Kitty Pryde There is an exercise scheduled for the X-men in the Danger Room today. No details on it, but then that's not a surprise either. Show up and find out on the spot what it is, much like being given a mission on short notice.

When people arrive, the thick doors open to admit them into the Danger Room that when not active, is just an enormous white room, three stories tall, with a window along one wall where those in the control room can watch the happenings with their own eyes instead of on monitors if they choose.

Kitty Pryde is waiting in the big empty room. She grabs Lockheed out of the air, tosses him away from her only to have him flap and dart back to her to be grabbed and tossed away again. The pair just killing time until others arrive.
Simon Lasker Simon Lasker shows up with a bit of a defeated attitude on. Heroing has been much harder than he had thought it would be. Everything is either flamable, crowded or hooked up to a fire supression system. That is before The Human Torch shows up and does almost everything he does better.

For this session Simon is wearing his firefighting suit. He didn't used to think that he needed it for everything, but today he feels like he could use all the confidence he can get.

"Can you folks show me how a real hero does it? I could use a refresher course."

Lockheed and Kitty playing does bring a smile to his face. This might be a good day.
Henry McCoy The Beast was humming as he meandered into the Danger room. He'd just had a snack, and was full of energy. A glance around and a nod to Simon. "Well, it depends on what your perception of a real hero is, Simon." The blue man offers over. "Perhaps your perceptions and mine might be different, yes? Define what you are after, and we can offer advice. Other than that, we may give you the wrong information for your needs."

A smile over to Kitty and Lockheed. "Plans for today's lesson?"
Warren Worthington Walking in fashionably late, Warren makes his way into the Danger Room sporting the outfit that helps define his nomenclature, well that and the wings attached to his back that ruffle and shake in anticipation of a workout. "Sorry i'm late everyone. I had to change. It's not like I wear this thing under my suit all the time you know." Angel turns to Hank, "Heyya fuzzy. How's it hanging? I have some interesting goo for you to look over later. Doug found it oozing out of the microwave. I don't think it is sentient, but you never know with weird organic ooze." He pauses a beat, "Oh..and I am having a new microwave delivered."
Kitty Pryde Kitty Pryde grins over at Simon at his comment. She moves over to clap him on the shoulder gently. "I think you'll be the one showing us move," she says as she smiles at him. Lockheed flaps about overhead, sweeping back and forth above them. The little dragon is capable of near-hairpin turns while still keeping his speed, so agile and nimble on his wings.

The arrival of Henry McCoy gets a grin from Kitty as he comes in and the doors close behind him. "Glad you made it, think it might be just us," she says to him. "Though maybe Angel might make later, haven't heard an update," she says.

Kitty turns to look at the Danger Room. "So I thought we'd-" she says, but her words cut off as the ground jumps, bouncing the three mutants about amidst the sound of a loud impact. There are a few more thuds, the inert Danger Room shaking if not quite as much as the first time. Kitty's hand goes to her ear where her comms earbud is in place for the Danger Room exercise. <<This is Kitty, any read on what's causing the shaking?>> she asks over comms. But no voices rise to answer her, the comms bzzzing softly with static.

Kitty frowns greatly. "We'd better head up-" she gets out and then the room trembles again, and bits of the ceiling cave in and crash down into the room, sending up a cloud of dust. A giant blue metal hand crashes through the hole and widens it. A giant robotic head looks down through the hole.

A computerized voice from nightmares fills the room. "Mutants detected. Apprehend. Mutants surrender immediately or be terminated." The Sentinel drops into the room, a full three stories tall, head nearly scraping the ceiling. Above the hole it created digging down to the Danger Room can be seen. Digging down, which means it passed through the school!
Simon Lasker Simon Laskerjumps back at the sight of the metal giant.

"Holy crap!"

He can feel the impact in his teeth as the robot sets down. He is not sure if this makes it a better or worse situation to come to all kitted out, but it certainly makes him feel more prepared.

He makes an enormous cloud of flame and balls it down like a snowball till it is a bright yellow and somewhere between the size of his head and the size of his fist. He then keeps moving as he launches the fireball around to the back of the Sentinel's knee and holds it there attempting to melt something important in the joint.

As the room is still reasonably cool, all the vent slots on his suit are still unzipped for cooling. He has also not turned on the oxygen yet.
Henry McCoy Grinning over to Warren, Hank chuckles. "Goo? That sounds... vaguely concerning. In the microwave?" He asks, scratching at his chin. "Even worse. Good idea on the new microwave, Warren." A nod is given to the other man. "We might... need to dispose of the other one if it is producing goo."

Henry shrugs to Kitty, chuckling. "I still need to keep in shape, to maintain my svelte figure." He poses.

Then the roof is smashed in. "My stars and garters!" He growls, leaping back and clear of any debris. "Careful! These are Mark Two versions! Ranged nullifcation beams!"
Warren Worthington "Already taken care of, Hank. Doug and I tossed the old one, hence the need for the ne.." Warren starts to say before the world crashes down around them all.

"<explative deleted>!" escapes the X-man's lips before in a flap of huge angelic wings the Angel takes flight and rises the distance between the floor and the ceiling in no time at all, circling the sentinel's head and providing distraction for those on the ground. "You know," he yells at large, "It's at times like these I wish I had an energy blast or something more offensive!"
Kitty Pryde Indeed, while all of the X-men present are quite capable, none of the members that might be considered 'heavy hitters' when it comes to Sentinel are present. No one can single-handedly smash one of the giant metal robots into bits of scrap metal in a single go. No, they are above, which makes one wonder what is going on up at the school if one made it this deep into the X-men's base!

Kitty takes off at a run, circling around behind the Sentinel to make it deal with threats from multiple directions. Lockheed takes flight, sweeps of his wings taking it straight at the Sentinel. He shoots out a fiery blast right at the Sentinel's face, though it seems unaffected as its voice rings out, Mutants are resisting. Termination authorized.

Tentacles of metal sprout from its shoulders, one of them sweeping at Lockheed and hitting even as the little dragon banked hard to avoid it. The purple dragon goes flying across the room, bouncing off a wall and falling to the ground. Though he gets back to all four feet, shaking his head to clear it, and taking flight again.

"Sensors are in its hands!" Kitty reminds of the location its visual and targeting sensors are, rather than the head as many would assume. The giant robot's armor at the back of it's leg heats up and starts to melt as Pyro applies the concentrated fire there. It lifts the giant foot to attempt to stomp on Pyro and crush him.

A hand tracks towards Angel as he flies through the air, a spot in the palm lighting up red a moment before it starts firing blasts of a heated laser at the aerial X-man.
Simon Lasker Pyro back pedals furiously to clear the stomping foot. he then pulls out a can of something flamable and sprays it at the leash of flame that connects him to the fireball. A bubble of flame travels up the tendril, gaining brightness as it goes. By the time it reaches the end the whole bulb is white hot and is trying to blowtorch through the knee.

"Is this the part where I say that nothing could possibly be more offensive than your wardrobe? Because I feel as if it might be."

He finally catches a breath. "Where do the nullifications beams come out of?"

The breath is then spent on running from the tentacles.
Henry McCoy "Hands and eyes!" Henry shouts out, running towards the wall to lead a blast in that direction - just before using said wall to rebound from and launch himself towards the head of the towering construct. Razor sharp claws are extended, the Beast looking to use his momentum and mass to slam into the enemy and knock it off balance. With so many targets, it might be a touch busy aiming to avoid tumbling over.
Warren Worthington Areal maneuvers are his bread and butter, so the Angel easily dodges the first few blasts from the sentinels palm blaster, but eventually luck runs out and as the Angel moves to dive right, the sentinel compensates for the projected maneuver and scores a direct hit to Angel's back. The impact is heard with a dull *thwump* as the force of it hurls the winged mutant into the adjacent wall with a harder sounding *THUD*, cutting Warren's scream of agony short as the aerialist starts to plummet towards the ground.
Kitty Pryde The Sentinel's giant foot clangs into the Danger Room floor, Pyro dodging out from beneath it at the last second to avoid being smooshed and turned into a mutant pancake. His fiery package is delivered, melt a hole into the Sentinel's leg at the joint. It makes the Sentinel teeter and shift to compensate. It points a hand towards Pyro and sends a laser blast his way.

The dodging form of Angel avoids the first few blasts. "Adapt to mutant ability and anticipate" the giant robot says, the next blast sending Warren bouncing off the wall and plummeting to the ground!

Kitty calls to Pyro, "Nullifier is in the torso, chest area!". Then she sees Warren falling and sprints forwards towards him.

Beast bounds over Kitty's head on his leap to the Sentinel's head, slashing across the metallic face and raking the metal armor. The impact causes the Sentinel to stagger on its bad leg, throwing off some of the shots towards Pyro.

Kitty's eyes are on Warren, sprinting until she dives, hand outstretched for him as he falls. She grasps him in that last moment and he passes right through the ground, Kitty being pulled down with him by his momentum as they disappear!

She quickly slows their fall, arms going about Warren in a bear hug to avoid losing touch with him and causing him to become tangible within the solid ground. She climbs up out of the ground, from her perspective having to carry all of his weight. So when they are back above ground and she phases them back to normal, she lets out an oof. "You been putting on more muscles? Heavier than I expected," she says while panting for breath.

The Sentinel doesn't give them a reprieve though, reaching for them with those telescoping metal tentacles.
Simon Lasker The secret to a blowtorch is that once the metal melts through it takes relatively little to keep it melting. Pyro pushes the fireball through the side of the knee so that even if it goes out now, the joint will be welded solid. He then swings it up to the opposite hip to more or less fully disable the legs of this mechanical monster.

"So if it can't use its legs it will have a much harder job hitting us with that. Got it. I will keep doing modern art to it."

He runs the other way hoping that a ceised up knee will make it unable to move like it would like to. By this point the first can is expended. He brings out his second can and starts melting at the hip.
Warren Worthington Stirring, Angel looks up to Kitty and scoffs, "I'm around 150. Maybe I put on more weight, but it certainly wasn't fat."

Coming back to his senses, Angel winks towards Kitty and launches himself back into the air till he reaches the roof, then folding his wings in and dive bombing the Sentinel as a cannonball to try and force the already staggered Sentinel over. "Timber! Kitty, ground it!"
Kitty Pryde The Sentinel tries to move away from Pyro's attack, but finds its leg won't bend anymore. Jets fire up beneath it, pushing it across the floor, not the best way to move in a room which is just barely tall enough to hold it, but it does give the mutant-hunting giant robot some mobility.

The rockets help turn it about, bringing it's chest towards Pyro. A purple light comes on in its chest as the power nullifying beam powers up. Suddenly, Lockheed swoops, breathing out a plume of smoke between Pyro and the giant robot. The first shot from the nullifier ray misses Pyro by a scant few feet!

Kitty grins at Warren, and then starts back towards the Sentinel as the Angel goes on the attack. He hits it with all of his momentum and the Sentinel on legs that don't bend slowly careens over, leaning past the tipping point where it could save itself and it clangs into the ground, causing the entire Danger Room to shake.

With it down, Kitty sprints forward, running... right into it. She disappears inside the body, and soon smoke starts to leak from it inside. Sparks shoot out of the chest as the Sentinel denies what is happening to it. Mutants will be terminated. Mutants will be ter-ter-ter-ter-ter More smoke and sparks start to shoot out of its head where Beast sliced it open and the robot suddenly goes still. Kitty rises up atop its head. "Found the computing core and, well you've seen what happens to cell phones when I phase through them," she says. Yeah, electronics don't like her passing through them.

Kitty hops off, and then the Sentinel shimmers, as does the hole in the ceiling, and the wreckage. Shimmering in that way that the hardlight holograms of the Danger Room do when they are shutting down. The entire attack itself, just another Danger Room simulation, this one using the Danger Room as the setting.
