Alexander Aaron     Down the hall in the depths of the Triskelion's storage bays there came a beeping sound. In the headquarters of SHIELD it was never a wise thing to ignore a beep, because so many various articles, items, and equipment emitted a beep under the most dire of circumstances. Were this the R&D wing it might be cause for great alarm. Or in the stockade it might be cause for a sudden rush of activity. Down here in the storage area, just down the way from the cafeteria? It was cause for mild consternation.
For Agent Aaron and his partner Agent Kelso, however, it was merely the beep of a hand scanner unit that was helping the two young SHIELD agents to take inventory in one of the older storage areas that with the amount of dust and the items in storage there... seems like it hasn't been touched in years.
"One package of 48 jars, contents: pickled onions. Sealed on roller 7, shelf 17A." A beep was heard as Alexander stood up on his tiptoes to make the scan, while behind him the other SHIELD Agent nodded and lightly swiped a gloved fingertip across the data display in his hand.
    "Roger that, pickled onions. Check."
"Three 24 pack packages of Easter Marshmallow confections in the shape of baby chickens. Sealed on roller 7, Shelf 17B."
    "72 marshmallow peeps, check."
After a moment Alexander took a deep breath, heaved a small sigh and said. "Man."
"Yeah..." Kelso, a young man a little larger and heavier than Alexander gave a nod. "Exhausting. When I thought I'd join SHIELD, man. I expected it to be more glamorous than this. They don't show this junk on the recruitment pamphlets."
    "No doubt."
Stefani Houston There was everything and more down in this place, and it was a very great thing to Agent Houston. A lot of this stuff, so she had found, could be claimed if she just asked the Quartermaster in charge of it. It's possible that he might have a bit of a charmed feeling for Stefani though, and seemingly willing to let her have whatever she asked for.

Case in point... She'd asked for a very specific thing after finding it on the inventory list while boredly perusing it earlier in the day.

Thus, when Alex and his partner exchange their distaste for how their lives could've lead them to THIS part of SHIELD work, there comes a echoing thud as a heavy object hits the polished concrete floor.

When they step around to peer at the source, they'll find Agent Houston standing there, having just ripped the lid off and deposited it without ANY ceremony upon the ground.

Her ponytail sways behind her back, her form wearing a black sleeveless top, black specially designed trousers that form to her shape, and still allow oxygen to freely find her skin without exposing any at the same time, and a pair of fairly new combat boots.

She's searching around inside a crate for something within it, and soon there comes a tearing sound...

Stefani turns around, holding a box of those Marshmallow Peeps in her hands, one held up to her lips as she has already bitten half of it off.

She just leans back against the box, raises her chin up, closes her eyes, and chews in pure bliss...
Alexander Aaron     "Heeey." Is the first thing that Alexander says, the tone of his voice affecting a hint of mild outrage at such a horrible horrible transgression. Yet should she meet his eyes as he leans around that corner she'll see more of a smile than a look of condemnation. Though when Kelso's head appears around that corner as well, just a little above Alexander's, she'll hear his voice as well.
"Oh. Hello, ma'am. We were just... doing inventory."
Since apparently he recognizes her. Or perhaps... has heard of her reputation. Though, to be fair, her silhouette is very memorable as well. Yet Alex points, "Those are in secure storage, you can't just bust them open and munch on them." So stern and bossy.
But Kelso leans in to whisper, "Shh, chill man. That lady is deadly. She could mess you up before you could blink." But then he raises his voice and addresses Quiet.
"Sorry about the confusion, ma'am. Carry on with your business. We'll get back to it." He then pulls Alex back around the shelving unit.
Stefani Houston Stef's chin lowers down as she keeps chewing, and now staring. Staring right at Alex. She chews more, and stares more. The second half of her first Peep is held on to for a tactical moment that comes when the other guy draws Alex's eyes off of her.

Alex is hit in the left eye by half a Marshmallow Peep! Poof!

Quiet's fingers start to dig another fresh whole Peep out of the bag from the box she'd pulled them from, and a new half is bit in to.

Curiosity comes to the strange woman, and she starts moving toward where the two of them retreat to. Now they have a third on this boring assignment of mundane affairs... a third who is walking along behind them, eyeing these other boxes whilst enjoying the rest of that second Peep.

Packaging crinkles as she goes in for a third now. Her eyes roam over the other boxes, then look to the two men ahead of her.

She pops the third Peep in to her mouth, aaaaaaaaaaaaand bites it in half too. "Mmmmf." Quiet says there-after.
Alexander Aaron     "You see that, man?" Alexander's voice was a little sharp, but there was a hint of laughter to it. He tries to lean back around and shoot daggers with his eyeballs at the rudeness that is Stefanie 'Quiet' Houston. Though Kelso, ever having his back, keeps him from doing anything crazy. Obviously.
But then they're back behind the shelves of that roller and Alex takes up the scanner once again, though not before he crinkles his nose at Quiet as if admonishing her for her peep abuse. Then Kelso's voice is heard, "Alright next up should be... Shelf 17C. One, 1, 12 Pack of 8-Track tape recordings of Earth Wind and Fire's Album: I Am. You see that?"
To which Alexander answers, "Should we do this while she's around? She's probably going to steal them all."
"What? Haha, nooo noo, she wouldn't do that." Agent Kelso looks over at Agent Houston and smiles a little nervously, "Sorry, ma'am. He's a little wound up today."
Then quickly it's back over toward Alex, "Bud, chill. For reals."
Stefani Houston Chewing. Standing. Watching. Quietly.

Stefani finishes the third Peep, and tucks the package in to a dark green fanny pack that is strapped around her waist. She walks toward athe shelf with the indicated music 8-track, seemingly ignoring the two guys entirely as she just zeroes in on it.

As they debate whether or not she'd take them too, Quiet pops the lid open to look inside... With her chin down now, and the guys standing just over her left shoulder, Stef starts rooting around inside the box before she slides one of the cassette boxes out to turn it around and stare at its old printed label.

She smiles at the art. She stands there smiling at it like the two talkative dudes behind her aren't even there...

She's definitely going to steal it now. Right?
Alexander Aaron     "So much stealing." Alexander then grins and lightly bumps her hip a little as he passes by when Kelso's not looking. But then they take up the scanner and the datapad, and to Kelso's credit he tries to get back on track. But he can't help still stealing a glance now and again at the silent woman who seems to be going through the stock that they're auditing.
Then there's a chirp from the comm unit on Kelso's shoulder which has him keying it to life with a squeeze of one hand around the receiver. He tilts his head, listening to the feed and giving a nod toward Alexander before he steps back.
"Alright, I gotta step away, man. But like..." He looks over at Quiet as she's smiling and going through yet more of the loot. He drops his voice to a whisper. "Just be cool, okay?"
And with that the other SHIELD agent heads toward the door, the mechanized entryway whispering open and then shut behind him. Alex turns and starts to get back on task. But then he says, "Earth Wind and Fire? Seriously?"
Stefani Houston While the two converse behind her, Quiet just reads the label on the cassette whilst enjoying a fourth Peep. It's not until Kelso leaves that she turns around again. She eyes Alex, then looks at the cassette, then looks back up at him, then puts the rest of the Peep in her mouth and chews on it.

The 8-track is put in the same fanny pack as the package of Peeps, and she signs at Alex 'I'm old. Don't judge me.'

Though she's admittedly unsure if Alex knows how to read sign language or not, as she's only started using it more openly in the past 8 months or so, of which they had not seen much of one another.

Stef pulls a small bottle of water out of her fanny pack as she starts to wander the row of boxes, searching for labels on the boxes themselves to see if they indicate what is in each one.

She leaves the 8-track box open, making a right mess of the storage area down here, or at least this part of it!

She walks right past Alex, her ponytail swaying around behind her shoulders as she looks from one crate to the next, taking a swig of water from the little half-bottle in her right hand.
Alexander Aaron     The young man answers her with a slight twist to his smile as he says, "How old do I have to be before I can be all judgey?" Though he seems very at ease as he continues taking the inventory, though it takes him a bit longer without Kelso there to relay the information. He checks the datapad, peruses the shelf, nods to himself, then makes the mark on the tablet. It's fairly slow going, to be fair.
Though at the least he seems alright with chit-chatting while he works. "This is the first time I've seen you in a SHIELDish uniform." A glance is given again, then he focuses back on the task at hand.
"I didn't know you were back ni town. Since it's been a while." The last time he saw her was... when his cousin was visiting? And she left her sniper rifle in his house. Those pale eyebrows of his rose up a bit, "Oh hey, I still have that firearm in storage. By the bye. In Greenwich."
Stefani Houston A few more crates are glanced over, one is even approached, where Stef leans her head down to put her ear up to it... as if she could hear something inside it. Her eyes half-lidded as she listens.

But then she pulls back again, straightening up once more. Her water is recapped and sat down on the shelf in front of her as she faces Alex, using her hands and facial expressions to sign out her response.

'I can get it any time you would like. I have just been over seas up until recently. I am settling in again.'

She shows a light smile to him then before her right hand reaches down, forefinger and thumb picking a fifth Peep out of the little pocket on the front of her fanny pack. She places it in her mouth, holding it there half-in-half-out and signs a little more at him.

'I am all in on SHIELD now..' She has to spell the word out letter by letter. 'So they have been supplying me with new equipment. Weapons. Gear.' She states before placing her right hand upon her stomach, indicating that fancy outfit she's wearing is from SHIELD labs, most likely.

Her hand goes up then to pop half the Peep back out from betweenst her lips, the other half lost inside her mouth.

More chewing is had, more perusing the crates on the shelves takes place then too.
Alexander Aaron     "Only if you like," He answers her about the rifle as he steps around the sliding storage rack, slipping around to another series of shelves. A little further away but working back in her direction as he continues with the scintilating and exciting inventory action. "It reminds me of you, so it's not unwelcome."
That said he lifts the scanner and takes the readings of the next rack, frowning to himself as he fiddles with the tablet. A glance is given toward her, "I joined up relatively recently as well. Did you have to test out? Or do any training?"
A beat as he sets the tablet down and steps toward her, and if she doesn't object he will lift a hand... to slowly purloin that remaining half of the peep. And then chomp.
He ducks under one of the lower hanging racks and grabs a hold of a large crate, sliiiding it out from underneath it with the wood scraping the concrete floor. "I had to run the whole gauntlet. It was... kind of fun, to be fair."
Stefani Houston Stefani relinquishes that Half a Peep to Alex as her water bottle is gathered up again now to replace it. She has another sip of the tastey cold H2o within before recapping it again. The thing he says about the weapon reminding him of her does garner a smile on her pink hued lips, but his question about her own joining of the agency gets her to set the bottle aside once more.

'My tests were mostly medical oriented, because of my situation. They have known of what I am capable of in the field for a long time, following my jobs throughout eastern Europe and in to Asia. I think they more want me for researching the ins and outs of what makes me tick, than they really care for what I can do. But I do not mind either way. I'm doing what I like to do here, and most are nice here too.'

It's a lot of graceful hand movements, facial expressions and general body language that she uses to convey all of this, including a small smile.

She dips over to him then to snatch the inventory list from him, wanting to read it over herself...

Likely to steal more loot...
Alexander Aaron     And she finds a lot of rather curious items on that list, things that come from that interim era between SHIELD's inception and its present day. There is a collection of Car and Driver magazines from the 1960s. 24 disassembled wood stoves meant for field work. A package of ancient peppermint flavored chewing gum which is infused with quite a few various elements and ingredients that are illegal in this day and age. There's even a box of 6 copies of the board game Mouse Trap that are unopened and still sealed.
It's quite a hefty list and curious why some of these things are deemed worthwhile to maintain in storage. Perhaps it's simply due to the bureaucracy that is within the depths of the Triskelion. But at the least it's interesting.
"That's... I mean it's good you're ok with it. But, I was sort of worried about that." Alexander steps around to the side and pulls out the crate that has the chewing gum in it, he considers it and then quirks an eyebrow at her, curious if she's going to try it.
"Worried that if they knew about my nature and my father, that I'd spend more time in R&D as a test subject than doing anything productive... like this." He half-smirks a little.
Stefani Houston Stef just stands there reading the list over as she takes another sip of the purified water. She listens to him talk though, and when he moves to the crate with the gum, she's right there to eyeball it.

She even leans in to the crate to read the label before she shoves the lid back without any effort at all. Her hand just slaps down inside the crate, beginning to dig around inside it... She stares at him while she digs around inside the crate, her arm up high enough that she can't look directly in to the box itself. She bites down on her bottom lip as she searches though, affording him a silly look before she whips out a handful of gum packets and turns them over to stare down at them in her half-gloved hand, the packets resting atop the black material of her fingerless gloved palm.

She offers him one before she stuffs the rest in to her fanny pack too, then zips it shut with a quick swipe of her right hand across the front of the dark green pack!

'This is just a test. This is what they do to all of us they are not sure about. They give us tests to see if we will complain about it. Do not complain, or you will get more tests.' She signs out to him before motioning to the crates. 'This stuff is all just here to mess with people like you, Kelso, or whoever else they want to push the buttons of.'

She smirks at him then, and offers him the inventory list back.

She turns away from him then, and he'll hear the sound of the Peep package crinkling again, and seethe back of her arm as she puts another one up to her mouth to bite in to as she walks down the line of shelves once more.
Alexander Aaron     Casually, Alexander impugns her entire moral outlook when he declares her, "Gum stealer." A small 'tut' is heard from him as he walks along the shelves, taking note of some of the gear that they haven't seen listed. He takes down a blue box with a train logo on the side, looking at it curiously and sets it on the rolling cart nearby which is being used for those 'found' items.
"Yeah, sorta figured it might be one of those things." A test that they give to the noobs. He nods as he strolls along, following in her footsteps as she peruses the wares available to her grabby hands. "Though to be fair there is a lot of just... upkeep that crews need to do around here."
He slides a hand along a shelf and checks his data display again, noting the various items but not saying them out loud for now. Though there is one old package that he quirks an eyebrow at... a yellow and brown box that looks... rather aged. And on the front of it it says in a brilliant cheerful font, 'Hostess Chocodiles!' He picks the box up and tosses it toward Stefanie. "Probably stale, don't eat without looking."
Stefani Houston Stef's ponytail sways behind her shoulders, brushing over the black material of that highly breathable shirt she's wearing. Her eyes dance from box to box, as she'd not actually been down here before, and her mind races at the concept of the loot that could be pilfered from this place... Why would any of them get mad at her if they found out she swiped some Peeps, an 8-track, so on and so forth. She was willing to bet she could just smile her way out of any questions she got about it.

But when he opens that box, and produces something else that seems wonderfuly tastey, the unusual woman just returns toward him, stopping to catch what he throws at her. She tosses it up and spins it in mid-air until it lands within her hands again so that she might read its label, view its packaging... It makes her smile.

She steps over to where he found it, and peers over the open box to put her green eyes inside its contents.

"Fffffuh." She huffs audibly.

The box of treats is set aside and she signs simply. 'I don't get sick as easy as most.' for him, before she draws in a breath, considers her thoughts and continues with her hand motions.

'I'm glad you joined the Agency.' She says through the motion of those hands, and the expressions upon her face showing happiness.

'I hope you do not get beat up and quit like a baby loser.' She adds, though there may be some lost in translation happening there! Maybe!
Alexander Aaron     "Too late, you hurt my feelings, quitting right now."
Alexander says those words with that casual dead pan he uses almost ninety percent of the time. But she can see that slight smile creeping into place on the corner of his mouth. Those pale hazel eyes of his can be so disconcerting sometimes, so alien in some ways with that strange coloration. But when he smiles sidelong at her, that smile just lights up his features.
He makes a few checks on his list and bites his lower lip as he stands up on his tip toes trying to reach one of the higher shelves, but then giving up and instead walking down the aisle a little to grab one of those rolling step stools. He brings it over and locks the wheels in place, then climbs up it to look into a mass of... what looks like vacuum sealed clothes. Clothes... with _extraordinary_ prints and apparently made of... polyester?
"But thanks," He finally says, "I'm glad I joined too. Don't tell the others," Alex glances off in the direction Kelso ran off, then back toward the shelf he's working on, going through those clothing packages as if looking for something in particular. "But I... really like doing normal things. Just taking a chance to sort of sit back and be... normal. It's like, I dunno. A mental vacation in some ways."
Stefani Houston Stef just remained where she shood as he garnered that step ladder, then made his way up there to that next high up box. She'd watched him do this, his joke having gotten a big smirk from her, as she was prone to do.

It isn't until he has that box open, and is peering inside it that she just apears beside it, seated on the shelf with her legs dangling down from it, still reforming back IN to legs, as she'd gone 'smoke' just to get up there so quickly.

She too peers inside it, and reaches a fingerless-gloved-hand in to pick one of the plastic sealed garments up.

Crinkly plastic noises.

She drops it on to her lap, then turns it over to appraise the opposite side too. Her head shakes side to side then as her hands go up to sign once more...

'All of this should go to Good Will.'

followed by...

'I don't know what normal is anymore, but I hope you feel better if you think you have found it.'

Another light smile shows then upon her pink hued lips.

And of course one of the Hostess cakes just seemingly appears from her lap, and is lifted up to her mouth to be bitten in to nice and softly.
Alexander Aaron     "No, it's supposed to stay here actually. Something..." He turns and shows her the datapad. "Item #87483-AIz. The lower case zed means there's something possibly useful or detrimental to the content of said item." He looks at the package and shakes it a little, then tosses it back in the box. "So they might be, I don't know, super clothes."
It's only then that he looks over at her and smirks at the way she had been able to appear already up on the shelf. He shook his head, clearly not wanting to encourage her to show off any more. Yet he continues on his work and when she speaks to what is and isn't normal he gives a slow nod with raised eyebrows, as if accepting the truth in her statement.
"I think it's... a lack of fantastic elements, excluding myself. So things that are... mundane." He makes a face, "When I have days off and when my friends are doing other things, you know what I do? Other than my like, normal routine. But I mean like for fun?"
He then hops off that stool and lands on the floor with a slight thwap-whap of his boot heels. Then he's walking around the corner. "I watch this channel it's called SlowTV. It just shows... normal things that last a long time. My favorite thing on it? Full 9 hours worth of train trips, just through Norway or Sweden. Just a camera on the front of the train and all this beautiful scenery. No idea why I love it so much."
Stefani Houston Queit tosses the garment bag back in to the crate before he can seal it up again, then she just drops from the shelf back to the floor below. Landing with a slower descent than the average person might, it leaves her entirely unaffected by the fall. She just waits for him then before she starts to walk with him, still nibbling on that Hostess product.

The box of them are snatched up as she passes by it too, and as they walk she pours the contents of the box in to her fanny pack resting over her lap, its seams starting to get bulked outward now.

When the box is emptied, she just tosses it over her shoulder, and pops the last bite of the cake in to her mouth.

She chews on it as she signs something to him....

'Trains are the best.' She says first, following that up with. 'You want normal, to push back on crazy. You have an old soul. I have known many people with old souls. I think it is common in warriors.'
Alexander Aaron     "I sometimes wonder," Alex says as she signs that last sentiment. But he doesn't elaborate. Instead he gets to the end of the aisle and then doubles back, his brow furrowing as he strolls by her. When he gets near that discard box he scoops down to pick it up, holding it in one hand and cocking an eyebrow at her as he silently admonishes her littering. But then he tucks it under his arm as he continues about his way.
Something has likely avoided his count, or he's having a hard time finding something. But for now he's wandering slowly back and forth, moving each box a little to the side to make sure nothing is hiding behond one or the other. After a moment he murmurs sidelong to her. "You know you reminded me of my dad there for a second. Which is mildly disturbing." He says that last by pointing at her a little.
"Every now and again though I'm vaguely tempted to take a year off and just travel."
Stefani Houston The Quiet woman ends up beside another box that is already open for some reason, which has her peering inside it to find it's filled with only bits of styrofoam. That's disappointing to her, and it shows with a facial expression befitting the emotion.

But she does a little double-take toward him when he says the bit about her comment reminding him of his father.

This gets a smile from her, and she offers a quick...

'I'm over sixty years old. I am an old soul, and old everything else now.'

Though the look on her very not 60 year old face shows she's happy about this, or at least doesn't mind it.

She does a quick look around then, her head going left, her ponytail snapping to the motion. Her head going right, her ponytail bouncing in response. Then she looks right at him, waits for him to regard her, and she signs again.

'What are you looking for? You are not going to find a cure for you being anything but normal down here.'
Alexander Aaron     "So old, so decrepit. A wonder they keep you on here at SHIELD." Alex says with a cluck of his tongue, oh so admonishing her for her clear lack of vibrance and youth.
Yet he taps the stylus of the datapad against it and then turns to show the list to her. The small glowing LED display shows the object he's looking for is a 1965 portable planetarium by HASBRO. "It should be a fairly large box, but I don't want to start tearing open crates."
Alex works on his lower lips, biting it a little as he turns back toward her and walks past. "In any case..." He stands up on his tip toes as he looks for that box while strolling down the aisle. "You don't look a day over 59."
Stefani Houston Quiet just smirks at him, not phased at all about being called 'old'. She knows she's not even really Human anymore, and that she actually has been gone for a long time. She's happy to be what she is though, even if it has had its bumpy moments all the same.

She appears in front of him again, even tips the datapad thing back a bit so she can read it better, then she looks up to him... and tilts her head.

'Why?' She asks with just one signed word.

But then he's off searching again, and she just keeps repeating it over and over.

"Why?'
'Why?'
'Why?'

Finally though, after a few more moments of thought, she sweeps her eyes side to side, before asking him 'Is there a GI Joe aircraft carrier on the manifest? I want one of those.'
