Owner Pose
Tony Stark The doors are open to the lab ... but the lab does not, in any form, seem to be a /lab/. Crickets and wild animals chirp and hoot and roar, sounds present even in the hallway. A view from the door itself is perhaps very disorienting: the lab seems to be an overgrown jungle of a mess of vines, plants, and other fauna. A massive, exotic looking bullfrog the size of a /bulldog/ is seated just inside the door to the lab, large throat expanding as it surveys just beyond the border of the strange foresty domain.

Yet inside, mixed into the jungle, are also the vague shapes of the more familiar lab structure: white pristine tables, hanging tech, that just seems entirely overpowered by the jungle.
Pepper Potts Where ever Tony may be does not mean Pepper is there, necessarily. She could be (and likely is) not too far behind, or will be, with food, with a bit of forgotten equipment, or he's made himself incommunicado and she has to track him down in person for any of the mentioned reasons, or a number of others that have cropped up over the years.

Should anyone ask Pepper her opinion on the matter of balancing her employ and her relationship? It's complicated, simply because embedded in Tony's simplicity, there are always, always complications.

Such as..

Rounding the corner downstairs in the Avenger's Mansion, she actually fully believes she's approaching the lab with a bag in hand. She's dressed for the weekend; midi-skirt, low heels, a casual blouse with her hair up in a pony tail. As she rounds a corner, the sound of the jungle reaches her ears long before she reaches the door, and a hand rises to the wall to give her a bit of a solid anchor. Her brow creases in confusion, and her pace slows, her head ducking slightly as she peers and stops short with a sharp, audible intake of breath a short distance from that bullfrog.

"Um..."

A single, tentative and most definitely hesitant step forward is taken, green eyes not leaving that bulldog-sized bullfrog,

"Tony?"

Wait.. doesn't Dr Pym play with-- no, Lang. He plays with.. or.. and the brief play of confusion is easily shown on her features as she clears her voice and calls out again,

"Tony?"
Tony Stark "On your left," Tony calls back, from, presumably, somewhere in the jungle on the left side of the lab as Pepper faces the whole of the situation from the doorway. His voice rises cleanly and clearly over the jungle-like sounds, though there's a hoot of some distant monkey as if in defiance of Tony talking over the jungle's mystique.

"It's a 'magic' forest," Tony comments, with a sort of dismay or light arrogance - much like describing a minor inconvenience like too much traffic on the freeway. It happens, it's annoying, but not something to get worked up over. "Running some tests for my equipment against it...."

If Pepper tracks the voice and decides to come into the jungle area, Tony is present, back and inside a distance, with a bunch of floating drones and some tech that appears to plug into some trees. Magic is an overlay for the lab, but the lab still stands.
Pepper Potts 'On your left' response brings her another step closer to the doorway, all the while keeping a close eye on that giant frog as she approaches. At the threshold, her hand slides towards the entry before she takes that definitive step into the lab.

'On your left'

"Magic forest," Pepper repeats. "Right. How often again do we come across jungles in New York City? Though, come to think of it, the Bronx Zoo has been applying for grants..." Leave it to Pepper to find a shred of work in almost everything she touches. "Were you interested in underwriting LingLing's visit? They would like an answer in a couple of weeks."

Still, with assurances given, she follows the inner wall to where Tony's voice is coming from. Soon enough she sees him through the foliage, and she's got that //look// of 'it happens, it's annoying', though the 'not something to get worked up over' jury is still out.

"Your illusions?" comes in the approach, and Pepper walks around equipment in order to get to his side to give him a quick and brief kiss, while setting the bag onto a table. "New kebab stand. Heard it was good."

The question has to come, anyone would ask it, really..

"What are you doing, and why a jungle?"
Tony Stark "I wasn't particularly after a /jungle/. More that I have some new scanning equipment, and I am doing a variety of tests to see how it senses magical presence and manifestations. Sometimes tech can be blind to magic or treat it strangely when it senses it, and I want to see how my new scans are reacting to it."

So the jungle is test fodder, not the goal. "This is just a small magic forest from some 'adventure' a few years ago," Tony says, chatty, and perking up at the food.

"...That said, I think we may want to take the food out of here, since there are magical jaguars that might not realize this is MY meal, not theirs," he asides to Pepper with a sly sideways smile.

Three of the drones orient on Pepper and begin to rapidly and distrustfully scan her, the food, her bag. But it would make sense: they are currently set to do full scans, and they are seeing how magical she may be!
Pepper Potts "Mmmm.."

Pepper glances at the bag set on the table before reaching for it again and holding it a touch closer as the drones start their scans.

"Stop that. It's me."

Wait.. he said 'jaguars'? She looks back and over her shoulder at the magic jungle, listening perhaps to see if she can't discern noises that might hint that a jaguar may be somewhere within. "It's not real, right?" It's not a thought she wants to consider, but she is now back in possession of that takeout!

"Amanda did say she'd help us. She could put some 'small wards', as she put it, on the Penthouse. She mentioned it a few weeks ago," on her birthday when she and Pepper took the 'small' cruise on the yacht. Before Paris.

"Should we call her? Would it help at all?"
Tony Stark The drones pause a little, "Nope, scan her. We're doing full test suites of everything in this lab. Follow your directive," Tony admonishes the drones, who immediately continue what they were supposed to be doing. They were given a test to check everything - and they failed it!

"After all, you could have been Loki, seducing me with food," Tony reminds Pepper smoothly, with an arch of eyebrow and playful squint at her, as if he could decipher wrongdoing and trickery in her manner.

"It's 'real' in terms of magic being real. It's not illusion, if that's what you're asking. It's a magical mini jungle sauna." It is really toasty in there.

"Yeah, we can ask her for phase two. Right now it's easy to use this little mini-jungle to get a good benchmark of tests for them. So far so good, by the way, but we'll look at full results later on..." Tony's distracted again, back into his equipment, as it chirps and some data starts to scroll out on his datapad.
Pepper Potts Pepper presses her lips together and stern-looks at the drones in momentary annoyance, but it does pass. "Could have been L--? Oh, come on Tony.." she laughs. "I'm pretty sure no one but me actually hunts you down to make sure you have something to eat. Not even Steve."

She eyes the drones again, "Don't you dare." Still, she knows it's inevitable, and she turns towards Tony, still not far from his side. Probably the safer bet in most circumstances, and with finding out it's actually a .. real-ish jungle? "A magical, mini.. with jaguars. Does it just create creatures, or is it all pre-formed, and-"

Tony going back to work, however, is greeted with a sighed exhale, and with a look around the room once more, she nods before taking a step back. "Right.. I'll leave you to it, then? Janet was talking about a new fashion house opening uptown and we were going to go take a look at their portfolio."
Tony Stark "Sounds like a good time for you two," Tony says, a vote of pleasant confidence for Pepper and Janet to enjoy themselves at the event. He seems absorbed in what he's doing -- though of course assuming that Stark can't multitask would be folly.

"One more thing, before you go, though," Tony says. The drones all whurr, and rush towards her and around to continue their scans, taking that as something for them. But Tony grins a little, instead, in his self-satisfied way, and puts the data aside to approach and give Pepper a kiss with a side-hug. And a small wink. "All right, you pass inspection."
Pepper Potts Pepper still has the kebabs, mind, and she crinkle-crunches the paperbag so it makes a soft noise. "That's tonight. Don't be too long. I'm taking these so some large cats don't decide they might want to come a little closer than is good." Once again, she looks at the drones, adding, "So you be useful. Got it?" Instead of scanning her, keep him safe!

She does slow down at the 'one more thing', giving those drones the stare once more before she exhales in a soft chuff. Tony's approach gains a brow rise, and her head tilts in the unspoken 'hmmm?' before his arm slides around for that quick hug, and a brief kiss. "Oh do I," she returns with a ghosted smile. "Do I get a stamped passport now or do I have to be inspected each time?"

Pepper slides towards the door along the wall, and she pauses at the doorway, "Without the drones," is added before she exits the lab.
