Bando George     It's quite a lovely day, really. The late morning of the harbor is breezy and mild, mostly cloudy, but plenty of sun still peeks through. Bando, enjoying the last days before he starts college, has decided that he'll take a trip to the Statue of Liberty today. He was supposed to be going on a date. She never showed. Oh well. She probably wasn't the one anyway. He carries his knap sack over his shoulders, craning his neck up at Lady Liberty and shielding his eyes. "I gotta remember my sunglasses," he comments to himself. Out in the harbor, a couple of the ferries approach each other on their passing voyages too and from the island.
Sunny Harlow A day out was a nice treat between the life of a uni student, a waitress and the heroics of a rookie heroine (though she'd undertaken a mission to space to rescue Superman with the League, so maybe that made her a 'Journeyman' heroine now?).

With her hair tied back and a coffee cup in her hand, Sunny herself was dressed in civillian wear, simply enjoying the walk around Liberty Island from the ground level rather than the last time, when she'd landed on the torch.
Bando George     Bando huffs a deep breath. Well, nothing to do here, he supposes. He looks back at the harbor, a few minutes before the next ferry will arrive. He unshoulders his bag, and pulls outt a room temperature energy drink, and pops the top. He spots Sunny walking past, and gives one of those friendly nods that someone gives a stranger as he takes his first sip, only to freeze in mid expression, and look past her in confusion. A moment later he understands what he's looking at.

"Orcas!" he announces, pointing out at the ferries. Sure enough, there are several orcas around the ferries, cresting with their great fins and tails. "That is so cool! I've never seen one in the wild before!" Is he talking to Sunny? Maybe.

However, the orcas, for all their beauty, seem to be circling one of the ferries a little tightly. As the passengers take their photos from the edge, suddenly there is a lurch against the ferry, and the people rock to one side, a few fall down. There's another lurch, and the ferry changes course from the second strike, a little more torward the ferry coming the other direction. Exactly what's happening may be difficult to say, did the whale bump the boat? That wouldn't be common.
Sunny Harlow Could she survive underwater? The thought crossed Sunny's mind absently. After all, if she could survive space surely the water wouldn't be that much more dangerous, right? Then again, even Sunny wasn't really certain she wanted to deal with the polution of the waterways around New York!

The nod was returned with a bright smile worthy of her namesake, friendly as ever before the call of the animal had her blinking and looking closer.

Awesome...and weird, given they were bumping against the boat.
Bando George     "I thought orcas are supposed to be friendly and all, right?" Bando says. He raises his free hand to shield his eyes again. Things are not right. Suddenly there's that horrible moment when something odd becomes something terrible. The crunching of metal announces that the ferries were indeed quite close, and the turning ferry plows into the side of its sister ship, pulling open the hull like a can opener. Immediately, water begins to gush into the ferry, and the two ships become locked together by the impact.

"Oh wow, did they just...they just hit!" Bando states the obvious. "Oh man! Uh, good to meet you," he announces, as if the conversation had been going on for some time. "Gotta go!" He immediately starts sprinting for the edge of the island to get closer to the water, though the distance is clearly much too far for anyone on the land to do much. His knap sack bounces back and forth wildly, his knees high as he approaches the water. He doesn't, however, drop his energy drink.
Sunny Harlow "Maybe that's dolphins? Or maybe they're confused or something?" Sunny comments, frowning a little at the chaos of the sudden collision, the moment she saw it was more than a scrape she was making to move...only Bando was moving before her. Huh!

Still, no time to ponder it too much, the girl was running...but she was running away from the crowd, out of the line of sight!

A soft thunk of her coffee cup being placed in a trashcan and then she was pulling her shirt over her head, revealing the 'undersuit' of the costume variant she'd designed for this sort of thing.

Sure she was no Reed Richards, there was no super materials in it, but a few moments later and Indestructibelle was taking to the air, pulling her hairtie free and casting it aside.
Bando George     Bando, for his part, is doing a less secretive shedding to reveal the same thing. Of course, most people are starting to look at the ferry collision. He unshoulders his bag as he gets to the dock, and pulls a cowl out that fits over his head snugly. A remarkable fit, really. The blue and white contrast says he isn't a dark type of hero. He peels out of his clothes like he'd be a streaker, only to find a hero's outfit underneath of his own. He managed to hold onto that energy drink still. He takes a moment to chug the entire thing rather than discard it. A strange priority perhaps. *fwump*

He disappears from sight, reappearing in the air closer to the ferry taking on water. Another teleport and he appears closer. And again. By the fourth he lands on the deck, people scrambling around frantically as the large ship starts to lean down to one side. Still, he doesn't seem to know what to do once he's made it.

The orcas don't seem to have stopped, something has clearly agitated them, and the ferry they had attacked initially is currently still being bludgeoned by them.
Sunny Harlow People first, whale problems next! Sunny was in the air and zipping towards the ferry. Of course, she was strong, but she had no idea how heavy the ferry was and she didn't want to make things worse by applying too much force on the wrong spot...so the blonde streak in her own blue and white costume seemed to be headed to try and scoop people out of danger first.
Bando George     Bando spots Sunny arriving. Oh good, another hero! "Hey!" he teleports again, though he seems to get his orientation wrong, and lands on his back, on the roof of the boat. "We need like, life boats or something!" Bando yells up to her as she scoops people, and seeks to right himself, getting back on his feet. He looks down at the hole beneath, and starts searching around the ship for something to use on the hole. He can't safely transport people back to the shore, so he focuses on buying more time. Suddenly the intact ship takes a nose first tip, the back coming up from the water as it is pulled down by the other ship. Several people fall into the water, splashing in where there are several annoyed orcas. Bando leaps from the top without a second though, diving headfirst into the water and starting to swim toward the closest overboard.
Sunny Harlow A teleporter? That's neat! If not a little startling, but at least the blonde Belle manages not to eep in front of the rescuees. Lifting the next survivor off the boat, the sudden impact has Sunny looking back, blinking as Bando jumps in and then her eyes widening to spot the people who'd fallen in.

If the orcas went after them? It could be horrible!
Bando George     Bando grabs two older women in the water, and starts pulling them toward the ferry, but finds that they are being sucked by the water pouring into the first ferry. A really bad recipe for disaster. The young hero looks around frantically, and then desperately teleports...a part of the ferry? The panel of the top of the ferry that is sinking suddenly goes *fwump* into nothing, and reappears at the gap where the two ships are converged. It doesn't stop the water from entering, but it does stop the strong current pull that was about to drag the three into the hull of the ship.

That seems great and all, until a large fin comes up, and the blue and white hero yelps out, disappearing under the water. Did he just get grabbed?
Sunny Harlow Crap. Crap! Well, looks like she was going to be wrestling with a whale -and- finding out how she'd do moving in water. Driving beneath the surface, the rush of flight changing to swimming had her moving like a torpedo into the depths, headed to try and find Bando where he had disappeared underneath the water.
Bando George     Under the water, Bando is being drug by his leg down by one of the several orcas in the area, flopping behind it as it pulls him deeper. Up above the ferry is still sinking. He grips the whales mouth, trying to pry himself free even as a small trail of blood streaks behind the descending creature.
Sunny Harlow The water itself seemed to warp around her, almost cavitating from the rush of power that would normally cast a viltrumite up into the air. She was fast, scary, 'loud' within the depths, and she was coming to cut the whale off. In the dark, she probably looked more like some sort of weird silhouette for Bando, but her hands come to try and seize the whale's jaws with her strength.
Bando George     As the whale's mouth is seized, Bando frees himself from the creature, then there is a *fwump, and the water collapses with a concussive shock. There's a second concussive impact, like a miniature depth charge that goes off closer to the top where he reappears, and finishes his climb to air. Bando bursts out of the water, treading with his good leg. It does seem that the concussive blast from the teleport has scared a lot of the orcas, and they move away from the boats.

Up above, a flare is set off by the crew, signalling the coast guard that they are in need of help.
