Clark Kent Anyone not living beneath a rock has probably heard the news: Superman lives. But there are some who already knew that. One of those individuals is Kal's next stop on the tour de force around each of the hero groups, on recommendation from Diana Prince herself. The Last Son descends into the grand front yard of the Avengers mansion and makes his way casually towards the front door in the early afternoon on a beautiful, warm, Saturday.

Those New Yorkers who spot him shout out his name, ''Superman!'' and, as he oft does, he turns to wave greetings. Though the nature of his visit stops him from going over to shake hands at present. He certainly isn't above it. Truth is, Kal likes people.

And he's probably not surprising anyone inside the mansion when reaching out to ring the bell beside the front doors. Arms across the S-Shield on his chest... knowing at least ''someone'' is home. He can basically see them. Though he'd hardly be so rude as to x-ray through their walls... and there's got to be some kind of defense in place against that right?
Steve Rogers The mansion does have its defenses and very quickly, its AI identifies the visitor having arrived at the front step. Steve looks up from writing in a ledger at his manor-office desk as JARVIS chimes in:

<<You have a guest, Captain Rogers. Superman is awaiting at the front of the mansion. Shall I let him in?>>

"Yes, please, JARVIS, 'nd let him know that I'll be down shortly," Steve replies as he closes his ledger and tucks it away into a locked drawer at the desk. He's in a black t-shirt with WASP emblazoned across it in bold golden lettering and jeans, long-loved combat boots on his feet.

<<I shall, Captain.>>

At the front door, Clark will hear the AI speak: <<Welcome, Superman. Please step inside, Captain Rogers will be with you shortly.>> Kal will hear the front door unlock, no doubt. He'll also find the place suddenly a bit more difficult to x-ray as some counter-interference comes to life. The Avengers do prefer their privacy, after all.

Steve is quick to appear at the door regardless and smile, offering a hand to Clark. "Good to see you as always," he says by way of greeting.
Clark Kent At the counter-measures, Kal on grins. He expected nothing short or less, stepping inside with a fractional nod to the AI speaking to him, no stranger to such processors from his own fortress... he's still impressed by it. How couldn't he be? This isn't some ancient civilization from a thousand light years shown, but a single mans creation. Turning to regard the interior, stepping a few backwards as he awaits the Captain. "Thank you, Jarvis."

Smiling all the more when Steve arrives, he steps over with his hand already extending out, "Captain Rogers. Sorry for my unnanounced visit. I try not to over extend my welcome by dropping in without sending word first, but I was already in the neighborhood meeting with Diana." Shoulders back, cape adjusting around his ankles as he comes to a halt.

"I hope I haven't caught you at a bad time?"
Steve Rogers "Not at all," Steve reassures the man as he shakes hands, his own grip firm and not overly so, well-practiced over the years. "Just looking over some reports 'nd taking notes, nothing that can't wait another few hours if need be. I'm due to speak with Diana myself. I hope she's well?" the Captain asks even as he turns, hand extended as he leads the way to one of the side sitting rooms, the better for them to speak in contained quiet rather than out in the echoing main entryway itself.

Once inside, he doesn't shut the door. Anyone present in the mansion has any right to enter unless explicitly stated otherwise by the Captain. Instead, he pauses by one of the plush sitting chairs, resting a hand on its back. "You want coffee or anything?"
Clark Kent "She is." Kal says of Diana, following Steve towards the sitting room at an even pace. Likewise measured and practiced, over thirty plus years, to move more casually rather than flashing around like a snap of light. Waiting a moment before taking a seat, sweeping his cape out of the way. It really does make the simplest of tasks a little more complicated.

"I'd love some coffee. I was just at Titan Towers a few days ago and had a blend from one of the older members, Raven? Apparently her taste in beans is stellar. Perhaps I'll bring some by after my next visit." Offered honestly, if politely, as he awaits Steve to sit before launching into the more business end of the visit. Pleasantries are just as well, certainly Kal has no problem with catching up.

"Diana did say she was going to Paris for a few days, and was going to come speak with you herself when she returned. I could have waited, let her do so, but.. I'm on a roll recently. I'm sure you understand it... get things done while they're fresh on your mind?"
Steve Rogers "Coffee it is -- 'nd you're welcome to bring over a bag next you visit if you'd like. We're big on coffee around here, can never have enough, it seems like. Another bag'll be welcome, 'nd if it's quality? We'll figure out a way to get more of it." Steve nods and then glances up at the ceiling, still standing at his chair. "JARVIS, would you mind sending in one of the 'bots with the fixings for coffee?"

<<Of course, Captain Rogers. It will be arriving shortly.>>

"Thank you," the Captain is sure to add, and he then seats himself as well. His true-blues affix on Clark and he listens, nodding understanding. "I do get it. Diana's aware that you're here speaking to me about it?"
Clark Kent "It was pretty good." Kal assures of the coffee, "But I'm not nearly the connoisseur as some of my fellows." A good natured smile resting on his angled jaw, settling back into the chair with one leg coming up to cross the other at the ankle. Arms resting upon the rests, casual.

As if he'd never left at all.

Slipping back into the habitual nature that is Superman as easily as a glove. Some things never grow difficult..

"She is, actually she's who suggested I should come to you in the first place. Not that it's any great secret, mind. She just has better report with the Avengers, having worked with you all for the past three years." Clearing his throat into his curled fist, "But no reason we can't lay the foundations. What I've come suggesting is of benefit to the entire planet.. At least in my ernest opinion."
Steve Rogers Steve's brows lift in obvious interest. He leaves his booted feet on the ground in a semblence of quiet readiness, his hands rested nonchalantly at his belt buckle with fingers interlaced. After all, who knows what JARVIS might chime in with next.

"She's been our contact for a good number of years, yes. Looking forward to hearing what she has to say as well when she gets back from her trip. What's this suggestion of yours then?"

The coffee is apparently still brewing, leaving time for the men to discuss the reasoning for this visit.
Clark Kent Kal takes a breath, not so much out of nervousness, as to let the idea formulate fully in his mind before beginning, "One thing I learned from Doomsday, is that while the teams of Earth are a powerful force to protect the planet from threats.. The Avengers soon thereafter against Loki in his attack on New York." Motioning around with an up turned hand, including the sitting room and mansion. "The Titans, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four.. All of these individuals groups have their own problems to deal with, but when presented with a global threat like the invasion of some warlord from across the stars.. Well, frankly, our isolated cohesion proves more of a detriment than a boon."

That same hand comes up to gently pat at the air, "Not that there's anything wrong with diversity, I think it's important. Different viewpoints, methods, all of it benefits the security of our shared world... but what if.." He furrows his brow slightly, thoughtfully, "What if those same groups, seperate though they are, worked with a cohesion against threats bigger than any one of them? A genuine threat response to world shattering enemies come to Earth? A coalition, of sorts."
Steve Rogers Steve listens, and as he does so, his brows draw together in the slight manner of intensively formulating what he hears. Shifting in his chair, he clearly isn't a fan of being reminded of the debacle that was dealing with Loki those years ago -- this Loki now apparently freed of his branded fetters and fully able to engage in whatever magic he so chooses once more.

He nods understanding again, true-blues resting on Clark. "'s'been an idea in the wind for some years now, more uncertain with the Justice League temporarily disbanded. You thinking you want to make it formal now? Is the League getting back together? This'll be the first 've heard of it if so," he shares, lifting a hand off his belt buckle briefly.
Clark Kent "If you believe Batman, it was never disbanded at all." Kal says with as good natured a smirk as one can when discussing the mythic man who lords over Gotham City, but there's still a friendly tone when speaking of him. Some friends are held at arms length, some hold themselves there. Bruce is more the latter. "But yes, I'm putting genuine thought to reassembling the Justice League. At first I thought, perhaps, the Avengers could fill the void we left all those years ago.. and I still do, to a degree."

Not taking anything from the younger group.

"What you've all done has been outstanding and I wouldn't want to temper that or stand in the way.. which is why there was ever any thought at all of letting the monuments stand as memories rather than a symbol of rebirth.. But I think, I know, that there are threats that require the Justice League. Someone like Zod returned or..." There's a laundry list of names, that he'd rather not even begin to list off.

"Suffice that if the Justice League returns, I want it to be beside the Avengers... beside the Titans and X-Men. And the Fantastic Four. All groups standing in unison against whatever the cosmos might throw our way. In that way, no threat will ever be too big."
Steve Rogers The coffee arrives as Clark is done speaking via a robot whirring in on surprisingly silent, well-balanced wheels and bearings. Of course it's a fine piece of machinery: it is of Stark make, after all. It wheels over to offer Superman first dibs at making himself a cup. On a tray rested atop its pseudo-arms is a hot carafe of coffee along with sugar both brown and white, milk, and flavored creamer.

"Don't find any disagreement with your proposition thus far," says the Captain, his voice even and calm. "Every once 'nd a while, somebody gets too big for their britches 'nd needs to be dealt with. Sometimes, it takes more'n a big stick. Takes a bigger stick," he says, droll in his somber amusement in matters. "If we're ever gonna deal with something big enough to take on all of us, it'll...well, it'll require all of us."
Clark Kent The arrival of the droid draws Kal's attention and amusement. The sheer bredge of Tony's ingenuity is a constant source of amazement from the small town raised Clark, even if he is from a different world and lives in the City of Tomorrow. What Stark is able to accomplish? It's beyond anything he'd have ever seen in Smallville, for sure.

Reaching out to begin scooping sugar into an empty cup, a total of eight of them, onto that is a half cup of milk and finally coffee.

Unbashful in the manner in which he takes his beverage, he slides it onto his knee after gently sturring the contents together and taking a sip. "Precisely that. I know that there are individuals among each group who might view it as... I don't know, a weakness? Perhaps that's the incorrect word.. Just that everyone feels they're strong enough to handle any threat, but I've.. We've seen threats we cannot face alone." Not even Superman.

He's not above all that either.

"I never want the fate of the world to rest on any one persons shoulders. And I knew that you'd agree. There's too much at stake. Our world, our loved ones. Every man, woman, and child of this planet looks to us to protect them. How can we agree to be their guardians and not welcome aid." It seems self explanatory. "Hah.. I must sound like such a self righteous blow hard.. I don't use those terms lightly, I assure you. In my head I'm still just a guy doing the best he can to do right by everyone."
Steve Rogers Once the robot is certain the guest has finished fussing with his coffee, it turns in place and smoothly comes over to allow access for Steve. The Captain works at fixing his own cup of coffee and it's fairly simple: black, straight, not used to any sweetening since long back in the war and even before this, when he was without serum.

"Thank you," he murmurs to the robot and it shifts off to one side, ready to deliver any further warmers when necessitated.

After sipping his coffee and finding it satisfactory, Steve sets the mug off to one side. "I follow. We're of a like mind," he shares with Superman. "I plan to speak with the team about it 'nd make sure no one's got hesitations or reservations. I doubt anybody will, but I try not to spring things on 'em."
Clark Kent "In that we agree as well. Which is why I brought it to you, rather than attempting to speak with Tony or some of the other Avengers.. I don't want it to come off that Superman is trying to manipulate how Avengers conduct themselves, since that couldn't be further from the truth of it." Kal says with an easy smile that shows only a slight curl of hesitation.

He's been gone a long time.

And while that certainly hasn't cooled public opinion, it might not be as welcomed by the heroes who had to take his place.

"I couldn't help but notice your t-shirt." Holding out his mug to motion to the Wasp shirt Steve is wearing, a great deal more spirited grin forming upon his face. "Not that I hadn't seen the merchandise circulating around New York and Metropolis.. it's actually quite brilliant. There's action figures too, I understand?"
Steve Rogers Steve smiles knowingly. "You would've been fine discussing this with Tony as well. We've been speaking of co-leading the Avengers as things stand, but that's an unofficial stance until we formally release it." He clearly trusts Superman to remain mum about the news.

"The t-shirt's part of some mechandise, yes. Been working to finagle more of the proceeds to go directly to some of the charities we annually support. Paperwork's in the process of being verified 'nd formalized. 'sides, Janet's my gal. Not much of a decision about whether or not to wear it in her name." His smile grows a touch before he reaches to sip his coffee.
Clark Kent "That makes sense." Duel leadership of the Avengers, "He's a smart man, with your tactical accumen and his brilliance, I can't imagine a better pair to lead a group." He's not even blowing smoke, that's just not Superman's style. He's honest and straight forward, "Perhaps, if he seems amiable, I can come and speak to him about it with you? I've not had nearly the chance to speak with Mr. Stark that I might like." Given whom he's running against in the Presidency, there's probably a number of reasons why that is.

The explanation of the shirt does having the Kryptonian smiling wider, "I believe I'd heard that... or read it somewhere anyways. Tabloids being what they are, though, you never can tell what's true or not." Sipping a bit more of his coffee, "If my gal had a shirt, I'd likely wear it as well. Goodness knows she'd get a kick out of that."
Steve Rogers "Bet she would. Could look into your own merchandising line if it seems appropriate," the Captain suggests, briefly glancing outside towards the hallway as if hearing some distant sound. It's just the manor itself creaking, nothing worrisome.

"'nd nothing's stopping you from speaking with Tony. If you want me present, not a problem either. Don't mind being another mind in the brainstorming, if any needs to happen. He should be around sooner 'n later -- or you're welcome to reach out to him at Stark Tower if he's not out of town. Miss Potts'll get you scheduled in, one way or another." Steve smiles faintly. The red-headed woman is no one to be trifled with, she who aids in running the Stark Empire.
Clark Kent "Oh gosh, I don't think I could bring myself to do merchandise." Superman says with a quiet laugh, following Steve's turn towards the hallway, noting the sounds of the settling manor with a... comforting sort of appreciation for the building. It reminds him of home, though not nearly so big. Looking back to the Captain, "Though I have seen a number of people walking around with Superman shirts recently. Which warms my heart. I was worried there would be a cooling amongst the populace with me being gone for so long. You know how the public conscious is."

Said almost heart warmingly humble despite his grandure.

"Perhaps I will, though I would appreciate to have you there as well. Perhaps Diana and Batman as well, if the latter can take time from his busy schedule.." Snorting into a quiet chuckle, thinking back to something said earlier. ''I'm busy, Kal''. "I've never had the pleasure of meeting Miss Potts, but I've heard she's... formidable. Seems like the perfect person to assist Tony. Someone with their head firmly in place. Strong willed women often are the basis for all powerful men, hm?" Finishing off his coffee, letting the sludge at the bottom slowly slide into his mouth from the upturned mug.
Steve Rogers "Certainly seems to be the case with strong women." Steve flickers a grin as he lifts his cup of coffee in silent salute to the Wasp not present at proceedings. He has more to finish himself, in no huge hurry to work through it by the appearance of things. Very quickly though, he returns to more sober business by air about himself.

"If you get it scheduled at Stark Tower, you'll likely see Miss Potts in passing at the very least. Seems like a wise idea to see about getting Diana and Batman involved. In fact, let's see about it," he decides with a curt nod. "A meeting of the minds."
Clark Kent The implications of that many big names in a single room... specifically Batman and Tony Stark.. is enough to make even the Man of Steel laugh. A deep and rich sound, even if it's not particularly loud. Imagining the scowling Dark Knight next to the boisterous Iron Man. "Oh that's amusing." Said out loud, voicing his own inner musing. But waving a hand to make it clear he's not being offensive in his line of thinking. "Sorry, just trying to unpack the look on Batman's face when I suggest it to him."

Another laugh follows. Face wrinkling from the expressive nature of his smile.

"Sorry.." Clearing his throat into his gently curled fist pressed against his bottom lip. "I'll send word to Miss Potts, then. Let her frontline putting the meeting together, I feel it's probably easier than just flying up and knocking on the window. Probably with less scorn from both, too." Everyone enjoys their privacy at home.

With it said, Kal pulls himself up with a bit of hover and a little effort of one hand against the arm of the chair. Setting his empty mug down upon the tray situated on the machines serving arm. "I don't want to take up any more of your time than I already have, Captain Rogers. Though I do hope to one day have a game of billards when it's a little more convenient for both of us?" Motioning with a little turn of his fingers in the direction of the ''game room''. Perhaps cheating just a little to see across the grand mansion.
Steve Rogers "Not everybody's for everybody," the Captain agrees mildly, his smile equally as such. "'nd yes, schedule with Miss Potts. She'll have the easiest access to Tony's schedule other than the AI in his building."

As Clark rises to his feet, Steve does the same, his own coffee set aside on the nearby chair-side table. He begins to walk towards the entryway proper, his shake of head good-natured. "You were no hassle, Clark. 's'good to see you out 'nd about again after everything that happened. You know where to find me once things're settled, if Tony doesn't get back to me first. We'll get things ironed out," he assures the man. He adds, with another faint smile, "Billiards would be enjoyable one day. Let me know when you've got the time."
Clark Kent "My father, Jonnathan, he once told me... You make the time for the things you want, Clark." Kal says with a grin in memory of the man who raised him as his own, "I'll be in touch, Steve." Extending his hand out to Rogers for another firm shake. "I'm sure Lois would delight in dragging me out with you and Janet again. If only so I can embarrass myself with my woefully outdated etiquette.."

Shortly after, Kal is moving towards the door, walking in conjunction with Steve as farewells are properly extended. "Give my best to Janet?" Slipping out onto the front step, his feet begin to hover up, curling down as he defies gravity and begins to float steadily skywards at a slow angular ascent.
Steve Rogers The handshake is returned before both continue towards the front door. "Been enough time since 've seen Lois. Janet'd be pleased to catch up, 'm sure," he says, opening the door to allow both out onto the front porch. He stands there, hands now slung off his pockets by his thumbs, and nods to Clark.

"Tell her you stopped by, yep." The man in the red cape gets a less formal salute off of Steve's temple, but the respect is there nonetheless in a facet of friendliness. "I'll keep an eye-out for the missive about the meeting. Until next time, Superman."
Clark Kent "Captain." Superman dips his head into a farewell, turning midair and angling his face up towards the sky above, taking flight with a steady climb. Not the sudden rush of someone escaping towards villain underway, but with a smile. Things were coming along, setting down a path that definite pleased the Farm Boy turned Super Man.

Now to brave the terrors of one Miss Pepper Potts.

Obstacles know no bounds!
