Bando George     Bando was hanging out with friends. That was it! He's not being reckless! But then something happened. Amazing how things happen a lot when you're a superhero.

-I think *book emoji* *Cop emoji* gonna happen at the Knowhere Bowl *active link*. I hrd deesguys, and 1 ment ur dad and meeting sum1. Mebe notin, *shrug emoji*???.

The text is shot off, and Bando keeps bowling. He's up to a 67 on the fifth frame! It's like, a new record. Brand new jeans, brand new green and gray hoody. Fall clothes are here. Still, even with such a stellar new fram record, he grabs his Dr. Pepper, and steps back from his group, foot tapping nervously as he looks at the group over in the bar section of the bowling alley, trying to look like he's NOT watching them.
Gwen Stacy A message? Raised brow as Gwen deciphers what Bando meant on it. Look, she may be 20 but apparently those are the new 30s because she doesn't remember typing like this when she was younger! "I am getting old.." she mutters to herself and then types back.

<I will be there soon.>

Pause ...

<And Bando, no going on heroics on your own.>

True to her word it wont be taking long for Gwen to arrive, dressed in a pair of jeans, grey sweater and a white and pink hoodie jacket, on the back a logo with 'THE MARY JANES' on it. She pulls her hood back, blue eyes taking a look around the bowling area before moving further, looking for Bando..
Bando George     By the time Gwen gets there, Bando is on his last frame. He holds the blue bowling ball, lines up, and throws it down the lane. 2 pins! Gah! He gets a mixture of sympathy and mockery from his group, and takes another ball at random. He should probably stick with one, but that means waiting for his to come back. The green ball lines up in his hand, and he pulls off the spare! Giving him the last shot to be able to take. Of course, since he's bowling, he has no idea that Gwen has shown up.
Gwen Stacy Mild suprise. Bando is actually still playing bowling. And here Gwen was imagining him being in trouble by now. Good enough for her, maybe that visit to JVD helped tempering enthusiasm. Or maybe winning at bowling is the important thing here! Who knows...

Regardless, Gwen makes way, past a few groups, hands on the pockets of her hoodie and she casting her look around. She smiles faintly as someone celebrates after having taken the whole pins down in one shot and then finally comes close. Right as Bando is lining up that last shot.

"You will never make it with that posture." she calls out, amusedly.
Bando George     Bando was about to bowl when he hears Gwen's voice. His face lights up. "Hey!" he grins. "Last frame," he declares as a promise, then looks down. "Why, what'm I doin' wrong?" he asks. He glances back to his friends, all sitting and suddenly watching Gwen arrive. Teenage boys. They look back and forth between Bando and Gwen, and start whispering to each other.
Gwen Stacy There's one rather obscure power that most people aren't aware of Gwen having. One that distinguishes her from the other Spideys, and that's her spatial awareness. Trajectories. So with a look? Yea, she knows that won't be going to hit. Gwen steps in. "Shift your foot..." a pause. "Not like that .., the other.."

She demonstrates the posture, then gestures to the ball, "That's better. Now when you swing don't go too low.." and that's when she notes Bando's friends whispering between each other. Great. She eyerolls noticeably and shakes her head a bit to herself.

"Your friends look right out of Mean Girls."
Bando George     Bando looks at his footing, swapping. No, swapping again, so that he gets it right. He looks, down the aisle, and then throws. 8 pins. Could be worse. "126!" He grins back at Gwen, and then back at his friends. "She says you look like you're out of Mean Girls!" he declares.

"What? We do not!" one of them protests, and Bando laughs. "Okay, I gotta go guys. Count me out of the next one.

"Have a good time!" Another suggests, clearly they think that it's far more casual a reason than interloping on criminal activities.

Bando pauses, like he's going to respond. He glances back at Gwen, and then at the guys. He keeps his mouth shut. "So," he says, "They were right over-" he starts to point, only to see that the space at the bar is open. "There..." Nobody is sitting there.
Gwen Stacy A brief wave of farewell and Gwen is walking away too, not one to fuel any more gossip between the Mean Boys, wandering along with Bando towards the bar. "So, what is it exactly you had heard? Your message was somewhat cryptic." she admits to Bando, looking at him until at last she casts a look over to where Bando mentions..

And noone.

She blinks once, a glance about and then to Bando. "Maybe they took off? How do they look like?"
Bando George     Bando bites his lower lip. "They were there like, fifteen seconds ago," he promises, knitting his brow. "If they just left, they should be like, right around here. Three guys, um, a black guy and two white guys...uh, one of them had a red Queens High School sweatshirt, but was like, way too old for high school." He glances around, quickly becoming mildly frantic. "Agh, I screwed it up!" he declares. He starts to rush toward the entrance to check. And he still has the bowling shoes on.
Gwen Stacy "Alumni most likely." Gwen concludes, hands still in pockets. As for her gaze? It's still roaming, listening to Bando's description of the group, "We can still catch up to them. You go check the ...."

And there goes Bando towards the front.

"I guess I will check the back.." She smiling faintly, not as frantic as Bando. She is more used to this! And if they were there just a while ago that means they can find them.

Gwen makes her way over to the back, near the restroom areas to check, glancing about.
Bando George     "Hey, shoes!" One of the workers notices Bando leaving with property that's not his. Bando looks down, and kicks off the shoes, leaving them behind as he reaches out to summon his from the place his friends continue to bowl, and abandons through the front of the building, still in his sock feet.

But Gwen's less energetic process prevails, as outside the back, the three that Bando described are by the loading entrance, one of them lighting a cigarette.

"Already had one disaster with this," the man in the high school shirt says. Yeah, he's way too old for high school, mid thirties at the youngest.
"The Captain knew what could happen when he got involved. I hope he pulls through, but,"
    "But if he tells anyone-"
"He won't tell anyone. It'd make the whole department look bad. And he'd get incriminated, too He was there."
Gwen Stacy Success! Gwen glues hersself to the wall when she notes the little group outside. Descriptions match, specially that Queens high school shirt so she starts sliding closer, moving behind a large trash bin and peeking over the side, blue eyes narrowing while she listens.

In the meantime her fingertips start typing on a message on her phone. <They are on the back. I am watching them. Care, don't alert them to us>

She grits her teeth as they actually start to talk about THE captain. Her father. Now she's getting angry. But she wants to listen for more before doing something. Though what could she do as Gwen? Confront them? Maybe they'd get shamed enough to say something .., but hard to..

This might be a job for the Ghost Spider instead.
Bando George     "We were doing what was the right thing," the black man says. "He should have just let us handle it instead of getting involved. Dooley and Tomes would've still been alive if he had just stayed in his lane."

"Bastard. Ugh. I don't know if I wanna send him flowers or punch his face in when he wakes up," the guy in the red sweatshirt says.
Bando's figure appears around the corner, and he ducks back quickly, glancing around in the evening light before figuring out where Gwen is. He waves. Very discrete. But apparently the three aren't really looking in his direction. A pair of headlights shine down the alley, and the cigarette is tossed to the ground and stomped on.

    "OK, here we go."
Gwen Stacy There's a moment there in which Gwen is tempted to just step out of her hiding spot and call them out about her father. Because her father is certainly not corrupt, even if these guys seem to be. And cops too. Figures it'd be some kind of inside job..

The lights start shining and she takes that opportunity to stealthily make her way to where Bando is. "They are talking about my father, and the two officers that died.." she tells Bando quietly. "They seem to be cops too."

"Ufff, if they leave in that car lets hope my scooter can keep up." Yes, Gwen has an electric little scooter. Like every student should have! She gestures. "Let's move a bit closer.."
Bando George     "They said your dad was part of it?" Bando asks quietly as Gwen arrives. The three men walk up to a van that shows itself, and a man gets out of the dock. He most definitely doesn't look like a cop. Openly carrying a pistol on his hip, tattoos that cover his face and arms, and even on his shaved head.

He looks around, "We clear this time?" he asks. "Because I don't want any surprises like last time."

    "No no, we're clear."
"You said your captain was on board, what was that last time?"

"He was!" the man in the red shirt insists. "Was just a big misunderstanding."
"Yeah, well we got one of ours in a coma and two of yours in the morgue," the tattoo'd man says. "I don't like that kind of misunderstanding. Price is doubled now."

"Doubled? Come on, we had a deal."
"And you broke it! So now this is the new deal."
"How about we just arrest you right now," the black officer says. He is taller than the others, towering over the tattoo'd man.
"And how about we turn states evidence for amnesty?" the tattoo man answers, tilting his head challenging. "You got your hands pretty bloody with this, too, don't forget. The price is doubled."

Bando looks back at Gwen. "Gwen...they are sayin' your dad was part of it," he says quietly. As if she didn't already hear.
Gwen Stacy "I heard.." Again, teeth grating together. Ooo, she's mad. How dare they! And it's not like Gwen's father can dispute them considering he's still in a coma. She gets up to her feet, almost as if ready to get out of her hiding spot to go meet them head on. But what would she tell them? Specially considering they are cops.. She'd probably just get rebuffed..

So instead...

Her phone comes out and she turns the camera on, making a 'shhhh' gesture towards Bando. It was time to get some actual evidence on what is going on. And ugh, this would had been a lot easier if she had brought her suit, with her webs, to get her phone closer. "If we got closer we could get some audio too instead of only images.." she says to Bando, now filming the exchange between the group. Steady hands too!

"These guys are in deep with some shit. Doesn't really sound like drugs though.."
Bando George     "I could teleport it closer," Bando suggests. "If I do it right, we'll be able to pick up what they are saying." The four keep talking.

"We don't have double, if we take that much from the confiscated money, it'll be noticed. I can't write a discrepancy report for that."
Gwen Stacy "Alright. Go ahead." Yes, Gwen is aware of the dangers of Bando's teleporting. But she also trusts him. Or at least that's what her eyes seem to say when she hands the phone over to Bando without hesitation.

Video and audio? It would be a start to this investigation. She leans forward a touch, straining to hear. Confiscated money? So that's what they are doing...

She frowns deep.
Bando George     The tattoo man isn't impressed.
"I don't care, we gotta get ours, because stakes raised on our end as well. So do it, or we find another buyer, and they won't be on your side, I can promise you." The seller isn't budging.

Bando takes the phone, and takes a deep breath, trying to focus. He looks over the area, and turns the phone to where it faces Gwen, though not her face. He has it tilted down slightly, adjusts a little, glancing at the target location, and glancing back at the phone to make sure they are in agreement. *fwump*

"Okay okay," the cop in the red sweatshirt raises his hand in surrender. "How about this. We get two now, and-" They all suddenly shift at the sound as the phone reappears against the wall behind them. They don't see it, though, glancing around.
"You guys hear that?" the third cop in a leather jacket says. Clearly they did.
Bando nearly panics, throwing hand out at Gwen's chest in an attempt to shove them both back to full cover against the building. They group wasn't looking in their direction yet. He's a little jumpy on this.
Gwen Stacy There's that latent potential for danger in the air. The telling that if they are found there will be trouble of the worst kind. It happens right as the phone appears against the wall near the group, Gwen's eyes going wide and she certainly needing no incentive to move back, at the same time bringing Bando along with her so they aren't on sight.

But damn it, they are so close to figuring out what they are doing here. And what they are DEALING in. It's just a few more seconds.. Hopefully. And they got them all on tape. And soon with some audio too.

She presses a fingertip to ruby lips to make sure Bando stays quiet and then hunches down closer to the side of the door to peek out, using all that spider-stealth to make sure she remains unseen, very very hopeful that they won't stop their dealing because of that sound.
Bando George      Bando looks down, and quickly removes his hand from it's position as Gwen crouches down, and he joins her. "Sorry," he apologizes in a whisper.

The group is quiet for a second, and a flashlight shines to one end of the building and then the other.
"Probably a cat or somethin'," another answers.
"Great, well while you guys get jumpy over this," the tattoo man's voice echoes. "I need money. for this. So get your Captain to get us the money, or get it yourself, I don't care. But we're movin' these things.

"Okay, look, we can get it signed off," the voice of the leather jacket continues. "Give us two now with what we got for ya, and we're doin' a sting later this week. We'll take the confiscated cash, we get you the rest."

"Thought you needed your captain for that," the tattoo man says suspiciously.

"He's out of commission. We could really do it with or without him. He's out of action right now so even if he would fight it he'll never know. I do the count, so the money is what I put in the report."

There's a long pause. "Okay, you got til Saturday," the tattoo man says. "But after that? You're outta luck, you got that?"
Gwen Stacy Some relief goes over Gwen's expression when it seems the phone is safe for now! Doubly so because besides actually wanting to hear what the guys are saying she also can't afford to have it broken up! College students don't get a lot of money to go by!

Yet a small smile creeps up to her expression as they continue on and reveal a bit more on what they are doing. Payouts with sting money. "They are using money they confiscate to pay for ..." a beat, "... I am not sure what. Tech?" she whispers back to Bando, having completely missed the inappropriate place that hand was at!

"We are going to have to get them during the trade and get pictures to frame them.." She says back to Bando, biting on her lower lip. "I can't believe my father would be in this though. He must have been wanting to stop this. He must have.."
Bando George     Bando doesn't answer the personal monologue. He knows what it looks like, but trying to point out the possibility that maybe her father /is/ involved? Probably not the best time.
"Sounds like some kind of tech," Bando agrees. But for what? It sounds like they're trying to be better at being cops," he comments. "Not your typical corrupt money making thing," he points out. "Maybe they aren't such bad guys?" he suggests. Maybe that might make the plausibility of her father being involved sound a little less villainous.

"Right, Saturday," the leather jacket cop agrees. "We should have it by then." The tattoo guy gets back in his vehicle, and puts it in gear. The cops, on the other hand, frown to one another. "This wasn't supposed to be this complicated," the guy in the red sweatshirt notes aloud.

"Well, now it is," the tall black officer answers. "Make sure we all get on that sting, hopefully it'll all be done before George wakes up."

"If he wakes up," comes the haunting response from the man in the red shirt. The trio turn to start walking back toward the bowling alley from which they exited.
Gwen Stacy "They are using sting money for it. And at the same time funding whatever else these guys are into.." Gwen replies to Bando when he speaks about them maybe not being as villainous. She shakes her head, "And whoever these guys are they aren't good people." she adds to Bando. But that's Gwen. Goody twoshoes!

As the man with the tattoo moves to the vehicle to leave she relaxes some. Seems like the danger of them being caught is over. Now it's only a matter of getting the phone back.. And there's quite a few police officers coming their way... Uh oh!

"They are coming this way!" she warns Bando.
Bando George     Bando shrugs, "I'm just trying to stay open-" he panics as he realizes that Gwen is right, they are coming this way! "Uh. Uh..." Helooks at the next building, to each end of the alley. He could try to teleport. He could run the other way. He's rather frozen though, unable to come to a conclusion. What do we do?" He asks in a raised whisper. Of course, it isn't the crooks coming their way, it is the cops, so that...is that better or worse? Clearly stealth operations aren't his natural habitat.
Gwen Stacy Oh, it's certainly worse.. Specially if they recognize her. which they will if they see her face fully.. There are a few possibilities. Like jumping up to the wall and bringing Bando with her..., or teleporting. But how dangerous will those choices be if they actually see them then? Gwen being Ghost Spider is something she really doesn't want to be announced at the world.

So it's time for some mundane stealth. And in this case stealth in plain sight! She has seen this in movies. It always works.

Gwen turns to look at Bando, blue eyes wide, "Don't discuss this. Quick, against the wall." and Gwen will move in after, hands up on her blond hair to make it drape about her face so as to cover it and steps closer to the young man. She leans in as if ..., is she going to kiss Bando? But then there's her hand covering his mouth and her lips rest on her hand. No contact! "Arms around my back." she hisses to Bando just before the group of officers turns the corner.

And if the ruse works they will just look like a bowling couple who decided to take to smooshing during a break. Hopefully!
Bando George     Bando recoils, not expecting Gwen's strategy, but that recoil does put him against the wall. The low light doesn't keep the heat of his cheeks from flushing off at the awkward position. He doesn't immediately respond, but as the trio passes between the buildings, he almost roboticly responds, keeping his hands very cordially no further around her than her shoulders. Not the best sell on a kissing pose. The three stop, spotting the two, and then start to walk around. Lt. Jericho Robinson is the taller black man, and he speaks.

"Kids, not a good place for that, move on out of here," he chastises them.
"Jerry don't be a kill joy," Detective Ryan Jenkins, the quartermaster, is the guy in the leather jacket. "Leave'm alone." The Lieutenant shrugs. Hey he's off duty, not his problem right now. The three continue on, seeming unconcerned.

Bando stays frozen, glancing between Gwen's face that is too close to focus on, and the three that are passing by. He doesn't even breathe. Once they are past, he just keeps his brown eyes focused on where they went, not daring to move a muscle until told to do so.
Gwen Stacy Gwen doesn't answer Jericho, remaining close to Bando. Maybe they are just too into the kiss! Ah, young love or something....

Or maybe she is just waiting for them to freakin' go on and get off their necks. It's only when they are finally all past that Gwen steps back from Bando, hand leaving the young man's mouth. "There, sorry about that..." a glance through the semi-opened doorway. "Seems we are off the hook.."

One hand brushes her hair back into position and she goes to skulk close to where they were before, "Now just got to retrieve the phone. This is going to be gold!" she announces. "We will have to track them this coming Saturday, thanks for this Bando, going to really help in getting my father's name cleaned."

Yea, she seems somewhat of a one-track mind where it comes to her father being an wholesome, uncorrupt man.
Bando George     Bando brushes his lips after Gwen releases them, and straightens his shirt. "Uh, it's fine," he says, re-centering himself. "Phone, right." He takes a breath, and puffs it out as Gwen goes to check out where the phone rests. It looks pretty clear. "Okay," he says. "Um. Gwen..." He has the tone of someone who wants to say something, but is uncertain how he should say it. After seeing that no one else seems to be in the area, he starts walking out to the loading area toward his phone, an awkward energy in his step. For a few reasons, really, it's clear that he has a tense posture, unlike his normal very casual haphazard happy demeanor.
Gwen Stacy Reaching down Gwen takes the phone, stopping the recording and then playing it so she can hear it, pressing the phone to her ear. She is still hearing what Bando is saying though, even if she does seem a bit distracted, smiling faintly at what she is also listening on the phone. "Yea, can hear them clearly here. We got them.." she says in a celebratory tone.

"And mm, what is it?" She quirks a brow at Bando, taking note of that tense posture at last.
Bando George     Bando shifts a little. "I am sure your dad is an awesome guy," he starts. "Even if he was a bit scary that day I met him," he adds. "It's just that...it sounds...the recording. It sounds like he might be part of it. And maybe he's not!" he is quick to hold up hands in defense before an objection. "But...if he is, what are you going to do?"
Gwen Stacy Gwen looks at the phone, then back to Bando, smile fading from her expression. "He can't be." she says in denial about it all. Or the possibility that he may be part of any kind of conspiracy inside the PD.

"Can he?" She shakes her head to herself. "And I don't know ..." she admits to Bando, "I don't know what I would do, I can't lose him again..." whatever that means!

"Lets get out of here before one of them remembers to come back here..." She tells Bando, gesturing to the alleyway.
Bando George     The prompt of the possibility of the cops' return causes Bando to look over his shoulder to check. "Okay," Bando says, shoving his hands in his pockets, then removing them again, as if consciously trying to break a habit, and he starts walking back to the alleyway. "I just don't want to see you, I dunno. Is hurt the right word?" he asks. "Compromised. Everybody makes mistakes," he says. "And, if your dad made one, you gotta know now what you'll do with the info." Implied question, will she turn him in?
Gwen Stacy "If it comes to that..." Gwen finally says after a few moments of silence, "... I will confront him with the info and then he will get to decide." she shaking her head to herself. "I -know- my father, Bando. He wouldn't be doing this without some kind of motive or ..." another shake, "Let's go..."

Which is pretty much another word for not wanting to think about it right now. Gwen the evader! Dodging having to think about hard decisions the same way she dodges bullets.
