Owner Pose
Terry O'Neil Terry hasn't been seen around the Embassy since they brought down Cassandra's doppelganger. A lot of things have happened, but between battling dream-lego-masters and a ghost trying to off his rock star friend, Terry felt he needed to come back to familiar shores for the holiday: New York City. This also meant, of course, that he could come and finally see the center at his leisure. The last time he was here there was a big party, and then he embarrassed himself thoroughly in front of Diana's mother. And then there was the ribbing he got from Lois for not securing an interview with Queen Hippolyta herself.

But today, he's just taking it easy. He's made a slow-paced tour of the first part of the arts center, and retired to the Taverna for some lunch. He had had an excellent breakfast thanks to Catman, but... he's a growing boy!

He is sitting at a table with a notebook full of his sketches of things he had seen at the Arts Center. He is no great artist, but they are accurate enough for his purposes. It doesn't help that his handwriting is so atrocious that to a casual reader it might as well be Greek.
Diana Prince There had been a small 4th of July celebration here at the Arts Center last night as well. It hadn't been overly publicized but those who came had enjoyed dinner and fireworks over the courtyard.

Today, it was business as 'usual' here in this new center, crowds of people milling about through the museum-like facility and enjoying their time within the Themyscira-centric grounds. If there was ever an Amazon theme park, this would be as close as you could hope for.

In the now, Diana is arriving through the main entrance of the cafe, the cafe being a bit quieter than normal but she's been wading through a crowd of people outside. Dressed in her Amazon armor, and robed-over in a royal blue poncho-style drape that covers her from the front and back, Diana walks in to the cafe and directs a family who had been unable to find it.

She spends time with the family, a mother and father and their three daughters, speaking to them near the counter and helping them choose what they want. It's a chance to meet and greet with the public, and it's something the Princess is very fond of doing.

It is, of course, hard for Terry to miss too.
Terry O'Neil Terry looks up when he hears a bit of the hustle and bustle. He had been trying to decypher his own handwriting that he had hastily scrawled, but he was very certain that he hadn't seen any 'blue ice hippos' anywhere in the center, which meant he had been especially hasty in writing that note. Its mysteries, perhaps, shall never be revealed now that his attention drifts away from the page and towards the blue-clad Amazon.

Stuffing his notebook into his satchel, he heads up to the counter with a bright grin. It's not as impressive as his grin when he's in Cheshire form, but he does his best anyways.

He waits his turn, like a good guest, only once the family has made its way to a table does he approach Diana.

"Well well, it's been a long time- or it just feels like a long time. It's been only a month, hasn't it?"
Diana Prince When Diana separates from the family she looks to her left to see Terry approaching and offers him a wide smile. They've gotten to become good friends since meeting, TErry even has a room of his own at the Embassy should he ever need a place to rest away from his other options.

"Terry." She says in a happy tone as she turns to offer him a light embrace, her armored forearms coming up out of the cloak she's wearing. When she pulls back she squeezes his shoulders. "I am very glad to see that you are here. I was worried that this place may not appeal to our closest friends and family." She gives another quick boost to her smile before looking around then.

"Have you been here long?" She asks there-after, placing her eyes back upon him. "I heard you had a good time at the party here, I hope... it was a good night for you too." How much does she know?! All of it!
Terry O'Neil It's taken about a year for Terry to lose his jitters around Diana. He will not faint at cloaks anymore, at least. A hug? No problem! Even if it's still pretty strange when you realize that this woman stands still in time, and the busy world of mortals flows and melts away from her, she unchanging, they returning to whence they came.

"Are you kidding? I love this place- I just haven't had a chance to visit because of so many things but I spent the morning going through the first tenth of the exhibits," yes, he took his time, "and now I'm having lunch here! Mom would be here too, except she's had to go on a last-minute trip to Georgia just now. A case of a missing child, potential swapping of babies in the hospital twenty years ago, and a distraught family looking for their missing heir. It's practically novelesque! Do you want to have something to eat with me?"

At the mention of the party, a hint of the old jitters come back. "Oh ,the party, it was phenomenal! I can't believe I actually met your mother... though I didn't really talk to her because Donna was talking so much. You know how she can be. Talk talk talk." He is definitely trying to deflect~ "So what would you recommend? I'm open to anything!" he says, glancing at the counter.
Diana Prince Diana's eyes can't help but widen at the bit about Terry's mother. "Really?" She says in a serious tone of voice. "That sounds, very important.." She nods her head a single time then. "I hope it turns out well."

She lets it lie there though as he asks her to joid she returns a soft smile to her lips, her hands going in front of herself to rumple the fabric of her cloak gently. "I'd be delight to." She says as she looks to the counter and the employees behind it who are happily waiting to serve the Princess, and Terry!

"It depends on how much you are looking to enjoy." Diana says as she stpe sofrwar dnt motions to the pastries. "I'll have this one." She points to a bowl of ice cream drizzled in a special made honey-based sauce." She looks to Terry and grins at him. "I came up with this, it's 'Diana's Delight'. Not precisely the best name, but it cuts straight to the point, I think."
Terry O'Neil "Then I'll have one as well," Terry says, "And some of that fruit juice, I'm thirsty."

"This is wild," he says as they make their way to the table, "I can sense something in those chandeliers up there... it's some sort of magic, isn't it? It's a little tingly even all the way over here... I wonder if it's the same material as your lasso." As he sits down, he glances at Diana and looks a little mortified, "Did Donna tell you what happened when I touched your lasso?" Donna is evil incarnate, so Terry has no doubt that she told her sister. If she didn't, though, it's better to give her his version instead of Donna's likely much-exaggerated, embarrassing one.

Ok, not exaggerated. Overaccurate is the word he's thinking.

"That's when I discovered that certain /things/ give me some pretty strange reactions."
Diana Prince The Princess gives a grin to the young man as he takes the same chioce of treats to enjoy. "It is not exactly a healthy meal, but it is a wonderful snack in the moment of a needful whim." She says in good humor befor eshe accepts it and then joins Terry as he references the light source above them. She smiles at this too before finding a place to sit in the taverna. "I suppose that depends on your definition of the word 'magic." She replyes, giving him a little grin. "It is a common typeo f light source on the island, the resources themselves coming from a number of different locations there."

Settling in at the table, Diana djusts her cloak and the lasso that IS hanging from her hip just beneath the blue fabric. She grins at the bit about Donna he spoke of moments ago and then shakes her head as she gathers up her spoon and looks down to the ice cream treat flecked with bits of sugary dough across the ice cream and honey drizzle. "She did not tell me what happened." She replies before taking up a spoonful and raising it up to her lips to sample it.

Her eyes come up after that and she places them upon him as she listens closely, enjoying the treat as she is attentive to him. When she clears her palette she raises her dark brows a little. "What kind of reaction?" The Princess asks next.
Terry O'Neil "It's alright, I burn off enough calories as it is traipsing around. I can afford a little indulgence here and there," the redhead says in good humor, and takes a few seconds to savor the treat, producing an almost inaudible 'mmmm' of appreciation. He takes to the taste so, that it requires two more spoonfulls before he answers.

"Well... this was when you were still in the infirmary..." the one that Terry populated with various plush characters. Wonder cat. Wonder dog. Wonder Elephant. Even Wonder bread. "And Donna had the idea to capture my doppelganger with it and force him to tell me how I could regain my powers. Well... it worked. And I transformed back into Cheshire form while holding the Lasso..."

And he leans back, looking at the ceiling for a second or two before continuing. "... and when I touched the lasso in that shape, I suddenly felt like I had spent hours driking and was as drunk as a skunk in a blue funk. I collapsed giggling and speaking incoherencies and Raven gave me this /look/..."

He shrugs, "So... your lasso is blessed by Hestia, isn't it? I wonder if it's because it's a holy item that it makes me loopy, or if it's the material."
Diana Prince The reaction that the ice cream dish gets out of the young man has the Princess showing an amused self satisfied smile across the table to him. "It's good, yes?" She asks. "I did not solely design it myself, I had help from a very good chef. One with horns, I am sure you know who." She grins softly before going silent again to listen closely.

While he speaks, she indulges in more of the dish herself with a few dips of her spoon and her eyes rising and falling throughout his words.

Eventually, she comes to glance down to the very lasso in question, the golden shimmering rope that is coiled up and hanging from her hip. "Well that is... unusual." She tells him. "I would not think it to be the material, but I do suppose it could be a factor of your power and it's origins. It could be that the lasso is unsure of who to compell to tell the truth when asked, since it... well you have a second persona of sorts. Of course it has not had that reaction to others with similar alternate personalities, or 'forms'. But..."

The Princess shakes her head and lowers her eyes gain to scoop up another spoonful of ice cream and sweetness. "Stranger things have happened." She says with a soft tone and a smirk following it. "Would you like to borrow it for drinking nights?" She asks with a grin for him. "Save on money, and caloric intake?"
Terry O'Neil Terry laughs, almost choking on his spoonful. "Oh god no. That is a /very/ bad idea. Do you realize that if /I/ get drunk and have your lasso, it is eventually going to end up in a game of Truth Or Dare?" He pauses, considering the people at the tower, and reconsiders, "I'm in,"

He glances down at the Lasso, and gets an idea. "Well.. it didn't hit me when I was in my human form. Granted, I had had the Cheshire stripped from me at the time... maybe I could touch it briefly now that I'm whole, and see if it has any effect?"
Diana Prince When he replies to her about the lasso and truth or dare, Diana just softly laughs while spooning at the ice cream in the glass dish, it's a melodic sound, filled with amusement. When she scoops up more cold treat she looks up again and raises it up toward her mouth. "I trust you more than most, even if you are in a state of inebrriation." She enjoys the spoonful and lets her eyes drop down again while she listens yet further.

At the suggestion of trying the lasso once more to see it's effect, Diana looks down to it where it resides, then back up and over to him. "Really?" She asks. "Did it go away the moment it left your touch?" She asks. "Or did it linger?" She asks further. Her eyees glance around the taverna and she looks down toward the ice cream once more.

She shakes her head. "I wouldn't recommend doing such a thing here, but perhaps in one of the lesser public areas. I would hate for you to suddenly fall in to... giggle fits in public?" She is still a bit unsure what all happens or happened.
Terry O'Neil "That... might be a wise thing. It did linger on for a /while/ after I touched it. I'm suspecting that it's due to my powers being linked to chaos magic... but the jury is still out on that." He has a mental image of him putting on a drunken gigglefits scene in the middle of the cafe, and admits Diana has a point.

"It'll still be two more years until I can go out drinking legally, come to think about it. I imagine there really isn't such a thing as legal drinking age in Themyscira, considering nobody is underage." He pauses. "Except Donna. When, you know, comparing..."
Diana Prince What he says has the Princess smiling as she shakes her head at the bit about drinking on Themyscira. "There is no drinking age on the island, no. The island inhabitants police themselves, so to speak, on what is appropriate behavior and what is not." She spoons another mouthful of ice cream and then glances away to wave at some people who are waving to her whilst they leave the taverna.

She glances back to Terry then. "Most of the time if someone on Themyscira gets drunk and makes a 'fool' of themselves, the teasing the following day is enough to make them regret the act and thusly... make it a much less likely thing to happen again any time soon. Of course, there are a number of notorious women who are not quite so easily shamed." She says with a grin of her sisters back home.

"That being said..." Diana readies her next words. "Perhaps we should wait for Donna to be with us before we test what would happen should you try touching the lasso again. She might be better prepared to take you home, should it go poorly." The Princess states with a growing grin toward the young man. "Do not think for a moment that I am not intrigued by this though. It is a first, so I am very curious." Leave it to the Princess to act cautiously about this!
