Dyani Zitkala The bees, extras and the three she sent, Dyani had watched the whole thing through them. The parts that she could anyway, some parts she missed, but she got the general flow of events through the bees. From her room, where she paced partly on foot and partly in the air, she paid attention to the details.
Clarice Ferguson     It's been a while since things have calmed down. The victims were found - and stashed in a safe place on the X-Men's base. Doctor McCoy had managed to get the bit of plastic out of the man's lungs - while Clarice watches anxious from outside the room. Hank seemed pretty confident the man would survive.
With all that sorted, she finally makes her way up to Dyani's room - clearing her throat before she raps uneasily at the door.
Dyani Zitkala The door just swings open, because it wasn't shut tight. Dyani is still pacing the room, at the moment about three feet above the floor. "Are you alright?" She asks when the door swings open and she sees who it is. "We were worried."
Clarice Ferguson     "I- well. Hell, Dyani, I didn't mean to worry you," Clarice says with embarrassment as she enters the room - nuding the door closed behind her. "I'm fine. We're all fine. None of us got touched. None us were hurt. Everybody's fine. I'm- I should have come to see you sooner, I'm sorry, I just wanted to know everything I could before I..."
No, she was delaying, and she knew it.
    "Anyways. I'm fine."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani swoops down and lands in front of Clarice, looking her over very carefully, head tilting, eyes turning. "Are you certain? You are very powerful, we saw how you bounced around so easily, but... we still worried." She finally steps back to Clarice can enter the room.

"Did the mutant die? We don't know what made him sick but we could see he was sick. We hope he died." She hangs her head alittle at that. "We know we shouldn't, but we do... we stung him though, so we got revenge."
Clarice Ferguson     "I'm certain. I can handle a group of gangsters," Clarice reassures the girl - reaching out to rest a hand on her arm. "The man's still alive - but that's good. We need him to tell us where the other people were sent. Right? So we can follow them, and free them. The gangsters didn't remember anything useful, unfortunately. But he'll probably wake up in a fair amount of pain - if it makes you feel any better."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani's head tilts, "They don't remember? That doesn't make sense, they always remembered and would get angry, and then he touched them again and they went back to being his pets." She hmms softly, then looks toward the window. "Too far now, but they remembered before."
Clarice Ferguson     "Well. They were confused, and frightened, and they ran off. Cyclops let them leave," Clarice replies with a helpless shrug of her shoulders. "So we're counting on this guy to tell us how to find the people he sold." Which might mean bargaining with him - ugh. But the kid doesn't need to know that. "Anyways. We haven't given up on finding the rest of the people yet, and with the guy in custody - it won't be happening anymore. Alright?" she promises - flashing the girl a smile.
Dyani Zitkala Dyani Zitkala continues to look out the window, "And the others? That were there, they are safe now? They will get to go home to their families?" She slowly turns to look at Clarice again, and offers a smile. "That is the part that is most important, that they are okay and can go home. We do not want them to go through what we did."
Clarice Ferguson     Clarice hesitates a moment - but she doesn't see the point in lying to the kid. "The other people are with the X-Men - my friends who helped rescue them. Yeah?" she explains. "They... it's almost like they're asleep. They're not really responding right now. They have telepaths who will check on them to see if they can undo what happened to them. Or if it'll just wear off in time. Or if we can get the man who did this to release them. But they're safe, and getting medical care, and they should be alright soon. I know the X-Men can handle this."
Dyani Zitkala Taking one of her hands, Dyani pulls Clarice over to one of the chairs, "They were very powerful. We did not see what that one did to the door, but we saw the door! We saw them flying around, and the one who goes through walls! We felt like we were watching a movie, but it was all real. If they are with them, then those people will be helped. We wish we could do more, but the sting Ace got was all we could do."
Clarice Ferguson     "She's very strong - she can pull doors out easily," Clarice replies. "And Shadowcat can walk through solid objects, and walk on air - to go through floors and ceilings and the like. Plus, she's a very good fighter," she explains as she's led to the chair, and sinks into it. "I don't get to work with them very often, honestly - the X-Men. But... they're good people."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani scoots a little closer, "Shadowcat... we like that name. What is the name the strong one goes by? What about the one with the glasses, and the one with the trench coat? We won't tell anyone, we promise. So creative, much better than Stinger, but we know that name fits us." She smiles brightly, wings fluttering before she sits in the other chair. "Why do you not get to work with them?"
Clarice Ferguson     "Rogue," Clarice supplies. It's basically a give away - since the woman lives at the school, and only goes by her pseudonym. Hell, Dyani already met her. But hey, if the X-Men want to pretend that's how you keep secrets... "Cyclops has the glasses, Gambit has the coat," she offers. Then with a shrug of her shoulders she adds, "The Brotherhood, historically, takes a more... aggressive stance on human-mutant relations than the X-Men. The X-Men try to protect mutants - but also help humans, to show them that we are allies. That we're one and the same. We're all people. The Brotherhood... has often used violence to let our opinions be known about the state of human/mutant relations. It hasn't won us any friends, and may have sewn enough to fear to make things worse. It's... things are complicated. But the Brotherhood's tousled with the X-Men more than once. We didn't used to get along."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani lays her hand on Clarice's arm, "We still care about you, we think you do good things, even if you've done bad things for good reasons. Is that wrong of us?" She tilts her head. "Sometimes, the right way doesn't work no matter how many times it's done, so we have to do to the wrong thing to get the right solution. Most humans do not like us, those that don't outnumber those that do. The people here say they want to change that, to make it better, but..." she looks around as if people are listening, and her voice gets quietier. "They're way isn't working either, cause it's been /years/."
Clarice Ferguson     "Yes, but we were working against them all that time," Clarice points out. "For every human they convinced - we frightened ten," she counters. "...I don't think fear's the way. I think it's one way to teach them to respect us, and something else entirely to teach them to //fear// us. And it can be a fine line between the two. But it's an important distinction." She lets out a sigh. "Anyways. It's complicated."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani nods slowly, "Sounds very complicated. How can we help? We want to help some how. Yes we will learn and stay here and all the things we are supposed to do, but we still want to help if we can."
Clarice Ferguson     "For now, Dyani...?" Clarice asks. "Staying here, and learning, and training //is// what you can do," she says encouragingly. "Get better at using your powers. Push your control - what you can see, and hear - how long you can maintain your control - with your bees. You and I can try some experiments - I can teleport around the world with some of your bees, and we'll see how far your control can extend. Alright?"
Dyani Zitkala A huge grin spreads across Dyani's face, "We like that idea! We could see all kinds of places while trying to extend the control. We learned about the hair trick, well, remember it. It can extend how long they can be away from me before 'activating'. Sorry about the one on your head, she wanted to be close to you. We think she was feeling our concern."
Clarice Ferguson     "I was wondering about that," Clarice answers - letting out a huff of air. "If she was trying to tell me something. Or if... I don't." She shrugs her shoulders helplessly. "I don't think it helped that the two bees we were supposed to be following were downstairs - while I was helping with the upstairs, " She adds.
Dyani Zitkala For a moment Dyani fidgets around, then adjusts her wings a little. "We were very anxious, very worried, they can feel it when we are, because they are part of us. We think she wanted to make sure you were okay, that's all. The other two did what they were supposed to, leading to Ace in the basement, or trying to. Normally that door was open," she fidget again then pulls a bee out of her ear. "Did she get in your way?"
Clarice Ferguson     "No, she didn't get in my way," Clarice reassures the girl with a smile. "I just... wanted to be sure I wasn't misunderstanding anything." She reaches out to take Dyani's hand - giving it a squeeze. "I'm sorry you were worried - but I was fine, really. I've been doing this for a long time - since I was smaller than you, actually. And I didn't always have such a good team at my back, either."
Dyani Zitkala Another head turn, and this time it is obvious that Dyani is staring at Clarice. Her eyes seem to be adjusting more easily to focusing, though still on a larger scale. "How little? Why have you been doing this so long? What do you do really? We can learn quickly so we can help you, honest!"
Clarice Ferguson     "Dyani..." Clarice sighs, and looks down and away from the girl, as she struggles for a moment - trying to decide how much to tell the girl. Did it help anything - to hide her past from her?
"They took me when I was six," she finally says in a soft voice. She looks back up to the girl as she adds, "I never had any other choice. They used me against our own kind, and against allies to mutant kind, and it was all I knew. The only thing I learned. I was seventeen by the time I was freed."
She shakes her head as she adds, "I know you want to help. And I know that you could, but I don't want you to be //forced// into this choice like I was. You have the chance to learn other things, and make other choices... Give it some time. And if you still want to fight, then that choice will always be open to you."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani frowns very deeply, that slow creepy blink of her eyelids over the large eyes and then she hugs Clarice. Out of her chair and arms around the older mutant too quickly. "Okay," she whispers. "We will give it time, we will learn and then we will decide. We do not want to upset you, you are hive, very important to us. We want you to be happy, like you have made us happy."
Clarice Ferguson     The suddenness of the hug surprises Clarice - and though she stiffens for a moment, it doesn't cause her to retreat entirely, like the hug of the girls' parents had done. Hesitantly, her arms go around Dyani in return before she offers softly, "I don't think you could upset me. I just... I want you to have the chances, and the choices I never had. That's all. And you'll have them, here. The fight isn't going anywhere. It'll still be there."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani let's go of her, remembering how quickly she ran after her parents hugged her, then slinks back to her chair, "Sorry." She offers quietly. "We hope the fight doesn't remain, we hope that it comes to an end and people stop hating each other. It won't happen, but sometimes we dream about it."
Clarice Ferguson     Clarice shifts in her chair for a moment before offering quietly, "Dyani... it's okay if you hug me. You surprised me, but I don't... mind." Rather than lingering on that moment of embarrassment, she instead quickly adds, "And I also hope the fight will end. I don't believe it ever really will - not entirely. But I hope I'm wrong."
Dyani Zitkala Shifting again, Dyani looks back toward the window. "You are not used to hugs, you don't like to be touched because it is unfamiliar, uncomfortable. We do not wish to make you feel that way, we forget that hugs are not always a good thing. It is a reaction to joy, but we can control it if we need to."
Clarice Ferguson     "No, I, umm..." Clarice begins, her tone uncertain, and her gaze shifted away from Dyani for the moment. "I'm unused to hugs," she admits. "But that- It doesn't mean that I don't like them. It just- it depends on who they're from, really."
Dyani Zitkala Her wings flutter a little behind her, "You just need more hugs?" She asks, studying Clarice. "Because you do not get many, so you need many to make up for it?" See, there's logic in her thinking, it just might not have been what she was leading too.
Clarice Ferguson     "I wouldn't say that!" Clarice protests - letting out a quiet laugh with a hint of a nervous edge. She's not sure she'd like it if Dyani tried to fill up her 'hug deficit.' In fact, she's pretty sure she'd hate it. "No, I just- When you want to hug me, you can hug me. If I don't want the hug, I'll ask you to stop. Okay? But no extra hugs to- to make up for the past. That sounds like... a lot."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani inches a little closer, a devilish little grin on her face, "So, we shouldn't just hug you at random unless we mean it?" She asks, shifting just a bit closer, then a bit more, then pounce... another hug. "We mean this one too!" she chimes with a laugh.
Clarice Ferguson     Clarice lets out a little laugh, but she returns this hug more readily. At least she knew it was coming this time. "Yes, you should really mean it. And just... not too often. And maybe not too unexpectedly. I don't know, we'll figure it out." Really, it's a very short list of people that she would accept hugs from. Two of them are in the building.
One of them is in orbit.
