Julian Keller Devil's Tower, Wyoming. It a towering monolith on the landscape. The relatively flat lands of Wyoming has the sights broken up by the nearly 900 foot tall rock. It is not a climb for beginners, nor is such a technical climb that one needs years and years of experience. While it is certainly capable of being climbed solo or with a team, there are guided tours with professional outfitters readily available.

Julian is apart of one of those groups. He's already been fitted with his harness and hardhat (safety first). "I flew in from New York this morning, and you're telling me we have to wait at least 30 more minutes for the fog to clear? I didn't pay last minute rates to just stand around and wait." His arms cross over his chest as he looks at the group leader tapping his foot. "This is dumb."
Lara Croft Lara Croft had had a tumultuous past year. Causing an apocalypse, then fighting it off and preventing it from happening... that alone was enough to make someone need a vacation. But what? Her friends had suggested this site, this place, and Lara had taken them up on it. She was one of SHIELD's most experienced climbers, however, but the site looked beautiful, and she had meant to experience more of the United States than just the small selection of places she'd been within it so far.

Thus the British noblewoman find herself on site at the same time as Julian. She's joining the same expedition team he's on too, no less, with a call-ahead and confirmation letting the team leader know she was an experienced climber, with skill even in free solo climbing. In fact, that was what she was kitted out for today as she made her way down a side trail, a small pack and light attire worn, with a long sleeve tee-shirt, light trousers of a dark blue, and sturdy climbing shoes, Lara had a helmet hanging from her belt, and a water bottle in one hand, as she arrived, brushing her tied-back hair out of her face, the bangs still loosely flowing around her eyes that were hidden behind sunglasses.

She greets a few of the others on the team, her British flavored voice standing out amongst so many Americans.
Julian Keller Rubbing at his face, Julian certainly looks agitated at the delay. Fundamentally he knows that safety is first. That they won't endanger the lives of those that are here. But still, he is not a generally patient man. And considering that he doesn't really need to climb to make that ascent makes the situation all the more annoying for him. "Fine. We wait." Julian says turning and scuffing his feet into the dirt and rock path as he goes and finds himself a place to lean against a rock.

"Take up climbing they said. Stress free. Just you against the rock." Julian's gaze lifts upwards, the first light of sun slowly brightening the dull morning. The thin layer of clouds in the area easily being seen now. He lowers his gaze just as Lara passes. "You look like you climb alot. This shit happen alot?"
Lara Croft Lara spends a few moments talking to the leader of the expedition for this climb, perhaps she's checking in to this delay as well. It's a cold day, but she's not terribly effected by the cold, as it isn't even under freezing, in fact it's unseasonably warm in the mid 40s. Just lovely, in her book!

Lara does end up just to the right of Julian, as she sat down her pack, and was rifling through it when she heard the question from the man. It caused her to pause, it caused her brown eyes to look over at him, after having pushed her sunglasses up on to her hairline. She glanced back over her shoulder, smirked, and looked back to him. "I've never been here before." The British woman says, her accent tagging her as someone from the London area, most likely. "I would say it is probably common though, as they want to make sure everyone will be safe and ready for the climb." She adds further, before showing Julian a small smirk. "Eager to get going?" She has to ask him as her hands go back to digging around in her pack.
Julian Keller "Yeah," Julian says with a nod of his head. "I'm not a fan of waiting around." He pushes away from the rock. His hand coming out to offer it to the woman. There is a moment were the hand doesn't quite open properly and when it does his fingers splay before returning to normal.

The group leader suddenly calls everyone to head up the trail. "So, what brings you all the way out here?"
Lara Croft When he pushes off the rock, and steps over toward her, Lara pauses her searching of her pack, to note his offered hand. She only barely registers any oddities with his hand, before she adjusts her glasses on her brow, then accepts the hand in her own right hand. She shakes his softly with a light grip, and offers him a friendly smile. "I am sure it won't be long." She tells him, just a second before the team leader makes that call.

A glance is sent back over her right shoulder, "See? Told you." She states, now smirking toward him as she raises her pack up to sling it over one shoulder, and retrieves her bottle of water from the makeshift table she'd chosen. "Oh, I uh... grew up doing this kind of thing, I suppose you could say. My father was an adventurer, my mentor a survivalist. Between the two of them, I think I've learned a... fair amount." She says as she steps toward the team heading down the trail. "As for here specifically, it was recommended to me by a co-worker. I live in Manhattan, and suppose I needed a trip to clear my head."
Julian Keller "You were right." Julian says with a nod of his head. He tucks his hands behind his back as they make the short 15 minute walk along the trail to the starting path. "Ah. I grew up in California among surf and sand then to east coast for school. So not a lot of chance to climb." The safety briefings commence once they get there and 15 minutes later the lead climber is heading up. Finally it's Julian's turn and tipping his head towards Lara. "Well, wish me luck."

He's not a natural climber. He's got the strength, but those hands. More then once there is a delay in what they are supposed to do, but so far hasn't cost him. Up and up they go.
Lara Croft "California is a beautiful state." Lara had said back, a smile gracing her visage as they meandered down the pathway. When they arrived, Lara spent the first half of the leader's presentation simply listening while standing at the back of the relatively small group, but about half way through it the team leader called her up to ask if she'd assist him with getting everyone checked out and ready to go. Why? Well apparently he trusts her to be as thorough as he was, or he was flirting with her, one of the two, if not both.

Lara complied though, and was helping everyone with last minute gear checks, and explanations. Truth is, she does this at the Triskelion almost every day she's on-site and available. She helps SHIELD agents use the rock wall in the gym, which is a tier based climbing wall, with one to three story tall climbs, and varying difficulties able to be keyed in to the wall on the fly.

Once they're ready, though, Lara gets her chalk bag on to her belt, her helmet on her head, and is not too far away from Julian when everyone is setting up the face of the climb meant for roped climbers. "You can do it." She tells Julian with a little grin, her helmet on, her glasses over her eyes, as she sets off up the free solo portion of the rockface, that runs alongside the roped section.

Within moments, Julian will get to see the British gal scaling with no harness or rope, clips or any assistance beyond her shoes and that bag of chalk on her hip.
