Bunny Macleod     It was a beautiful, clear day in New York State, a little ways from New York City proper. It was inordinarily warm for a February day, the skies were clear and this was well out of the flight path of any airports. A nice bit of fly-over country.

Which, incidentally, makes it a perfect place for a flying lesson.

Which was good, because Bunny had woken up on the ceiling more than once in the last two weeks and awkwardly tried to make her way back down.
Mark Grayson Earlier that morning...

"Mark?"
"Mrf?"
"Maaaaark."
"What is it, babe?"

Opening his eyes, he looked up and -- oh. "Let me guess, you didn't want to be up there?" Mark asked as he struggled awake before helping Bunny down. Once cleaned up and changed, they had made plans. Today will be the day that Bunny gets her flight under control.

Hopefully.

As they head towards the field, it would be a nice day for a picnic for the couple. And it is only a week til Valentine's Day. Could totally be a romantic stroll.

Floating off the ground slightly once they're alone, Mark turns to Bunny as he floats in front of her. "Alright. So, what's going on?" he asks her. "Are you having a dream of flying, or just... thinking of it?"
Bunny Macleod     "I don't even *know*!" Bunny protests, still standing on the ground as she sets a backpack down. She's sans roller-skates today, and she bounces a little on her sneakers in the barely-green grass.

"How do you do it? Do you just think 'fly' and you go up? Or is it like an automatic response?" Bunny asks, and heaves a sigh.

"I don't even have dreams about flying anymore now that I can *actually* do it. Just the dream where I go on stage and I've forgotten to put on pants again."
Mark Grayson "I mean, you do have cute panties." Mark starts to say and then clears his throat. Focus.

"Okay, we're going to do it the way I learned it." Which is what his father told him to do, a small frown creasing his features. "Let's take off the backpack, and I want you to just think about walking, being on the ground, not wanting to rise up in the air." he explains.

To demonstrate, he just drops back to the ground, taking a few steps backwards to show her what he means. "Come on, Bun, walk with me." His hands offered to her.
Bunny Macleod     "Yeah and I'd get mad tips from thirsty lesbians in the audience, but /bruh/ not worth the cold feet." Bunny replies, leaving her backpack there, and she rubs the back of her neck a moment before she reaches out to grab onto Mark's hand, and holds on.

"What if I never get the hang of it?" she questions quietly, "My skatetrick days are *over*. I'd go up a ramp and never come down!"
Mark Grayson "I've noticed the quality of them's gone up since Sunny's joined us." Mark is totally teasing her with that remark as he slides his hands into hers. "Okay, first, you will. Everyone that has had flight has had to learn to control it at some point. You're only working it from reverse. You're starting in the air, and need to stay on the ground. Which is why we're not flying yet."

"If you feel yourself starting to rise, squeeze my hands. We need to figure out what's triggering the response." he admits. "Like, I don't have to think about being grounded. I'm just on the ground. But just a thought about flying..." And he rises off the ground slightly, considering Bunny before he sets back alight on the ground.
Bunny Macleod     "ohmigawdmark." comes out of Bunny's mouth as the short-pink-haired girl gives a roll of her eyes, but she gives his hand a squeeze slightly as she walks with him. "Too bad it's not as easy as 'think happy thoughts'." she mumbles, looking down to the grass as she's walking on it, keeping her mind on staying on the ground and not flying all over the place like crazy.

"I just... I'm scared. If I drop outta the sky, how do I save myself? What if it's only temporary?" she questions quietly. "There's a lot of unknowns, Mark."
Mark Grayson "There is." Mark agrees. "Which is why I'm concentrating on keeping you on the ground for now. Alura didn't have an idea on how long this may last. Or if it's a mutation of what was in that DNA caused by your own DNA. For all we know, you could have other powers not tapped yet. You said a bit back that you're finding it easier to carry heavy things.

He comes to a halt and squeezes her hands. "The best we can do right now is to try to brace you and help you learn how to control what you have now." A deep breath. "With that, I want you to stop thinking about the ground. Just... think about anything else." He wants to see if she just starts floating naturally.
Bunny Macleod     "Yeah, but not like, super heavy things. I'm not about to sling space rocks out of the atmosphere or anything." Bunny gives a small smile. "And I'm not fast like you and Sunny are."

And Bunny brings her hands both to Mark's hands, holding on.

Thinking about playing the piano, practicing scales. Thinking about being in front of a crowd of people. The boot rising up over her face. Not being fast enough. Not being skilled enough. Her hands squeeze a little tighter.

Bunny doesn't seem to register it, but she'd begun floating up slightly as the emotions got higher, and she had given a HARD tug backwards and away from Mark as her brows knit.
Mark Grayson As Mark listens to Bunny, he's watching her. Of course, he can't hear her thoughts, but he does see the physical cues. As she squeezes, he can actually feel the pressure from her hands - she has gotten stronger. And then suddenly, she's shoving off and Mark has to keep pace. "Whoa whoa!" he calls out to her, his expression concerned.

He tries to get back close to her, his eyes studying her body and expression, hands releasing as he considers. "What just happened?" he asks, not moving to grab her, confusion washed over and pushed away as he tries to find focus.
Bunny Macleod     "I... I..." Bunny gulps air, she closes her eyes, scrunching up her face before she brings her palm to one eye and rubs at it.

"It's nightmares. I keep on having nightmares about Omni-Man." she whispers out. "Just interspersed with other things. I could be dreming about performing, and then I turn and there's the bottom of his boot, about to come down. If I had been faster, stronger, more ruthless, maybe I could have stopped him. I could have stopped it there, when I still had those pills in my body."
Mark Grayson She's having nightmares about Omni-Man.

His father.

The same father that talked him through flying like he was just doing now.

"Bunny, I..." Mark starts to say, his face faltering. He doesn't have a good answer in the moment. He can only be there for her. "You saved us that day. Sunny and I both." he responds finally.

"...I'm sorry." he finally manages. His hands squeeze together at his sides. He brought him into her life. He's gone. Omni-Man is well outside the solar system now. But he could come back. Then what? "I was not going to let those pills kill you... you mean more to me than..."

His arms open, he wants to grab her in a hug and not let go.
Bunny Macleod     Mark holds his arms open.

Bunny hits him with a full-bodied combat tackle of a hug. She's not as invulnerable -- she's not invulnerable at all. Her strength was increased, but not to his strength. She could fly, but clumsily, and she topped out at a couple hundred miles per hour. But one hundred thirty pounds hitting someone at two hundred miles an hour can be a lot of force.

Along with when they wrap their arms and legs around you, because the arms just aren't enough. And she squeezes.

"You didn't do it. Your voice was the last thing I heard before I passed out. You saved me. And then you saved everyone."
Mark Grayson When Bunny koalas into him, Mark wraps his arms tightly around her, holding her tightly to him, even if he gets slammed into the ground in the process. He can take that much, easily. But he does keep it from happening, simply because he doesn't want her to get hurt.

She has an opinion, a strong one. It's one he largely disagrees with. "You're the one that did all the right things, I just held out until your plan worked. We helped save each other." he responds to her, pressing his forehead to hers firmly.

"We're going to get this figured out. We're going to fly - and walk together. Because you have way too many roller skates to suddenly not use them." If there was only some... and then his expression changes. "Monster Girl!" he says suddenly, out of the blue.
Bunny Macleod     Bunny squeezes onto Mark.

It's a touching moment. She feels his forehead press to hers, their noses nearly touching. She huffs a breath and added 'it was a stupid plan' and "I can sell some roller skates and --"

Then Mark exclaims, his exxpression changing and her teary eyes opening up as she gives a sniffle.

"Monster girl?" ... "Does... she need roller skates?"
Mark Grayson "No no. Amanda... Monster Girl!" Mark pulls back a little, but isn't letting go. "Okay, okay. Explanation. Remember back in Baltimore, I told you I was part of a team when I was younger?" he asks. "One of their members was Monster Girl. She was like this... twenty-five year old and was apparently gorgeous. Anyway! She was on this trip in Eastern Europe and she met this boy. They started dating, and his grandma warned her away from him. She didn't listen."

Because horny teenagers, right?

"Anway, grandma caught them and apparently she was a witch. She put a curse on Amanda and on her way back home, she turned into a giant troll. Like, a male troll. Eight foot tall, super ugly, super strong." He pauses there to let Bunny take that much in.
Bunny Macleod     Good news, Bunny is no longer crying. Bad news is she is SO TOTALLY CONFUSED. She tilts her head a moment, and she nods her head "Okay, yeah, that tracks for curses from what I know... are... you saying I should get cursed...?" she questions "Or does she need magic expanding roller skates?"
Mark Grayson "No no," Mark laughs and shakes his head firmly. "So, the worst part of the curse was that when she changed back to human, she was ''younger''." he explains. "She wanted to use her powers to help people. Even assisted in turning back Loki's invasion. But after all that use of her powers -- she had been deaged to around twelve. Maybe younger."

"So, you can imagine the issues there." he explains. "Eventually, she needed help - and another team mate of us was Rudy... Robot. He's a super-genius, right? He made this belt for her that stopped the de-aging process. She's back to around seventeen, last time I saw her. I bet he could make a belt that could keep you grounded until we figure out what works or get your flight under control."
Bunny Macleod     "That is a whole lotta personal info to explain 'I have a super genius friend who might help'..." Bunny gives a small grin, bonking her forehead back against Mark's as she takes a deep breath.

"Okay! Okay, we should go visit Amanda and Rudy, I wouldn't mind meeting some lower-power heroes and hanging out with your old crowd." Bunny states.
Mark Grayson "Well, I mean, I could have led with that, but then you'd have wanted the details and I'd have had told the story anyway. One one of them would have." Maybe. Amanda might get a little pissed at Mark for sharing as much as he did. But it was for the greater good.

"Great, we'll get Sunny and make a day trip of it. The three of us, some visitations, and we'll get some Old Bay lobster rolls while we're there."

He accepts the bonk to his forehead and kisses her before she can withdraw. "Until then, you only go out when Sunny or I are with you, in case things get out of hand."
Bunny Macleod     "Nooooooooo constant supervision whhhhhhhyyyyyyy I'm /nineteeeeeen/ --" Bunny protests, and she just flops to her back in the grass, at Mark's side.

"Fiiiiiiiine but you're both going to look silly totting me around like a balloon if I get SAD about something." she states to Mark, and she looks up at the sky.

"So, who else are we gonna meet if we head to your old digs? Should I be prepared to get a beatdown for sealing you?"
Mark Grayson "Pfft. We just need to keep you from being sad or scared? I'll invest in some feathers." Mark teases as he reaches to slip his hand into Bunny's, twining their fingers together. "Finnnne. Not maybe constant supervision. I mean, I still have to find your Valentine's Day gift."

But then the conversation drifts to his home. A shake of his head. "Naw. I only had two girlfriends before you, Bunny. Amber and I were a high school thing. She's normal, didn't like it when she found out I was... you know. Tried to make it work, but she got tired of me bailing on her all the time." A shrug of his shoulders.

"Eve and I dated a little when we were both in Happy Harbor. She decided to head to Africa after graduation and by the time came back from my stuff, she and Miles were dating. So. You and Sunny have me all to yourselves."
Bunny Macleod     "Oh good. So the only people I have to fight for realsies might be Atom Eve. /That's/ not intimidating at all." Bunny rolls her eyes s she laces her fingers with Mark's. "Nixing the feathers. Those have meaning at Rain Beau Brite's. And that crowd is WEIRD." she whispers quietly, and she gives a smile, leaning her head against Mark's shoulder.

"I already have the best gifts I can ask for. Hot. Alien. Boyfriend and Girlfriend."
Mark Grayson "She's still away, I think. So you might be safe." Mark chuckles lightly, turning his head to kiss Bunny's cheek. "And she's not like that anyway." A shrug of his shoulders in thought.

"Oh, then I guess I won't give you what I got you...~" he offers in a teasing lit. But something has expression turning curious. "I'm scared to ask, but also morbidly curious."

"Tell me about the feathers."
Bunny Macleod     Bunny purses her lips and looks up at the sky.

"No, I don't think I will." she states to Mark about explaining the feathers.
Mark Grayson "Oho, is that so?" Mark asks, as he turns to Bunny. And his hands go to her sides. "We have ways..." he drawls with a terribly bad accent of German. "....of making you talk!"

And with that, he starts to tickle her... which will probably lead to kissing. Which will probably lead to other things...

...and a good spot to fade the log on this scene.
