Owner Pose
Thaal Sinestro It's peak hours when the steady stream of customer's Jessica's had to contend with today is broken--

"'''You'''," a masculine voice states, low and vaguely exasperated, "are '''not''' a Green Lantern."

-- by a caller with a mission. The number's from Washington State; every other client detail that ''should'' be present is rendered in letters just a bit ''too'' prone to melting together, shifting around, and dripping from their fields in flickering pixels for readability.

The digits of whatever timing system Jessica's employer might use to track her efficiency are frozen solid.

"Your ring does not exist in the Oan records. '''You''' do not exist in the Oan records. And yet:" Thaal Sinestro says, cold and deliberate.

"Here you sit, incurious and content to squander the mystery in your grasp. '''Why'''?"

The Green Lantern holds for a moment to the question absorb, then:

"Why should you be allowed to keep it?"
Jessica Cruz A blink as she is used to just sitting there, bored, waiting for the next call. She blinks as the screen flickers and changes. She then looks at the details as she hears the voice and then looks at her hand. Her eyes going over the odd ring, worn from time and missing some details but still very much a ring of Oa. She looks around briefly and then a voice within her mind speaks up.

<Jessica, this is not a normal call.> Jessica rolls her eyes, after all, she's not stupid. She instead stares and then replies.

"I am at work, I don't know who you are and I don't know anything about Green Lanterns other than what is on the news. What do you want?"
Thaal Sinestro "I am Thaal Sinestro of the Green Lantern Corps, and '''nothing''' about your job could ever hope to matter as much as this conversation. Ignorance is not absolution: whether through theft or crude imitation, you possess the greatest weapon in the universe-- or something very much '''like''' it. This '''must''' be reckoned with; your... '''job'''," he bites off with an audible sneer, "can obviously wait."

Punctuating Sinestro's introduction, emerald light flares through the nearest window, then settles until it's merely a taut sheathe clinging to the black and green uniform of the Corps. The alien hovers outside, hands clasped behind his back and chin lifted an inch or two to give dark, dispassionate eyes an imperious flair as he sets his gaze on the aberrant ringbearer.

"Once you've made a proper accounting, and this error has been corrected, you may of course return to your regularly scheduled tedium," coolly emanates through the headset.
Jessica Cruz There's an almost glare at the screen. Jessica has a lot of issues but being intimidated or pushed around isn't typically one of them. Overly cautious? Sure. Intimidated? No. She then blinks as something or someone appears outside her clossed blinds and she stands up. She hangs up casually and then takes herself out of the queue without much of a thought. She had already turned in her two weeks notice. They can kiss her butt.

"What the...?" She opens her blinds and then her window before staring, "Oh, it's you." She states to the man outisde as she leans out and tilts her head.

"I don't know where this ring truly came from only that it came to me." She holds it up and shows it to Sinestro, "And now I'm having to deal with that along with a lot of other things so I don'tknow what kind of accounting you want but you're attitude is not welcome."
Thaal Sinestro "Like a fawn frightened of trampling the grass around her, you wield the ring in clumsy fits and starts bridged by hesitation," Sinestro states, wholly unconcerned with how much attitude Jessica's willing to bear.

As a woman who makes - perhaps made, soon - her living by talking to people, Jessica might recognize the subtle shift from 'exasperation bordering on disdain' to 'exasperation bordering on disdain, but in like an inspiring Coach Taylor kind of way'.

"As it stands, it is a death sentence for you."

The sheath clinging to his body ripples, then brightens to the point of cloaking him in solid green from head to toe. Darting forwards takes him through the wall without a trace, then the sheath cools back down. Even though he's inside, he's still hovering about a foot from the ground.

"And once '''that''' happens, that ring will continue to be a problem for '''me'''; for the '''Corps'''," he continues as his left arm extends so that several green tethers can lash from his ring finger and splash wireframes across the surface of Jessica's ring. For now, at least, he's sticking with a relatively basic analysis: materials, energy signatures, power source, and so on, without attempting to penetrate any protective measures that might be built into it. "'''If''' you are going to maintain your possession of this ring, you will do it properly; if you are to be my problem, you will be managed in a way that does not disrupt my duties."
Jessica Cruz "What the hell?!" Jessica takes a step back when Sinestro 'lets himself in' and she stares as he floats in her living area. She points at him, "Hey, I didn't ask you to come inside!" She staets and then he begins to do something to her ring and almost instantly she is covered, head to toe, in a similar outfit to his own though the symbols are different, including a strange cross like shape over her right eye along with a headband. She herself, unconciously, begins to float and she holds back her ring.

"I don't know what backwater place you come from but here, we ask permission to enter a person's home!"
Thaal Sinestro "I am a duly appointed officer of the Green Lantern Corps," the alien says. His voice doesn't waver; his arm doesn't budge, even though the telemetric tethers have been rebuffed by Jessica's ring activating, "whose jurisdiction has been extended to Space Sector 2814 for the primary purpose of managing the appearance of aberrant Oan technology upon your planet."

"I have a '''warrant'''."

Eyes that're now softly, subtly aglow with green rove curiously down and up the woman whose home he has so thoughtlessly entered. Any information that the ring's able to pull from Jessica frames his vision as it does its best to analyze her empowered form.

"A fight is '''not''' in your best interests, human. I come in peace; I am not, however, a pacifist. I'm here for '''both''' of our sakes."
Jessica Cruz "And I'm here for my sake." She states as she points at the man, "This is my house and I don't care what kind of warrant you have." She states simply as she lands casually on the floor and grips her ring hand in a fist.

"I don't know anything about Oans or technology or whatever. This ring showed up to me, it locked itself on to my finger, and here we are." She states and looks at him carefully, "Are you even sure it is one of yours?" She looks at his ring and then at the symbol on his chest before holding up her own, "This isn't exactly your style."
Thaal Sinestro "Then you ''must'' grasp the inherent problems with attempting to simply live with a weapon -- which you neither understand, nor know how to use --"

Dark and radiant eyes fall pointedly to Jessica's fist clenched around her ring hand.

"which has forcibly bound itself to you, much less with '''wielding''' it," Sinestro stiffly replies to Jessica's assertion of her rights. Once she begins edging towards dialogue over protest, he flicks a brisk and broad gesture towards her glowing, mystically uniformed self.

"It is unregistered with the Corps' systems; even fixing on your location required that I tune my ring's sensor package to recognize the ambient radiation it emits at rest, as well as learning how to differentiate its unique energy signature from the others swirling around Earth," he explains, drifting a couple inches closer. "But in spite of its... ''eccentricities'', it was constructed on the same fundamental technology as '''this'''."

His ring hand opens and lifts towards her gaze, swirling with energies just as green as hers.

"''Whatever'' it truly is, we are '''both''' invested in understanding it."
Jessica Cruz "Well, perhaps start with that rather than brea-" She pauses in her accuasation, looking again at the spot he came through the wall at before looking to him, "Well, atl east coming in uninvited." She states and her eye twitches at him before she looks at his hand and then at hers.

"I am trying to understand it." She states, "That's why I went to a man nearby who deals in, well, this sort of thing." She gestures to her finger and then looks at him, "Though I suppose any help is help." She doesn't really feel like oversharing too much about the entity in the ring yet given she doesn't know Sinestro from any other glowing green purple alien from planet whatevers.
Thaal Sinestro "'''I''' am a man who deals in this sort of thing," he flatly notes, fingertips alighting over his chest emblem. "Ideally, it would be dismantled, so that every micron of its components could be catalogued; unfortunately..."

This time, his pointed glance is focused '''right''' on Jessica's ring finger.

"Simulation is the next best alternative, and will require an exhaustive battery of penetrative scans, so that I can construct a functional map of its inner-workings. Given that, I'd have something to contrast with a ''proper'' Oan ring, and could begin determining just how similar the two truly are."

Instead of getting started here and now, Sinestro pulls his hands into a loose clasp behind his back as he drifts just a little bit closer.

"But that's only the beginning," he continues, quick to caution. "Knowing what it '''is''' will not suffice; you '''must''' be capable of using it properly. '''Definitively'''. Fortunately:"

For the first time in what could quite conceivably be ever, Sinestro's lips draw into a taut, proud smile.

"I was assigned to Earth because I have been responsible for training dozens of freshly inducted Green Lanterns. You are '''not''' one of us, but there is nobody better equipped in this universe to mold you until you wield your ring '''like''' one of us." His ring hand extends, this time for a handshake.

"You have been granted an opportunity, human; do not let fear drive you to squander it."
Jessica Cruz Eying him, Jessica looks at the extended hand after listening to his little speech. She looks rather hesitant to take up any of his offer but then she hears it.

<This is an opportunity, Jessica. He wishes to help you gain strength. Don't lose it.> The voice has that same soft kindness to it even as Jessica carefully takes the hand and give sit a shake with a nod.

"If you think you can help, then by all means." She states and she shifts carefully, though it is clear she's cautious of him, not trusting anyone fully. Not yet anyway.
Thaal Sinestro For such a slim and lanky man, Sinestro's grip is powerful. Powerful, and '''determined''': from the moment their hands touch 'til the moment they separate, it's as firm and unyielding as a mountain, a wordless pledge to keep her secure in his grasp for as long as it takes to make -- if not a ''Lantern'', ''something'' potent and sure out of her.

"An Oan ring can create -- '''do''' -- whatever its bearer wishes; they need only have the will to drive it. I will visit you again within the next twenty-four hours; your first task will be to use the ring to create an exact facsimile of an object that has importance to you," he instructs after pulling back to fold his arms across his chest.

"Your second will be to maintain it - down to the last detail - until my next visit, so that I may see what manner of recruit the universe has seen fit to give me. We will then begin covering the fundamentals of ring wielding, as well as initiate the first scans of your ring so that the modeling may begin; clear?"
Jessica Cruz A blink at that grip and Jessica looks at him carefully. She isn't sure what to think of this man but then he gives her a task and she stares more at him. She pulls her hand back before shaking her head.

"Sure think, bossy." She states even as she grips her hand into a fist, "Any other demands you'd like to make?" She rolls her eyes before she raises a hand, "I got it, training but you have like 0 people skills." Jessica then gestures to the door, "I will see you later, I gotta at least pretend to get back to work."
