He's not in the bar itself; he materializes out of nothing on a pool chair to one side. He's reclined, and though he is not in battle regalia (instead, a modern suit), it doesn't fit in at poolside with margarita. He looks more like he should be at an art gallery.

Still, he's reclined there, serene and sharply dressed, one leg angled. Possibly illusion. "I know any contact at all kicks over your busy-bee nest here, so I may as well do what I please when that happens," Loki answers, still serene, relaxed. His manner is pleasant, and doesn't convey any immediate threat. He's in a patient, good mood. Which is about as 'good' as it gets in terms of diplomacy. "I bring good news."
Natasha Romanova And Natasha turns around to face Loki. The weapon is ready, but not pointed over at him. It's just as possible it's an illusion and even if it isn't the weapon isn't likely to do much to him. And unless Clea or Wanda shows up, there's little around that would do more than amuse him.

"What brings you to the Mansion? You appear to be making yourself at home." No move to advance.. But no move to threaten either. But her face doesn't show any amusement. But..

Thor has returned from space which means that Loki is no longer Prince Regent so she doesn't -have- to be as openly deferential to him as she would have been. Even without knowing what Odin's current state is.
Loki "I knew I /liked/ you. Always so perceptive," Loki compliments. It's an open, warm tone. Were it not Loki, it might have landed really genuinely. In fact, it does: Loki's an insanely good actor when he puts energy into it. But, of course, Natasha will know better, and everything Loki says is potentially either truth or lie. "It hardly seems in character that I JUST visit to offer drinks, hmm? Accurate, I do not intend to barkeep. It's self-service." There's a soft gesture at the bar.

"But back to what I was saying. Perceptive. You're that history of dark ops, murder, terrible horrors in your past. And yet here you are. What a heartwarming story," Loki chatters. He likes to talk, but this isn't about nothing. It's Loki talking around a topic in a way that pleases him - he'll get to his point when he's good and ready.

"My /good news/ is I've decided to become an Avenger. What are the next steps: one ex-murderer to another?" Loki asks, with a complete tone of royal assumption. "Is it a welcome party?" Loki sips his margarita, cool as ever.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff isn't relaxed, but she's also known that she can't do anything to -get- Loki to be up front, and that he enjoys stringing everyone around that's not capable of smashing him in the face and making it stick. "So, what has you deciding to drop in here to grace us with your company?" SHe's also known that Loki never shows up randomly - there's always a reason (at least as he defines it).

There's no rushing him into something unless one can play him at his own game. "Yes, I'm quite aware of my own history." She would quip over a thim. "And I'm very glad htat you've found it so interesting. Perhaps there are some aspects of it that you don't know you might want to know more on?" A light jab as she goes for something small back at him.

"Well, you can't exactly just decide to become an Avenger. It doesn't quite work that way. However, there's no reason that you couldn't qualify as a potential candidate." Rather than being evasive, outright denying.. She goes for the 'of course you could'.
Loki "Why not? If you'd like to share your background, your desires and lost hopes with me," Loki says smoothly. It comes off a little bit like a therapy-session tone. Helpful. But it's still Loki, which adds that quality of possible bullshit. Even if he WERE being honest, there's no trust at all for it.

The denial, which is where Natasha starts, was obviously expected. Loki came with the assumption of being attacked and getting to play the victim. Perhaps he even arrived entirely ready to bombard with angry righteous flame when he was UnJustly Denied.

When Nat doesn't, in fact, directly turn aggressive, there's a small flare in there of puzzlement that plays in green eyes. He expected the Avengers to be super nasty about this. So he's off balance for that moment. There's a 'what, really?' in his face, and then it gets covered. Loki's quick. "WELL, there's no need to do normal candidacy procedures. Nepotism will work fine. What do you need to do, inform your Captain America?, then?"
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would nod over at Loki and would cross her arms behind her back after sliding the weapon over her shoulder after setting the safety on and powering it down. There's no response over to his snark about her past at all as she goes back to the primary topic.

"As you said, some of the Avengers can have somewhat checkered pasts. I'll speak if you are interested to Captain Rodgers and see what his thoughts are on the matter. He's likely to going to want to speak ot you himself on it before rendering a final judgement. If you are interested, being a member of the team entails a number of responsibilities and obligations. I presume that you're already familiar with them and willing to adhere to them if you've come to make the offer." SHe doesn't add 'in good faith' but it's there by her tone of voice.
Loki "I'd offer a drink, but we both know you won't take one," Loki sighs, as if demonstrating his friendliness that is being rebuffed by uptight Natasha. But he's not taking it personally: see how much he's grown?

Though that he isn't treating Natasha like a squishable ant is already a big growth point for Loki, at least from the situation so far.

"I have run a Kingdom recently and resolved multiple diplomatic potential wars, protecting Asgard from many bloodshed. If one were to look at my /recent/ resume." As in, recently Loki used diplomacy instead of war, with good success. Maybe war isn't his thing...

"I simply found heroism quite interesting. Why not look into it further?" Loki serenely observes. "Good. Have the Captain ring the tiki bar bell, then." It's decided!

Loki pulls magic in, then, across his hands, in a green arch. The tiki bar was just illusion, but he's summoning it in properly, now.

No doubt ALL the alarms now go off in the mansion about a summoning. "Before you panic, I'm not putting an army in your pool." Calm, sly.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would nod over, "Of course. As you said, a number of us have our own demons, metaphorically and literally, and we all understand wishing for redemption and to help make amends. I will definitely approach the rest of the team on the matter and there will be followup, likely from Captain Rodgers. If he has faith in you, then you are likely to be let onto the team as we will defer to his judgement." There's quite a few other things involved of course and likely some ranting..

Which is why that Natasha would if Loki is serious about this to dump it on the lap of Steve and let him handle it.
Loki Loki is still treating this as if he's already in the team. That it's just paperwork, getting him a badge.

But in some ways, that's a way for Loki to protect himself: to not appear weak, or appear to be in a situation where he'll be rejected. He's saving a lot of face in this style of presumptive approach - because if denied, he can react to it without feeling like he lost. Feeling like he lost is awful - rejection's awful.

"Fine. Prepare your party shoes," Loki bids, keeping that same line of assumption that he's as good as in. That they'd be thrilled to have him.

And if not ... well. One step at a time...

Loki finishes summoning the tiki hut in properly (it's now present - entirely normal, other than that it was summoned with Asgardian magic), and then Loki himself fades away from sight.
