Daisy Johnson The words were still imprinted on her mind.

'The future is what you make of it.'

It was what the echoes had told her as they helped her during the attack on the Manhattan skyscraper, just before they faded forever. But their message still echoed in her mind. They had won against a powerful enemy, against all odds, preventing what happened in the Framework to become real in their world. It did not come without consequences though as Daisy had lost conscience soon after her effort, over a day spent unconscious and under care from the best SHIELD had to offer in terms of medical expertise, and that meant the rest of the Furiae and Bobbi.

She had woken up not too long ago, lying on a bed inside the medical bay of the Playground, the little 'beep' of the medical machines creating the rhythm that she had been listening to for the last few hours. It was a rhythm that would have to do to distract her for now, the lingering effects on her Song still disconcerting, her mind almost as if fractured. The remains of the echoes that were fading away.
Matt Murdock Matt had known Daisy was up to something big when he heard that song resonate through the city, and shortly after he had it confirmed when Foggy called telling him about seeing Daisy on the news. Matt had hung up and left almost immediately rushing to the source of the song but by then it was over and SHIELD was pulling back to their planes he didn't try to board but instead pulled his burner phone from his suit and called Bobbi Morse, and she came through tasking one of the reserve quinjets with picking him up from the top of a building, the agents never asking how a blind guy got up there in the first place, they just flew him to the Playground and showed him on to the lab. So when she's awoken for a few minutes he's walking through the door, seeing her stirring he doesn't pretend he can't see her for the other people in the room and rushes to her bedside. "Daisy, I'm here," he tells her, taking her hand in his trying to feel her vibrations and get a sense of how she is.
Daisy Johnson Daisy's mind is still blurry, too many voices adding to it, memories of old mingled with her own memories of what they had done. She was close to certain that victory had been achieved by them if she did not yet know the fate of the other teams. No debrief as of yet. But maybe they did not want to disturb her. It might be a good thing if there had been casualties... She suddenly feels a tight grief, one that ripples through her vibrations but soon enough she finds the familiar greeting of Matt's own signature.

What is he doing here?

"Matt?" She appears confused. This still a SHIELD base. "What are you doing here?" still she smiles up at him, clearly glad at the man being here. It's a weak smile though and there's no strength in her hand, the woman still truly exhausted, spent after all the efforts of the mission they were in.

"We won."
Matt Murdock Matt can feel grief filled vibrations passing from Daisy into him, they almost bring tears to his eyes but he fights them off with the simple joy of her being here, alive, though even that threatens to make him spill a happier sort of tears. "Bobbi let me come, told her she could blindfold me so I wouldn't know the way to your base," he says not able to not share the joke with Daisy. "And I know, it's all over the news, you guys did it, you guys clawed your way back out of the shadows," he says a smile of his own on his lips, at once both proud and relieved. "And a bunch of people were talking about you, it sounds like you flew?" he asks, both curious and concerned.
Daisy Johnson A wheeze that sort of resembles a chuckle escapes Daisy's throat, her expression turning to a more gentle one, perhaps finding comfort with Matt's presence here. There's the feeling of a squeeze from her fingertips on Matt's own hand, "Fifty fifty on either she groaned or hit you." a beat, "Maybe both..." she then looking a touch surprised. "On the news?"

Some memories of all the people around do come back to her, "Ah..." she says, "So much for being spies and doing it subtly, eh?" But the news about them being out of the shadows does seem to bring an upbeat vibration out of the young agent.

"They all did it then. Good. I have yet .., to get briefed on what went on. I have been on and off from sleeping. I don't .., really remember."

Flying though? "The other echoes. They came and help me. They .., offered me their last energy." she grits her jaw tight, "... they are fully gone now. Including Fu.." the unstoppable echo.
Matt Murdock "Both," Matt confirms with a wry smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. Squeezing her hand he says, "Yeah, the news, you know people and their cellphones," he says before squeezing her hand again. "But yeah I don't know all you were planning but the building is safe and the casualties were way less than they could have been, you guys were all heroes." And Daisy would know how seldom the Defenders used the H word.

"So they're gone? They gave up all their energy to help you do what you did?" he asks gently, puting aside his cane to take her hand in both of his.
Daisy Johnson "The H word..." That makes Daisy chuckle again, trying to lift her head to peer over to the door of the room. " ... careful that you don't have JJ behind you to berate you for saying that." she knows how *that* would go! Once the effort is done (without much success) she returns to relaxing on the bed, letting out a tired sigh. "The worst thing about being here is that I just know there will be pudding ..., have you seen the pudding in this place..?"

Her gaze goes unfocused a moment before she again looks up to Matt, "They are.." she says, "I still feel some remnants, and I have been seeing some .., odd things.. But other than that I know they are gone. Their energy has dissipated." she exhales slowly.

"Just like one day my echo will linger, and I will help our descendents.." she squeezes Matt's hand again.
Matt Murdock "We flew about fifteen minutes south-west and even with the turns they did to try and throw me off I'd say we're in Delaware, so I don't think Jess would come down here even to kick my butt for saying the H-word," he assures her. "We're probably safe. From her at least, I can't promise about the pudding, but if they've got something better around here I'll track it down for you, like Jello, what's your vote on Jello, better or worse?" he asks before they're shifting to more serious topics.

Grabbing a chair and sliding it next to her bed, he continues to hold her hand once seated. "Our descendants huh?" he asks with a warm smile. "That you're way of saying you want to have kids someday?" he doesn't sound put off, "And how does the echo thing work? What are they?"
Daisy Johnson "Guess the blindfold didn't work then..." This about Matt figuring out they are in Delaware. Daisy does smirk in the end though, then pondering a bit on the Jello. "I'd say.., depends on the flavor? How about strawberry." she suggests. Perhaps mission Retrieve-Strawberry-Jello is a go. "Does that mean you are going to hang around for now?" she asks, following the man with her eyes as he walks to get a chair to settle down. That seems to answer her question!

As for the kids? She smiles, "Maybe I am. But ask me again when I can actually move.." maybe she is getting ready for that next step.

The echoes have her consider, "They are the previous owners of the Song. It's a power that has been a constant in the Inhumans since .., their beginning I think. At least since they started walking the earth. Though as each of them eventually die their essence carries on, ready to pass on their teachings to a new generation. And some of those I saw were *old*. It's as Jia said, we have been here for ..., a long time." she looks to the door again and then back. "Which speaking of ..., did you see Bobbi when you came in? I should talk to her, she did something during the mission that I am uncertain what it was.."
Matt Murdock "Guess not," Matt says with a smile about the blindfold. "Don't worry I don't know the exact location, but it seems like that doesn't matter, I doubt you guys will be hunted for too much longer," he says as for the Jello, he does leave briefly to fetch it, returning with a successful conclusion to mission Retrieve-Strawberry Jello, he returns with two little Jello cups strawberry for Daisy, Lime for him and two small spoons. He sets that all down to talk about the echoes.

"So it's like your soul?" he asks her. "That's kinda intense, and quite a sacrifice your predecessors made to help save the day, a shame they're gone though, it sounds like they carried a lot of knowledge."

He shakes his head, "No, no sign of Bobbi, but what did she do?"

As for kids, "Alright, we'll talk when we get home, I'm game for it, when the time is right, I mean we can't be the worst parents, we raised Boxer okay."
Daisy Johnson "You didn't need to had gone *right* now but .... Thank you." Daisy will certainly accept it! Not that she attacks the Jello but she does give it a look even if her focus returns to the conversation. "I am not sure if it's my soul or .., various souls together, or just all part of the Song of the Universe." she says, "I never fully got to that part of the lessons but ..., I am hoping I at least know enough now to carry on.." lots of responsibility on her shoulders too apparently. Or at least it's something that she feels on them.

"Maybe one day I will be the one in the Cup, acting all wise and offering wisdom.." her tone on the last part of that does grow challenging, almost as if daring Matt to contest her wisdom! She can have wisdom....

"I think she used her powers on me. She unlocked something, and I don't really understand well what it was yet. But for a moment I was seeing those Kree words she does, and I was understanding them. I will need to talk to her once I am out of here.." and just on cue she tries to see if she can sit up. Nope, she doesn't even get halfway there. " .... eventually.."

The talk about Boxer has her chuckle, "He's a strapping young cat, I wish I was around more to watch him grow though.."
Matt Murdock "Figured we could eat and talk, besides I skipped lunch for a client meeting," he says with a shrug, spooning green jello into his mouth.

"I'm sure even if you don't know enough now, you'll figure it out, it's what you do, Daisy, maybe that's part of the reason you got the song, that you could carry on from this point even without the guidance from the cup."

There's no challenge to Daisy's claim on wisdom, just a wide and cheeky grin that suggests he's at least thinking his challenges to the idea.

He tries to steady her before she falls back down but falls short, "Take it slow, you'll be out of here soon, SHIELD's got the best medical tech, if anyone can help you it's SHIELD.

"Well, if I see Bobbi around I'll send her down here, I'd like to hear what she has to say too, what can you tell me about what she did, you saw the writing, but anything else?

He smiles about their cat, "I know you are, I got Foggy and Karen to take lots of pictures and video and Karen put a whole album online for you to check out," he pulls out his phone and fires the link off to Daisy. "For when you're cooped up here healing up," he explains. "And don't worry I'm sure when you get home he'll be after you for all the snuggles and scritches you owe him. He's very strict about that sort of thing."
Daisy Johnson Lifting her arm up Daisy brings the jello close to her with some difficulty, spoon in and she looks at it with a bit of a ravenous look. She *is* hungry. She hasn't eaten in over a day she imagines. And strawberry jello will just do the trick... All the sugar... Mmhmmm...

"I felt she boosted me up, or at least made it easier for me to listen to the song. Might be what enabled me to be able to call the other echoes.." she ponders a moment, "Maybe she had me skip ahead some teaching lessons like a cheat..., not sure if it will last though. I feel my connection weak. But sometimes .., it's almost as if I can see the vibrational patterns instead of things, or people. It's .., strange."

And it doesn't seem she can explain what *that* is at all.

"I really can't wait to go home..." she then finally says, wistful.
Matt Murdock "Need me to help with that?" Matt asks leaning forward seeing her struggle with the jello.

"Well it seems like whatever she did helped you save a lot of people's lives Daisy," he says, "As for the rest, this is way over my head."

Or maybe not.

The bit about seeing patterns not people strikes a cord.

"I can relate," he says attention wandering slightly as he scans their surroundings for people within earshot, finding none he continues. "My powers work in a similar way, after my accident my senses got sharper but I also got this other sense that's like a part of me is touching all of my surroundings at once and using that to draw a map in my head, of people, places whatever, down to fine details my other senses just sort of colour it in. So I definitely understand what you're talking about, so do you see like that all the time now?"

Though the remark about going home isn't ignored, "When do you think they'll let you leave?" he asks her. "Because as soon as they do I'll be happy to take you home."
Daisy Johnson "I won't say no..." So indeed it seems Daisy will be spoonfed the jello. Not that she appears to mind. Too ravenous for it. The question about powers does have her answer with, "It's .., similar to that. But it comes and goes, and I feel like it's fading. I don't think it's staying." a beat, "It's just the .., echoes of those gone. Their combined powers. At least that's what I think. but what do I know..." just an hint of frustration there about their powers.

Still, her happiness returns quickly enough. A weight has been lifted off her shoulders, "Now that we are out of the dark we can properly return to being what we are supposed to be. SHIELD."

"May take me a few days still, or not. No idea. Simmons should come by soon .., I hope?", then a grin, "I am glad you came."
Matt Murdock "Sure thing," Matt grins of feeding her Jello. "Then maybe I can give you a sponge bath," he teases but he follows through with the jello taking the cup and spoon from her, "Want me to make airplane noises?" he asks with a grin, but blessedly stays quiet as he feeds her a spoon full of jello. "I can understand that, i think I even felt it in your vibrations," he says putting down the Jello to take her hand again. "We'll figure things out," he promises.

"I'm glad, I know you love SHIELD, I'd be pissed if I couldn't do my jobs either, but soon enough you'll be out there again, in the open saving the world."

As for him coming, he shakes his head. "Where else was I going to go when I heard what happened, I wanted to be here for you and if they let me stay I'll be right here until they kick us both out of here," he squeezes her hand. "Not going to leave you," he wrinkles nose and grins, "I know how you get bored," he jokes.
