Tim Drake Red Robin had informed the others: today was the day. The people he (and Conner) had been recruiting would be arriving later this afternoon-- he had requested their presence, and given the location and directions on how to get inside via comms already.

Now it was just to see how much chaos this was going to be. The open second level of the Outsiders base is pretty relaxed-- there's a set of non-descript double doors that lead to the second floor of Tim's 'house' in the renovated theater that gives the base its cover... technically those can be locked off, but Tim rarely arms them... the people with access to the base he hasn't really minded them coming and going, as they are all his closest friends anyway. The base-side of the second floor has a light slate blue carpeted floor from one end to the other, and besides the doors to Tim's place on one side and the elevator and stairs on the other, and a back door coming in the back side from a fire escape, it's wide open. There are some scattered small couches and chairs (with a few scattered side tables), but they have a somewhat sterile and impersonal feel to them. In fact, the whole room has the kind of feeling of a lobby more than anything else.

It's through the fire escape entrance that Megan, Phoebe, and Laura had been directed to come in. It's been disarmed (it's usually heavily locked and requires keycodes that drive Cassie nuts at their length and complexity... Tim's bad about that sort of thing) for today, since the new 'recruits' don't have codes yet.

Red Robin had told everyone to be in costume whe they showed up (or stumbled downstairs from the dorms on the top floor), and he's no exception. Kevlar-backed, form-fitting crimson red and black, with a utility belt, and the domino mask across his upper face, eyes concealed by a white-backed heads-up display. His left wrist's gauntlet is a big bulkier than the right, oweing to the presence of a micro-computer and screen within it. He's taken a position opposite the back door, standing with his arms crossed, awaiting the arrivals, his lips drawn into a straight line. This the Job. It's work. Tim's usually pretty serious about this sort of stuff.
Bart Allen Impulse is not as serious about the hero stuff. He is here and in costume, but he has been running now and again. He wants to be able to tell when the others are coming. While inside he tries to look relaxed, and as such has set on every couch in the room at least twice a couple of them more. He comes up beside Red Robin, and looks over to him "How much longer before they get here? Should I go out and try to find them and bring them in?"
Laura Kinney 'Costume'? Not a foreign concept to Laura, but she also saw no need for one, for herself. She had not been given, yet, membership fully to one of the X-Teams and so had no such combat outfit. Therefore, she'd done what she knew best.

Arriving in a combat-ready black catsuit, and black matching military-grade boots, the young dark-haired girl has foresaken a mask, leaving her identity entirely exposed. She never really saw the need for one. Her fingers, too, are bare in her fingerless gloves - and two slits show themselves in the back of her wrists.

She sniffs the air once, twice, and then walks in, eyes and body alert, perhaps suspecting that this is a combat scenario of some degree. Or maybe she's just always like this, coming into a new building. Wary of hers surroundings. Suspicious.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe had heard the communication, and had confirmed. She made her rounds early through the camps nearby, frequenting under bridges and making sure those she cared for were tended to before she made her way to the theater, coming in via rooftops.

When she arrived, she was wearing her normal outfit. An empty packover her shoulder, a cheap gray domino mask (with cloth stapled to it now, instead of its elastic), the hood of her jacket pulled over her head. She was wearing spray-painted shinguards and kneepads that look like they were lifted from someone's safety skating pack. She was nervous as anything as she dropped down from the rooftop and onto the fire escape, and passes through the door, keeping her mask on and her scarf up.
Conner Kent Full costume, really? Conner has not worn it in weeks. But look at him today. A classic: red pants, blue t-shirt with the bit red-on-gold S, black boots and... well. There is the leather jacket, and red finger-less gloves, and a black belt with metal studs. At least he is not wearing sunglasses (indoors).

No, seriously. No more sunglasses. He has enhanced senses now. It would be silly(er).

He is tall and strong, and cuts an impressive figure, though, and he is well aware of it.

Also, the pizzas were his idea. They smell delicious.

No one had told him about Laura. He expected only Megan and Beacon. "Hey, hello. He greets."
Cassie Sandsmark Make that another vote for 'costume.' Cassie, even at her most heroic, has never taken a very decorative nor secretive approach to her Wonder Girl persona (we don't talk about the wig phase). Just about every one of her oft-varied heroic outfits is just some sort of Wonder Woman-branded street ensemble. But since it's official, she makes a point of showing up in the most athletic of the bunch: a black sleeveless top with the wing-like golden 'WW' logo across her chest, red fitted athletic pants, and sneankers. But they say the acessories make the outfit, and hers make it heroic: the signature silver bracers, and a golden loop on one hip.

But it seems like she's in similar company!

She does in fact come down from one of the rooms, having flown in the night before and crashed over night, and so it's mostly her taking a little extra time to get ready that prevents her from being right on hand with Tim to greet people. "Looks like you've wrangled in a few new ones," she comments, glancing around a bit and settling briefly on Laura. "Hey all." That's before she spots Conner in his full getup and ends up grinning a little too widely. "Ooh, brought out the jacket and everything."
M'gann M'orzz The next to arrive looks to be a rather ordinary redhead. The fair-skinned be-freckled individual appears to be wearing a rather casual combo of a T-shirt and jeans, with blue sneakers on the feet. The shirt, a black affair with a series of polyhedral dice with the text 'Choose Your Weapons', seems right at home with the cute but nerdy vibe that the wandering individual is presenting. A perfectly normal looking young woman....walking into a room full of costumes.

With a start, and a slight blush, the girl offers a smile. "Sorry....just a sec..." With that, the girl that Conner may know as Megan changes. The skin shifts to a light green hue, as the green eyes give way to red. The general form remains the same, though the freckles disappear, as the nerd ensemble melts and flows into a costume reminiscent of her uncle J'onn, the Martian Manhunter himself. A dark blue knee-length cape emerges from her shoulders, as the gamer shirt morphs into a white short-sleeved top with a red X across her chest. A golden belt forms at her waist, while the jeans flow into a blue skirt, with matching ankle boots.

The transformation is quick...and when complete, M'gann flashes a bright smile, complete with a twitter of her fingers towards Conner in greeting. "There. All set!"
Tim Drake Red Robin glances around, and internally sighs at Cassie and Conner. Conner will probably be oblivious until the day he dies on that score, even if he's never oblivious about literally any other woman that's ever crossed his path. Ugh.

Business. Even if Conn--Superboy insisted on pizza. Which does smell insanely good right now. "Uh, hi guys. So..." Leadership, Drake. Leadership! What would Dick do?

He straightens up a bit more (he's already pretty much as stiff and stern-looking as it gets) and says "Welcome to the Outsiders. I'm Red Robin. This is Superboy, Wondergirl, and Impulse." He gestures at each of them in turn. There's a brief mental flicker wondering where Rose is, but... she's prone to disappearing and reappearing as she pleases. He forces his momentary concern aside and focuses on the present. "Guys, this is Miss Martian, Beacon, and..." he looks at Laura. The costume isn't much but it's better than what Pheobe's in (for now), but it confirmed some of his suspicions. "I actually don't know your name. I mean, I know your real name. But not... you know. Your codename." He lets Laura introduce herself.
Laura Kinney Laura looks around the room, noting the room itself, her eyes calculating possible exits, escape routes, and various optimal places for combat - as well as each individual in the room as gazed at with an intensity well beyond what a girl her age should have within them. M'gann, especially.

When Red Robin begins to address them, she looks to Red Robin. And, there is a long pause, clearly, she needs some sort of 'codename' to fit in. Her mouth twists in thought, before she states, "You use codenames, and wish me to assign myself one? Very well. X-23. That was my designation previously." Thankfully, for now, she doesn't go into further detail on just where she got it, or who gave it to her.

"I will also respect you and not give out your real name," she confides to Red Robin, matter-of-factly. Laura is at least trying. Gotta give her credit.
Phoebe Beacon     Beacon stays to the back of the group, wallflowering, faceless for the moment -- Wondergirl and Impulse get a nod, though Phoebe looks at Superboy in curiousity, her arms still crossed over her chest as she looks through everyone in turn. Megan's transformation had captured her attention, and she can't help but smile at the other friendly girl -- not that anyone can see through the scarf hiding the lower half of her face.

There is a muffled 'How do you do?' given when she's introduced. "Wondergirl and Impulse I've met." she gives a wry note to her voice; "How are the snails?"
Conner Kent Conner flashes a grin to Cassie as comes down. Good entrance, he can appreciate the timing. But most of his attention is on the new people. Serious brunette, nervous brunette and Megan who... okay, that was pretty impressive. "So, that is how you do it. Pretty cool. I'd say your human form is too alike your real shape, but since most people don't know your full powers it doesn't matter."

Says someone that thinks donning glasses is a good disguise.

When Laura says her codename is X-23 he gives the young woman a sharp glance. Because his 'designation' was X-13. And that brings back some best forgotten memories.
M'gann M'orzz Oh, poor Tim. The mental reprimand to himself to act as a leader gets M'gann's attention. It earns him a smile and a quick wink. Yes, she certainly picked that up. The attention shifts to Conner, as he gets another smile. "Like you just changing t-shirts?" A giggle escapes from M'gann's throat. "Oh, but what makes you think this is my real shape?" Another giggle sounds out as the Martian turns away.

The girl in the back gets M'gann's attention next. "Hi! I'm..." A pause as she glances back towards Red Robin. "Is it okay for names?" Oh, nevermind, she just plows on anyways. "I'm M'gann." There would have been more...but the very intense attention given to her from Laura is felt. Oh, most certainly felt, to the point where M'gann turns to stand besides Phoebe, leaning down to whisper to her. "Any idea why she is staring at me like that? I mean...I could go look myself, but I'm trying to not, you know, be nosey or anything..."
Laura Kinney Shapes can fool the eyes, even the sense of touch. But they cannot fool some of the other senses. Laura answers for herself, simply, and concisely. "You aren't human." She's never met an alien before. While each 'human', mutant or no, may have their own scent they all, much like other animals of planet earth, all have a definining underlying scent.

Yes, M'gann. She heard you.

Her eyes flit over to Conner, whose attention is fixated on her in kind to how hers was on M'gann. Her eyes squint at him, as if trying to figure something out. "If you have a question," she tells Conner, but likely inclusive of all around, "Ask. I have nothing to hide." And considering she's not even wearing a domino mask to hide her face, her statement is probably quite true.
Tim Drake Red Robin glances around from one person to the next, and shrugs. Then he reaches up, popping his domino mask off. "Well, yeah, M'Gann. You beat me to it."

He sighs softly. "Look, the Titans may do things differently-- but we..." he gestures, "Bart, Cassie, Conner, me, Rose," that last name has no one to point to, thus he doesn't, "we may have been fighting at each other's sides for a long time, but we're friends first, before anything else. So... I don't know how we'd manage to keep these secrets from each other."

He looks a little less stern now. "So. I'm Tim. I'd like you three to join us-- you know. Save kittens, toss bad guys in jail, protect the innocent. The whole hero thing."

He looks to Conner and Cassie specifically. "I've told you about Beacon-- she can heal people. M'gann is the Manhunter's niece. And... X-23 has knife hands-- and she can heal herself." That last bit is delivered with a hint of humor. "I mean, what more do we need? Besides to get into the pizza." He's trying to play it cool, but he is extremely stressing at the moment. This can make or break things-- how the old team reacts to the new recruits.

Plus he still has no idea where Rose is, and she's always been a wild card. "But seriously. I want everyone to talk. Get to know each other. And hopefully... we'll start working together. This is the Roost. I know the room you're in doesn't look like much, but..." he shrugs modestly. "There's more up and down. With everything that's been happening, the world needs more people like us."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe, beneath the scarf, gives a smile to M'gann. Her voice is friendly enough though. "Beacon. Gotham native." she explains, offering a gloved hand to shake.

Being this close to Beacon puts M'Gann in her aura, which is warm and comforting. Feels genuinely good to be close. "I would suspect that--" she begins, but then Laura answers for herself. And she motions to Laura, and then she breathes out, and pulls down her scarf, then pulls down her hood. Her hair tonight is in myriad braids, and then bound in the back. She has dark skin, and freckles, and rubs the back of her neck for a moment, cheap domino held in place. "Phoebe, by the by. Nice to meet you, M'Gann, X-23, Superboy." she states, and then gives a bright smile. "Ah... I don't suppose there's one that's just veg?"
Conner Kent Conner shakes his head, smiling at Laura. But then he seems to consider again. "Well, 'designation' sounds military," comments Conner, looking at Laura again. "Or paramilitary. It is the same as a codename, but not really the same, y'know?" It made perfect sense in his head. "Nevermind."

Robin was telling him to talk. As if he needed incentive. But there are some issues he is not going to touch the first day. "Anyway. I am Conner. It is not a major secret as I have no family to protect with my secret identity, but I rather it not reached the news, I enjoy some privacy and changing the name in my id cards would be a hassle."
M'gann M'orzz "Oooh....I love what you done with your hair!" As M'gann praises Phoebe's hair, her own red locks come alive, her hair working itself into a facsimile of Phoebe's style. The hand is taken eagerly, the green fingers curling around the gloved hand of Phoebe and shaking it before releasing. "Nice to meet you, too."

Then, M'gann turns her attention to Laura. "Yup, you're right. But, that doesn't mean we can't be friends." A rather silly grin crosses over the Martian's features. "Why, some of my best friends are human. Well...like all of them! Except Uncle J'onn. But then again, he's family, so he has to like me, right?"

M'gann wanders over towards the pizza, to take a look. Probably because Phoebe asked for a veggie pizza slice. "Oh! There is one here. You want a piece, Phoebe?" With that, one of the pieces slowly detaches itself, hovering just above the rest of the pizza, waiting for the answer.
Cassandra Cain There is a lot of people now. One two, three...there should be seven, eight if you count speed-boots. Everyone moving around, talking, not talking, poking at each other. The chaos is restrained, with a lot going on at once. Perhaps it would be forgiven then that nobody notices that there's one more shadow than there are people.

No extra voice in the head either, to alert M'gann, though there is an odd buzz. Almost a repetition of what's going on. Tim would be given a chance to see, two familiar eyes looking out from a place nobody is looking. Prepared for scent, sound, and sight. And yet the shifty little sneaker waits to be called out. How long will they take?
Cassie Sandsmark "Well THAT is pretty cool," offers Cassie with a suitably impressed expression and overall reaction to M'gann's transformation. "Also, so like... your clothes are part of the whole thing?" Some might take that a /weird/ direction, but her reaction is more practical: "Or do they also change? Either way, that has to make getting ready /so/ much easier!"

"I actually don't care about the secrecy, cloak-and-dagger stuff all that much," she goes on to add, attention returning to Laura with some interest. Maybe puzzlement, curiousity, definitely something, given the young woman's very peculiar demeanor. "Its more a bat thing. But uh, you kind of have that vibe going, yourself. Anyway so you can all call me Cassie if you prefer." While her identity isn't -quite- public, the lack of mask, familial association with VERY public Wonder Woman, all of that, makes it kind of a chore to bother!

Phoebe just gets a finger-wiggle hello amidst the exchange of greetings. "Yeah Beacon and me know each other. She's actually doing some Amazon training too." But now we're getting to the bottom of things, and it's back to Laura yet again. Apparently 'knife hands' is actually more weird than 'alien.' But... the Titans have several aliens, and everyone's heard of J'onn, so maybe that kind of figures. "Knife hands?"

Either way, she's soon off to join Conner, or well, actually join Conner's pizza. "Bet they come in handy when you need to cut a fresh slice!" A big wide grin.
Laura Kinney "It is not military," Laura tells Conner, flatly, but without any rancor. She is simply reciting facts. Her past-life, distilled down into cold, hard facts that she is neither ashamed of, or proud of. They are simply facts.

"I was the first succesfull clone in an attempt to recreate the Weapon X program by a shadow government orginization called The Facility," she educates Conner.

She gives a nod to Red Robin's assessment of her abilities. "Beyond my claws and healing factor, I am also well versed in combat, and covert operations, including battle assessment and reactive strategy to deal with dangerous, and powered targets. I can speak several languages as well, including French, Japanese, and Russian."

There is another brief pause, she looks to Red Robin. "However, I also have enhanced senses, and I am able to track my prey for several miles by their scent."

To that end, she looks over Cassandra Cain's way. "You have not introduced her," Laura points out to Red Robin.

Her face draws an impassive line at M'gann's proposal. "I do not have many 'friends'." No regret there. Just another 'fact'. Though, it's likely enough Laura has more friends that she herself realizes.
Tim Drake Why yes, paranoia is a Bat-trait. So it's no shock that it's Tim that notices an extra shadow about the same time Laura points her out. He does a double-take, and then actually pinches the bridge of his nose. "Cass?" He eyes the young League of Assassins-trained skulker with recognition on his face... and resignation. "Did you bring that kitten with you for pizza?" he asks her, looking both amused and... a little worried. (The telepath will likely feel a spike of annoyance mixed with tamped down mental laughter.)

"Uh. This is Cass." He considers. "She doesn't talk much, but she's... pretty great to have around in a fight." He is playing it off as if he had invited her on the surface, but he's a bit surprised to see her, even if he recognizes her. And trusts her.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe pauses a moment, watching as M'Gann's hair begins to braid itself, and she looks both surprised and amazed by the alien's red hair forming an imitation of her own braids. "That's... that's amazing. If I could do THAT my weekly prep would be a breeze!" she gives a small laugh, and she walks over to M'Gann as she takes off her gloves and slips them into a pocket. "I will have a slice, thank you M'Gann -- am I getting the pronunciation right?" she inquires politely, deciding automatically that she likes the other happy person in the room, though she looks over the others here.
Conner Kent Conner actually does glance up to Cass when she shows up, and then at Tim. More surprises? Oh, and Laura explanation sounds vaguely ominous. Not knowing what Weapon X is (or who) does detract a bit of the whole reveal thing. Wait... "clone?"

That bit stops him on his way to get a slice of pizza. If Bart devours all the triple cheese pizza before he can have a slice, he will blame Laura.
M'gann M'orzz The pizza slice offered to Phoebe just hovers there as M'gann shifts to regard Cassie. "Oh, don't worry. It isn't like the clothing is actually me or anything." Drawbacks of talking to a telepath. As Phoebe answers, the triangle of cheesy goodness floats on over her, depositing itself neatly into the gloved hands while M'gann keeps right on talking. "They are actually clothing. Just...biological. They respond to my thoughts. Like my ship."

Yup, that's right. The girl comes with her own transportation. Which might be a surprise even to Tim, if he never got back that firewall.

The buzzing catches M'gann off-guard, enough to cause the girl to actually frown slightly. "That...never happened before..." With a turn, she follows Laura's line-of-sight, seeing Cassandra for the first time. The frown disappears immediately into a grin, as M'gann waves in greeting. "Oh! You must have been that buzz. That's a neat trick!"

What exactly is M'gann talking about? She's too busy socializing to explain for the moment.
Cassandra Cain Even when you're looking where Laura and Tim are pointing, where M'gann is speaking to, it's still not easy to pick out the fact that this particular shadow is a person. She, and it is a she, has done such an impressive job of blending in that the eye doesn't want to notice her. If she did this in a combat zone she'd likely be able to get past...nearly anyone. Which is probably why she has chosen to do so, so those present will know what she can do.

Which is good since she's not speaking. The face inside smiles, white teeth showing mischief as she gives herself away a little bit more. And then, just to be random...

A small motion, and then a small orange kitten walks out from that shadowy corner. It looks around at all the people, many of which are looking his direction, and then proceeds to clean himself with his paw.

She snuck in a kitten. For...the challenge? You know it's actually hard to tell.
Tim Drake "...Bart's going to insist we keep it," Tim mutters under his breath as the small orange kitten wanders into the sight of everyone. He snags a piece of pizza himself, not even bothering to see what kind he grabbed. "You can come out, Cass. And since Bart's around you probably want to get pizza before he inhales it all." He gives the shadows a wry grin.

He looks to M'Gann and Laura. "You guys too. You'll figure out quick some of the quirks around here. Bart's a speedster, so he ends up killing anything with calories." Laura might remember Tim's comment when they met to that.
Laura Kinney Laura nods once to Cassandra Cain, an acknowledgement of the other's skills; afterall, if it weren't for her heightened senses she wouldn't have noticed the girl and Laura realizes that. She is on Laura's level, as far as stealth goes. Perhaps on other levels with her, as well. Laura regards the silent one for a long silent moment herself, before finally turning her attention to the pizza.

Taking a slice, she looks back to Conner. "Yes. The first twenty-two attempts had a flaw in the male genetic material. My mother percieved the flaw, and inserted her own genetic material in place of the male. Which is why I am female, instead of male." It's all rather logical, from Laura's perspective.

However, finally, Laura does state, "It is nice to meet all of you." She nods to M'gann, her opinion of aliens, thus far, is not a bad one. And she begins to eat the pizza - though, not perhaps with the same gusto as she had the hotdogs with Tim.
Cassie Sandsmark "Well, self-updating outfits still sound really convenient. And the HAIR." Cassie's expression basically screams TEACH ME YOUR WAYS M'GANN, even if, well, she is obviously not a shapeshifter and, presumably, cannot make her hair magically style itself. Still. It is an awe-inspiring sort of ability.

She acquires pizza, a slize with more or less everything on it, and stands there, holding it up and nibbling. She does not seem to notice they have an extra guest, not until Tim points her out. Eyes go up, and she tilts her head. "So, more Bat lurking?" she wonders, briefly, before distracted by something MUCH more interesting:

"OMG its adorable!" Biting down one last mouthful of pizza and then setting it aside, Cassie launches toward the little kitty. It's dubious she'll beat Bart, but still! "I INSIST WE KEEP IT TOO," she tells Tim, in case he should mistake this for some rogue view and not an appropriately democratically arrived-at conclusion.

In the background, there's clone-talk, and she looks back: "Weird coincidence." How many people know one clone, let alone several? "It wasn't like the same group working on both of you, or anything, was it?"
Tim Drake Tim's expression is actually deep in thought, calculating as Laura mentions her past (of which to be clear, he DIDN'T know anything, but he has to keep the aura up of knowing everything anyway so he's pretending none of this surprises him) mixed with what he knows of Conner's. "It might be worth looking into, at any rate," he replies to Cassie, //pointedly ignoring the democratically arrived-at decision//. He's probably outvoted.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe contentedly eats her Pizza -- after grabbing a plate to let it land on as M'Gann sends it her way, and she withdraws a little bit, watching the goings on as everyone oo's and aa's over the little kitten.

And she leans over to Tim, quietly "Oranges tend to be male. You'll want to look into early neuter and spay before he makes your roost smell like a bottle of ammonia." she reccomends quietly to the other Gothamite, and then takes a seat in one of the chairs to enjoy the vegetable pizza. Yum.
Conner Kent "It gotta be a coincidence," comments Conner quietly. "Pretty sure she is no Kryptonian, and I had never heard of Weapon X. I was X-13, from eXperiment thirteen. The first twelve were bizarros. Dead on arrival." Conner had NEVER told this to anyone. He looks like he has lost the appetite for pizza, too.

"I brought my old outfit, Tim," he rubs his brow. "And my notes on N.O.W.H.E.R.E. I'll go over them with you later. I am, hmm, going to make a couple phone calls."

He pulls out the cellphone, and as an afterthought, he gets a slice of triple cheese pizza. Then wanders off.
M'gann M'orzz Oh, M'gann didn't need to read Cassie's mind to get the full effect of that expression. It does prompt the green-hued girl to consider, then..."Well, it would be a little slower, but...maybe I could help? Did you want braids like Phoebe?" A piece of pizza (another veggie) floats up to M'gann's hand, as a plate floats over to her opposite hand, before pizza meets plate. "I mean, it would be just braiding by hand, only not, I guess...."

Well...then the kitten takes precedence. The redhead turns, watching the fuss over the furry interloper, before she reaches out to speak to Cassandra. But...not vocally. Instead, M'gann's voice chimes within that buzzing mind of the silent one, just as bright and cheery as vocally.

<<Such an adorable little kitten! Did you name it yet?>>
Cassandra Cain THe kitten's response is to lean back when Cassie comes down toward it onto his back legs, his front paws raised up. It is clearly ready for any attacker, and when Cassie turns her head away to answer the clone-talk, it plants a soft fuzzy paw firmly on her nose.

Having thus defeated her, he apparently allows her to live and steps forward to rub against whatever he can reach, rub-rub. He has been clearly trained as a hunter, and is already winning battles for the team.

The shadow from which kittens emerge stands, and as Cass raises up she does so with an odd smoothness. She just flows, no visible effort used, and stands before X-23. Eye to eye, she lifts an eyebrow. So little that it could be missed. Enough.

And the little orange guy eyes Laura as well, from underneath Cassie's torso. Warriors know each other.

When Phoebe speaks to Cass, she turns her head enough to see, and her thoughts register: someone speaking at me. Something about the cat. Very little else reads, the content being too complex for body language...and is almost immediately distracted. Words. In my head. In my head!

Cass backs away from Laura, who is no longer a potential threat, and she places her hands on her temples. She shakes her head spasmodically, eyes looking around for something.

They settle on M'gann, and her thoughts grasp that there's some link involved. Eyes narrow, and she slows her motions.

She's never heard thoughts before.
Laura Kinney Laura consumes her pizza, then looks over to Cassie, telling the demi-goddess, "The group responsible for me was called The Facility. They are still in operation, and funded by the United States Government, secretly. In part, they are responsible for liquidating high profile targets." Which, undoubtedly, is where her skills - and her 'knife hands' were derived for, and from.

She takes another piece of pizza, "Since my escape, however, I have attempted to integrate into society and do what I can to assist people. Those at Xavier's have assisted with this in part. I believe this group, too, based on what Red Robin has said, will also assist. I appreciate the opportunity."

There is a consideration, and two important questions. "Does this group have a designation?" And, "Do you have any preferences on rules of engagement I should be aware of?"
Tim Drake Tim looks after his best friend as he leaves, frowning. Conner doesn't often get... down. He files away a mental note to check on the half-Kryptonian as soon as he can extricate himself. He takes another bite of the pizza, then looks to Phoebe. "Sounds like a really good plan, then-- I'd rather not have the place covered in cat pee." He wrinkles his nose. He nods to Laura. "We are the Outsiders," he replies to her. "And we don't kill." Bat habits are strict ones. "Beyond that? We all have our own ways of fighting. There's a training facility in the sub-levels, and I highly encourage everyone to make use of it, and spar with each other. Learn each other's styles, and strengths. Knowing is half the battle."
Cassie Sandsmark For a moment, as she glances back to watch after Conner as he departs, Cassie's own expression darkens somewhat in sympathy.

... but then she's kitten-booped. So there's really no staying in any kind of bad mood. Whatever the weird clone nonsense is, they'll figure it out, if there's people out there who know more, they'll find them, and in the meanwhile: KITTY.

"Hello there look at you! Aren't you just the handsomest little guy..." Proud hunter that he is, he may not expect his 'defeated' prey to remain quite so animated, but Cassie is absolutely wrapped up in it. She remains crouched down near the floor, and as the little orange guy rubs against her feet and legs, she reaches out to offer him a finger, stroke over his back, and generally fuss at the little guy. One end of her lasso may quickly end up a makeshift toy, bouncing around for him to pounce, bat, and chase.

Tim obviously has no chance but to concede this one!

As Tim explains the 'no liquidating' policy, she finally stands up, turning to look back toward Laura, and in that way both figuratively and maybe slightly literally stepping up to help Tim a bit with this leader-y stuff. Since she's supposed to be SOME kind of back-up. "I think part of the idea is that we'll get to be a bit more flexible than some other teams. The Titans, who I also work with, well, they're basically Junior Justice League. Training for the big leagues, but also kind of high profile because of that? I think we're gonna try a more under-the-radar approach." The training talk inspires another quick addition: "Anyone wants, I can show you some Amazon drills."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe gives a wry little smile, and then an embarrassed laugh. "I'm... pretty sure that sparring on me isn't... going to help anyone here." she admits quietly, giving a small laugh to herself, and then she pipes up.

"They're difficult. I've got some of the basics down -- Cassie and Diana are wonderful teachers -- but my style is more... avoidance." she gives a wan smile. "On the plus sides, bumps and bruises aren't a problem for me, but being up close and personal with combatants tends to help them more than it helps me." she explains quietly.
Laura Kinney Laura gives a sharp nod to Cassie, understanding at least in part the explination given.

It's to Tim she addresses her next comment. "Knowledge is more than half the battle," she argues. "You need to understand both your own abilities and weaknesses, as well as that of your opponents as well as the enviornment in which the fight is going to occur."

Poor Tim. Every single one of his nerd references are going to go straight over Laura's head.

She looks over to Phoebe, and suggests, "Start with dance." Simple, and to the point. "Or yoga. Once you have a fundamental grasp on balance, martial arts, including the art of avoidance, will come more easily to you."

She looks back to Cassie. "What style of combat do Amazonians use?" Interested, perhaps, if there's something new for her to learn.
Tim Drake "Oh, yeah. That reminds me of something." Tim reaches over to a bag sitting on one of the chairs. "Phoebe, I told you the other night you're gonna get yourself killed out there without some protection." He tosses her the bag. "I spent some time in Fabrication earlier. You're welcome."

Inside is a costume... grey and lightly armored, much like some of the older Robin costumes were, but not as heavily as Red Robin's or Red Hood's currently are-- but still good enough to turn a knife or light arms fire as long as it's not sustained. There's a sigil on the chest: a white shooting star trailing a yellow trail. There's also a grey domino mask similar to Tim's own, with built in comms and a tracker that reports back to the Roost. It's not super high tech and amazing, but it's light years ahead of her makeshift costume.

He glances to Laura. "I think I may need to get something made for you, too." He seems to be considering the options.
M'gann M'orzz As Cassandra glares at M'gann, reacting in a manner considerably less favorable than expected, the redhead actually takes a step back. "Oh...I did it again, didn't I?" M'gann immediately shifts to remorse, apologizing to Cassandra. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to startle you!" The red eyes cast downward as M'gann turns away from the group. "I sometimes forget that it isn't exactly nice to, well..." The sentence is finished, but not verbally...and to everyone except Cassandra. as M'gann's voice is heard mentally. <<...speak without actually talking.>>

Well, Tim did say that everyone should learn what everyone can do. However, this isn't really how M'gann expected to do so.

An apologetic smile is given to Cassandra...and Tim as well. "I'll be more mindful of myself in the future." Pun....not intended.
Bart Allen Bart Allen has been eating pizza, and did put a hurting on it, and so he ran off to get some more. He blurs back in with pizzas from about 7 different places, one of them with Italian markings and one Japanese markings. He sets them on the table, and looks around "Sorry went and got a refill." It is then he sees the cat "Oh who's Kitten?" He will ask "Can it stay?" And before Tim can answer he has zoomed off and is back with a cat tree now assembles in one corner.
Cassandra Cain The prey stood up! It is moving! The little orange thing lifts up, trying to catch the end of Cassie's lasso as she takes it out of reach. It wobbles on its hind legs as the slightly-taller-than-him Cassandra Sandsmark dangles his new glowy toy out of reach.

Then falls over on his back, and scrambles up to groom. He did that on purpose.

Orphan leans back, eyes locked on M'gann as she ignores the kitten's antics. She isn't registering what the martian is saying, and yet...she smiles, in a very calm fashion. It happens suddenly and without forewarning. She nods to M'gann, then turns and looks at the room. Then she lifts a hand, steals a slice of pizza from off of Bart's delivery before it fully hits the table, and walks out the door.

Leaving the kitten behind. She seems to have accepted the apology, though she isn't commenting on how, why, or...

Frankly she's a bit wierd.
Cassie Sandsmark "Well, the basics go back to ancient Greece, so it's like... olden timey stuff, swords, spears, shields, archery. The not-so-basics?" Cassie pauses to consider her phrasing a moment, as she tries to answer Laura in a useful way. "The Amazons are a sorority of immortal warriors, all with superior physical abilities than normal humans, who have trained and fought for thousands of years to guard against mythical threats imprisoned inside their home. Their athletic regimes are meant to challenge people with those kind of abilities: I never had a session that didn't leave me feeling ready to collapse on the spot, and I'm-" she glances around, struggles a moment as she tries to find the right word, tones, to get it across without sounding too brag-y or too embarassed, crossing her arms but then unfolding one to wave vaguely in the air, "-well, a demigoddess, like Wonder Woman. The three of us, uh there's Troia too, we're physically well beyond even the rest of the Amazons, but General Philippus never failed to keep us on our toes."

Less focused on the kitten now, she faces Laura. "Usually I've been more on the student side, admittedly, but part of MY training is that I need to learn to teach, lead. I think for us, everything will have to be individualized, but I promise, whatever you can do... and you strike me as someone who knows her stuff, I'll try and find ways to push you harder and further. And hopefully you can teach me some new tricks to take back to the island."

The exchange between M'gann and Cassandra, such as it is (or largely isn't) is too puzzling to work out exactly, but she still offers their alien friend some reassurance: "Don't feel too bad. We're all gonna have to learn each other's quirks and abilities. I'm probably the most boring one here, though, so like, ask me anything."
Laura Kinney When M'ggan's telepathic message comes across to her mind, Laura whirls, suddenly her mein switched from 'alert' to 'ready to fight'. It only lasts a moment or two, before she understands what has happened, and she too looks at M'ggan meaningfully, slowly going back to 'alert' mode. She finally nods, as full realization dawns, and she seems to accept the telepathic messaging from the alien-girl, whom Red Robin trusts and is otherwise not setting off her alarms.

This allows her to focus back onto Cassie. "I do not tire easily. However, while many forms of martial arts were part of my training and learning, I am certain none of that included anything from Greece, or the Amazons. I will take you up on your offer to train with you, and, perhaps, exchange knowledge of combat. Are you familiar with all the tendons and ligaments in the human body? There are very effective ways to disable a person without killing them."
Tim Drake Tim claps a hand on Cassie's shoulder. "Yeah. Cassie's a great teacher. And she's right. We are all very, very different in our skills, abilities, and knowledge bases." He looks around the room. "I'm actually pretty sure I'm the only normal person here," he notes, almost under his breath. But that doesn't seem to faze him... it's more of an aside. "Conner's a Kryptonian..." he glances towards Cassie and Bart, then back to the others. "Basically, Superman is his Dad, and unfortunately, his Dad knows where we are and has popped in once already." He'll tell Cassie about that later. It's embarrassing. Both he AND Conner were hungover.

"Bart's a speedster, like the Flash. And yeah, Cassie's a goddess." //Which Conner seems to miss out on every time, the idiot.// he thinks to himself ruefully. He'll need to get used to thinking quieter with a telepath around. "And of course, M'Gann's a Martian like the Manhunter, Phoebe is... some kind of metahuman..." he tilts his head. Maybe she'll let him run tests later. "And if I'm guessing right, Laura is a mutant." He eyes Cass. "And Cass is a Cass." He doesn't elaborate.
Cassandra Cain In the background, the kitten starts to climb. He is prepared for this journey, his claws ready to scale the precipice. He perches on a ledge, then leaps to the next. With infinite grace he dislodges a hand that sits where he wished to be, batting it out of his path.

A sudden shift of the mountain causes him to scramble; it isn't stable! Leaping, he gets off of M'gann's knee where she rests and achieves the top of the side table, with a meow of triumph for reaching this immense height all on his own!

And then knocks someone's drink on the floor. My space. Harumph.
Bart Allen Bart Allen will move to catch the drink before it hits the floor. He looks at the little kitten, and says "Hey there Mister Kitten, need to watch that. Rob gets upset at messes, and we want you to be able to stay." He will lean in to scritch the kitten softly, and looks over to Phoebe "And the snails are good still looking for a sabretooth snail, I did see some dinosaurs lately, but I did not think Rob would let me have a T-rex.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe gives a slight smile, leaning back and quietly glances over to Bar with a little smile. "No luck on the sabertooth?" she questions softly, and she glances around to the group, and rubs the back of her head a moment, quietly reflecting on the events of the evening as she leans back in the chair..

"Some sort of metahuman, who has a limit on school nights." she gently reminds Tim.
Laura Kinney "I am a mutant," agrees Laura, matter-of-factly. "My 'father', the one I was cloned from, is The Wolverine." Perhaps Tim has heard of Old Man Logan, the dude has, afterall, been around over a century and certainly somewhere Batman must have a file on him.

Still, "You all have a very impressive array of abilities. I promise to do my best to compliment and assist your team." Teamwork, afterall, is not really in Laura's portfolio just yet. And, compared to some on the team she's not sure how much she could contribute. But, likely enough that will come in time, and with experience. The mutant-girl is, at least, 'all in'.

Briefly, she looks at Phoebe. "Do not ever worry about healing me. Even if the wound appears fatal. It is not. I will recover efficiently. However, if I am both killed and lose a limb and am unable to retrieve it, I would ask any of you to make certain you set it against the wound to facilitate reattachment quickly."

Practical, this one.

Her vivid green eyes move, now, to more fully study Bart. "I have heard about the dinosaurs. I have not hunted any, yet. It would be a worthy contest, I'm certain." Almost like she'd look forward to such an opportunity.
Cassie Sandsmark "Only half," Cassie corrects Tim with just a mild touch of irritation, as if it is a pretty important distinction, and either glossing over any other possible meaning for the term OR being a little annoyed by it. It's a brief aside, and she's back to Laura, as they're talking 'shop' and that seems to interest her. " I'm familiar with human anatomy, to a point, and the Amazons have their own tradition of medicine as well, which kinda touches on that stuff... although really, quite a bit of our training is more... well, learning to handle more unusual foes. Again, the monster hunting thing." She makes another vague gesture with that non-folded hand. "So the anatomy gets pretty strange."

But she doesn't dwell on the details!

"We'll figure it out. I'm guessnig some of the weapon stuff might be redundant to the 'knife hands,'" she still seems curiously uncertain about these but too polite to ask to see, "but I'm sure there's plenty of interesting things you can do with those. I'll need new drills!"

And then there's poor Phoebe, who gets a sympathetic: "Me too." That is something which she seems to need to remind Tim of. "I'm going to be starting college in the fall too, and my mom's pretty insistent that the hero-stuff can't get in the way of my grades. So..." Suddenly she's smiling FAR too wide. "I may need some of those infamous Bat-smarts to help out, here or there."
Tim Drake Tim spreads his hands out apologetically to Cassie. "Only half. And why did I expect to hear that coming?" Tim's only 19 but already in his senior year, coming up, for college at Gotham U, double majoring, almost perfect GPA AND he patrols at least 4 nights a week. He cuts Cassie a look. "I'm sure something, class-wise, can be arranged, Wondergirl," he says dryly.

He tilts his head. "Oh, yeah. There's a white-haired girl with an eyepatch around here too. She... comes and goes. But she's part of the team. She can be prickly." That's... charitable. "That's Rose. You'll probably see her around."
Bart Allen Bart Allen will look over to Cassie, "I am starting classes soon, gotta balance it and work." He says as he plays with the kitten a bit. I work at night at the zoo though , and can cover my job in a few moments if need be." He admits. He lets his fingers be grabbed by the kitten, and smiles "You are just like the tigers only oh so much smaller." He tells the kitten. "Oh and I am not only a speedster, I am from the future, but I can't tell ya anything about it other than it is cool, and my cousin is part of the legion.
Phoebe Beacon     "Noted." Phoebe replies quietly, shifting her weight a bit as she weighs in on different things, going a bit back and forth as she purses her lips a moment. "She's the one from the other night, right? With the... ah. Really Good Aim?" she makes it very gentle, and she looks slowly over at Bart, with the casual revelation, and she gives a slight smile. "Ah, there's only one thing I'd want to find out about the future anyway." she gives a small laugh.
M'gann M'orzz As Tim speaks of Rose, M'gann's head perks up....and she shifts to peer at him, with a somewhat knowing expression. "Rose, is it?" Yes...it seems that now M'gann has a name to put with a face. Not that she is going to tell *anyone* how she knows what Rose looks like.

No way, no how.
Tim Drake Tim's expression softens a bit at Phoebe. "With the black and orange mask? Yeah. That's her." Those last two words are //way// soft and with a hint of lilt that Tim absolutely did not intend to slip in there. He thinks for a moment, considering.

"Probably really, really smart NOT to compare her to Deathstroke, even a little, despite the mask." Or, you know anything else. "In fact, just don't bring him up, and pretend after this moment you've never heard of him." She gets touchy. Tim rubs the back of his neck, watching the kitten. "So, uh. Bart, could you... grab whatever else the kitten is gonna need..." he pauses. "Wait, you already did, and put it upstairs, didn't you?" His tone is flat and unsurprised.
Laura Kinney Laura nods to Tim, "I will be aware of her, should we meet," the mutant-girl acknowledges agreeably.

And, since Cassie asked, even indirectly - Laura seems more attuned to combat-related questions and inclinations than anything to do with social mores or social interactions. To that end, there is a rather distinct sound - one Tim has heard before.

*SNIKT*

Two metallic blades literally pop out of the back of Laura's hands, looking sharpened, pointed, and cruel. She explains to Cassie, "My claws are of adamntium; they can shear through most hard objects and other metals with little difficulty. I can use them to either stab, slice, defend, climb, among other aspects into either movement or combat scenarios. They are highly effective."

She looks to Tim. "I am aware of Deathstoke," she mentions. "Only because The Facility wanted me to avoid run-ins with him when I was still operating for him."

The dual hand-claws retreat back, neatly, into her wrist as if they never were.
Cassie Sandsmark "I don't know how -you- sit through them, when I get as bored as I do," Cassie offers back at Bart, while watching him and their new best friend play for a few moments with a fond look. It is just too adorable. And Tim's reassurance... well, she is just FULL of gratitude and for once. "Great! I knew you'd be able to help. You're just the best when it comes to that kind of stuff!" Yes, NOW, she is wholly full of praise for their brave leader. Because let's be real, whatever the demigoddess stuff entails, there's no magical super smarts to rely on. School is work, and it's -way- less fun than superheroing.

Frankly she had issues focusing even before she was a superhero. Soo.... convenient excuse more than anything, really. Lalala.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled internal weaponry review: "Woah, you weren't kidding." She doesn't seem disturbed or bothered, though, and steps nearer to get a bit of a better look. "Yeah I can imagine they're pretty flexible, beyond just immediate use as weaponry. And really strong too? A lot of Amazon weaponry is magical, god-forged, whatever, so... yeah, I can work with this." She even sounds a little eager!
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and says "I got a couple of those autoscooping litterboxes, you may want to hook them up to some WDR's and I was wondering do you want one on each floor, or just the chill levels?" He asks picking up the kitten, and says "He is so cuta, and listen to him purr." He and the kitten are next to Robin so he can hear the purr, the kitten does not seem bothered by the super speed move to beside Robin.
Tim Drake Tim eyes the fuzzy orange murderhobo in Bart's hands. "It is purring. Yes." His tone is flat. "Probably best to leave the kitten on the top two floors. I really don't want animals having access to the labs. I can only imagine the chaos." He frowns. "Or accidentally getting crushed in the gym or in Fabrication. Honestly... yeah. Upstairs only."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe has been quietly sitting in her chair, contemplating items as she looks around to the group, and then she tilts her head back a moment.

"This might seem like a dumb question... but seeing as I'm not age of majority yet -- do I have to get my mom to sign off on any paperwork before I'm associated with the place?" she smiles embarrassedly, rubbing the back of her neck. "I didn't need her to sign off on any of the training at the Embassy, but I got Social Studies credits for my volunteer work there through school." she admits, with the realization that she might be the youngest one in the room.
Tim Drake Tim blinks at Phoebe. "Phew. That..." he shrugs uncomfortably. "I mean... there's not really paperwork. Like Cassie said, we're not the Titans, or the Justice League. Pretty much we're working below the radar." He gives her a slight grin. "Besides, I've been doing this since I was 15. And nope, I did NOT get a permission slip signed."
Laura Kinney Laura seems satisfied with Cassie's assessment, and her reactions. She agrees, "I will look forward to see what training we can provide to each other. Additional combat techniques will only assist both of us in becoming more effective in eliminating our opposition quickly."

She glances to Phoebe, but as she has no parentage or understanding of such rules or laws, she doesn't speak to it. Instead, she walks over to Bart, Tim, and the kitten. She squints at the kitten, then pets it once, twice, as if she'd never pet an animal before - it might remind anyone of the first time a young child might be petting an animal - only without the hesitation or trepidation of what the animal's reaction might be.

Matter-of-factly, she declares, "It is soft."
M'gann M'orzz There is a bit of a giggle as the orange kitten just hangs there, with Tim trying valiantly to resist its charms. M'gann drifts over, holding out a hand to take the furry one from Bart, if allowed. In the meantime, she floats in place (yes, floats) as she regards the group in turn, before smiling to Phoebe. "I think, if I am reading Tim correctly, that it wouldn't be necessary. It does sort of defeats the purpose of being a secret team if your mom has to give permission." Honestly, M'gann wasn't reading the room, not after the Cassandra incident, so having Tim confirm results in M'gann breathing a sigh of relief.

Then, it is back to the group at large. "Well...I am not really sure what training I can really provide. I mean, maybe in mental shielding...and what not to think when someone is trying to peek inside. Though...some of you are already pretty good at that." A beat. "But yeah, really...not sure what I could teach you. Though looking forward to being taught!"
Bart Allen Bart Allen will look over to Phoebe, and says "If they try to make you stay with Max Mercury, he is a pain but he is a good teacher." He does let Laura pet the kitten and then hands it off to M'gann. "Yea he looks like he has been taken care of, and will be a good mascot." He grins over to Tim. "And don't tell Max, I said he was a good teacher it would go to his head." He grins a bit and realizes everyone has their masks off, will take his off, and those that don't know him may realize he does have a distinctive feature, his eyes are yellow.
Phoebe Beacon     "Ah... who? I don't think there's someone named that at the highschool, Bart. I go to a local Gotham school -- not the Uni." she replies, and she gives of a laugh. "Luckily, I live close to here, in case I'm needed for emergencies and what not. But..." she holds out her hand, and with a shimmer, her light staff appears, glowing white.

"I know a couple of tricks, other than healing." she explains. "I'm trained in Aikido, since it's easier for me to throw opponents and exhaust them rather than actually harm them. I have... an aura that I can't turn off. So if you're near me and you're feeling good, it's not that I'm nice or anything--" she is, and she's blushing as she explains "... it's the aura."
Cassie Sandsmark "Yeah, Pheebs, the thing with permission from my mom, that's kind of... a special case. She's been involved in my heroing from the very beginning and it's always been part of the deal." While Cassie doesn't exactly spell out just how literal that 'beginning' really is, anyone following the conversation might be able to put the dots together. She's called herself a demigodess, but surely no one has heard of any churches or temples dedicated to Helena Sandsmark.

"Legally, uh, I don't know how legal any of this stuff is. Even the big groups kind of get into arguments with the government sometimes, fights over jurisdiction, authority, damages..." Big old shrug on that last one. 'Damages.' Ha! She's working toward her Young Miss Property Destruction title.

There's a little beep, and she pulls out her phone. Hard to tell if this is real life or other heroics or what. Maybe mom is checking up on her! "Sorry, I gotta fly. X, I'll schedule with something soon." Before she zips off, she makes sure to swoop over toward their new furry friend for a goodbye tickle-rub before turning and zooming off toward one of the complicated exits.
Laura Kinney Laura looks quizically at Phoebe, the light - and her explination of the aura. Still, she nods with acceptance of this information provided. She watches as Cassie leaves, then reaches out to pet the kitten twice more, exactly before stepping away.

She looks to Tim, then, telling him, "You would have done better to tell me that you had taken martial arts classes at instruction of your parents for extra-cirricular activities after school. Your abilties, especially your capability with innovation of weaponry, was far above even 'advanced' self-defense classes."

She looks around to the others, "But this is a capable group." And, she nods, satisfactorially to herself. "I should tell you that as I am a resident of Xavier's, there are times where I cannot always come to assist. But, I will do my best to be available whenever you need it. I would also like to visit Gotham. You may take me to dinner at a place of your choosing there when I come to visit, for our second date."
Tim Drake Tim blinks rapidly. "Wh-what?" He tilts his head, confused at Laura. Oh. Shit. "Wait, that's..." Tim's realization that there is more than one girl who considers food and beating up goons to be a date activity is dawning rapidly and it's incredibly awkward. "I'm with... there's.. its..."
M'gann M'orzz The kitten is entertained. And...M'gann is also entertained as well. The green fingers reach over to pet the kitten, even sliding in to rub the tummy, falling for Mitten's tummy trap. The claws come out as he scratches...but it doesn't seem to hurt the girl. It seems she was well prepared for the trap...

There is a blink of surprise when Laura mentions 'date'. It is proof that she wasn't listening to thoughts...but now M'gann is fully aware of what is going on now. "Date?" Those red eyes of hers wheel around to focus on Tim. "Is this some sort of initiation ritual? All the girls need to go on a date with you or something?"

As Tim stammers towards Laura's comment, the truth of it comes out. Poor Fearless Leader. The embarrassment is felt...and that grin of M'gann's twists into a playful smirk.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe purses her lips quietly as Laura mentions a second date with Tim, and her eyebrows draw up at the date. She opens her mouth a moment, thinks better, then closes it.

And then M'gann follows up on it, and she fels her cheeks and ears darken a moment before she puts her chin on her fist, and looks at Tim with a look of appraising amusement.

    "Is that how it works?"
Bart Allen Bart Allen blinks and looks over. M'gann may get a flash of Bart's thoughts. He imagines Rose on one side, and Laura on the other with Tim cut in half between them each holding a hand and moving off with their half. "Um Rob... you ok?" He asks the other maybe about the stammer, maybe wondering if his friend is going to live to lead the team.
Tim Drake Tim looks mortified. "No-- it's not-- I wouldn't-- this is..." He takes a moment, pausing, taking a deep breath. "Ah. I think there's some confusion, and it's probably at least partly my fault?" He didn't intend to give any kind of those sorts of signals, really, but he can't for certain say he is not somehow to blame here. Plus, Robin's a good guy, and not inclined to toss blame around. "Um, Rose and I are..." he pauses. Actually, what //are// they? "Complicated. But I'm spoken for, at least for now." That's probably a good way to put it. He really didn't want to get shivved in his sleep for claiming any more than that claim on her.
Laura Kinney To Laura's credit, she doesn't react terribly. She reads the signs in Tim's expressions, the change in his heartbeat, his breathing, the subtle nuances. Understands that she, on some level, has misread the situation. She looks to the others, sensing on some level the jovial nature or interest, even if she doesn't quite understand it all.

She nods to Tim, then, sharply. "I misunderstood, then. I was told when a male buys takes you out to dinner it is a date. I would still like to visit Gotham." Recognizing that she, at least in part, has erred she's not going to hold any resentment or ill feelings towards her new 'team leader'.

She also doesn't seem to be too embarassed, it simply is a learning lesson for her. "It appears this is not always the case. I will have to consider this social aspect more."
Phoebe Beacon     "Girl, it's 2020. Sometimes the guy buys, sometimes the girl buys, some times it's two girls or two guys." Phoebe gives a wry grin. "It's not a date unless both parties agree it is, but if you wanna see Gotham sometime, there's a couple of us here who know the city well. There is this awesome tea shop I love near one of the harbors, and on early release days I like to head to Cecelia's and grab myself some vegan-friendly noodle dishes." Phoebe gives a smile, looking to interrupt the whole awkwardness with a little excitement.
M'gann M'orzz "This is better than those sit-coms I watched growing up. So much fun!" M'gann watchs sit-coms? That's an interesting tidbit as M'gann continues to pet Mittens. "You know...where the guy asks the girl...but then asks the other girl...and has to keep both dates, so he runs back and forth, changing his outfit for each one so that the two girls don't find out? Funny to watch....but....never quite works out."
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and says "I don't see why it wouldn't work, I mean, not cool to do but should not be to hard to pull off." Yea for Bart maybe. "There is also a dumpling place in town, that has really good dumplings, but I don't like how they treat their chickens, they need to give them more room to move around."
Tim Drake Tim rubs his temples. "It's all right. But yes, Laura, me or Phoebe would be happy to show you around Gotham. It's a city with a lot of character." He looks at Mittens, and frowns, then looks to Bart. "Not all of us have super speed." Then to M'Gann, "And I'd never do that. Sounds horrible, really... someone's going to get hurt." He sighs a bit. "So, let me give you guys passcodes-- the door won't just open freely next time. You're welcome to drop in whenever, and if you want or need a place to stay, we've got dorms upstairs. You're welcome to pick one. Well, if it doesn't already have a name on the door. I'll do the tour in a bit. We should probably just finish the pizza before Bart does."
