Bane What is bent can be broken and such is the destiny of some of the less savory individuals that regularly do business at the Dixon Docks of Gotham. A cell of the Russian mob has arrived by cargo ship carrying a fresh shipment of chemicals and processed drugs from parts unknown. The massive vessel has seen better days, a rusting hulk that happens to be seaworthy.

A parade of vans and trucks proceed down the length of a pier and turn to  drive up a ramp into the vessel itself. The lack of operation of the shipping crane overhead only highlights that this is not the usual exchange of goods.

Once the caravan has come to a halt, prospective buyers emerge from the passenger side of the vehicles. They are a diverse lot who side each other with suspicion and irritation. The representation is a broad coalition from Europe and Asia.

A large man with a shaved head wearing a suit sits at a folding table. Ledgers and suitcases stand by to support the business that is at hand. As the buyers gather around, he offers in a deep voice and Russian accent. "Greetings my friends. I am glad you have arrived. We have many goods to bid and barter upon this evening. I trust noone is needlessly armed?"

The question is responded to by a variety of chuckles, especially by the men who bear sub-machine guns handing from shoulder straps. The audience is armed to the teeth. Peace is maintained by the promise of mutually assured destruction, as the Russian hosts have sentries and guards of their own.

After the laughter dies down, the Russian host adjusts his tie. "Let us begin."
Julie Yan     Hard to be sneaky with a silky red qipao, but Julie will have to make it work. She hopes her domino mask works just as well as it does with Robin, too. Sneaking along the containers, she's been spying on behalf of the Birds of Prey. Every so often, a guard begins to get a little too curious. At one point, she strikes, using her scarf to pull a guy into the shadows. He's unconscious, really!

Stowing the goon someplace hidden, Julie becomes Firehawk, and starts to climb amid the containers for cover, trying to find a good perch so she can see what's going on here.
Alexis Carr     Alexis Carr is not from Gotham, has really no business in Gotham, but has gotten rather spetacularly lost trying to find a shop in Bludhaven, so when she comes upon the grouping of strange, unmarked vans and various and sundry guys with machine guns, she purses her lips quietly, and creeps up, using one of the vans for cover.

She looks like a normal teen, jeans T-shirt, high end sneakers and a light leather jacket. Nothing too out of the ordinary even for Gotham. Her dark hair was plaitedand tucked into a bun. Her dark eyes were closed as she listened in.
Brian Braddock Miles away at the cliffside estate, recently purchased by Brian Braddock, a black cell phone lights up on an end table in the parlor. Next to the device is a bottle of scotch and a half filled rink with two large ice cubes in it.

"Go ahead," says the giant man, wearing grey slacks and a black turtleneck as he repositions slightly.

"Affirmative."

The cell phone makes a slight tap as it is replaced and Brian Braddock gets to his feet. The bottle and glass are left behind.
Bane The intruders are undetected. A goon sleeps soundly, sequestered away by Julie Yan. Later, she might remark on how she may have saved his life.

A large crate is rolled out from a cargo container. The host offerings a knowing grin and gestures toward it while gazing toward his clientele. "My friends... let us not postpone the main event. No doubt, this is why many of you are here."

He coughs to clear his voice, "I present to you.. a very rare crate containing ten liters of... Venom." The crate is opened by crowbar, and an attending guard reaches in to lift a metal cylinder raising it overhead in display.

There is a collective gasp from the assembled. A older Chinese man glares for a moment at the host, "So anxious to empty our pockets? This best be true venom." Another man of South American descent nods in agreement, "If this is a trick, there will be blood."

The host gestures with a hand to calm everyone one down, "Please. You would not be here if you did not trust my reputation. Shall we begin the bidding at one million, hmm?"
Alexis Carr     Her eyes narrowed -- Venom? Didn't precisely sound like something you wanted to have on the streets, and if it was going to be in Gotham, it might make it to NYC, and from there? Who knows?

Although, she didn't have one million in her back pocket, so bidding on it was a bit out of her league at just this moment.

... didn't those bat-people have an alert button or something? Gotham PD was known to be useless.

So, Alexis waits, hunkered down behind the van, but she did feel her palms getting a bit heated. It was going to be rough.
Julie Yan     Julie narrows her eyes. She recognizes a few of goons, Triads outta Hong Kong. This location wasn't chosen by accident, it was neutral ground. The product just solidifies it for her. There's no point in waiting for the cops to magically grow a spine, she was going to have to jump in at some point. For now, she begins to thin out the herd, swiftly moving from point to point as she disarms and KOs thugs.
Brian Braddock The Gotham skyline looks like a dark oil painting off in the distance. Try as he might, Brian is still having issues getting used to these new surroundings. A week of classes has helped, but that sort of thing will take a while. Gotham is very different than London.

Once he gets to the shipment in question, Brian--now dressed as his alter-ego, Captain Britain, begins to slowly drop out of the sky. All the while, he takes in the information below him to try an ascertain who the powers that be are, and more importantly, where they are. The sentry of armed goons makes that easier.

Eventually he lands softly, right outside the front door. The tall hero smiles at the guard in front of him. "Evening, squire."

He reaches for the sub machine gun.
Bane A bidding war commences with the host mediating. The tensions grow high, as the proposed figure climbs. Greed, anticipation, and pride wage within the minds of the collected. The host grins in triumph, certain that his fortune is assured. These proceedings mask the otherwise unmistakable sound of a helicopter in flight, drawing nearer as its blades cut through the smog of Gotham and upset the natural progression of waves upon the ocean.

The goon is shocked to be addressed as 'squire', he raises the sub machine gun prepared to pull the trigger, but Brian will already have the weapon in hand.

The disposable thugs oof and slump from the expert strikes of Julie Yan. The herd does indeed begin to thin. Though as she approaches her next advesary, she will notice something significantly different about him. He is outfitted in military body armor and carrying an assault rifle. At his feet, another of the goons is unconscious. Similar figures emerge and begin to cut off Julie's work.

Alexis remains safe in her vantage point and gets the better view of what happens next.

A door leading into the bulkhead shrieks as its hinges are bent. The loud noise pierces the night and shatters the conversation into silence. The impacts of heavy boots rattle the metal deck of the ship.

A very large figure emerges with rippling muscular adorning his torso and thick limbs. A black mask with white face and menacingly red eyes covers his head. The assembled criminals turn their heads in unison, the host's eyes widen in shock.

The man in the mask rests his hands on his hips. Ominously, he announces in a deep voice, his words painted with the flare of a Spanish accent. "I bid your lives."

He approaches the crate, "Return to me what is mine... And some of you may live."
Julie Yan     Julie finds her newest adversary to be a little harder to take out. She goes for the gun first, her hands glowing bright with flame as she melts the barrel and renders the gun useless. Then she grabs it out of the goon's hands while he screams in pain, clocking him with the stock before she breaks the rifle over her knee.

    And then, Julie sees _HIM._

"Oh, <fuck me.>" She mutters, as Julie sees Bane in the flesh. This might get ugly very, very fast.
Alexis Carr     It might get very ugly, very fast. The dark-haired girl in the leather jacket tilts her head, listening, hearing the steady sound of helicopter blades -- and she shifts about, keeping down as the door get sripped off its hinges with a metallic groan. Her eyes go wide at some sort of luchador? A luchador crashing a drug auction?

... she sets her expression to one of grim realization -- and she remains hanging back a little bit.

After all, the 'famous mutant-hating Caradenza family' had but this one daughter, and she didn't feel like being used for collateral today!!
Brian Braddock Casually, Captain Britain pulls the gun up to chest level. Grabbing it from both sides he bends the gun in half until the metal gives way and tears into two!

A split second later, the Captain throws a fist directly into his opponent's face before opening the front door and striding inside.
Bane The militia member goes down from the efforts of Julie, but two of his compatriots emerge nearby. Better trained, more aware of their squad. Their lost ally has not gone unnoticed. They raise barrels, and the rapport of gunfire echoes over the deck.

The tension breaks, and the fight begins. The various bodyguards of the clients raise submachine guns to take aim on Bane, but his forces occupy the higher ground. They are mowed down by an onslaught of gunfire, which ricochets off the deck.

Elsewhere on the ship, the Captain dispatches one of the Russians and is greeted by two of the militia. They call out into their radios, announcing the curiously dressed intruder as they open fire with their assault rifles.

Despite the lead that rains forth through the Gotham sky, Bane calmly approaches the one guard who holds a canister of venom. He deftly reaches forward and wraps a large hand around his rightful property and plucks it from the other man's grasp. "Tonight, you are the fortunate one, chico. Watch and tell others. Tell them what happens when they try to take from Bane what is rightfully his." He pats the man's cheek and then approaches the host.

There's a moment of contemplation, his red eyes of his mask look between the host and the cylinder. The host screams as his skull is replaced by the cylinder in a momentary spray of gore.

Overhead, the helicopter comes into view, piloted by the ever-faithful Trogg. It begins to hover, the burly pilot keeping an eye on the deck as a set of cables begin to lower toward a waiting Bane, who seems apathetic of the other events occuring on the ship.
Julie Yan     "Guess we're through being subtle." Julie mutters to herself. She sees a pair of goons approach, and she responds by tossing chi blasts at them, mostly aiming to discombobulate them so she can get in close. Which she does, as she lunges for one of the soldiers. Burning his AK, Julie delivers a chop that splits the weapon in half before she begins to hammer on him with a flurry of punches, finishing him off with a kick to send him sidelong.

She then uses her scarf like a whip, snaring the other goon's gun by the magazine and ripping the weapon free. Then, she strikes with a running knee, and a chop to the collar to finish the thug off.
Alexis Carr     There's a feminine scream as the bullets rain down. Alexis dives under the van she was hiding behind, and brings her hands up over her head, breathing out in unsteady breaths until her fear instinct kicks on, and the temperature around her leaps. Fire springs out from beneath the van, and once ithits and overheats the gas tank, the tank explodes in fiery shrapnel storm to add to the chaos as the van tilts back, showing its belly to the bidders and exposing a young woman, with her hands covered in fire and a grim expression!
Brian Braddock The bullets pelt Captain Britain as the aim of the two militia men's aim is true. The bullets hit with a ping and flatten themselves in a yellow flash before hitting the ground, making a sound not like a spinning coin.

A split second later, Brian is on them, grabbing them each by the front and doing his best to slam them together.

The loud explosion immediately takes Brian's interest. Rather than pursue inside, he takes a look back outside the door to see if he can get more information.
Bane The trained soldiers side-step to try and avoid the chi blasts giving Julie her opening. Even as his assault rifle is split in two, the soldier is drawing a very nasty combat knife. There are a few close calls, but Julie's superior martial skills send him tumbling across the deck.

The second goon draws a pistol as his assault rifle is ripped free. He attempts to pop off a shot, but the knee stuns him, and the chop knocks him unconscious.

The exploding van seems to gain Bane's interest, his masked head turning toward the young woman wreathed in flame. The warlord's reaction betrays one of his greatest strengths. He demonstrates no fear. He is cool and collected as he quickly attached cable hooks to the crate of venom. He wraps a thick forearm around one of the same cables, and the helicopter abruptly begins to ascend into the night sky.

Plucking a few canisters from his belt, the menacing luchador tosses a few orbs of metal down towards the deck, which could only be hand grenades. They clatter and bounce, offering the threat of imminent doom. Something to respond to versus interfering with his exit.

Julie and Brian will both hear radio chatter, which indicates a withdraw. Those who have not already been felled by heroes begin running. One group attempts to confiscate one of the remaining vehicles for themselves. Others attach lines to ship rails and begin repelling into the water.

Brian will see a more weasely man run by clutching an armful of papers, his eyes wide in panic as he prays for help from God in Russian. Panicking and unaware of his surroundings, he'll run right into the Captain, sending a showering of papers everywhere. He'll scream, "Don't hurt me! I'm just an accountant!"
Alexis Carr     It appears that everyone is making their escape! Alexis hitches a breath, and then with a burst of fire from her legs she's sent awkwardly airborne, and out of the bulkhead doors in an effort to get away from the dropped grenade. She's fearful, and it doesn't help her aim well -- she goves overboard, and into the harbor!
Julie Yan     Julie sees Bane's already got what he wants. She produces a phone, and begins taking some photos of the scene before uploading them on the ORACLE app. This is gonna be vital for the other Birds to see. Hopefully Batgirl can get in touch with Batman, see about actually figuring out why someone's selling Venom, especially stealing it from Bane.

Then she chases after the vehicle as it tries to escape, moving fast as possible to intercept the driver. If she's successful, she'll jump onto the car's hood, and punch through the windshield as she shouts, "PULL OVER!"
Brian Braddock Captain Britain looks up to the sky at the helicopter just as he's run into, full-long by the accountant. "I'm not going to hurt you. The justice system will do that."

Life is always about choices. The helicopter or the accountant? "Pick those up," Brians eyes trail back up to the helicopter as he makes his choice. He's going after it. But before he can one of the grenades explodes, sending him and the accountant over a railing and onto another part of the ship.

By the time the dust settles, Brian pulls himself up revealing the small accountant underneath.

"Stay here."

Airborne now, Captain Britain is in pursuit of Bane and the helicopter
Bane The grenades explode on the deck moments after Alexis's faithful leap into the sea. As she plummets, the air above superheats and deadly bits of molten shrapnel zip by. She has avoided the peril, and her silhouette casts upon the surface of the water before she disappears into the water.

The world is full of superheroes these days, and Bane is no fool. Some heroes, particularly vigilantes, he gladly disassembles with his own bare hands. But there are other more powerful beings, and contingencies are required for dealing with these foes. The warning across the radio had not been ignored, Bane has already begun responding.

After ascending the cable hand-over-hand, Bane swings into the open side door of the large transport helicopter. He retrieves something from a nearby weapon's rack. The giant of a man braces and aims the weapon toward Captain Britain as he takes to the sky in pursuit. A rocket leaps forward after a small explosion, a hiss, and a trail of smoke. The bazooka's payload detonates on target, intercepting the hero and sending him hurdling away from the vehicle.

Bane calls out over the loud buffering of the helicopter, "Buenas noches, Bretaña. I appreciate your insistence, but no autostopista today. The helicopter is full."

A series of rapid 'thunks' rapport soon afterwards as an auto-grenade launcher attached to the helicopter fills the sky with counter-measures: More grenades explode, smoke billows, and flares pop. It is chaos for the senses. More to deter any pursuit.

Julie, meanwhile, manages to land on the hood. Instead of pulling over, the driver revs the engine for a moment of brief acceleration, then both passengers dive out of the vehicle for a tuck a roll. They come to their feet quickly, though one limps badly. His compatriot takes his arm over his shoulder and begins trying to escort him to safety. Meanwhile, the wounded man unclips a flashbang from his utility webbing and lobs it in the direction both vehicle and Julie ended heading. Desperate measures for an escape, but the two would likely not get far.
Julie Yan     Julie lands gracefully like a predatory feline, and she doesn't forget the goons. Producing some zip-ties, she's stopped only briefly by the flashbang, her sight returning as she begins to run after them. One of the goons is ensnared by her scarf, and Julie pulls him toward her until he's within zip-tying range.

"Your pal's gonna have to wait." She hisses, and she binds the goon's wrists.
Brian Braddock There's a bright explosion that lights up the sky as Captain Britain is hit by Bane's attack. His forcefields hold, but the impact knocks him from consciousness.

The hero begins spinning uncontrollably as he plummets. Gaining speed, he falls the complete distance only to drop unceremoniously into the salty black water below.
