Dyani Zitkala Dyani and Madison had just finished another archery lesson, and now they were about to attack the fresh cookies that Dyani's mother had sent. Although the dorm room wasn't all that welcoming, the bed was comfortable for sleeping and sitting on, and since Dyani didn't have a roommate right now, that meant there were two beds for relaxing on.

"Madi," Dyani begins, after devouring a cookie. Oatmeal with chocolate chips. "You have to eat at least four, that's the correct number, our human mother says so."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie would have got permission to visit, not sneaking into a young girls dorm, no leave that to the younger dumber young me. He checked up on Dyani, and now figuring she has had a chance to settle in, he thought he would check in on her. He was taught to be a good guest though, so has a basket with a few gifts in it, as he makes his way up to knock on her door.
Madison Evans     "//My// human mother insists it's two," Madison counters. "But I like your mother's notion more." She's happily savoring one of the cookies - sitting on the bed across from Dyani with a warm, friendly smile on her features. "My mom is always trying to do things like replace the oil with applesauce, and reduce the added sugars, and all that nonsense. These ones are good, though," she remarks before taking another bite - her gaze swinging towards the door at the sound of the knock.
Dyani Zitkala Both sets of Dyani's wings stick straight out from her body at the sound of the knock on the door, and she turns her head to look at it like the door itself made the noise. Only then does her brain register it was someone knocking, so she flitters up and over to open the door.

"Oh!" She squeaks, canting her head. "Sam... come in!" She doesn't have to move much to make room for him to enter. "Madison, this is Sam... Sam, this is Madi."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smiles and says "Hey Dyani," He offers her a smile and a one armed hug holding the basket in his other hand. He looks over to Madison and offers a nod in greeting "Hello, Madison." He offers in greeting. Then to Dyani he will ask her "How you doing kiddo, I thought I would come check up on ya."
Madison Evans     "Oh, hi!" Madison greets Sam with a bright voice - lifting a hand to wave it at him casually, "Umm, just Maddie's fine. I'm Dyani's friend. You're - erm - a friend too?" she asks a little uncertainly. After all, he certainly wasn't part of her 'human family.' He was too... blonde. "We're eating cookies. I'm sure Dyani'll share, I've never seen her be anything other than welcoming - except to Gary." She bursts into a giggle at that last bit.
You either get it - or you don't.
Dyani Zitkala Dyani immediately points around the room, at the posters, at her trunk of archery gear. "This is all our space! We will probably have a roommate some day, but right now this is all our space. We are doing good," she flitters over to chair at the desk and pulls it out so Sam can sit there if he wants.

"Chair, bed, you can sit where you want... oh! Did you know we can see now?" She points to the visoggles on her face. "Doctor McCoy made them for us, which means I can do archery again! Why did you bring a basket?"

Already holding out the tin with cookie in it toward Sam, she looks to Madison. "I know Sam from..." Her brain skids to a stop before she manages to shift the gears to, "er... another school. And Gary was dumb! He deserved out arrow to the family package!"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie starts to say something as he moves to sit in the chair, but at the words of an arrow in the family package his brow raises quite a bit "Well something like that Ah would hope he did something more than be dumb to get that." He smiles and says "My Ma, taught me when your visiting someone to bring them a gift, so I brought you a few things." He smiles and opens the basket, and first thing he brings out may look a little odd, but it is a small flower pot with a bit of flowering ground covering planted in it. Dyani will recognize it as the type that was near one of her hives at the school. "It is good to see he got them working for you, so I take it they work well if your shooting.. packages."
Madison Evans     "It was blunted," Madison supplies helpfully, before adding with as much anger as the young girl has ever been heard to voice, "He wanted to know why the mutie deserved to breathe. He was //sick jerk//. And he was on our school grounds, so..." She shrugs her shoulders. "We made sure he left."
Looking between Dyani and Sam she adds, "Dyani hasn't told me much about her other school - but I'm glad she's here! It's always good having more friends, you know? And Happy Harbor's great. I mean, I'm sure the other school's great, too..."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani bursts into a fit of goggles, then moves over to look at the flower. "Oh Sam! The hive /love/ that flower! Thank you!" And he gets hugged, around the pot and basket. "We see very well now, which has allowed us to go back to practicing, and Gary happened to be mean and call me a mutie, not that we knew what that was, while we were teaching Madie how to shoot." She stomps her foot once, but even then she doesn't look all that angry, she just can't look angry, even when she is.

"Being bluntedm it was more like a punch, and very large and coming right as us... so POW, eye then package to take him down."

Looking back to Madison she tilts her head, "We liked the other school, it has a very big garden, but... we had troubles understanding all the 'keep it quiet' stuff and the other students had troubles understanding us, and one was /really/ mean to our hive Clarice, and we could not tolerate that."

Now her wings flutter and she looks back to Sam, "How are you? We are very happy to see you."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smiles and hugs her back, and says "Well, I figured you might like them to have the hive near it." He offers with a smile. He also pulls out a small cooler back, that he offers it to her. Inside is two medium sized mason jars with Sam made extra sweet tea in them. "Private schools can have a lit of rules, and to be honest, Dyani getting to know more diverse people is a good thing. Ah heard around here you can be a bit more open about things, do you have many anti mutant folks giving you grief?"
Madison Evans     "I mean, I haven't run into a lot of that, but I'm not a mutant, so..." Madison gives a shrug of her shoulders. "I do hang around with some, but here on campus - that's just not on, you know? The Headmistress wouldn't stand for anything like that." She finishes off her first cookie, watching as Sam offers over the two jars of tea. Was it... a kombucha homebrew? Probably not. That's more her mom's speed.
Dyani Zitkala Dyani ooooohs and bounces in place excitedly. "Sweet tea! Sweet tea! We love sweet tea!" She bounces right over to her desk to get some of those red solo cups, so she can share the sweet tea with everyone. "Miss Rogue taught us how to make the best sweet tea in the world, and they do have so many rules... so, so many."

Dyani's mantra is share everything, always has been, so the sweet tea goes into the solo cups and both Sam and Madison get offered one. "Ms MacIntyre is /so/ cool! We have not once been bullied by anyone at the school, these boys were football players from another high school. You will love this tea Madi, your mother would hate it."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie chuckles a bit and does take it "Not sure if you would have a mini fridge or anything so I made sure had it in the cooler, so it would stay cool." He grins a bit and does bring out is some more cookies, a medium tupperware container of them "My girlfriend's grandmother sent us a lot of cookies, and thought I would being you some of them. They are Italian cookies." He explains "I aint going to be getting Maddie here in trouble with bringing you to many sweets am I?"
Madison Evans     "Only if I tell my mother!" Madison crows brightly. "Which - I'm not gonna. Besides, I work it all off. I've been doing a lot of exercising lately. I'm learning how to sword fight so I can join a lightsaber dueling club." Yup. That's why - but given she's wearing her 'I never received my Hogwarts letter so I left the Shire to become a Jedi' shirt - it's completely believable.
Accepting the cup, she takes a sip of the tea. "Woooo - that //is// sweet!" she agrees. "My mom would never make something like this."
Dyani Zitkala Dyani giggles again before sitting on the bed beside the chair Sam is sitting in. "Madi's mother is one of those people who believes that sugar is the devil, and is way, way, WAY to strict about it. We don't let Madi get too off track, just in case, but once in a while we go all out."

Now she eyes the Italian cookies, and inches a little closer. "We have never had Italian cookies, are they good?" It didn't matter if they were good or not, she would still eat them, they are sugar which is the only thing she really needs to keep her body going. "Who is your girlfriend, Sam?" She then asks, just bluntly, not seeming to care if that's something he might not want to talk about.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie will pull out his phone and pull up a picture of him and Allegra "Her name is Allegra Caradenza, she and Ah have a place in little Italy in New York. She is teaching ballet and some other types of dances there." He offers in explanation "If either of you are interested let me know, and will get you the phone number for the club." He looks over to Maddison "Dancing rhythm can help with your sword fighting, learning where your whole body is while moving." He offers seeming to be talking from experience. "As for sugar, Ah grew up in the south, and sweet tea is pretty much in the fridge at all times." He ponders a moment, and says "And while her dad is anti mutant, she and Ah aint, so you coming would not be a problem Dyani."
Madison Evans     "Oh. Well - I mean, dancing isn't really my thing," Madison admits. And she's already pretty busy between school work, and ninja training, and Spidey training, "But maybe!" she agrees. "Umm. Except- well. I don't really have a job, and I'm not sure mom would want to spring for lessons," she admits. "But I'm sure you'll find //loads// of students."
She does politely peer at the picture, adding, "Sure nice of her to share the cookies - I mean, since they were meant for her. Right?"
Dyani Zitkala Dyani stares at the picture of Allegra, then looks back up at Sam. "She's pretty," she offers, before shoving one of the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies toward Sam. "Why is her father anti-mutant? We wouldn't want to upset him by existing, our human mother says it is important to be cordial to people, and our human father always adds, unless they are not nice to you, then you defend yourself."

She takes a drink of the sweet tea. Honestly she could add more sugar, but it was still very good. "We do not think we can dance, we are a bit of a clutz and use our wings to keep from falling over. We could maybe try dancing, but we also know that our parents cannot afford much."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Well if your interested in it, I am pretty sure I know someone who can get you a deal on the classes." He tells both of them. "Sadly some people hate or fear us mutants for no reason, other than they have to hate or fear something." He tells them. He puts a hand softly on Dyani's shoulder "Be it cause we look different, can do things they can not, or even some just for something to hate sadly."
Madison Evans     "So, you're a mutant like Dyani?" Madison asks in a curious tone. He doesn't look like it so that means, "So you can do something?" That's immediately followed by, "Sorry, was that rude? I don't mean to be rude. I mean, I just wondered 'cuz- well. Powers are pretty cool, honestly. I saw Dyani turn into a bunch of bees and fly around once. It was pretty impressive!"
Dyani Zitkala Studying Sam's face, Dyani tilts her head again. She doesn't need to do that to see any more, but it has been such a habit after four years, that she just does it now like it's natural. "Some people also like to kidnap us and make us to bad things," she adds to Sam's list, but in a way too cheerful tone. "Human people hate each other too, for the color of skin or which God they believe in. Hate is a part of the world, its what we do with that hate that matters. If we hate back, we make more hate, so we love em all soooo much they cannot do anything about it." She smiles brightly, then bites into a cookie.

"Or they can keep hating us, and try to hurt us, and we will sting the ever loving sheets out of them." She nods curtly once then looks to Madison. "That is really all we can do, turn into a swarm of stinging insects, it is not all that special."

Back to Sam, bouncing where she sits. "If you can arrange a discount, maybe we can learn to dance and help with our coordination, which we have very little of."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods, and says "Yes, I am, I can fly as well, in fact Ah owe Dyani a bit of flying with her sometime." He admits, and says "And Allegra's Nona made enough of the cookies to last us for months." He answers that question a little late. To Dyani he nods, and says "We try to show people all people deserve a chance no mater what they look like. And you are special, but not just cause of your mutation, your special cause your you, as all people are special."
Madison Evans     "Turning into a bunch of bees is objectively //awesome//, Dyani!" Madison says with enthusiasm. "I can't do anything like that! Or fly at all. Don't sell yourself short! Plus, you're sooooo good with archery. I'm going to get their, eventually. When we'll show that Hawkeye Avenger guy a thing or two - you know?" she suggests with a broad grin.
    Right. As if.
"Can I go flying too?" she asks Sam eagerly. "I mean. If it's not that big of a bother. I've never been flying before! It looks fun."
Dyani Zitkala Another giggle and Dyani pats Sam on the arm. "We remember you said that! Because we were complaining about not getting to fly much as much as we would like. We can fly more now, but we would /love/ to go flying with you!"

She looks over at Madison, "We cannot carry others, we are not very strong... we wonder how many bees it would take to lift someone. We have a lot of them now in the hives, probably too many... we may need to build another one." After she's distracted by that for a moment, and another sip of the tea is taken, she looks back to Sam and, "Oh! Can you carry people? Madi is not that big, and she will not wiggle, right Madi?"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smiles and nods his head a bit and says "Yes, I can carry people pretty easily, I could carry you both, and if we were to fly at my top speed I would need to." He looks over to Dyani, and says "Have you been working on trying to fly while your one Dyani and not separate bees?" He looks over to the two and says "There somewhere around here where we could fly where you would not get in trouble if we were flying?"
Madison Evans     Madison bounces on the bed - literally bounces in her seated position from her excitement. "Yes! Yes there is! The track 'n field!" she suggests eagerly. "And I sweeeeear I won't wiggle much and Dyani you think you could take a video of me flying around with your friend Sam?" she asks - beaming broadly. Cookies and sweet tea are completely forgotten in light of this exciting new possibility.
Dyani Zitkala Excitement causes Dyani to spring into the air, straight up, wings fluttering and of course she slams her head on the ceiling. "Ow! Yes, we have been practicing a great deal," she drops back down the ground by Sam. "The track and field area, the football field, out the window... no, Ms MacIntyre asked us not to do that, we scared one of the teachers and caused an anxiety attack. That is not good."

She sets the cup of tea on her desk, "You fly very fast Sam? We are getting faster... ask Madi, we beat her in a race, but only because she tripped over a rock."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods his head and says "Ah can slow down somewhat, ya, but Ah fly very fast." He will finish his tea and offers the basket to Dyani "The basket is for you as well." He looks over to Maddie "Well she might be able to take your picture at low speeds, high speed you would probably need to do a selfie, and hold onto your phone tightly."
Madison Evans     "That fast?" Madison asks. This seems to thrill her - not put her off. She bounces fully to her feet now. "This is going to be //great//!"
Grinning towards Dyani she adds, "That stupid rock. We should try our race again! This time on the track field so I can't trip on anything! I'll beat you for //sure//," she asserts.
Dyani Zitkala Dyani stares at the basket, and even that makes her exited. "Really?! This is the perfect storage basket! Are you sure? You could use it again." Even as she's asking if he's sure and pointing out he can use it again, it is disappearing under her desk to be added to her collection of things that are all her's... but she had to be polite, even if deep down she didn't mean it.

"We can take a video if he slows down, but really fast not likely." She collects her phone from the desk as well, then looks back between the two others like they are being slow. "So... we going? We are ready to fly and be out flown, and then perhaps race Madi and smoke her again."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smiles a bit and says "Sure, as long as you two don't need to be in class or something." He will stand and look to them "Lead the way." He will motion for them to lead.
Madison Evans     That seems to be all the invitation Madison needs! She hurries to the door, opens, and then starts sprinting down the hall - pausing at the end to glance back towards Sam and Dyani. She's surprisingly quick - certainly not a speedster by any stretch, but faster than you'd expect the girl to be. Maybe she's actually in track and field? Once she's sure she's not going to lose them, she begins running again - out of the building, and towards the field.
Dyani Zitkala Once Madison shoots out of the room, Dyani looks to Sam and says, very seriously. "Madison thinks she is a Jedi. We do not fully understand it, but her powers lead toward that sort of thing. If she mentions it, just nod and accept."

Now that he knows the expectations placed on him by a fifteen year old mutant bee girl, she zips out the door, her feet never touching the ground. Seems she had been practicing.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods a bit and will follow them, luckily Sam is a sci-fi fan himself, so he knows pretty much how to handle Jedi. He smiles watching the bee girl and takes his time but follows along
Madison Evans     Once on the field, Madison stops in the middle of it - bouncing up onto thhe tips of her toes and beaming in her excitement. She's going to get to fly! This was going to be //even better// than swinging with not-actually-Spidey! Wasn't it? "Okay. What do I need to do? How does this work? Dyani, you're ready to film it, right? I mean - you could take a video of us taking off and everything - O. M. G., Emma is absolutely going to flip!" she says eagerly.
And yes. She did just say the letters.
Dyani Zitkala Dyani zips after Madison out to the field, grateful there was no rain tonight. Already pulling her phone out she nods to Madison, "We are ready when Sam and you are," she says with a bounce in place and cheer in her tone. "We will film you taking off and flying around a little, then we will join you and see how fast Sam can go. We want to learn real speed."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Ok ok." He will remove his jacket, and move near the benches "Ok, well the easiest way to do this, is you get to play Yoda, to my Luke." He thumbs towards his back.
Madison Evans     "Absolutely!" Madison agrees. She closes the distance between them but - to her credit - she asks, "Ready?" and waits for his response before leaping up onto his back. Hopefully he's braced himself, because she's not a slight little thing like Dyani. Unsure what this will be like she tries to find as firm a grip on him as she can - without throttling him. Because throttling people is //rude.//
Dyani Zitkala Dyani is already filming, always good to have a little lead up footage, but to make it even better she starts commentating, "What we have here is Madison about to go flying for the first time, thanks to Sam. Sam's really nice, and friendly, he agreed to take her... wave Sam."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie will wave for a moment, and then reaches to grab Maddison's legs, and makes sure she does not fall. Then the orange glow starts to cover them, and with a roar they are off, higher than the skyscrapers in just a moment, he will move to level off, so she is more sitting on his back than holding on as he does a good couple miles lap.
Madison Evans     "WHOOOOOOA!" Madison exclaims as they shoot off - a broad grin splitting her features. This was wild - absolutely wild. She lets out a loud, excited giggle, and then slightly belatedly adds, "To infinity - AND BEYOND!" I mean, sure he's not Buzz Lightyear. But it feels like the sort of thing you should shout when blasting off like that, doesn't it?
"You do this all the time?!" she asks. "Is it tiring?"
Dyani Zitkala Dyani got it, every two seconds of it. She did her best to keep the little camera on them as they disappeared into the sky, adding perhaps another five seconds, but she does it... then she stands there, wings twitching, and puts the phone back into her pocket. With the fall weather, the bees were slowing down, needing to get deep inside the hive and keep warm, which meant she was a little cold herself. Looking up into the sky, she had no idea where they went but she'll wait.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie will do a lap or to, and then heads back to the ground, and luckily the young man can do much better than when he was younger he reverts to feet first and with a few bursts of his power he lands beside Dyani, instead of plowing a field through the track and field area.
Madison Evans     "That! Was! AMAZING!" Madison says brightly, as she hops down from Sam's back, and holds up a hand to offer him an enthusiastic high five. "Wow. Whoa. //Wow//. I mean - gosh, what must've it been like doing //that// for the first time?!" she asks - bursting into another loud giggle. "You've got no chance of keeping up with him, Dyani! Wow!" As she's chattering, she's bouncing excitedly on her toes, unable to keep still after such an experience.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smiles a bit and says "It is about like running to me, if I do it a lot will get somewhat tired out, but I can blast about for a while." He does not add in the whole flying through things. He looks to Dyani and says "You want to see life at near Mach?"
