Emma Frost It's a late day. Summer is starting the process of fading into fall - according to the calendar, at least. But someone hasn't told the summer weather that, and it's blisteringly hot outside. In the Hellfire Club, all is extremely cool and kept temperate. Over in the public house, Emma Frost, former White Queen of the Inner Circle, is currently sitting over at a table, sipping a martini in one of the 'for the important people' section of the area.
Leland Owlsley Leland Owlsley had always hated the heat. Every time it was even remotley hot outside he'd try his hardest to stay cooped up in his office, AC on full blast. Today however, he decided to try something different. This is how he found himself sitting in the Public House, one of the many bars of the Hellfire Club. Being part of the club also meant he had access to the VIP section, and the privacy that guaranteed. If one were to look at the right hand corner of the room they would see Leland, dressed in his signature green power suit and brown tie looking at a laptop with a furrowed brow and saying into a cellphone,

"Tell Luca to sell my shares in Deangelo Garments! This new problem of theirs will tank their stock!"
Emma Frost Sitting over in her chair, Emma Frost goes to glance over at Leland moving to speak over and then settles back, her hands going to cross together. "And what sort of problem might that be?" She's taking it as an open ended tip if the man is talking about it in a public area. "Was thier production line attacked by a supervillain? Has one of thier factories in Vietnam been raided by the authorities for slave labor-like conditions?"
Leland Owlsley Leland jumped a bit and abruptly hung up on his poor assistant. He was obviously not expecting to be interuppted in the middle of his rant. He looked up towards the source of the voice, a bitter look on his face, which quickly melted into a look of shock when he saw who it was. Why it was Emma Frost herself, one of Leland's top 15 business people to keep an eye on in his magazine. Leland cleared his throat and said,

"Oh, Miss Frost, a pleasure. Deangelo Garments is undergoing a massive audit this evening at midnight, at least that's what I've head. If one thing is out of line the Feds will be all over them."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would go to fold her hands together, "BUt of course. However, that's always the risk with this information. If your assistant has heard wrong, then you're going to take a loss, particularly if you bought it as a long term hook if it spikes." That was always the risk with investing and trying to short sell. Besides, the stock market was all about marketing and perception.

"Unless you of course were the one that found out about the audit tonight coming at midnight." And ran a competing fashion house.
Leland Owlsley Leland looks at Emma with a stoic expression on his face, and looks around before saying in a hushed tone,

"Tell no one,but I have a friend in the DA's office and he gave me the tip that it's happening tonight. I trust this guy, and he hasn't been wrong yet."

Leland than clears his throat again and looks down at his laptop again briefly, before looking back up at Emma and saying, "So, how are things going on your end of business. Your company's stock has been healthy this quarter."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would shrug, "Well, it can't be that good a tip if you're here talking about it for anyone well to do to overhear. You do well enough in the business to know that one keeps discrete on things." So basically she's asking over what his particular angle is - the rich and short sellers are rather paranoid - who wants to let other people make money that could go to them?

So Emma is the old, jaded sort that assumes eerything is played for an angle. "Why thank you. My stockbroker is always proud of how my investments are doing."
Leland Owlsley Leland grinned politly at Emma and nodded at the comment about her stockbroker, seemingly ignoring the other part of your response, but if you looked closely you could see a impatient tapping of a finger on the table. Leland then said," On my end, I have recently returned from a trip to Japan. I had a tip about a possible investment and I wanted to see it myself."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would lean back, "But of course. I do hope that you manage to get a good return out of your investment." By which she means dumping the stock before it tanks - or alternatively making a run on it after it tanks. Because investing worked that way. Sometimes one had to make sure everyone heard there was going to be an audit.
Leland Owlsley Leland grinned again and said, "But of course Miss Frost. I have already dumped my stock and have it primed on another, much more worthy investment. Let's just say The Fall Catelogue will have a lot of French in it." Was that a subtle hint at insider trading?
Emma Frost Emma Frost would ah, "Of course. Are you ensuring that or merely taking opportunity of it?" She would muse. "Teh last time I heard of heavy divestment in a fashion company was when it was firebombed by the Hobgoblin."
Leland Owlsley Leland nods and says, I was already confident in their abilities, but I have decided to make sure what I say is going to happen will happen. I have reputation to uphold and intend on keeping it."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would nod, "But of course. One can't put things on the line when it comes to reputation and investment if not that. If one does not make others have faith in you, then one merely gambles with their own money." Rather than everyone else's as a cushion. What's the point of just making a few million?
Leland Owlsley Leland nods and says, "They don't call me The Owl of Wall Street for nothing. People treat my word on companies like gospel, and I am not ready to give that up just yet, especially on something as petty as clothing."
Emma Frost Emma Frost would laugh, "Oh? The Owl? I suppose that's fair enough. One is wise and looks ahead, adn spots even the smallest cue to greater events and knows how to profit from them. Apt."
