Owner Pose
Kitty Pryde Kitty texted ahead. She's in the city, checking on friends. Trying to get them to leave the city before Brainiac's return. For while there may end up being nowhere safe, New York is likely going to be an early target, maybe even the primary one.

The text just said she was in the area and wanted to check on Luke. Worried about her friends in the city. She makes her way to his apartment and up the stairs to his room above the bar and knocks on the door, glancing around the hallway and wondering how many other people here have already evacuated.
Luke Cage The answer to that question is obvious. Alot. Many already fleeing to other areas in an effort to find safety. Luke is not one of them.

He answers the door, "Hey Kitty." he greets, "You ok?" he asks as he gazes down at the young mutant.
Kitty Pryde Kitty Pryde nods her head. "Yeah, I'm good. Just worried about my friends here in the city. Stopping by and trying to talk them into getting away. Out somewhere safer where there isn't likely to be a fight," she tells him.

She smiles up to Luke and steps into the apartment. "This is, well, it's looking bad. I imagine New York will be one of the big battlegrounds. Do you have somewhere out of town you can go? If not I can hook you up with some friends maybe that could take you in," the teenage girl offers. Not aware of just who Luke is, and what special abilities he possesses, no more than he is aware of her own powers.
Luke Cage "Kitty...I..." he pauses for a moment. "I appreciate the concern but you really need to take care of yourself and see to your safety." he begins.

"This is my city, my neighborhood...when a fight comes to it, I dont run. I help protect it." for a moment there is a ripple of tension that rolls through that large muscled frame.
Kitty Pryde Kitty moves over to rest a hand on Luke's chest if he lets her. "I know, you want to protect the people here. I've got the impression of you, of the kind of man you are. But this stuff... I mean literally flying saucers. Get as many people out of the neighborhood as you can. I'll be ok. I don't live in the city," Kitty tells him.

She doesn't. Of course that doesn't mean she won't be there to fight when it's time, but that isn't exactly a compelling argument to get HIM to leave.

She gently gives his chest a pat. "What do you say, maybe help get your building here to leave and then take off with them?" she says. "I'd feel a lot safer knowing nothing is going to harm you."
Luke Cage Boldly then, confident, maybe a hint of arrogance, "Harm me? Kitty there isnt anything that can hurt me..." Not exactly true buts rare for him to run into anything so far.

"Look..." his hand settles at her side, "I know I dont look like much...a bartender, a bouncer...but sometimes you gotta be more than that."
Kitty Pryde The girl gives a quiet scoff and looks up at Luke. Muscles on top of muscles, on a frame that by itself most men would envy. "Oh yeah," she says, letting her gaze be overt enough to tell the tale of her thoughts. "You are utterly unimpressive," she says with a little roll of her eyes and then a soft grin.

"Ok, ok. I won't nag," Kitty says. "Won't nag more," she amends. Then pauses for a moment and further amends, "Won't nag TOO much more," she tells him. "Just, I worry about you. So be careful, ok? Bars can be rebuilt, people can't." If he lets her she moves to give the bigger man a tight hug that conveys her concern for him, though she lets go before it lingers too long.

"If you do need help, just call and I'll see if I can do anything," she says. Like a girl - how old is she anyway, 18? - could help with what's coming.
Luke Cage Luke Cage chuckles returning the hug. "That goes both ways...you need help you call me, I mean it. Anything. Aliens, flying saucers...whatever. I got you." he laughs. What would a bar owner do against that anyway?
Kitty Pryde Kitty smiles up to him and says, "Appreciate you having my back." She goes up on her tip toes to be able to brush a kiss to the black man's cheek. She turns and looks around the place. "At least, you know, take pictures for insurance. Upload them to the cloud. Helps a lot if you have to file a claim. Especially if it's through the government or what's their faces. The disaster recovery place," she says.

The girl turns back to him. "I should run, I need to check on a friend in Chinatown. Be safe, ok," she tells him, reaching out to slip a hand into his and squeeze it before she heads for the door.
Luke Cage Luke Cage nods laughing a bit, "Pretty smart." he agrees. "Friend in Chinatown? Ok. Thats cool...I hope I see you soon?" he mentions as he leans in the doorway to watch her go.
