Scott Lang Scott Lang is at the Sushi Yushu. It's not his first adventure into Gotham. He's appeared at Political rallies for Phoebe Beacon, even managed to make the news a little. A public Avenger in Gotham will turn some heads. Then there's a couple of times with Barbara. Ant-Man breaking into a place with a number of Bat-adjacent allies. Oh, and the security footage from the Clock Tower, if Bruce has access. Scott Lang has been crossing paths in the Bat-sphere, or with their allies. It may make people want to learn more about him. Especially, when he's sitting alone at a table. Speaking not oafishly loud, but loud enough if someone wanted to pay attention they could.

Alfred has many reasons for being here. Someone with a refined yet restrictive pallet wanting a surprise meal from a favorite place, a personal delicacy, reservations for a banquet, the possibilities are endless. Whatever the reason there's Scott Lang. Alfred could just approach.

Scott looks over his menu, "I ummm. I'll take the Make-y (Maki), the Tea-Makey (Temaki), Uhura-Makey (Uramaki), and do you have a Californian Sushi? I love Avocado. Some of that. Whatever you recommend. First time," and where Scott Lang thinks he's acing the pronunciation, he's failing it. Obviously this is either his first time eating sushi, or his first time ordering it by himself. That pronunciation stands out (putting it lightly).
Alfred Pennyworth Alfred Pennyworth gained an appreciation for sushi on a trip to Japan and knows the chef's father. As a favor to him he has volunteered to eat here and leave a nice review but Alfred can and does review a lot of the footage no one else has time to review and is tbus terribly aware of Mr. Lang, which woupdnt be a concerm except for the Avengers tell all. That simply cant happen to the Bat Family, so Alfred finds himself curious about the avenger and does indeed approach,"I hear very good things about the Boat for Two, though I think thats more for a date. Scott Lang isnt it?"

He is dressed in a suit but not his usual uniform and smiles disarmingly. He may be rusty, but he cam be quite disarmingly charming.
Scott Lang Hearing the voice talk about a boat for two, "Hey man, do you know how many restaurants I went to that had free meals for children? Godsends to a struggling single dad," Scott pauses for a moment. "Don't I know you from somewhere? Aren't you one of the local news anchors here or something?" Lang is still trying to figure out where he has seen Alfred before. Just something about him is familiar.

"Well, depends on whose with me. I'm not afraid to go dutch on one bill, get the lover's boat if I save a few dollars. Even if I don't need to, old Dad habits when the money wasn't so kind," he speaks rather candidly on the matter. He doesn't care about appearnce, but the check is something Scott cares about.
Alfred Pennyworth Alfred Pennyworth chuckles,"Hardly, sir. I am but a humbpe butler at the Wayne manor. Certainly not one to be wearing seven league boots and slaying dragons with Gods out of fairy tales. I was a single parent so I definely sympathize. Enjoy them while you can for they are grown up before you can blink," he smiles wbistfully tbinking of Penny...or his other children by proxy.

"I am here to write a yelp review for a friend so dont mind going netherland whatsoevet. I am flattered at thr invitation Mister Lang."
Scott Lang "That's where I've seen you! Barbara has said good things!" Scott finally makes the proper connection after the introduction. Then the Avenger talk comes out, "Look. I don't do it for the glory. I know it may not look like it, because I'm very public with my heroics. My stupid past kind of stripped me of that choice," Scott sighs and chides himself a little bit. "End of the day, it's about the world I leave behind for -her-. Make sure the world will treat her better than it treated me," and that's the rub. Scott does everything so the world can be safer, especially for his daughter.

A knowing chuckle comes from Scott, "Trust me, I know. I know it's like blinka nd suddenly they're not your little girl anymore," Scott knows that lesson thanks to his prison stint.

"Well, you could split the boat with me if it saves youa few bucks," Scott temporarily forgets whom he's talking to.
Alfred Pennyworth Alfred Pennyworth chuckles at the complete lack of operational security. Bruce got hisnlessoms from Alfred on how to keep a secret but the super hero community is...well, charming. "Ah, well a friend of Miss Gordom is always a friend of mine sir. And we all have thinfs in our past we wish to leave behind, some do it publicly, others...." he lets that subject drop.

"I do think your intentions to inspire your daughter are noble indeed. And my treat, I will calp it field research. That and I kake many recomlendations for places foe the company to have galas or luncheons." He smiles warmly.
Scott Lang Scott thinks he sees the angle. "I have a record, sir. If I kept things secret, so much would have landed at my daughter's doorstep. Same for my ex wife, her Mom. 'Why this?' 'Why that?' If I controlled the narrative. Put the target on my back, keep it off theirs," he breahtes out. "Just because I believe it to be the righ tcall for me, doesn't mean it's the right call for everyone," that's the irony. If the world was perfect, Scott would be just as private. That's not the hand was given.

And a nod comes from him when the talk eases to something for better dinner conversation.

"What's it like? Y'know, being the butler to the King of Gotham?" he asks honestly.
Alfred Pennyworth Alfred Pennyworth says, "secrets are something that have been a part of my life, eveey part of it for as lonb as I can remember. Discretion comes with the job, and a butler never tells." He smiles and places the order for the susbi.

"I dont tell his secrets sir bit I can teol you mine and if Miss Gordon trusts you thats good for me. Its am honor really. You know better than most that people see onky the smallest bit of the good they do and my employer does mote than anyone I know, on the field and off it. His money moves to help many through the foundation. Its a lot of worry and a lt of work, but worth every day. I thought my previpus profession made a difference, but there is no comparison. By proxy, I help them help well....everyone. And whats it like veing an Avenger good sir?""
Scott Lang "I just work for Mister Stark. I've seen him do some bold things. I was curious if he did similar," but Scott will relent.

"Do you get days off? Most people don't hear about that," he's always been curious. "What would you be doing if it wasn't for this?" he poses and will nod about Barbara. "Miss Gordon is pretty amazing. And I guess I should thank your employer. Because of that money, if I were a CEO with Lang LLC, or something, I'd put a location in Gotham. I'd want to invest," because he knows if it's not from Bruce, it's from the adopted ward that's into politics. Scott credits Bruce for that. So, that's a reflection on Bruce and his values in Scott's mind.
Alfred Pennyworth Alfred Pennyworth chucklew,"I could walk away today a rich man and never work another day in my life. Thomas Wayne alone left me a pension that set me for life amd since then Master Bruce has been quite generpus. But I fear..." he pauses and sips wine as it is poured l, always speaking when the waiters are not near and the conversation is drowned in the din of the restaurant,"I fear for all of them I dont remind them they are human, and have to live lives in daylight. Tjeir inertia is brigjt and buoyamt amd alive, but I fear it is one bad day from...darkness ajd despair...." He lpoks into his wine for several moments and then smiles. "And ehat would Lang LLC do as a business model Mister Lang?"
