Noriko Ashida Noriko seems to have appointed herself some sort of keeper.  Who knows why the wile teen does what she does.  She's one moment gregarious and engaged, the next surly and withdrawn like she's rapidly cycling through her moods, and it's been sharply on display since she got back from the last kidnapping.

"Hey.  Come on."  That's all Nori ever seems to say when she shows up with one of her hardened poker faces she's managing.  She's got a beat up cheap ass lime green backpack across her shoulders, thumbs hooked into the straps near her shoulders.

It's another trek out to a more remote part of campus, away from the ever busy pool hot tub that is so convenient.  Noriko keeps a normal pace on the way out to the pool house by the lake.  "I'm not going to drown you or anything," she says dryly and gets into the pool house.  "If you want to get in the hot tub, I got you a bathing suit.  Just standard gym shit," well standard /Xavier's/ gym shit.  "Unfortunately we'll be twins."  Before stepping inside, she stands with the door open, looking back at Emma with eyebrows raised.  "You in?  Might be kind of cold otherwise."  Her backpack is suddenly down in her hands, then back on her back.  A back of gummy bears has replaced it.

The sun is setting now.  Instead of quite waiting for an answer, Nori just walks inside.  "I need to turn it on so it can start heating up."  She moves through to the back doors and reaches for the light for the tub, finger absently flicking something already flicked.  "Huh?"
Julian Keller Julian had the brilliant idea to escape from the stifling confines of stately Xavier Manor on his own. While normally, the young Hellion might have a small posse of cronies that accompany him everywhere, these days he was far more withdrawn and more of a lone wolf. Ever since... Well. He doesn't want to think about that.

That's why he's here. He doesn't want to think about that. But he does. Constantly. He thinks about it every time he feels his palm itch on a hand that's not there. He thinks about it every time some loser kid at the school casts him a look that holds pity in their eyes. He thinks about it when he closes his eyes to sleep. When his mind just wanders out of boredom. He can't ever really NOT think about it.

Well, not without some assistance, anyway.

So there Julian is, soaking in the hot tub all by himself. With a half empty (or half full, but he's a half empty kinda guy) bottle of aged Scotch whiskey. No glass. He seems to be drinking straight from the bottle. Which is confirmed when it takes on a ghastly green glow and rises to hover before his face so that he can take a drink, the bottle obediently tracking his movements as he tips his head back and gulps deep.
Noriko Ashida Noriko peeks outside with a tilt, only getting the very edge of the dim glow that lights up the hot tub space.  "Someone's here."  Stealth is speed, she reminds herself under her breath.  She zips out and around the hot tub, taking in the scene.  Tempted, she thinks of knocking the bottle from Julian's grip.  /Why/ he might be drinking alone in a hot tub by the lake in the middle of winter isn't really the first, or second, or third thing on her mind.  They go so fast.  She doesn't though.  She doesn't even reach out to the bottle.  She loops back to her original spot.  It's a little weird because it kind of looks like a streaming video skipping forward, worse because she's almost in the exact same spot she was before.

"Well now I have to go out.  I can't blackmail him if he doesn't know I know he's drinking underage on campus," Noriko says more to herself so quickly, eyes drifting up disconcertingly smooth but fast where a less speedy person would have snapped their eyes upward without seemingly so much control.  It's quick, but just one of those idiosyncratic differences that pepper the girl's demeanor.

Nori gets dressed in a flash.  Who even knows /where/ she did it.  It's immaterial.  She stoops down to open her backpack and look inside, considering.  Then the door opens and she shouts out, "You better share that booze or you'll regret it!"  Quite a tangent.
Julian Keller Dammit.

Julian lets the bottle lower telekinetically, hovering suspended before his face, which is bearing an expression of naught but the most ill of wills. One plastic, mechanical hand rises to push through his damp black locks, pushing them back from his brow as his bared chest swells with the sharp inhalation of a forthcoming sigh. Why, of all the people, in all the school, must it come down to her? Crystaline blue eyes roll in their sockets so far that he might be able to see inside his own brain.

"What booze?" Julian calls out. "I have positively no idea what it is that you're talking about."

Bottle comes to lips again, and he just takes another swig from it, before setting it back down. "Do you really have nothing better to do than to follow me around and play harass the cripple? I mean seriously. It's not a good look."
Emma Frost     Emma takes her time putting the one piece swimsuit on with a frown as she looks at her collar in the mirror and grumbles at the thing still on. She could take it off, but again, she's trying to earn trust with these people. People that can help her take down Shaw. The White Queen tries to make the swimsuit fit but she's struggling and adjusting as she pulls it on and over and sighs at her lastest misfortune. "Emma... the **** have you gotten yourself into." She says, thinking of reaching out to Janet, who she hasn't heard from, but knows the woman is beyond upset at her.

    Her last friend... gone.

Emma steps in behind the demanding Noriko and consider's patting the electric woman on the shoulder to try and calm her down, but thinks better of it. "Now now, it's his, he can share if he wants, it's not required." Emma says, looking past Noriko and to Julian as she steps past the blue haired woman and moves carefully, slowly, crossing her feet with every step on her way to slide into the jacuzzi and spreads her arms wide.

An eye glances towards Julian as he plays his cards super fast and she lifts an eyebrow up, but doesn't mention anything as her collar clinks against the tub when she rolls her head back to try and rest against the plastic mold.
Noriko Ashida Noriko just gives Emma a look like she's grown a third eye.  "You're killing my leverage."  But for once in her life, she's too slow and lifts her finger in the air as if she was going to say something when Emma walks by.  Eyes shift toward Julian's direction as she stands still by the door.  "You're not a cripple," she says sharply, dagger eyes.  Her expression suddenly bounces into a lazy grin and she says, "I'm just an opportunist.  Now are you going to share or what?"  She's not been wearing her gauntlets since she got back.

Nori tosses her bag of gummy bears in a lob to Julian, saying as it sails, "Have some.  They've got a..kick."  She starts toward the hot tub but then suddenly stops herself, her eyes looking over cautiously.  "Uh...can someone help me put this thing on?"  she asks, softer.
Julian Keller Julian's eyes open, since he had been in full on brooding mode until he heard the approach of what he assumed to be Noriko. Much to his surprise, instead he finds Emma Frost herself. Those brooding eyes suddenly become as wide as silver dollars, as he lifts up with a start. He hadn't been expecting that. His arms slide off the ledge of the tub and into the water, and he immediately regrets it. Not that the water should damage his prosthetics, but... it just feels like it should.

"Miss Frost," He greets Emma, before Noriko is talking again. Always. Talking. Claiming he isn't a cripple no less. Which makes his jaw clench. "Don't patronize me. I'm well aware of my impairment. I'm crippled. That's just the reality I have to live with now."

When the gummies come soaring at him, he recoils, but they stop in midflight before his face, held aloft by his psionic power. He examines the baggy, carefully. Suspiciously. But he does set it down at the ledge of the tub. Carefully. As carefully as he can muster, with his TK being the psionic equivalent of a bull in a china shop, anyway.

"Not it," he mutters.
Jean Grey Noriko seems to have a suspicion that Jean Grey knows all and watches all, or at least, watches HER. While it is obviously far from true, sometimes her behavior seems to give credence to the myth.

This was supposed to be some kind of secret outing. In fact, it looks like it was supposed to be at least two separate, simultaneous secret outings, which is quite a coincidence in and of itself. There's also the fact that Jean has a jacuzzi in her room, which makes the whole journey a little less necessary and presumably a great deal more effort than she would expend without some reason...

And yet, she's here.

Well, she arrives, actually not more than moments after Emma steps out. As she arrives, she's already changed, into a reasonable green one-piece since she anticipates some of the student body about. She obviously didn't do it in the house while Emma was in there. Did she change back at the mansion and walk down? Or is this that fancy molecular telekinesis making a resurgance? Who knows!

She does have a robe, which could argue for a more traditional approach.

"Hmm, having a little party?" she wonders. While they may -technically- be caught, there's no real sense of administrative wrath in her tone. She probably wouldn't put on a bathing suit to come down and yell at them, either. "Mind if I join you? Emma, I was meaning to catch up with you- this seems as good a time as any." That may be the only hint to the -real- purpose behind this all, rather than busting a little student drinking.
Emma Frost     Emma doesn't yet know the Julian, nor does is she fully aware that he lost his hands, but that's kind of obvious and then she shakes her head, "Maybe don't play the 'woe is me' card so fast. It's not very becoming." Emma notes with a look to Julian even as he tries to hide his booze.

The woman wears a new xavier's one piece swimsuit that fits too tightly in some places and not tight enough in others, the woman's shape isn't exactly a one size fits all kind of shape. The White Queen does appreciate the offer by Noriko and seems to have taken her up on it and has already sunk down to her neck in the hot water, her formerly manicured fingers resting on the lip but one lifts as Jean arrives and asks her question, "Jean, I'd love to catch up with someone not born in this millennium." The woman motions with her hand, inviting Jean to join the fun of soaking in the dirt and grime of other humans with a mind trying its best to not think about it.
Noriko Ashida It's been a road they've been down before.  Nori rolls her eyes as they brim with with a glow and crackle that strikes out and then dies out.  "Well if you're going to be so insistent about it," both annoyed and actually defiant.  It's not exactly like she's putting a lot of effort into clarifying anything she means.

When Noriko realizes what she perceives as no one caring to help her, it hits her like a truck and she immediately feels her jaw tense as her stomach balls up.  She suffocates the vulnerability in anger.  "Fuck you guys."  The words come sharp and she flips the bird hot tubward, her backpack limply held in her other hand as she flares up again.  The tiny storms in her eyes form into spheres of chaotic lightning with a rising glow.  It's on the rise, but there's still a dullness to the light behind them, a simmer.

The next sound is something from a drain pipe and a clamber against the roof of the pool house.  Noriko and her backpack aren't where they were.
Julian Keller Great. Now Ms. Grey is here, too. It's like his worst school delinquent nightmare has somehow merged with his best adolescent wet dreams with all the stunning women that just randomly decided to converge on him. With a grumble, Julian sinks lower into the bubbling waters of the steaming tub. "Fantastic..."

Emma doesn't know Julian, but Julian knows Emma. Not from Xavier's, of course. From the Hellfire Club. Of course, he's just a legacy member, his father being the one who brought them into the fold. The Kellers are still "New Money" though, so expecting the White Queen herself to know him would be too presumptuous for even the ever arrogant Julian to muster. But here she is, in the flesh. Scolding him for... his lack of hands?

"It's not woe is me. It's just knowing HER."

He cocks his head in Noriko's direction to emphasize the point. Julian still hasn't gotten over the way Noriko had laughed and mocked him when he had an explosive control issue with his hands at the Baskin Robbins.

And then Nori is cursing and flipping the bird. Julian just deadpans at the other two occupants, and says, "See what I mean?"

Raising his chin, Julian lifts his plain white plastic hands and cups them around his mouth to call out more loudly. "Hey, first of all, I'm a dude and probably not the best person to help you with dressing. Second, it's not like I have any real ability for fine motor control since... no hands. My telekinesis would probably explode your damned swimsuit. Last... I kinda hate you. So why don't you just come back and take one of these gummies so you can chill out for a few. I'll even share my scotch if you can stop... for one moment... just stop being so insufferable."
Jean Grey Julian's apprehension isn't something Jean can do much about. Well, no, she could deal with it in all kinds of ways, but most of them are pretty unethical, and perhaps the best 'punishment' for his fairly trivial infraction is simply getting to feel awkward about it. The saving grace is that she really does seem focused on Emma.

"Thank you," she answers the other woman's invitation, shedding the robe and carefully slipping down into the tub beside her counterpart. Although the pointed remark she offers regarding their companions in the tub just earns a laugh. "We're really not -so- much older than they are," she feels she has to remind the other woman. "Go a little easier on them, why-" Except then Noriko is storming off in pretty spectacular fashion, more or less out of nowhere since Jean has only just got there. "Looks like I missed something."

Instead, she tries focusing on what's around her, which is a bit more pleasant. "It's so nice doing this outdoors," she offers in idle conversation, but revealing at least one reason why this tub might be preferable to staying in. "The chill in the air versus the warmth of the water? It's really such a nice contrast."

However, there's more shouting from Julian, and she finds herself in the unenviable but somehwat HER JOB position of having to manage this student fracas. "It's probably just easier to let her go," she advises. "Rather than escalating it." She also can't really ignore the 'relaxation gummies' under discussion. "Also, while I can overlook students sneaking a drink now and then -" This is basically college, she gets it. "-there are some rules I can't be quite so lax with. I hope there's nothing in those I need to be concerned with?"
Emma Frost     Emma looks towards Noriko as Jean slips into the pool and Emma carefully adjusts her feet in the water to make sure everyone has their own personal space without toes touching toes or shins or calfs. No need for footsies in this situation. "I'm going plenty easy on them, but, this is your school, I'll be more mindful."

Emma says, lifting a hand from the water and watching the goosebumps on her arm in the chill as she scratches at her skin beneath the collar. Really throwing off the look of the borrowed swimsuit she wears. "It is nearly sensual, the sharpness of the heat versus the cool, you're correct Jean."

Emma notes as shs looks over at the baggie of gummies and is curious herself. Moving in the water to put her knees on the seat next to Julian so she can press against the back with her chest and belly so she can reach over and grab the bag herself and takes it with her as she moves back to her original seat and she pops one in her mouth before offering it to Jean. Chewing slowly, she looks to the redhead, not expecting a taker. "Noriko, do come back here, you wanted to relax in the jacuzzi, this is your idea, come savor it. I wont accept your refusal to do so." Emma says politely as she hides the baggie behind her back on the outside, not offering it back to Julian, or Noriko.
Noriko Ashida "I heard you Julian.  I don't pander to assholes," comes from the prickly teen on the roof, out of view.  Noriko scoffs venomously. "As if I care if you want to help me. I didn't need help with my swimsuit, so get over yourself already."

An inhibitor collar drops down to the ground from out of the black above the roof.  It thumps down on a patch of grass and quickly settles like a fancy horseshoe.
Julian Keller "I wouldn't know what you might be referring to, Ms. Grey. Everyone knows that gummy bears just kinda make everything better. Especially for young adults like us. You can't not ease up a little when you have a few chewy fruity bears in your mouth," Julian replies with the demeanor of the most saintly of altar boys. He looks her wide eyed in the face, blinking a few times to show his confusion, of course. "Would you like a couple? They're Noriko's buy I'm positive that she wouldn't mind if you had like four or five of them. There's plenty to go around."

Emma, however, is helping herself to the baggy. The keen stare of the young telekinetic powerhouse follow the White Queen's every movement. Especially when she's bending and stretching to reach the bag. The poor boy doesn't realize that he's bitten his bottom lip. When she moves away, and Noriko starts talking, though, he snaps out of it.

"What else would you need help with?"

Ah. That. Whatever that is.
Jean Grey While 'trying to keep a straight face while lying to Jean Grey' counts as an exceptionally impressive... and really pointless effort, the Headmistress again seems satisfied with just applying a bit of pressure to the younger students, not letting them feel too comfortable in their mischief. They're not children, and of course they'll get up to this and that. They just can't feel too safe doing it!

Plus, Jean has an apparent ally now, a partner in this process, as Emma moves to snag the bag for herself. Which is really something of a win-win as it saves Jean being the only badguy in the situation. Naturally, she glances to the other woman with a curious expression as she awaits some verdict on the gummies. But no, she doesn't ask for one herself. Not in front of the kids, anyway!

Instead, she leans back, letting her body slide a bit further into the water, and gives a drawn out and very pleased sounding "Ahhhhhh." The relaxation is taking over. Give it enough, and maybe she'll ease up on the students completely. However, it's what Emma says about Noriko that makes her glance in the direction where the young woman has run off. "She asked you out here? Well, I take that as a good sign."

What with the kidnapping and all.

And then the collar lands, and she frowns. "You're definitely not supposed to be running around with those. All the recovered ones are supposed to be down in Hank's lab for him to study and evaluate." Obviously he doesn't really need all of them for study, though, so she's de-emphasizing the fact that they're basically the equivalent of weapons in terms of the security they're (supposed to be) treated with.
Emma Frost     Emma takes the bag and sets it behind her back and sighs as she lowers herself back up to her chin in the water and allows herself to try and relax, though her mind is still a blur of anger and disappointment as she feels that collar on her neck still and the weight of her actions, and she tries to decide the kind of woman she really wants to become. Then the collar clatters to the ground behind her and instantly her hand goes up to her neck to try and find the - "****" She curses and frowns.

Still chewing on the gummy and a bit more harder at this point as she tries to let herself go a million miles away. "Can we send this one down to Hank too, or do you wish to work at the evil step mother role play more, because I don't think it much suits you Jean." She might be a bit catty in front of the students, but she is wearing a power dampening collar, and she's obviously not happy about it.
Noriko Ashida It could have been a miracle.  Julian starts as if he might actually be covering Noriko, causing the quick teen to blip down and perch on the corner of the roof to watch hell freeze over.  But no.  No angel came down from stage heaven and bonked Julian on the head with virtue.

"You would," Noriko seethes to herself in a mutter, even angry at herself for letting him get her so worked up, fuming that he's peddling out what amounts to the fruit of her busting her ass like mad.  Feeling the swell of charge after the fact, Noriko blinks and closes her eyes to take some deep breathes as the world slides around her in that place where her body feels most at peace, where her velocity gives futile chase to push closer and closer, to ride the very waves of lightning that break across her body as if being more in sync with it is simply less of a struggle.  Something new happens.  The light show starts to recede and draw into her.

It takes Noriko a blink to notice that she's not lighting up the roof like a neon Christmas tree anymore.  But the charge has to go somewhere, and Nori can still feel it, urging her to move, to let it flow freely and fast.  She zips down the gutter pipe evident by the rattle behind her.

"I can't get in the water without it..."  Guilt mounts in her features as she directs her gaze down and to the side.  "And-"  Noriko just shakes her head, brushing it off.  She walks and sits about eight feet from the side of the hot tub and giving the inhibitor space too.  Without running around, things get chilly really quick, and maybe because of the extremes, the shiver seems like it's only just a precursor to more.  Nori draws her knees up to her chest, wrapping them in her arms, her head tucking down like a turtle still paying attention.  "Please?"
Julian Keller "Is that a restraining collar?" Julian asks, his brow furrowed in confusion at the exchange between the ladies. But he's distracted by the return of Noriko who somehow seems... dejected. Part of him wants to feel triumphant in that. But he can't. Sighing, he starts to stand up out of the water. He gets about waist high and then realizes.

"I'm kinda stuck here until you all leave..."

But hey. He's a telekinetic, right? And he's got to work on his control, right?

Furrowing his brow, Julian focuses on that inhibitor collar, easily lifting it up. It's a trickier matter to manipulate it. But he manages to fumble with it. It does rumble and hum, as if it were vibrating violently. "You really want to wear this thing?"
Jean Grey Oof. Suddenly Jean has a lot laid on her, intentionally or unintentionally. It is very much against the zen of the hottub to have to face these kinds of hard questions, guilt, responsibility, or so on. And for a moment, she reacts in the very unheadmistress-like fashion of simply sinking down a little further into the water, like she wants to vanish completely.

It gets as far as her nose. Bubble bubble.

However, the woman resurfaces a moment later, sitting back up and taking a deep breath, the difference in temperature between the air and the water on her body causing her to visibly let off steam for a few moments. Eventually, the same breath is expelled, and she turns toward Emma with a somewhat- is it a frustrated look. "You know its not exactly that simple. Everyone has to decide. Based on the interview, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt-"

And there's a 'but' coming.

"-but I'm cheating. I looked inside your head. I took advantage of the position we had you in to satisfy my own concerns. But not everyone can do that. The other teachers can't. Kitty can't." And so Jean lifts her hands from the water in a helpless gesture. "And even if I believe you, I'm not going to make one of my students uncomfortable, make them feel unsafe here, for your benefit. I think you'd agree with that, yes?"

However, even as Emma is complaining about wanting to get rid of her collar, Noriko is making the other sort of argument. "Since you already took it, go ahead-" And since Julian is apparently intent on helping her, she nods as if he should feel free to continue. "Put it on and get in. But I see this is going to be something we're going to have to develop some policy on. The point of the school isn't to give you a place where you can use stolen technology to experience what it's like -not- to be who you are. It's to teach you how to live with what nature made you. These things aren't toys, and we can't start lending them out to every student who feels a little inconvenienced by their powers."
Emma Frost     "That's, frustrating..." Emma begins, but with an eye towards the second collar in the room before she turns her ivy blue eyes towards Jean, "But that is a sound argument, and I do not wish to cause you or your students anymore headaches." Emma agrees and seems like she'll not bring up the subject of the collar she wears around her carefully tanned neck.

Emma shifts beneath the water and stifles a giggle towards Julian as he hides his... youth. "Noriko, he could use a hand after helping you." She only teases, knowing Jean might not like that so she doesn't push and falls silent.

A moment passes and Emma is rising out of the tub and adjusting her swimsuit endlessly and getting distraught. "Can I at least have my stuff brought over?" She grumbles as she climbs out and goes to dry off in the bathroom.
Noriko Ashida Noriko looks frailer without her gauntlets.  She's by no means a small girl or birdlike, but it's weird to get so used to it subconsciously and then, gone.  There's an extra fear that creeps in over time with that, rearing as she thinks about what happened in alley only a year ago and stares at the water.  She stays quiet, listening to Jean's, admittedly, gentle approach.  "It's not a toy to me.  I've been trying..."  She immediately regrets opening her mouth, even if there's nothing ugly in her tone.  With her father, there would have been consequences for 'talking back.'  She's only here because Jean and Ororo will have her, and there's a power to that over the girl, something deep and primal like old scar tissue.

"It's fine.  I don't need to," Noriko offers to Julian evenly, seeming to have come down from her anger.  "I'm just going to go."  She pushes up to her feet and reaches down to scoop up the inhibitor with the maw of her backpack so she doesn't touch it directly.  Zip.  "Seeya."  A proper goodbye for once, she looks to the headmistress, then Emma, and her eyes just peel away from Julian.  Before anyone could stop her or not, she's off, leaving a stack of towels behind a few feet from the edge of where the water has splashed to the ground.
Jean Grey "Of course," Jean answers Emma's most straightforward question. "As I keep saying, this isn't really- we don't jail people here, we're not a policing agency. While you're staying, you're to be treated as a guest. But we're free to set rules for said guests, and until everyone is comfortable with the idea of you, well." The collar stays. But it's pretty obvious that the whole thing isn't something she enjoys dealing with, managing.

Headmistress, not Warden.

Which brings things back to Noriko, although that's clearly not a problem that's going to end any more 'resolved' than where it started. "I know you have, Noriko," she says, understandingly. Certainly, there's no anger in Jean over any of this, and if anything, there's enough worry and doubt to prove that she's not entirely on firm footing with all of this herself. She hasn't held that title for long, and has big shoes to fill where it comes to stepping in for her mentor, for a man who no doubt had to have stern, difficult, and even upsetting kinds of conversations with her, when she first came to the school.

When Noriko makes up her mind not to use it, she just nods, not arguing the point any further. "Alright. Good-" But of course, the girl is gone before she can finish the thought.

In the aftermath, at least they have more of the tub to themselves, and so Jean scootches over a bit so she can really spread out a bit, practically going starfish in the warm water. And when it's just her and Emma, just the adults, she wonders: "You sure you're up for this? You know, it's harder than I ever imagined it would be. And most of them really like me. You're in for something... it won't be easy."
Emma Frost      Before she leaves the area of the boat house jacuzzi, Emma stops, fixes the way he swim suit is riding up and then looks towards Jean still in the tub. "I know I'm up for this. I have a passion for students and teaching, despite public opinion." Emma explains before looking at the bag of laced gummies in her hand, and the redhead still in the tub. "I don't settle for anything easy, Miss Grey." Emma winks as she moves to find a towel and depart.
