Viola Fiore Viola Fiore was supposed to meet friends for a day at Coney Island today. Those plans fell through, but not until Viola was already across town and nearing the entrance to the famous entertainment area.

The Italian girl in her early twenties looks at her phone and lets out a sigh then taps out a reply. "Tell the truth, it's a guy. You're ditching me for a guy," she recites quietly aloud as she taps the reply out. The text message is sent off winging through the ether on, its way to Mary Brogada, one of her longtime friends. Mary's father and Viola's work together, in a sense.

"Might as well enjoy it while I'm here," Viola says to herself, heading over along the boardwalk and stopping to buy herself a glass of lemonade. After a moment's thought she adds a bag of warm peanuts to the bill. Armed with snacks and her beverage, the petite young woman moves over onto the pier. Hopping up to sit on a wooden railing with her back to the water. Seagulls start to drift over her way. Hopeful rats of the sky.
Jackie Estacado Jackie is bored; no hits, no bloodshed, no work, so why not go with the ladies be, dressed in a fine suit, his tie is bright red, his suit black as sin. His right hand is holding a cigarette, as he brings it to his lips, exhaling the smoke into the air with a wicked little chuckle, as he sees Viola, his eyes studying her, almost placing her not yet, as he moves forward now moving the with crowd, flicking the cigarette into the water.

He is avoiding the lights trying to stay in the darkness of the pier, leading him to a spot a bench down in the shadows sinking into it, as he snaps his fingers towards a kid taking out 2 twenties, as he motions the kid to come over."Get me two hots dogs and a soda keep the change." With that, he watches that little kid dash off into the pier, as he waits for his food arms on the back of the bench, with a wicked smile."It's good to have the ladies, barely dressed. I love that shit."
Nico Minoru It isn't the ost fancy of set-ups, a simple card table, two folding chair and a small sign that says. "Does Your Future Suck?". Seated in one of the chairs is the young Goth Girl, Nico Minoru, a layout of tarot cards in front of her and a woman across from her staring down at what has been presented before her.

Nico lightly taps a finger on her lips as she studies the cards as well, her dark eyes drifting up to her patron with a crooked smile. "The Death Card. I know what your thinking. It does not mean you are going to die. I mean well you could die...but this card is not predicting it. Like you could get hit by a bus tomorrow, but I did not foresee that."

The woman's eyes go wide in shock and she shakes her head, abruptly standing from the chair, knocking it over. "You are the worst..." She huffs and strides off, leaving Nico sitting alone at the table. She narrows her eyes at the departing woman and calls out. "Hey! You owe me 20 bucks." When it is clear the woman is not coming back, Nico moves to clean up the cards in front of her, turnin gher head and calling out before the woman is out of earshot. "Don't take the bus home!"
Viola Fiore Viola sips the lemonade and sets the cup beside her. She's not quite qualified as barely dressed, though her jeans are snug and the Columbia University long sleeve shirt she's wearing fits her rather nicely. Adding the pair of expensive boots and some killer earrings and the young woman does present a certain sense of style in her appearance.

The peanuts are opened and the first one broken open. The meat of the nut is eaten while Viola looks idly around. Nearby a rollercoaster is running, to screams of delight from the younger customers on it. The Ferris Wheel is starting to do more business. It's still early out on a sunny day, with a nice view of the area from the top even if it's not the nighttime view that draws the most people.

More seagulls drift overhead. "I don't even know if you like peanuts," she says, shelling another and then tossing the rest up into the air. Two different birds get bits of it. "I guess you do. Probably not much you won't eat," she says.

Her eyes drift over to the man in the suit, his clothing standing out a bit, though it might make him seem like he's working there or perhaps is some sort of performer. Speaking of performers, the woman huffing and leaving Nico's table draws Viola's attention over. Her head tilts for a moment, watching the woman go.

"Might as well," Vi says to herself. She hops off the railing and grabs her drink, walking over to the table, much to the chagrin of the seagulls. Vi pulls out money from her pocket, setting a $20 on the table with her finger on it so it doesn't blow away. "Make it an entertaining enough one and I'll cover her $20 too?" Vi offers, pulling out a second such bill.
Jackie Estacado Jackie Estacado watches it all bored indifferent, his hands deep in the pocket of his overcoat, as he watches the kid run up with the dogs and the soda."Good fucking job, kid, now get lost." With that, he reaches for the first, devouring it quickly, as he eats the second now, failing to get a napkin kid long gone, as he pushes upwards.

Downing half the soda, as he walks passed Vi and that Nico, watching them for a moment.

"Scam, always a fucking scam cutie." His voice is moving past; it's not clear who he is calling the scam the one doing the reading or the one offering extra money, as he walks to the side, grabbing the roll of paper towels, using it and then he throws the used one away, as he slinks into the shadows over here.
Nico Minoru As Viola sits down, Nico blinks a few times at the woman. "You're serious? You want a reading? Your money." She picks up the cards and shuffles them a few times, setting them down on the tabe and taps them three times. She then picks them up and deals them out in a cross like pattern. The cards are clearly Gothic in nature, dark colors and images that would make one think they are all negative, but clearly are not.

It is then she hears Jackie's comment and she shoots him a glance. "I do not know what is more offensive, the fact that you are calling me a scam artist or cute." She considers a moment and tilts her head to him. "Cute, calling me cute is definately worse. I may have thrown up in my mouth a bit."

Her eyes drift back to the cards and she exhales, touching the first. "You are a torn soul. Who you really are and have been raised to be is not who you want to be. You have spent your whole life trying to appease others when clesrly you have a different path. You don't know what that path is tho. You are searching for purpose...a reason. A way to make a difference in the world."

She proceeds through the cards, not looking up. "Guilt. You have guilt. Not so much by what you have done, but from what those aorund you have done and you feel associated with. That guilt will pass and soon. You are on the verge of making a big life change, you are just afraid to do it." Another card looked at. "You dabble in music, but more so for yourself. Don't pursue that as a career path, it will not pay the bills."

Her fingers taps another card, and then the last one in the pattern. "Have you been finding knowledge from your family? Answers you were not supposed to find. But I would heed its wisdom."

She looks up and makes eye contact with Viola now. "Do you have any questions?"
Jackie Estacado Jackie Estacado watches now from the shadows with a shake of his head, as he is watching his hand is moving quickly. His eyes stare at the girls, with a wicked little laugh.

Behind them in the shadows a creature is coming, small, fat, with long nimble fingers, as it runs forward slinking, sneaking towards the table hitting it making it fly into the air.

As quickly as it arrives, it slinks back into the shadows now, fading out of reality.

Jackie is watching with a little chuckle, as he lights a fresh marb, using a cheap bic. Taking a long inhale of the cigrette, as he looks right at Nico, his eyes locked on to the girls./
Viola Fiore Viola Fiore doesn't seem to mind the comment from Jackie, just having moved over for the reading as something to entertain her and pass the time. If one guessed perhaps she was trying to do a solid for someone out trying to earn her way with a little busking of the fortunetelling variety, they also might be right.

Whichever though, Viola just smiles gently and watches as Nico manipulates the deck. "Oh, those are beautiful. Very evocatively done," she comments of the gothic-styled cards.

As Vi's fate is slowly unraveled and laid out before her, the young woman grins a few times at first as if impressed that Nico has managed to make the fortune something that applies to her enough Vi can make some connections.

The longer that it goes though, that look of amusement gives way to more. Notes of surprise. Followed by some mild disbelief as if wondering if this is really happening. The ending though causes Viola to lean back in her chair and suck in a breath. "You're really good at this," Viola tells Nico. She bites her lip and then slides the two $20 bills over. After a moment she digs in a pocket and pulls out a third for her. "Do you do this a lot, out here?" she asks.
Nico Minoru Did that table just fly off the ground a bit? The cards scatter slightly as NIco scrambles to catch them all, a quick glance to the /creature/ that may have done so and the laughing Jackie is clearly the cause of the little interruption. She manages a half smile for Viola and slowly rises from the table, making her way over to Jackie and standing right in front of where he is leaning. She waves a hand in front of her face to disperse some of the smoke. "If you find your parlor tricks amusing, perhaps you could make some money off them doing children's birthday parties. Every child wants an imp pinata." However, there is something about Jacking that causes her to pause, her eyes narrowing as if she is trying to figure out what is different about him aside from his little magical display. Yet, she does not make any suggestions.

She hisses once at him and turns to walk back to the table, this time standing beside it with her attention on Viola again, but keeping an eye on Jackie out of the corner of her eye. Her hand slides out to take the offered money. "When I need to eat. I don't like doing it really. Making people think they have a bright future...when more than likely they do not." She reaches a hand out to touch Viola's arm lightly. "I mean not yours. Yours is accurate. I swear. The cards were screaming at me."
Jackie Estacado Jackie Estacado flicks that cigarette down as he Nico is yelling at him, his eyes narrowing now as he gnashes his teeth. His hand slides into his suit, gripping something as she is yelling at him, something about this man is not friendly; he is dangerous as fuck, his eyes watching her for a moment.

But too many people out here, too many eyes, and he is lazy and ain't getting paid for this, as he whispers."Oh, I get paid hurting people, wanna freebie." The tune is whispered harshly into Nico's ear as she is turning to head back to the table, as that man is following now watching Vi.

Jackie is watching her now, as he turns towards Nico with a beam of a smile, as he nods slowly."Good reading, ya got skills girl, ya got a spunk. I like dat; you're on my radar, gal; my name is Jackie Estacado. Some dark night, you will see me, and you might not see anythang ever again in the dark. But, maybe ya wanna say sorry, and it end dat all now."
Viola Fiore Viola was surprised when the table jumped, and might have missed the cause even if Nico saw it. Though as the Asian girl nearly of an age with Vi confronts Jackie, Vi can at least guess he had a role in it even if she missed how it was done.

"No need for anyone to get upset about things," she says, trying to calm the matter down. Her eyes go back to Nico, and there's definitely some curiosity, perhaps a little wonder there after the reading she was given. As Nico comments how much the cards spoke to her, Viola gives a small nod despite herself. "Thank you. I mean, I just figured this would be entertaining. And, I've had friends who did stuff like this on the weekends for extra money," she says, as if that played a role in her coming over and covering the previous woman's unpaid bill.

Vi is about to introduce herself when the menacing words from Jackie are given. "Come on, she's just trying to earn some money for food," Viola says with a small frown. "It was a good time, please let's not do that?"
Nico Minoru Nico reaches out and lightly touches Viola on the back of the hand with an actual smile. "It's okay. I get this alot. You know men trying to intimidate me to make up themseles feel macho and powerful to make up for a small..well you know. I have come to expect it. Expect it, but not accept it." She folds her hand sbehind her back and slowly saunters back over to wear Jackie is, leaning against a railing beside him and casually talking. "Jackie Estado was it? Nico. I have a last name, but you don't need to know it." She raises a hand to tuck a strand of black hair behind her ear. "Word of advice Mr. Estado. Don't threaten what you could not even begin to comprehend. Things in the shadows are much more than they appear. You of all people should know that." She pushes herself off the railing and turns to face him with a half smile. "An apology? I will do you one better." She reaches out and takes the cigareette from his hand, takes a puff from it and thrn tosses it into the water below. "These things will fuckin' kill ya. Your welcome."
Jackie Estacado "Nico." Jackie watches her now as she is coming at him, a look of pleasure rolling along his features, his lips curling slowly into a flirty smile, as his hand is dipped into his pocket, as he hands her a business card."If anyone ever fucks with ya, call me. I'll handle it." His arm is reaching up to brush a stray hair out of Nico's face, as he smiles at her warm, caring, his eyes locked on to hers."I mean, it Nico. You got this badass on ya side; also, I'm not making up for a small dick; I'm making up for a world that kicks in ya fucking teeth."

This close up Nico eyes can notice the two 9mms under his jacket, as his hand brushes along her check softly."Ya aint' cute, not at all, your amazing." His voice a whisper, as he takes out his wallet, taking out 500 dollars in cash, placing it into Nico's hand with a chuckle."Stop basking it's a waste of fucking time, ya need work I need someone smart."
Viola Fiore Viola is watching closely as Nico stands up for herself, but then it seems like things are smoothing themselves out. She lets out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. "Do you tend to work this area most of the time?" Viola asks Nico. "By which I mean, is this where I could find you again? Or maybe I could get your number and sometime if I wanted to do another, could give you a call?" Viola asks.

She glances at the money that Jackie is offering, an approving look given as he seems to be trying to make up for the disturbance. Or maybe he's hitting on her, Viola isn't quite sure, but she makes that offer anyway, trying to help make sure things go smoothly.
Nico Minoru There are a few things that Nico clearly does not like, and one of them is being touched by someone she just met; or being touched in general unless she intiates it. Thus, the tucking of the tray hair and the stroke alongside her cheek is tolerated, but it is clear on her face and tensing that she was holding back making a comment or reacting. However, after the money is placed in her hand, she takes a step back. It is then she puts on her best southern accent, clesrly mocking that of a southern belle and completely contradicting her appearance.

"Why Mr. Eastado. I thank you so very much for offerin' to defend my honor. WHat would a women like myself ever do without someone like you to see it that I am not disparaged." She gives a sweet smile, obvioisly feigned and continues with the accent. "You financial offerin' is truly a blessin'. I shall put it to good use. Perhaps I might buy myself a pink dress for an upcoming soiree."

It is then that the accent disappears and her normal voice comes back. "Perhaps we can talk about work. But if you touch my face again, those guns may not have hands to pull the trigger."

She smiles and flips her ponytail, turning now to Viola with a casual shrug. "Sure, let me right my number down for you." She takes a pen out of her jacket pockett and writes it down on the back of one of the tarot cards, a woman wiht a raven on her shoulder. "There. Call it anytime. I would tell you where I live, but that tends to change..rather frequently."
