Noriko Ashida It's that time of the day.  Since the beginning of the school year, Noriko has been haunting the pool table after classes like it's her job.  Well, after she was kicked from another haunt on campus.

All of the students rush in at once after being let out of classes.  They arrive like a heat wave.  The consoles are the first victims.  One person might need a shower, but with the handful or more students already filling up the rec room and then that one girl's body spray, it's just getting really difficult to find the source and point fingers.

"Are you guys done?  It took you forever to fucking loose.  It was like watching a rat hang on after three cat attacks on a Saturday night."  Noriko walks over to bend down and look in the fridge after she wedges open the door with her foot.  It takes longer.  It doesn't really /work/ per se, but it works!
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie comes walking in, seems he got out of his college classes early or did not have classes today. He is carrying a small wooden box in hand and looks around. Yea he should have known the place would be packed but oh well. He moves to the little bar area where he can grab a stool and sets the box on the counter "Hey grab me a tea while your in there." He asks.
Noriko Ashida Nori's beverage of choice?  Some off brand orange soda.  She leaves it behind on the counter with a soft sigh before ducking back for some kind of tea.  Faced with a multitude of teas in different forms and one cold can of tea, Noriko goes for the shittiest (or best, opinion depending) option.  The can.

The blue haired girl rises up from behind the bar and leans to see around Sam.  She presses her lips together as she comes back even keel and slides the can across, only a few inches from where Sam has the box situated.  "Are you one of those freeloaders that stays here?"  Aren't they all?
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smirks a bit and says "Not quite, I help teach a bit besides just freeloading, and am around for any of the younger students who need someone to talk to. He has other reasons for being around but those two are the two most public. "I'm Sam." He offers and adds "Thanks for the tea."
Noriko Ashida "It's the freeloading that's important," Noriko says in perfect deadpan as if imparting particular insight.  "Teaching.  I'll remember that's the way to extend my stay," she says without a second thought.  "Noriko.  I mostly figure out ways to be the oldest student here.  I'm pretty good at it.  18, only a junior.  I tried to place as a sophomore but they said I was too smart."  Her head cants slightly.  The soda can tab pops, and the soft sprinkled sound of carbonated bubbles bursting inside begins.

"So what's with that box?"  Noriko dips her head as she looks down.  "Also, how does one get the job of...being someone kids can talk to?  Sounds like someone is putting imaginary friends out of business."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "Seniority I was one of the first of the second round of students here." He offers giving her an idea how long he has been here. " He opens his can and takes a sip of his tea, and will then open the box, showing her a few locks, and some metal small tools, and strips of metal.
Noriko Ashida "Shoot me if I'm here that long," Noriko probably should shut her mouth.  Her sip isn't that calculated though.  "I'm guessing it has its perks though."  It's a measure of kindness coming from the wayward little jerk.

A brow arches at the contents, and Noriko steps closer, setting aside her can to grab one of the locks and fiddle with it, turning it in her hands.  Then she glances at the tools.  She brings little bits in closer in front of her as if it were a puzzle.  "Okay but why?"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "I am studying to be a police officer, and figure knowing a bit on how this is done would be a handy skill to have. Can help get into places if got a warrant or what not, or find hints that others have picked the locks before me."
Noriko Ashida "Oh."  A cop.  He's studying to be a cop.  Noriko studies the man studying to be a cop.  Then she looks down at some of the locks.  Some she's seen herself before.  "Handy.  Yeah.  Would have been real handy.  But aren't most locks electronic these days?"

Noriko puts the lock she's been fiddling with back with the others.  "It's way easier to just destroy them..." she murmurs to herself as she peruses the tools.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods and says "True, and Ah could blast through most doors, but it seems a useful skill set, so asked a friend to teach me. Ah am working on it. And the beat Ah am hoping for, will probably be less electronics than other places. Am hoping to work the Bushwick (mutant town) beat.
Noriko Ashida "I wonder how many ways mutants could get through these locks," Noriko says curiously as she rotates one in her hands.  "I heard that's a good place to swipe, but not a good place for 'handling if you can pass for human...."  She looks up and over to the would-be cop.  "I don't do that stuff anymore."

"I bet there's more action patrolling all the mutants.  More interesting routine stops."  Noriko smirks as she absently fiddles with some tumblers before standing back, leaning against the opposite side of the bar.  "I'm just waiting for the mutant only drugs to come out," she says in complete deadpan, the effortlessly bored teen just waiting to see what might stir up from her words.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie says, "Well, Ah am more hoping to be someone who cares about the people there, and lets them realize their are people on their side that work on the police. Too many of the officers working there are resenting it, and people should know people care about them."
Noriko Ashida "Yeah yeah," Noriko brushes it off with a flip of her free hand, "save the world, kiss the babies, just promise me if you have to pull over anything that has more than two legs, I get to hear about it."

"Or domestic disputes between shrimp people.  A good domestic dispute always put me to sleep."  Pensive sip.  "Mm.  How come people talk about sleeping like babies here?  In my limited experience babies are motherfucking /monsters/.  Someone should patrol the nurseries. "
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smirks a bit and says "If it is something I can share, sure, I will let you know about it. But if you pay attention while the babies keep others awake, when they sleep they sleep well, it is the others who have issues around them
Noriko Ashida "Yeah because they screamed their lungs out," Noriko says with a smirk and shake of her head.  "What is it they say?  All tucked out?"  Lame idioms.

"I don't make it a habit of watching babies sleep though, so I wouldn't know."  Noriko frowns a little after a beat as if trying to figure something out.  "I gotta run...but next time I see you, you'll be cracking these things open blindfolded right?"  She says it as if it were as easy as waking up and reading the newspaper.  And just like that, she strolls past Sam to grab her satchel on her way out.

"Don't get shot or anything before I get my shrimp people soap!"  Encouraging words.  At that, Noriko slips away out of sight, not seeming to join up with anyone.
