Phoebe Beacon     What does 'Forever' actually mean? When you think on a timeline of hours, when you're crossing hot coals, when you're staring into the cosmos, 'forever' can change from heartbeats to the rise and death of stars. Or to a tea party with Supergirl in attendence while trying to maneuver Robbie away from Talia al Ghul.

But after the party, Phoebe had offered one of the downstairs powder rooms for Robbie to change into 'less restrictive clothing, although he looked completely baller and he should definitely wear that more often'.

She herself has changed out of the dress and into a more casual skirt and leggings, zipping up her own leather jacket as she comes down the stairs of the Grand Hallway, past the family portrait wall with one including herself with her dog Idu looking quite regal.

She pauses at the bottom of the stairs to slip on a pair of sneakers.
Robbie Reyes Perhaps surprisingly, Robbie did not actually change out of his suit, choosing instead to remain in it for the time being. He watches as Phoebe approaches and offers a warm smile. "I survived," he says proudly, the smile shifting into a grin. "And other than a few ... near mishaps, I would say..." He laughs. "It was a lot easier than I thought it would be."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe looks surprised, and feels rather underdressed now as Robbie remains in that dark suit with the crimson pinstripe, looking pleased as the Devil Himself. Phoebe's met him once.

You did survive. You did great." she grins, coming up to her toes to kiss Robbie's cheek.

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting some of them to show, but everything was good. My family likes you. *Bruce* approves." Phoebe comments gently, reachong for Robbie's hand. "The build up to the event's usually the worst. Once you're in it? It's not so bad. Unless someone comes in to pick on you."
Robbie Reyes     Leaning down to accept the kiss to his cheek, Robbie smiles. "I had a great coach that helped me know what to do."

He takes her hand and gives it a squeeze, waiting for her to lead him off. "I do not think that Bruce approved of me, so much as "the guy who makes Phoebe happy", but since that happens to be me, I'll take it."

He takes a deep breath. "That other one, though...my other side /really/ wanted to meet her."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe straightens a moment and she wraps her arm with his.

"Yeah. I know he wanted to meet Talia." Phoebe states quietly, leading him towards the door to the driveway and the classic cars in Bruce's collection visible through some windows.

"She's... like... kind of... my guardian-appointed teacher for some stuff. She's... done some stuff in her past that she hasn't... quite... wanted to make up for. And that is going to be a story for a different day. And *everyone* approved of you. You looked good, you treat me well, and you let me eat sugary snacks in your car." Phoebe gives a grin, nose-wrinkling grin at the last.
Robbie Reyes     Robbie continues to frown, despite the explanation. "This side of me wonders why they would have anyone that my other side has /that/ kind of reaction to around, I have to admit." He is only briefly distracted by the cars, although it was a valiant effort on Phoebe's part.

"If she continues to be around, we will likely have a problem eventually, and I am not sure just how much grace I will get from them 'approving' of me if my other side decides to have a chat with one of their loved ones."
Phoebe Beacon     "... I... can't tell you who she is. But you have to trust me that I'll make sure next time you visit, she's not around. I'm *pretty* confident I can hold your other side back, but it'll suck for both of us." Phoebe comments dryly.

"... especially if you meant 'forever'." she states quietly, and she turns up to look at Robbie. "'Cause that can be an awful long time for either one of us."
Robbie Reyes     There is a bit of a sniff from Robbie, but he nods. He does not press the point. "I'd rather nothing suck for either of us, and espcially not both of us." But if Phoebe needs to keep a secret from him, he is confident it is with good reason.

Turning to look at Phoebe, Robbie considers his next words carefully. "Does the idea of that bother you?"
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe is quiet a moment, looking out over the long, winding driveway that leads back towards the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Bristol Township with its golf courses and old and new money homes, and beyond it the city she's called 'Home' for almost all her life.

"No." she replies quietly, her hand giving a squeeze to Robbie's. "I don't think it does. I've just... had people tell me forever before." She tilts her head up to give the taller Robbie a side-long look.

"But I know you don't joke about family and who you let into your life, so I'll just have to take you very seriously when you say that."
Robbie Reyes     Watching Phoebe gaze outward, Robbie is patient as she turns over the topic in her mind. He realizes that she has had issues in the past, and he is not going to cure them with words, Or even deeds. But a long series of deeds, perhaps.

"I don't think any of them had quite the ability to enforce forever the way I can, Phoebe." He chuckles for a moment. "It will take a lot to get rid of me,"

He nods. "I don't say things I don't mean, munequita. You know that." He reaches over to place his hand on her shoulder. "It might be a long time, but it would pass quickly if you were there with me."
Phoebe Beacon     Robbie's already got a head start. She brought him home to meet The Fam. And almost universally they like him.

"Mmm. If I wanted to get rid of you, then you can't cook for me anymore. And who else makes me vegetarian enchiladas with home-made mole? No one!" Phoebe protests, leaning ehr head against his hand, raising her shoulder up to trap it there.

"It always feels like our times are too short, doesn't it? Always one last joke, farewell, kiss..." she gives that bright grin of hers again. "Forever is a long time. It's not so bad if you're there with me, especially if you dress up." she jokes, reaching up to brush off Robbie's shoulder.

"You do look *really* good. I don't often feel underdressed, but damn."
Robbie Reyes     "Well, I'll remember that. No cooking if i want to get rid of you." Robbie flashes a grin, and wriggles the fingers of his tragged hand. "Any other tips to avoid?" His face crinkles with the smile.

He gives a bit of a shrug. "Our times are what we make of them, Phoebe. I seem to recall that a drive to pick up cake was one of the best times we've had." His grin broadens for a long moment. "And I just don't see a reason to change things, so if it's forever, it's forever." He shrugs. "How am I ever going to possibly be happier?"

He winks at her with the compliment. "All Alfred's handiwork. I have to find him and thank him, speaking of."
Phoebe Beacon     "Yep. No cooking, no masa, no experimental sweet potato tamales that would make your abuela cry, *definitely* no cookies." Obviously, the couple do cook a lot for each other. "And that means I stop cooking for you." she states, and looks serious "But I'll continue making cookies for Gabe I guess." she gives a smile up at him, her cheeks slightly darker, her ears getting a touch more color as she looks up to that broad grin.

"You know, I never sleep so good as when you're driving? I don't even feel as safe in the house as I do in your car." she states. "And I'm *pretty sure* it wasn't JUST the cheesecake that made it a good time." her ears turn darker then, her cheeks flushing a little as her nose scrunches, her eyes closing "But ah... we probably shouldn't expound on that one in the open. That *was* totally the best cheesecake though afterwards."
Robbie Reyes     When she speaks of not cooking for HIM, Robbie gasps! But then she clarifies that she will continue cooking for Gabe, and he grins. "Well, then I'll just have to steal them from him. I'm sure you'll make too many like always."

As she continues, he nods, leaning his hand against her. "I am glad that I can bring you peace," he says earnestly, a reassuring smile on his face. "Although bringing you /cake/ can be more fun sometimes." He grins at her, but also seems content to let /that/ reference go, given where they are.
Phoebe Beacon     "I think we can both agree that /I/ am the one who brings the cake, Robbie." Phoebe laughs, but she doesn't expound. Inevitably it will start in on a conversation about Nightwing's ass. The universal Best Butt. The Nighttush. It's a weird constant.

"Also I never make 'too many cookies' for Gabe, and he *will* run you over for them. You told me so. Nyeeh." she sticks her tongue out, and then, she takes a deep breath, and in full view of the house (and all its cameras, and probably Cass on the roof somewhere, she wraps her arms around Robbie's middle.

"Thank you for doing this for me." she sttes, hugging herself to his chest and taking a deep breath, and releasing a happy sigh.
Robbie Reyes     "Can't we both bring the cake?" protets Robbie, as he twists a bit to glance at his own ass. Perhaps he is well familiar with the Gotham butt rankings, and although he is not technically in Gotham, he considers himself fairly highly ranking in that regard. At least when he is in his jeans, but not so much in this particular suit.

He is forced to not in agreement. There is no quantity of cookie for Gabe that would go unappreciated, or unaccepted. Or uneaten. "Yeah. Can't catch him." He laughs. "Gotta stay away from my man's treads."

He seems content as she reaches around him, and he does the same, wrapping his arms around her waist as he pulls her gently closer. "I would do anything that I could for you, Phoebe. Whatever I can to make you happy." He leans down to brush his lips against her forehead. "Ok?"
Phoebe Beacon     Thump. Phoebe's forehead accepts the kiss, and then thumps against Robbie's chest.

Phoebe also thinks Robbie has a fantastic ass. But his ass looks grand in this suit. And she's trying not to get teary-eyed.

"Okay. And the same goes for you. Anything in my power." she whispers.

And she takes a shakey breath.

"Speaking of happy -- let's get outta here before they start trying to talk you into a Wayne Enterprises position. Being around the C-Suites would *definitely* make your other half hangry, I think." she breathes out.
Robbie Reyes     "I know, chica," replies Robbie, giving her a long squeeze. "It is good to have someone at my back, same as you, right?" He smiles down at her, and then sighs contentedly as he rocks a bit with her for a moment.

Then he laughs, shaking his head. "I don't think they're going to want me to do anything other than what I already am, Phoebe." He leans down to rest his forehead against hers. "And I do that really, really well." He leans his lips over to give her a brief kiss.
Phoebe Beacon     "I'm your Ride or Die. Which is why I'm shotgun." Phoeb gives a bright smile up at Robbie as he speaks, forehead to forehead, nose tip to nose tip before they share a brief kiss.

"You never know. Bruce *hates* business meetings." she replies against his smile, held in his arms, safe and content, because really, what in Bristol Township is more dangerous than Robbie Reyes? ... other than Bruce Wayne?
