Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie is at work, having flown in from his apartment to an alley nearby and walked the rest of the way. Sam has been doing good, but knowing they don't get a lot of business this shift, he has brought his backpack, so he might study some.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith has been very good about being on time to work when she's scheduled to work which she is tonight. She's wiped off the tables half a dozen times since she got there and made sure the handful of customers have enough drinks to keep them happy before borrowing the unused pool table to bounce around the balls and practice making them ricochet accurately.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over at her and smiles a bit. He has a little wooden box out and since no one is needing a new drink, he is sitting there trying to pick the lock on the box.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith looks over at the bar as she tries to make a shot without looking, "Whatcha got there, Sam?" The click of two balls striking together makes her look back at the table and put a little fist-pump in the air.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Ororo gave it to me to practice on, figured it was a good skill to work on and when I got them all done, supposed to take it back to her.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith gestures to the table and says, "I am just about ready to try this on a real corner with the real thing, I think. Just need the spotter and a good place to practice."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit and will check to see if anyone needs anythign and then walks over to check out Tabby's shots.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith stands at one corner of the pool table with a ball in her hand then closes her eyes and says, "Pick a pocket, Sam. I know all the angles at this point."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie hmms and nods "Bottom left." He tells her and will move one ball that is on the table, that with a good shot should still miss it but if off might get in the way
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith takes a deep breath then rolls the ball firmly along the table to bounce off the far short-rail and head for the indicated pocket. The roll is not so straight then it doesn't click on the other ball but there's enough force in the roll to force the ball out of it's way without deflecting much. The ball doesn't actually fall into the pocket but it hits it before being bounced off one corner to hit the other and stop. There's a hint of a grimace when Tabby doesn't hear the sound of a ball falling into the pocket.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over, and says "Your getting good thats for sure, and you did not throw something at me for messing with the shot, Ah am impressed
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith opens her eyes for a peek then says, "Well I missed it pool-wise but honestly if I put a timebomb that close, it wouldn't matter I didn't put it exactly where I wanted. Not really."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit to this and walks over and smiles "Your improving a lot hon, proud of ya."
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith flashes him a little grin, "That's almost as good as getting a real prize or something. Feels good when you're proud of me actually."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks to her, and says "Well you know I know what your capable if, and want you to let everyone up to see it to." He grins at says "So what else you been doing?
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith stops playing with the balls and begins gathering them up up so she can drop them in the rack as if setting up for a game. "Can you believe they asked me to teach students? Freshman Urban survival. Sophmores too."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods, and says "You could do it, might even want to talk to Allegra for a bit of help if you need, it. You know she was living on the streets and in a gange when we met."
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith waves off the offer of help, "I might take up that offer when it comes time for their final. I'm going to drop them off in Central Park with no phones or money and have them make it back to campus on foot without anyone else's help. We'll need people to keep track of them in case there's real trouble."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie hmms and nods a bit "Wonder if we could get ahold of Taki, and get him to set up some tracers for us.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith glances back at the room then nods, "That is not a bad idea. If I could I'd fit them with something to make sure they don't use their powers too."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods and will think about it for a moment and leads back tot he bar to make sure if anyone needs drinks "I would say they should be able to but not any transportation ones."
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith tilts her head, "You think so? I was thinking using powers would undermine their ability to prove they learned the lessons of the class. I know mine would." She follows him back to the bar then holds up a finger and makes a round of the occupied tables to make sure nobody's feeling neglected.
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Possible, but chances are if they are having to survive in the city they would still have their powers, maybe bonus points for not using them
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith nods, "I could tell them not to use them but then not penalize them if they do I suppose."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit "Just give bonus for those who don't maybe a better reward. Tickets to a concert or something?"
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith smirks at him as she comes back to the bar, "And who am I gonna steal those from?"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Well, Ah happen to know a couple people, maybe see if Guido can score us some.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith grins, "My students will love you for the suggestion I think. When are they gonna ask you to teach something I wonder. Though I guess I'm living there full time unlike you."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie smiles and says "I help with some of the flying classes, even went out and checked on one of our students who transferred to Happy Harbor recently
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith rolls her eyes at the mention of Happy Harbor then says, "Oh yeah? I haven't been paying attention I guess. I didn't realize anyone had."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods "Dyani, little bee girl." She seems to enjoy it there so it seems like it might have been a good change for her.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith snaps her fingers and points at him, "Right. I saw her out the window once, but I never actually got the chance to meet her." That draws a flicker of grimace, "I should make more effort to meet the students I guess."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie says, "Ah got to meet her once, nice kid, with flying so offered some help, and did not have a lot of friends, so Ah tried to help her out ya know?"
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith nods, "Good to have friends at a place like Xavier's. Too bad she couldn't make it." She comes around behind the bar to whisper, "You know Jimmy's taken to hiding stakes in my room?"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie 's brow raises a bit "He worried about Jubes?" He asks her with a bit of concern showing
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith nods a little, "I figure I could handle any trouble she brings without resorting to that kinda of stuff, but he wanted to make sure I guess. Not sure what he's seen that I haven't. I don't spend a lot of time around Jubes lately."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie says, "I don't think she would cause of family and all. plus I would wager some of the higher up may have put some kind of mental stops on her"
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith nods, "That too, but you know how Jimmy is about trusting things to other people. Well that's gotten worse since they took him. You'd think studying to be a social worker would help... or maybe not. They do tend to see the worst things in life."
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit to this "Well if anything I can do to help let me know."
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith glances over at the clock as the last actual customer makes his way out of the bar then looks back, "Maybe just spend some time with him? He's been behind in his classes so he probably needs a break from it soon. You think we could get away with closing a bit early?"
Sam Guthrie Sam Guthrie nods, a bit and says "Sure, we maybe can do a guys night out or sometime.
Tabitha Smith Tabitha Smith steps away from the bar to make her final round of the tables to collect tips and clean up. "That sounds good, Sam. I'm sure he'd appreciate it."
