Irie West Irie has discovered the Playstation 5 and has decided to do a bit of retro gaming. She is, however, a little bit frustrated when she finds out that the PS5 has /just/ come out and so the library for the console is really limited to the early releases. And here she was, hoping to play a couple of rounds of Mortal Kombat 13.

Demon Souls, however, is still a classic and something that she can put her mind to. Today she's decided to do a naked punch run. No armor, no weapons. Just walk up to monsters and slap them silly.
Bart Allen Bart Allen has had to work days for a change so after a shower at work he decided to come check in on things here at the tower. He is still wearing his Gotham Zoo uniform. The young man, is curious to see who is about, and once he sees his cousin and the game she is playing he will move to have a seat, and says "What ya doing?" He is sitting back on the seat of the couch legs over the back of it.
Irie West Irie is sitting on the couch with her legs tucked under her feet. She's wearing an XXL shirt which might as well be a nightgown for her, and a pair of jammies. "Doing a naked fist run in Demon Souls," she tells Bart. "I don't know why. It's not like I've ever really played this before, but it's a classic and I like a challenge."
Bart Allen Bart Allen grins and says "Yea, it can be fun, to your right, three guys coming at you." He tries to help her some, and says "I was sorta lucky, all of it was so old for me it was new, weird not being in VR, but after a bit I was able to get used to it."
Irie West Irie nods, her tongue sticking out as she turns her character to meet the oncoming mobs. If it wasn't for her heightened reflexes she probably would have died right there, but she somehow manages to pull out a win over them by just punching them to death. "Yeah. I didn't have much time to do gaming, really. Dad wouldn't even let us have a cell phone much less a console. It's okay though. He didn't make us go to school, and we just ended up going out and fighting bad guys so I guess it all balanced out."
Bart Allen Bart Allen 's brow raises a bit and says "Wally did not make you go to school? That ." He remembers he is talking to Wally's daughter "So and so... He made sure Max took care of me, and I had to do school, and Max even made me go to bed at night and sleep for more than a few minutes.
Irie West "I think," she says, putting the game on pause and turning to look at Bart, "I think he wanted us to live life to the fullest because he knew that we didn't have a lot of time in the world." She adds, quietly, "Because of the growth spurts. I figured it out pretty early on, but Jai..." she shakes her head. "He didn't know until he overheard mom and dad talking about it." She frowns, looking down at her controller. "I miss them."

She sighs, "Don't get me wrong. I love Today Dad, and he's trying really hard to be a good father but," she shrugs, "he's got a long way to go before he becomes what my father is." She hastens to add, "Not that I'm putting him down or anything. Just... there's fifteen years difference and nobody's the same after fifteen years."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and says "Well I have faith in him, and you being here, he will have more time to fix the growth thing so you and Jai get to live long lives and not just the short spurts." He says this as if he knows and he might actually know right? "So, you thought about trying to figure out a way to meet ya mom without telling her who you are?"
Irie West Irie runs a finger across the edge of the controller thoughtfully. "I thought about it, briefly. Buuut..." she tilts her head in a dismissive way. "I dunno. I feel like I've already screwed up the timeline enough as it is by just being here /and/ meeting dad." She gives Bart a wry chuckle, "I mean, can you imagine somebody just coming up to you and saying, 'Hi, you don't know me but I'm your daughter from the future?' Even if she /did/ believe me, that might tempt her to go and find dad and then know knows what would happen?"
Bart Allen Bart Allen says, "Thats why I said you don't tell her who you are, you tell her your doing some paper for school or something and want to do an interview with a reporter, because your thinking about going into journalism. And the whole time travel messing things up, I don't know, seems specially at this point in time, the future is in such a flux. There is a girl on the outsiders with me, that is from a future more like the terminator movies, but with giant terminators."
Irie West Irie looks up, surprised. "Really? I... that changes things." She closes her eyes and furrows her brows as she tries to think this through. "If multiple possible futures all lead back to this one then that means that this current timeline is most likely going to go off in a completely different path." She starts rubbing her temples as if that's going to help her think, "Which means that if I /do/ end up going into the future to get back to my family, there's no guarantee that the future I end up in is going to actually be my future."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and says "Yea, there is that possibility, but then there is also the speed force to add in, as our time travel it a bit different with others. I think the real trick for us to get back to the time we started is having out own lightning rods to it. I mean I have only been back to my future once but both times, I have met legionnaires they seem to have been from the same future. I wonder if it more, multiple futures can come back here like a bus station, but if we try to go back, it is easier for us or maybe even all, to find the right bus to go back with.
Irie West "A temporal bus station," muses Irie. "That's an interesting take on it. It would also mean that there are multiple pasts that converge to this time, too." She sighs, and leans back in the couch as she contemplates all of this stuff. "I wonder what it is about this time that draws time travelers to it. Is it coincidence or is there a kind of," she starts miming putting together a sphere of some kind, "big quantum ball of potentiality or something." She shakes her head, "I need to head to the library and read up on all the stuff on Quantum physics again. I did that once and... some of it stuck. Same thing with relativity. Just trying to understand /everything/."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods a bit and says "I think it happens, every so often, it might even explain some of the issues Max had. When he was trying to enter the speed force and missing it he kept ping ponging up through the time line, so maybe that there are places that somewhat attract travelers in, like time magnets or something, or I could just be totally off it, and just talking out of my butt." He offers her a grin and says "But there are a lot of good things about this time."
Irie West Irie nods in agreement, "Oh yeah. It's close enough to my time that things haven't really changed." She gestures at the paused game, "I mean, sure in my time they've got the Playstation X and full dive VR is just starting to get off the ground, but there's still a Starbucks on every corner, you know?"
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods his head a bit to this and says "Yea, your time travel is a much shorter hope, you still know some things, like I would wager you know Terry and Gar's kids, a lot better than I do, where I just know more in general things than you do. And when it comes to our family I know a lot more, as it was made sure I knew the family.
Irie West "Yeah," Irie says, nodding back. "There are a few people that I'm really familiar with and it's hard to not treat them like I've been around them forever and not just met them for the first time."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and says "That was part of where I had it easier I think. I consider this part of time more my time now, cause I have actually lived more time here than anywhere else." He admits.
Irie West "Yeah? I guess that makes sense." she admits. "From what I remember you came back here when you were, what, four? Five? Something like that, and that was six years ago?" She shakes her head. "Our timelines are weird."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods a bit and says "Yea, 12 years in VR in the 31st century, then 6 years here, but when I went back the one time I was with my mom, I saw the real 31st and to be honest, the reality I lived in was not really the 31st, I would more call it the attempt at what the scientists wanted the 31st to be.
Irie West "How did you get back?" Irie asks. "Maybe that'd be something I can try to get me back to my time."
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks to her, and says "Grandma brought me back, using some devices she got from the flash museum, I believe. She never told me for sure where they came from (aint sure what method they used), But your dad fixed my hyper aging, with a race around the world.
Irie West Irie stops and blinks. "That's what dad was doing when I got sent back in time. A race around the world, he said. To see how fast I could go." She shakes her head, "I thought it was just a simple test but maybe he was trying to fix me? Like how he fixed you?" She shakes her head. "But instead of fixing me it ended up sending me back. Maybe because he knew that I'd be fixed in this time? Or..... UGH!" She says pounding her fist on the couch cushion in frustration, "Why does everything have to be so complicated!"
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over to her, and says "Cause your 3 teen, and I am 8 teen, he says it to separate the first number and the teen. And because it is time travel. Heck I saw one theory that the whole speed force was created by the lightning bolt that hit grandpa, and then it traveled though time both forward and backwards as if it was always there.
Irie West Irie stares at Bart for a good while before bursting out laughing. "Yeah! That would make just as much sense as anything else! Probably more so, considering our family." She picks up the controller and unpauses the game, getting back into it. However she had paused at an inopportune time, and dies almost immediately.

YOU DIED

"Darn it," she says, more disappointed than angry. "All said and done, I really do like living in this point in time. I get to live with legends before they become legendary and see that they're just as dorky as I am. I've even become /friends/ with some of them which just... blows my mind."
Bart Allen Bart Allen grins and says "Yes, trust me, SB, Rob, and Wonder Girl are like my best friends ever and at points in times all of them have been in the JLA, and about every other team that is saving the world and universe.
Irie West "I haven't met Superboy yet," Irie admits. "I mean. I have. In the future. But not here. But I get to be friends with Viv, and Nadia... /the/ Nadia Pym-van Dyne! /AND/ they're letting me be a part of GIRL which is /huge!/."
Bart Allen Bart Allen grins and nods his head a bit to this, as he says "Well when I say Superboy, I mean, Conner, not Jon, I know with this time in particular it can get confusing. Maybe should start calling Jon Kid Super."
Irie West "Oh, yeah. They have the same problem Flashes do," Irie nods in understanding. "Like... I /think/ I'm the only Kid Flash right now, since you're going by Impulse, but Wally and Barry have to fight over who gets to be /the/ Flash and not /a/ Flash."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and says "And don't forget Jay as well." He offers her "It is part of why I went back to Impulse, I figured it gives me a bit more of an identity, specially for people who are less in the know and I still get kid flash now and again, since I went by it some.
Irie West "Well, move over Bart!" Irie says, striking a superhero pose! (Well, as much as she can while sitting crosslegged on a couch.) "There's a new Kid Flash in town!" She makes a whooshing motion with her hand, "Fastest girl alive!"
Bart Allen Bart Allen grins and says "I will have to let Jenni know that if she comes back and visits me again. She is my cousin and part of the Legion. I do believe though you will make a great Kid Flash. What color scheme you going with?
Irie West "I'm going with the yellow and gold costume that Dad made me," Irie says. "It's made out of... I don't know. Some kind of material. When I aged up the costume kind of aged with me and still fits like a glove. I think I'm going to keep it just in case any more weirdness about me happens."
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and will head into the other room and come back wearing his white and red version of the flashish uniform he uses. "I have went with this recently."
Irie West Likewise, Irie puts the game on pause again, and disappears into her room for a moment before reappearing in her costume. "This is mine. I like the white and red!"
Bart Allen Bart Allen smiles and will head back and change back to some normal clothes, before coming back "You know it is a bit weird to have to go into another room to change." He grins
Irie West Irie chuckles, rubbing the back of her head. "Yeah well, I don't have one of those cool rings that the Flashes have. It's one of the reasons why I think that I'm going to go public. Well..." she amends, "Not really /go/ public, but just not hiding it anymore. I mean, if dad still had a secret identity then there's no way I'd go public because that'd jeopardize it. But..." she shrugs. "I don't want to have to worry about always being in costume or finding an excuse to get it when somebody needs my help."
Bart Allen Bart Allen shakes his head and says "He is public with his id, but mean, even if had it in a bag or something most times, we can just change and no one will notice but other speedsters, it gets a bit complicated. Oh, seems that some speedsters out there either have not figured out they are controlled to the speedforce or have some other way of being super fast.
Irie West Irie nods. "Yeah. I'd /love/ to get my hands on one of those rings to stuff my costume in it. That'd be real handy." She sits back down on the couch. "I always wondered about that. The other speedsters, that is. How many are really connected to the Speed Force and how many do it by other means."
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over there, are great, I want a legion ring again they let you fly, and they rock, would love to have one that does both." He will move to find another controller, and says "Lets try it in cop op and see how we do."
