Warren Worthington Warren was so excited. He was going to take Kitty to the moon, to see an actual Moonbase, built in the 1960's by his paternal grandparents. There would be rockets, and drinks, and vistas yet unseen. There was the promise of space travel and exploration. There was the last answers to the questions about the mysterious signal, and all the hidden gems that the real gem had lead them to. But at the Blue Origin launch site, the pair sat in a fairly mundane waiting area only to learn that the launch had been aborted. The landing location 'no longer existed'. The pair had used their resources to pull up footage showing a small puff of dust at the location they had planned to visit. Warren stared on with a flat expression and was silent for a long while.
Warren Worthington Warren Worthington says, "Kitty...did my moon base dreams just go out with a whimper?"
Kitty Pryde Kitty sits in the moderately comfortable upholstered seat, her tablet rest on her knees as she replays the footage. She bites down on her lips and reaches over to rest a hand on the angelic mutant's back. "I..." she starts to say, but then trails off as if struggling for the right words to say.

"I don't know. It might have been dangerous anyway, not sure what was going on there," she tells Warren gently. "The UN is working on a moon base. Maybe you could be a corporate sponsor there. Get your own section for R&D and things?" she suggests, keeping her voice gentle as she tries to put the best spin on it she can. "And then you'd have the redundancy of systems and methods of getting there for safety and..." she says, again finally trailing off.

She gently rests her head against Warren's shoulder. Knowing even if there are other options, it won't lessen what he's feeling.
Warren Worthington Warren Worthington nodded after a moment or two of introspection. "I am so rarely disappointed in anything." he admitted in revelation. "I am so rarely -denied- anything." he said, almost in moderated self loathing. "I bet a normal person would just say 'Oh it was never going to work out to begin with.' but I actually feel sad right now.' as he exhaled through his nose and closed his lips. "Do you feel it?"
Kitty Pryde Kitty's hand gently rubs against the older mutant's back, between his wings. "Yeah, I feel it too," she tells him. The hand slides further across so she can side hug him. And then apparently figuring that isn't enough, she turns to face him and wraps both arms around him to hug Warren tightly. "I'm sorry it happened. We'll find out what. I mean it could have been a meteor impact or something. Or, not. Either way, we'll still get to the bottom of it," she tells him, trying to sound reassuring.

"If there is one silver lining it happened now and three days from now when we've have been there," she says quietly.
Warren Worthington Warren Worthington folded her lightly in an arm and a wing once she had made the intention of touching it, to hold her. His eyes were glassy in a sort of pre-cry that welled with emotion, but wasn't a sincere cry. "I wonder what was up there." and then he laughed, and his whole face lit up as he dabbed the corner of one eye. "Do you know what I was thinking the other day? What if it was some kind of Hippie love nest? You know, wall to wall earth tones, shag carpeting so thick you could lose your wallet in it? Incense burners, On the Road by Jack Karouac on the table in the lounge?"
Kitty Pryde Kitty lets out a warm laugh at that, as Warren cheers her up, hopefully cheers himself a little in the doing. "Was that your hope?" she teases him. "I do look good in John Lennon sunglasses," she announces to Warren quietly.

"I don't know, you're the one that knows your ancestors," she says, smiling at him and hoping the smile is infectious for him. "Well, we'll figure out what went on, and we'll get up there just the same," she tells him. "Though maybe I'll include more 60s and 70s in my space playlist this time?" Kitty teases warmly. She reaches over to slip a hand into Warren's. Squeezing and letting him know he's not along going through this.
Warren Worthington Warren Worthington watched her from his taller vantage, and she could tell he was privately admiring. "You are my best friend, you know that don't you?" he smiled and looked away for a moment back to the screen. "Its not over, and I am not so easily dissuaded. I would not be Angel if I gave up when faced with a little adversity. We will uncover this mystery, just not today." he cleared his throat and then announced, "I'll put some people on this. For now though, how do you feel about Nobu? Bobby De Niro invited me, plus one, out tonight. I had told him I was going to the moon, but now it looks like I'm free." he widened his eyes to show, leading amusement.
Kitty Pryde "Oh, well, you know," Kitty replies fairly straight-faced to Warren, "Pacino and Meryl Streep had wanted me by for their bridge night. But Pacino's voice, so rough to listen to these days. I suppose I could slum with De Niro instead," she teases, reaching over to give Warren a little tickle along his ribs as she does.

"Sure. I'm here for you, tonight and whenever you need, you know that," she tells him. Kitty leans her head against the taller man's shoulder again. "It'll be something to get our minds somewhere better tonight," she agrees. "The rest can wait while it's being investigated."

Kitty leans up to brush a gentle kiss against the man's lips. They may not quite be back together like they were, but the display of affection seems warranted.
