Owner Pose
Peter Parker "I love to swing-a, under the sun-a and the moon-a in the spring-a...I love to swing-a..."

Spider-Man's in a deceptively-good mood today. Caught a guy who stole a bike without damaging anything, stopped a jewelry-store robbery and nary a shot was fired. And he got someone's cat out of a tree with only one scratched suit to show for it.Ah, well, thread was cheap.

He is heading south into Chinatown, wondering idly if he should stop at the Golden Dragon. Mister Yin was a pretty decent guy, and he was hoping his daughter got a good grade on the math test...
Julie Yan     "A man without a pork bun is not a whole man!" a food vendor shouts, trying to get someone to pay for his services. Julie, her own pork bun in hand, happily makes her way down the street. She spies Spider-Man swinging from afar, and grins a little as she tries to see where he's going. Curious, she follows along his path.
Chizue Nakamura     She's actually not even out looking for trouble today, just doing a little cell tower work. A little cell tower work out in broad daylight, in full view of a security camera placed just for her. A security camera that can't see hide nor hair of her, even as she casually exchanges the hardware she didn't let the cell companies find. The stuff she -let- them find pointed to the local Triad crew, because of course it did. Not like she didn't have her claws sunk deep into their entire wireless network.

She chances a glance as Spider-Man goes slinging by, before pinging the spider network from four or five buildings over. Not as if she expected Pete to really have a problem with her information warfare, but he didn't really need to know just how deep she'd dug into NY's entire cellular infrastructure. <<You really should keep a lower profile. I can hear the drug deals moving indoors from here.>>
Peter Parker Spidey's voice is flippant and warm. "C'mon, they could use the cardio!" He does a quadruple-somersault, then continues, "Besides, that means I get to surprise them in the big deal toni-"

And then the door to a warehouse for CHIN LO'S EXPORTS blows off its hinges, black smoke issuing from the new opening.

"Looks like I've been paged, Teach. Makeup test later?"

And with that, he swings towards the warehouse a block away.
Julie Yan     It's a pretty mellow afternoon, and then Chin Lo's explodes. Julie yelps in surprise in between bites of her porkbun. She finishes her bun, before going towards the warehouse in a rush. She takes off in a dead-sprint. Whatever blew up couldn't be anything Chin sold. But what thieves would have access to this kind of firepower?
Chizue Nakamura     <<Pop quiz.>>Comes the retort, before gently moving that service panel back into place. Her gaze already sweeping towards the smoke, theres a slow roll of the shoulders as she ponders just going home early for the first time in ages.

She comes tumbling out of thin air in an explosion of every pixelated color the human eye can perceive, before immediately vanishing into thin air the moment she touches down. Standing in the shadow of a powerline tower, which is more than enough to hide her shadow thankfully. <<Address doesn't come back to any of mine, you know this place?>>
Peter Parker "Legit import/export business, owner's second-gen Chinese..."

And then the guys in the suits and the oni masks come out.
For a moment, Spidey is reminded of the Crazy 88's from that KILL BILL movie he watched with MJ. Suits, whit shirts, black ties, black shoes.
The weapons, however, are guns, knives, swords, and nunchaku are glowing with electric energy, and some odd...VAPOR is issuing from their heads like each has a permanent cloud around them.
It certainly isn't slowing them down as one of them gets into a nearby panel truck and backs it up to the door...
Julie Yan     "What the hell?" Julie mutters under her breath. She sees mobsters with demon masks and glowing weapons, and is reminded of her Hong Kong days. There's no doubt about it, these dudes weren't here for a shopping spree.

She sprints toward the mobsters without hesitation, her fists glowing with fire as she leaps toward one of the masked thugs with a dropkick, joining the melee.
Chizue Nakamura     Oni masks and suits, armed and juiced up with spooky energy? Yeah ok..
she reaches back to pluck that shape charge from her back and just casually whips it over towards the van. It looks like a soup can, which attaches itself to the hood with an audible -thunk-. Then -CRACK- it goes off lancing a needle like superheated copper penetrator through the hood, through the engine, the transmission's flange and a few inches into the pavement before. It's not enough to flip the van or anything, but it blows the windows out neatly and immediately fills the volume inside with thick acrid black smoke.

All that smoke comes pouring over Owari, and well that's enough to glitch her suit for a few moments before she simply lets it default to hyper black. Armored leggins, cute little climbing shoes and that waist length cloak. That origami like polygonal Tanuki mask flares to life in brilliant white, before erupting into more naturalistic browns and black colors. New Mask tech yo.

Slowly her stance widens, as she pulls her swords foreward. Thumbing over that blade with an audible -clack- before reaching across. "I dig the masks, but the look is taken."
Peter Parker The "oni" about to need a trip to the dentist looks to Julie in time to catch the foot with his masked face, cracking the mask and sending him flying backward a good five feet to land on his back. A grunt as he lands is the only sound he makes.

The cargo vehicle suddenly gets a violent form of engine acupuncture, killing the engine and sowing confusion. But the combatants do not curse, or yell as they look around. No scattered conversation from these guys.

Then one of them sees Owari coming in and calls out, <ATTACK!> and points up. And just like that, four oni are rushing her position even as she advances on the speaker. Another oddness. No high shriek, no fear, no uncertainty upon seeing here, merely a direct, decisive order.
Shock and awe are TOTALLY lost on these guys.

Another points a shotgun at Owari, and then he disappears upward, the classic Spider-Man distract-and-collect method he uses to great effect. It is non-lethal, but he is good at removing people from a fight.
Julie Yan     THWACK! Julie likely cracks the mask in half, and she sees a third fighter join the fray in Owari. She must be the ninja that Spider-Man had mentioned. Drawing her scarf, Julie disarms one of the mobsters of his staff, she begins twirling it in a fierce display of martial skill and speed. <Come get me, bitches.> She growls in Mandarin, lashing out at a thug with fierce strikes.

These guys are seasoned combatants, the usual tricks don't intimidate them nearly as much.
Chizue Nakamura     "Fascinating, you boys have some -sand- dont you?"Thats all the Westerns talking, honest. The appreciation is genuine at least, because she never has liked chasing bad guys anywhere. She leans foreward just a fraction and she's off in a blur, and well she gets right down to it. There is no visible draw stroke, a hand clutching a pistol just pops off of the arm it was attached to. Another thug's mask splits in half, screaming as he stumbles away clutching his face. Facial injuries always bleed so much, enough to finally wet that transparent glass sword of Owari's.

It's enough to see the blade as she takes another arm at the elbow, and pauses to shake the blood free with a flourish, staring down one thug directly infront of her with a sword. "Do you know how to use that thing, or you just like standing around with it?"And with another roll of the wrist, right back into the scabbard that blade goes.
Peter Parker The goons do scream when they get hurt, but the screams seem to be a response to pain only.
The Owari looks at her immediate opponent's mask, and realizes she can see the eyes.
That is the next strangeness. The eyes are glassy, unfocused, completely devoid of humanity. Chizue has seen this before, and more than once.
These men might as well have a radio antenna sprouting from the tops of their heads. Because they are gone, and someone else is controlling them.

Another disappears upward even as the others go after Julie and Owari, not reacting to the losses of the others or of the vehicle. Just coming after Julie and Owari like butt-kicking, sword-wielding zombies.
Julie Yan     Julie's eyes widen as Chizue begins chopping bad guys up. She wasn't expecting that at all, but the masked thugs creep her out way more. They don't seem to react like people normally do, more like brainwashed zombies. She starts thwacking thugs right and left with the staff, using the pole to twirl gracefully as she delivers fearsome pivot kicks.
Chizue Nakamura     That bolt of realization strikes hard, because it's uncool to maim dudes who aren't exactly down with it. "Whomever runs these guys, just made my major league list of people who need to die."And with that, she hurtles fourth.

That sword is sidestepped all but casually, before setting a foot on the back of that sword followed by another on the guard. It's enough traction to launch her upwards, and land a knee in the mook's jawline hard enough to lift him off his shoes. She's onto the next one before the swordsman's hit the floor, ducking foreward and twisting to bring down a heel with an audible whip crack and drop guy #2. Another swings his nun-chucks, only to find thin air. She grabs his wrist, and leaps whilst pulling herself towards him. One knee is rammed into his armpit to dislocate the joint, before swinging that other leg up and over to bash the mook in the face. That leaves her hanging off the guy's arm, and well it's more than enough to drag him off balance. Shoulders hit the ground, and she pulls those legs back to launch him into badguy #4. "Play gentle, these guys aren't themselves. Look for cellphones if they've got them."

One hand planted on the floor, she rolls up into a single hand stand. Free hand reaching back to tug free a length of wire with a weight on one side and a sharpened hook on the other. Then slowly she rolls backwards and right back onto her feet without so much as a grunt of effort.
Peter Parker There are three more. One is following up on the last one catching a brain-duster from Julie's staff, one is coming at Owari with a sword glowing with an odd energy, his eyes behind the mask as black and as blank as a shark's eyes.

The one going for Spider-Man has some kind of shotgun, but the end of it has been webbed up. He spots Spidey and raises the shotgun.
Spider-Man sees him and his eyes widen. "NO-"
The goon fires.
Spidey doesn't even THINK, he just acts. Between the time the trigger is pulled and the moment the hammer hits the firing pin, a glob of webbing hits the gap between them. The pin hits with a dull THUNK, with enough power to hit the pin but not hard enough to ignite the primer, keeping the shotgun from exploding next to the oni's head.
Julie Yan     Julie has to admit, that armbar was professionally done. Owari's words are heeded, as the martial artist clonks her dancing partner one last time. She approaches his prone body, kneeling over before removing the mask. Spidey seems to have the shotgun guy in hand, and she examines the prone thug. "Who do you think these guys were working for? Not often you get dudes with glowing weapons in this amount." She muses, before examining her stolen staff. "I can feel the chi radiating through this thing...it feels corrupted."
Chizue Nakamura     That weighted ball on the end of that wire starts moving in a hurry, whipped around on a short length before she half turns and lets that thing have some leash to really build up speed. She rolls it over her shoulder, hooks it on the crook of her elbow and bends foreward to get it wound round her extended ankle. A neat little foreward flip is all it takes to send that weighted ball down past the swords's forearm and past his hip. A whip of the wrist, and that length of wire snaps taut just as his legs get tangled in the weighted end. It's enough to bind his forearm to his knee, and a stiff yank is all it takes from there to send the poor guy to the ground in a pile.
Owari gives a sigh, casually reaching down to pluck the mook's mask free before giving him a calculated kick to the noodle bucket. "The Oni masks are a nice touch, but I'm supposed to be the only one in town who rocks a festival mask."Yeah everyone assumes she's wearing some sort've Noh theatre mask but, anyway. She peers after Julie for a moment, fixing her with those digital pinpricks of dull red light before nodding. "I'm Owari by the way, nice moves. Glad to see I'm not the only girl who can dance around here, right? Everyone just goes MMA on everything these days, no style."
Peter Parker The unmasked mook is looking up at Owari without the anger, distaste, or hate usually reserved for her. His face is placid and blank, and that is unsettling.
Spider-Man webs up the guy with the shotgun, then drops down to land near Julie and Owari. He looks at the unconscious one, who is no longer giving off that strange cloud of dark mist around his head.
Julie Yan     Julie grins a little at the kuonichi, "Julie, I go by Firehawk too. Nice to meet you too, you've got some moves on you. Must be Spidey's Ninja friend he mentioned." She winks to the wall-crawler. She scratches her head as she observes the blank faced guy. "...man, this is creeping me out. WHat do you guys think they were here for?"
Chizue Nakamura     "I just crippled three men who had no say in the matter."She offers cooly, slowly fixing her gaze on that mask and rolling it around to make sure theres no hoodoo kanji scribbled on the back. "I owe them a debt now, to stop the man who put this all in motion."She sets that mask carefully aside, before moving to start tossing guys in search of cellphones.
"What were they even doing, what's in the boxes?"And a pause as she carefully nudges that energy covered sword aside for a closer inspection on the hyperspectral. "And if you tell me it's wasabi root, I'm just warning you ahead of time. I'll scream and stomp my feet and have myself a proper fit."
Peter Parker Spider-Man frowns, then says, "Firehawk, there's a cop shop a block down. Could you head over there and let them know? Ask them to keep it off the radio for now."

As Firehawk moves off at a good clip, Spider-Man goes to the nearest crate and opens it, no crowbar needed. One pull, a thin metal shriek later, and the top is off.
As Spider-Man looks in, Owari looks at the sword. Some kind of dark energy, a force that suggests something...unspeakable. A void, like being out in deep space.
Spidey reaches in and pulls out a Chinese-made AK-47. One of the better-made ones.

"I...DOUBT this is wasabi root."
Chizue Nakamura     "A Polytech legend."She returns instantly, because ok she doesn't know her chinese AK's -that- well but her helmet does. "Well that means he isn't a real Oni, never met one who liked guns very much. They're usually more concerned with gold and Wasabi root."And well she returns her attention to the sword, letting her helmet dig in vain for anything helpful. "No energy signature. Hyperspectral tells me this sword isn't here, at all. Thermals have nothing, radio frequency imaging confirms it has mass and it does interact but..."Theres a shake of the head.
"This doesn't ring any bells in the Haga or JSA databases, nor my own. So whomever this guy is, he hasn't been seen in Japan. Japanese American maybe, or an anime nerd?"Casually whipping out that short sword to roll the blade over to try and get a better look, trying to figure out if it was a regular sword imbued with god knows what or something even more exotic. "You have any access with the SHIELD or Avengers networks?"
Peter Parker Spider-Man shakes his head. "I...have someone I could call, but she's out...fighting Nazis right now. It's a long story. I can reach out to her when she gets back from wherever she is...WHENever she is." He looks to the warehouse. "That's why I wanted this off the radio. I want the cops here before anyone can come here and...SANITIZE this place."
Chizue Nakamura     "He only did it to the sword and the nunchucks, maybe the mask."SHe offers casually, before reaching back to produce a small roll of what looks like tinfoil. A bit of futzing and she unrolls the thing into a bag, big enough for a sword. "Come over here and your hand on the back of my neck, if grabbing this thing turns me? Snap my neck near the bottom with your thumb, count the bones with your thumb down from the base of the helmet. Just push on the C4 firmly, it'll be very unfun but it won't be enough to kill me. Otherwise if I run wild, you would never be able to stop me in time."
"You remember the name of my old partner right, just get ahold of her and let her know what happened. It sounds scarier than it really is."
Peter Parker Spider-Man nods, but doesn't like the implications. He moves carefully into position, frowning as he listens.

Push on the C4? Jeez LOUISE.

"Okay...I've got you. Just...be careful, all right?"
Chizue Nakamura     "Careful is what heroes should be, I'm a Ninja."With that she reaches out and delicately plucks that sword free, braced for..yeah ok nothing happens. "It's fine."She rolls that sword too and fro in her grasp for a moment "Decent quality sword, shows up as nothing special on the hyper spectral."She rolls the thing edge up for a visual inspection before nodding. "I can't see anything special, but there might be some sort've phase change on the molecular level?"Into that bag it goes, and once she seals the end up it all gives a puff of white smoke before flashing tight around the sword. A process she repeats with the mask, before casting about for any cellphones.

"You need to relax Spider-Man, It would have been a fine death if things went wrong. Hell my parents would have thanked you, better than me going nuts and bringing dishonor to the clan."
Peter Parker Spider-Man looks at Owari for a moment.

Sure, it's a cultural thing. It shouldn't bother him as much as it did.
But the image of his Uncle dying five feet from the front door...

"I've...seen someone die in front of me. There was nothing fine about it. So...let's agree to disagree on this?"
He looked around. The webbed ones that were awake still had that head cloud. The unconscious ones...the clouds were either gone or going. "Well, knocking them out seems to do the job on them. When they wake up, maybe they'll be able to provide more answers for the NYPD."
Chizue Nakamura     "And I'm a vicious killer, and I only -look- human. You should see my blood work."As if she even believes that would change anything in present company. She offers Spider-man the freshly bagged mask, because well of course she'd want to take the sword. "If they expected me to survive any of this, you really think I'd have come to America alone?"

Slowly she rises with a roll of the shoulders, before slowly moving to pluck each mask free from the downed badguys and give each a careful study. Trying to discern if they were random grab bags, or theres a theme at work.
Julie Yan     Julie begins to rummage through stuff, policing weaponry as she dismantles guns. "Maybe an arms raid? At least these dudes are taken care of for the cops." She says. When Chizue explains about the explosive thing, she just looks and nods grimly in understanding. "Understood. Better to die with your own faculties than under someone else's control." She says, before studying through some of the loot taken with Owari.
Peter Parker Spider-Man reaches into his backpack and pulls out a plastic ziplock bag from a pouch. "These look like Chinese opera masks. I'll give them a little trip through the mass spec, see what comes up."

One police cruiser rolls up, followed by an unmarked car. The rear door opens and a tall woman in a no-nonsense blouse, slacks and boots steps out, walking torwards the trio.
"And that would be Jean DeWolff. She's actually pretty cool, Owari." Spidey offered helpfully in a quiet voice.
Julie Yan     Uh oh, the cops.

Julie is about to make a run for it before Spidey speaks up for DeWolff. "If you say so." She says, trying not to make any sudden movements. "You got friends on the force then, Spider?"
Chizue Nakamura     Cops back in Tokyo would never think to approach so casually, not even waiting to be called over. It shouldn't irritate her but it does never the less, her gaze tightens subtly behind that mask. Slowly she half turns, letting one hand drop to her daisho as she holds the bagged sword in the other.

"Officers, how nice to see you."She lies, but she's a ninja so thats to be expected. Content for the moment to let Peter take the lead here, she didn't want to bolt and leave Julie and Peter holding the bag afterall.
Peter Parker DeWolff stops in front of the trio and sighs. "I was having a NICE dinner at Gorden Ramsey's new restaurant. This had better be good, Spider-Man."
Spidey points to the building, then the goons, then the crate of Chinese-made Russian assault rifles.
Jean tilts her head. "Hunh. This place wasn't on our radar." She looks to the other two. "And these are..."
Spidey grins. "Cyber-Ninja and Firehawk. This is Lieutenant Jean DeWolff of the NYPD, Major Crimes division."
"CAPTAIN, Webhead. Promoted last month. You would know if you answered your phone more often."
Spider-Man looked chastened. "Yes. Sorry, captain."
Jean glanced at the goons. "Great. They're called 'Inner Demons,' Webhead. They work for a crime boss out of Chinatown. Calls himself 'Mister Negative.' His Inner Demons are normal thugs, but he ensures loyalty through mind control. So far, it's worked. No one's been able to pin anything on him, because the thugs are effectively dim-capped."
Julie Yan     "That explains why they were so unified. And quiet, too. You could cut them up and they'd barely react." Firehawk says, looking awfully out of place in a hoodie and cargo pants. She keeps a distance, and nudges aside a weapon before kicking it up to catch in hand. "THey were powering these weapons with some kind of chi, it felt wrong just being near these guys." She offers.
Chizue Nakamura     "Where in Chinatown might one find this 'Mister negative', Captain DeWolff?"Is she just, yep. "You're refreshingly well informed, I approve."And with that she offers the hilt of that bagged sword over towards DeWolff. "If he's triad then I'm shocked they haven't delt with him themselves, it suggests a particularly dangerous political situation. If the Triads unite behind this fellow, you're going to have more problems than the White Tigers and the Shrimp boys."
Peter Parker Jean GROANS. "Webhead, have you talked to your friends about PROPER police forensics?"
"Not yet, Captain DeWolff."
Jean frowned, then looked at Julie. "Just because I'm giving you two a pass because he's vouching for you doesn't change the fact that you probably shouldn't pick up evidence at a crime scene. I'm assuming you're not going to want to have to worry about me fingerprinting you for elimination, so just...wipe that one clean and leave it there?"
Jean sighs heavily, then looks to Owari. "Yeah, about that...he's not WITH the Triads. He's pushing THEM out, too. He's already taken over the Shrimp Boys. And when I mean taken over, I mean TAKING OVER. I think he wants to be the first Chinese Godfather of Chinatown."
"YIKES." Spider-Man winces.
"Yeah, yikes. Look, I can explain away ONE mask or sword missing, so the three of you should scram. If you find out anything..."
"I'll verify it...and then send you the data."
"Right as Eversharp." She pauses, then looks at the trio.

"Why are you three still here?"
Julie Yan     "Oops." Julie says sourly, before getting out a cloth and wiping the grip clean and tossing it aside. She does admit, she needs better gloves, and a new costume really. Something to ask the birds about. "I guess that's our cue to bail. Peace, guys. Let's do this some other time." She blows Chizue and Spidey a kiss, before she takes off to let the CSI teams do their thing. That staff is definitely gonna have her fingerprints all over it.
Chizue Nakamura     It doesn't take long, ten seconds maybe? Running back the timecode with the cell networks she's ripped, and then it's fairly easy to pinpoint the Captain's phone on the network. With that she takes a single step back, from the light into the shadow. Slowly her outline gets fuzzy and soon all that's left of her is that mask, until that too dims and she's gone. "Be seeing you, Captain."And well...Ninja vanish. She has a network to rip apart of course.
Peter Parker Jean nods, then eyes Spider-Man.
"Right! Going! Skedaddling as we speak!"

Spidey quickly fires a webline and slingshots himself up and out.

Jean DeWolff shakes her head sadly. God, they could be HEADACHES, these hero-types.
She looked to the warehouse, and smiled slightly. If this company was smuggling guns and doing it under the noses of the NYPD and Homeland Security.
"Not bad, you three..." she says with a quiet smirk.
