Owner Pose
Tim Drake     The pounding drumbeat of a British punk rock song floats up through the open air from the bottom sublevel. Tim's down there, on a rolling creeper (yes, that is what they're officially called) working away underneath that ridiculously expensive car of his.

You know, the 4 million dollar one? The one he justified as "look, I have to play up the vacuous rich boy thing" even though secretly he really, really wanted it? Yeah, that one. The Bugatti Chiron. In red, naturally.

And he's singing along to the song, though he's purposefully getting the lyrics wrong, because it's definitely not "Lock the taskbar, lock the taskbar."

Settled atop his stomach is a dog somewhat unfamiliar to the Roost. It's a Jack Russell Terrier like Beast is, but this one has one ear that stands up and one that flops down. There's also an Anarchy symbol hanging from his collar.

In-between singing, Tim is explaining what he's doing. To the dog. Like so:

"This is the coolant pump, see? It circulates 800 liters of water per minute to compensate for the 3,000 HP of heat that the engine puts out."

The dog makes a noise almost like acknowledgement, and when Tim starts flapping his hand around for a wrench, the dog climbs off of him, fetches it, and nudges it into Tim's hand before returning to his previous comfortable resting spot.

"Thanks, Yap." Tim pauses to wipe his hand on a rag before he pets the pup's head. "Good boy."
Phoebe Beacon     What better to go with the sound of The Clash than The Rumble, the Roar, and the ticking of a motorcycle.

Coming in off one of the sewer-wise entries, Phoebe comes in on her motorcycle. The cafe racer has a back to it now so someone can ride behind her, but she also has a backpack on.

    A backpack that is wriggling.

She stretches her fingers, and then takes off her helmet, shaking out her chunky braids as she gives a bright grin to Tim.

"Am I interrupting something?" she asks, and then crouches down.

    "HIiiiiiyeeee Yap!"
Mary Turner Strix usually doesn't come to the garage. After all, she can't drive. But the sound of punk music isn't something she's heard before, so she's drawn to it. There's something infectious about it, she must admit. Toe tapping even. It's nothing like the music she grew up with in the 40s, and as a Talon they never really let her listen to any music, so she still finds Rock 'n' Roll to be strange, but in a good way.

She finds not only Tim and Yap down here, but Phoebe too. She waves at them to catch their attention (well, Phoebe's attention since Tim is under a car) when she enters the garage fully. Yap gets an excited clap and 'come hither' motions to tempt the dog to come over for pets.
Bart Allen Bart Allen has been doing some thinking and he has decided he should buy a car for Bart. He has went around for the past ten minutes and gathering used car papers. So that brings Bart here in his civilian clothes holding a stack of papers about three foot tall, and calls out from behind them "Hey Tim you here?"
Tim Drake     The sound of an approaching vehicle has Tim rolling out from beneath his car, and as he idly wipes at a smudge of oil on his cheek, his expression lights up. "Pheebs!" he calls out, and though Yap is content to stay in Tim's lap, Tim holds on to the dog just in case. Though as soon as Phoebe is parked, he lets go.

Immediately, Yap walks over to the person crouching in petting range, his nails click-click-clicking on the garage floor. Though he takes more interest in Phoebe's wriggling backpack than Phoebe herself, doing a whole heck of a lot of sniffing at it.

And while Yap is investigating, Tim is climbing to his feet. "Nah, just doing some preventative maintenance." Then, "Hey, Strix!" he greets, as he goes to wash up with the garage-standard orange bottle of hand cleaner. Soon enough the whole place smells of oranges.

He's drying his hands off on a shop towel as the stack of papers that sounds suspiciously like Bart Allen makes its appearance. "I might be," Tim replies, tone split between amusement and concern, and he shoots a look over to Phoebe, eyebrows raised. Yap has also abandoned his sleuthing (he'd never make it as Wishbone) to run over to Strix and circle around her excitedly, tail wagging.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe's pack gives another wriggle, and then she unzips it.

Phoebe brought a friend! A pair of bright Blue eyes, preceeded by a spotted nose and white and red fur, and ears that are long and floppity at the moment, but someday - SOMEDAY -- will stand up and be alltogether too big for him still.

Phoebe gives a smile, scrtching against the terrier before she gently pushes over her backpack, and the little puppy waddles out of it.

"Heya, Strix. Hi Bart!" she gives a smile, and sits down on the floor.
Mary Turner If Strix could talk she'd be making cooing baby noises at Yap, so instead she pets him vigorously, giving him plenty of scritches on his head and his butt. When he's done getting attention from her, Strix stands up and wanders over to where Tim and Phoebe are.

Then another puppy happens.

Strix gasps audibly, grinning. She points at the terrier pup and tilts her head at Phoebe in a silent question.
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and sets his papers down on one of the table, and says "Need help to find something Tim." But then he sees Yap, and the other dog. He smiles a bit and will let the others play with the pups a bit waiting to take his time. He will shower all pups with attention when he can.
Tim Drake     Is that... a puppy? Tim stops, standing stock still, still gripping the now-damp shop towel between his hands. He looks from Phoebe, to Phoebe's bag, back up to Phoebe again.

Then she tips the backpack over and yes, that is a puppy coming stumbling out of it, and Tim has to take a hard breath in through his nose to contain himself.

He is a grown adult. He does not squeal.

But he does immediately come over to stand beside Strix, obviously waiting his turn to welcome the new creature in with pets and scritches. "Looking for a car?" Tim asks Bart, having spied the papers sat down and made a stunning deductive leap in logic. Yes, he is indeed the (second) greatest detective in Gotham.
Phoebe Beacon     The puppy is almost as big as Yap. Probably not a little dog.

"This is... a very good boy, a gift. From my home village... which sounds so weird to say." Phoebe explains, and she reaches to scritch at his altogether-so-giant ears. Phoebe gives a nod to Strix, and then a shrug.

"I went to the village the other night for clean up and some training. I did a certain kind of circle to make sure the village guardian would be tended to for a while and then... ah. Puppy." she states, and motions to the dog.

"Zee couldn't care for him, so I kinda got it by default."
Mary Turner Strix bends down to give the new puppy a good few scritches before looking up questioningly at Phoebe. She reaches into the pocket of her overalls and pulls out her phone, typing a quick question on it. "NAME?"
Bart Allen Bart Allen will move to look at the pup from different angles and lets Strix and Tim both pet it. He will squat down to give Yap some loving so he does not feel left out as he is already working on the right puppy treats for the new pupper in his head.
Tim Drake     Once Strix has had her turn, Tim sneaks in there to give the new puppy some attention too. Lots of vigorous ear-waggling and such, cooing about how he's a "beautiful baby boy" and the like. There's no quicker way to get quiet, serious Tim Drake to turn soft and mushy than with a cute animal.

Which is honestly, just... shouldn't that be true for everyone?

Meanwhile, Yap is happy to sniff the pup's butt and otherwise not be the center of attention. Though he'll certainly accept pettings from Bart, too.

"At this point I really do need to just convert the Roost into an animal sanctuary, don't I?" Tim asks, with a grin on his face. He looks up when Strix's phone-voice asks after Phoebe's name selection for her new guardian. "As much as Zee jetsets around the world, yeah, I get it. He's welcome here of course--just make sure to get him kitted out with a tag so the Roost's system can track him." There's a whole system in place for making sure the various pets of the Roost don't go where they shouldn't be. Even though Mr. Murder Mittens seems to always get around that.
Phoebe Beacon     If Everyone loved puppies and kittens, the world would be a better place.
Phoebe gives an embarrassed smile to Strix, and she gives a shrug of her right shoulder. "I haven't thought of one yet. I've kinda been called him Idu -- which is Ancient Egyptian for 'Boy'."

And the little puppy wags his little whip like tail so hard that his too-long backlegs threaten collapse, and makes a little 'wrruuuuuu!' bay, turning and trying to get the drop on Yap as he goes.
Mary Turner Strix nods solemnly at Phoebe's temporary name and gives her a thumbs up. This is a good name. She takes a few steps back to watch the two puppers interact for a while.

Eventually she'll look over to Bart. She points at him, and makes a steering wheel motion and gives him an exaggerated puzzled look. She then points to him again, and makes running motions with her fingers as fast as she can.
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and says "Impulse runs really fast, but people are not supposed to know Bart Allen can, and while I maybe able to explain work and school via the turbo loop, but it will help to know how to do it, and having a car is good with the whole secret Identity. He does sit down so one or both pups can come over to him now. "Cyborg is teaching me to drive, figure if nothing else it is a good skill to have, that and piloting."
Tim Drake     "I'm sure you'll figure one out, Phoebe, though I like Idu," Tim assures as he lets the puppy smell his hand. Which the dog probably won't like, given he smells like citrus. There's not much chance to find out, though, as the smart watch on Tim's wrist vibrates. When he glances at the notification, he sighs.

He stands up and puts his hands on his hips. "Yap, can I trust you to behave yourself if I leave you down here?"

In response, Yap sits down primly and looks up at Tim. Tim nods. "Okay, good boy."

And as Tim strides off with a backwards wave and a "I'll send you some links, Bart!" Yap remains where he is... which means he's in the perfect position for the puppy to jump on him. They go ass over teakettle, and Yap goodnaturedly wiggles around on his back and gives a few of his namesake yaps.
Phoebe Beacon     "Well, it just literally means 'Boy'. I feel a bit weird calling someone --" she pauses as Tim's wrist vibrates, and she gives a slight smile over to him. "Be safe. I have to go over some stuff with you -- could use your brain on it." she calls after him, and sits back down, ruffling on the doggo as she breathes out.

"Good Yap. Good Idu. Iwiw." she murmurs to the white-and-red dogs, before looking to Bart and Strix. And she looks to her motorcycle.

"Not going to lie, not looking forward to navigating that through the snow."
Mary Turner Ah, Strix nods at Bart, understanding. She looks thoughtful for a moment before jabbing a thumb at herself and making the same driving wheel motion with a questioning tilt to her head.

She nods to Phoebe, holding out one hand flat, palm up and the other perpendicular to it and makes wavy sliding motions with it, and then tilts her body over, dangerously close to falling over.
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and says "I can teach you as I learn, or can see if you can come take lessons with me with the titans." He offers, and now he gives both puppers scritches and says "Want me to get you home, and come back for it?"
Phoebe Beacon     "Precisely it, Strix. I'm still new to motorcycles, though I can pull off a couple of tricks." she gives a small smile, and then shrugs a moment, and leans her head back.

"Chas is supposed to teach me. Dad-daughter bonding. Maybe he won't die in the attempt." she gives a soft scoff, and she breathes out.

"Idu. Not a bad name." she states gently, scritching at the puppy as it wanders back over, tailwags, and then goes after Yap again! VICTORY! BATTLE! FOR THE EMPIRE!
Mary Turner Strix nods enthusiastically at Bart. She always wanted to learn how to drive! (Though seeing as she doesn't have /any/ official documentation, getting her a license might be problematic.)

Turning back to Phoebe she gives her a solemn nod. She looks thoughtful for a bit and then points a thumb at herself and makes motorcycle revving motions. She should probably learn how to ride one of them, too.
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, and says "I am willing to teach you anything I can, and help out how ever I can." He offers. "Right now, I will be looking at getting a little used car something not used often. He looks over to Phoebe and says "You want a set of keys to it, in case you need it for an emergency or something?"
Phoebe Beacon     "If you want. I learned a little from Carrie, when she was around. Tim's probably a better teacher than I am... matter of fact, I brought the bike in because it's making a ticking sound and was hoping that Tim could maybe take a look at it with me. But duty calls." she states, motioning after Tim's form.

"... but I swear to god if it's the other one... stealing the kneebaps."
Mary Turner Strix looks thoughtful for a moment before shaking her head and making an x with her arms. She points to the garage doors and makes little fluttering down motions with her fingers. Probably the winter is not the best time to begin to learn how to ride a bike.
Bart Allen Bart Allen 's brow raises as he looks up at Phoebe's last comment a bit confused, and stands up. "I am sure there are VR machines around here that you can get the basics on before we are ready for the real things." He tells them. He does zoom off and is back with some snacks, and drinks, including meaty snacks for the puppers.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe gives a shrug and she looks to Strix. "VR, indoor tracks, I know of a couple places we could take dirtbikes and cover the basics. But you know, special equipment needed. Head, shoulders, arms, legs... gloves... you want to be protected if you're ridingi n the winter, 'cause it is COOOOLD. So cold. I can fit a sweatshirt under my leathers byt soooo cold." she states and she watches a moment as Bart zooms off and back. The doggos go happily for the snacks.
Mary Turner Strix looks thoughtful for a moment. She's gone so long without much in the way of protective gear she's just kind of used to things breaking and then healing themselves within minutes. Imagine what it would be like if things happened and she /didn't/ break things.

But then there's the cold. She points out side, makes the finger waggling down motions again, points to herself, and then stiffens herself up. Cold does not agree with her.
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and says "Well, I could keep you guys running around ya to make a heater probably, but getting some good thermals, maybe even some heated ones would be best. He does offer the ladies drinks and snacks too. "So, you going to take Idu to a normal Vet or want me to see about getting him his shots and such?"
Phoebe Beacon     "I don't imagine it does. Your body construction is kind of unique, if I recall correctly -- oh, who am I kidding. No one on this team has normal body construction. *YAP* is the closest we get to Breed Standard." she exclaims, and then flops backwards. Yap and Idu immediately take it as an invitation to assault her with meat-flavoured kisses.

"Oh! No, no bad--BELLGUGH -- BART HE LICKED IN MY MOOOUTH!" phoebe protests loudly, and then sits up, plucking both dogs up. Yap wriggles, Idu bites at her shirt.

"I don't know if he'll need shots, to be honest. I don't know of any supernatural veterinarians. It's not like I can ask Dr. Strange where he takes his pets." she points out, letting go of the doggos and returning them to the floor.
Mary Turner When Phoebe mentions that Idu is supernatural, she looks at him with a bit of confusion. Scowling she pulls out her phone again. "HOW IS HE SUPER NATTLE" She sighs at her own bad spelling. She really should take night classes or something.
Bart Allen Bart Allen hmms and nods a bit and says "Well, I am the vet for a Bat-dragon, I can be Idu's if there is something that seems different than normal, will talk to you about it and see if we can figure it out together." He chuckles and says "Well there is nothing bad in their treats, so you should be ok." To the licked her in her mouth.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe looks to the phone, and gives a grin.

And seeing Strix's frustration, she reaches out, very gently, and very lightly puts her hand on the other woman's shoulder.

"You're good. I get it. So, what happened was--" Phoebe states, and she brings her hands together, and when she draws them apart, there's strings of light between them, which as they turn, draw together into various circles, connecting together, illuminating the three heroes and two dogs.

The blue of Idu's eyes glows brighter blue.

"My mom's people are from this village in Africa. I went there with my new mentor, Zatanna, the other day." Phoebe explains, "The spirits of my relatives and ancestors are gone, now, but I don't want people finding the village and taking items, so I restarted some of the protective spellwork. And when I invoked a guardian-- Idu came out from the sand, literally, came out of the sand."
Mary Turner Strix's eyes go wide when Phoebe starts doing magic. She knows that magic is a /thing/ but she's never seen anybody work actual magic. Stage magic, sure, but not the real deal. She moves as if she's going to try to touch one of the circles, but then thinks better of it and lowers her hand.

When Phoebe mentions that the dog came out of the sand, her eyes glance towards the pup in wonder. Phone in hand she quickly types out a question about the pup, "IS THAT GUARDIAN?"
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and says "Dogs and such are often guardians in supernatural things. The Foo Dogs for one, and there is a connection from Idu to your magic thats for sure. He will zoom off and is back again in his Dr. Impulse coat with his pockets full of things.
Phoebe Beacon     "Go ahead and touch it. It probably won't hurt you." Phoebe comments, "This is just kind of... light. It might tingle." she states, and she continues holding the circle in place, and she smiles, and looks down to Idu as Idu attempts to crawl into Strix's lap, since Bart was zooming about, and Yap is attempting to Occupy Phoebelap. Garage floors are cold, yo!
And Phoebs, for her effort, just gives a smile, and a shrug of her shoulders.
"He has some growing up to do, I think... but yeah. I think he's a guardian. And I'm the last person from the village."
Mary Turner Strix nods, and slowly reaches out to touch the circle, twining her fingers throughout it. It does tingle a little bit but it's not unpleasant. Her shoulders shake a little at a silent giggle and she pulls her hand back.

Strix looks down at Idu trying to crawl into her lap and she obligingly makes her lap more climbable, and scoots the pup up into it, giving him a good petting in the process. She pulls out her phone, "BEAST IS A GUARDIAN TOO. NOT MAGIC BUT FURROSHUS"
Bart Allen Bart Allen nods, a bit and says "Want me to go up and get him, so he can play with these two?" He offers to Strix, not wanting the dog to be left out of the fun. He does let the dogs sit in the girls laps for now.
Phoebe Beacon     "I've not met Beast yet. I was... away. Learning." Phoebe states. The light does tingle, not quite like an electrical socket tingle, but mildly close. She gives a smile and looks to the two. "I'm sure he is quite ferocious, to the wrong people. So mean. Grr." Phoebe concurs with Strix, and scritches on Yap. who yawns in her lap and burrows against her.

Idu curls up against Strix, and gives a 'urrrruuuuuuuuuu' howl, and then rolls to his back, kicking his legs in the air all akimbo.
Mary Turner Strix gives Bart an enthusiastic nod. When he gets to her room, he'll find that Beast is currently chewing on a bone that is far too large for a dog that size. And yet...

She grins at Phoebe and bears her teeth at her, curling her fingers in a silent snarl. Ferocious indeed! She looks down at Idu when his tummy is exposed and, right on cue, starts petting. Tummies demands pets. Strix is only happy to oblige.
Bart Allen Bart Allen will kneel down and motion for Beast to come to him, "Come here, boy, going to go see Strix, and some new friends." He squats waiting for the dog to come to him, instead of picking him up and running. Once he has the pupper he will bring him down stairs to meet the others.
Phoebe Beacon     New Dogs? *New Dogs*. The two already present in the garage raise their heads -- Yap stays where he's at on Phoebe's lap, but Idu rolls around, wriggling against Strix's lap and then making 'wrrruuuu' sounds, ears trying to prick up at Beast's arrival.

Phoebe turns to meet The BEast herself, curious.
Mary Turner At first Beast is reluctant to come, just looking up and blinking at Bart. But when Bart mentions Strix he springs to his feet and trots on over to the speedster to allow himself to be carried.

When Bart returns, he sees the other dogs and starts to wiggle excitedly, trying to get down. Beast? He's another Jack Russel Terrier, but this one is almost a splitting image of Wishbone. His collar is black leather with studs to make him look tough. Well. It tries. He's still cute as hell.

But his attitude? It's all Beast. He puffs his chest out like he owns the place and struts indignantly over to where Idu is wiggling in Strix's lap. That's his lap! He gives the pup a warning bark which causes Strix to scowl. She snaps and points a warning finger at him. No barking at puppies! Beast averts his eyes in doggy shame.

Leaning over, Strix runs her hand across Beast's back. See? She can have puppy in her lap /and/ pay attention to Beast!
Bart Allen Bart Allen smirks a bit and says "I do believe he feels that is his lap." He sits down with them, and says "I sometimes think I want to get a pupper, but I am not sure, I would have enough time for him." He admits, but at least I can play and help take care of the ones here.
Phoebe Beacon     Idu Uwruuus. His chubby tail wags, and his blue eyes blink at The Beast, and he wriggles accross Strix's lap in order to play-bow and sneeze at the other dog, who is double his size.

Idu's gonna be a big doggo when he grows up.

"They're a lot of work. I already feel bad leaving him as much as I do, but he still sleeps most of the time." Phoebe admits, ruffling on Yap as she leans back on one hand.
Mary Turner Yes! Bow! Bow before Beast! Satisfied that the hierarchy has been established he turns his attention to the other Jack Russel. He trots his way over to Phoebe, only stopping halfway to staaaaaaaaaaaaare at empty space somewhere in the garage. He lets out a very assertive bark, looks satisfied, and finishes his traversal.

He leans forward tentatively, nose twitching, sensing that this one won't be cowed quite so easily. His tail moves in a hesitant wag, unsure about this one.

Strix watches all this and just shakes her head. Beast just gotta be Beast.
Bart Allen Bart Allen smirks a bit at the puppers' action and looks over to Phoebe, and says "Well if you ever need a puppy sitter let me know, I will watch him, least I can offer for you checking on the turtles and the rest.
Phoebe Beacon     The half-size doggo stays in Stix's lap. It's comfy and warm.

Phoebe shifts her weight as The Beast barks at nothing, and she brings her left hand -- the one with the wrapped wrist -- up, and presses her thumb to her forehead in a narrowed-eye fashion, and satisfied that yes, the dog probably barked at nothing. The braided girl scritches at Yap, who looks at the other dog, gives a huff, and then remains in Phoebe's lap, curling slightly as he yawns. Idu curls up a little more, his tail wagging as he looks around at everything.

*A*D*V*E*N*T*U*R*E*!
Mary Turner How *dare* Yap ignore Beast! How *dare* he! Beast lets his indignation be show by starting to bark at him. Strix scowls and claps her hands to get his attention, and she waggles her finger at him. He looks over his shoulder at her and then looks back at Yap and whines. He won't pay attention to me!

Strix pats her chest to summon Beast over, and he comes. He's a good boy after all. (Except when he's not) When he gets there, Strix raises a finger. Sit. Then she tilts her hand until she's pointing at the floor. Down. Beast sits. Beast downs.

She gives Idu a scritch on the back of his head and picks him up and sets him down in front of Beast. Beast looks up at Strix tail wagging slowly, waiting for his next command. She nods her head suggestively towards Idu, and makes little shooing motions with her hands. Go play.
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over to them, and says "You have done well with his training. he compliments Strix. He munches a bit of his jerky and looks over to the girls "We may need to get Tim to add a hidden doggie park down here off one of the room.
Phoebe Beacon     "Idu." Phoebe states, and she brings her left hand down. Idu cants his head, his ears flopping all the way over before he hops to his feet and wobbles his way over to her hand, flopping down on it and going 'uwruuuuuuu' and then chomping at her heel of her palm.

She then brings her right hand down, and she brings her fingers together, and then forms a ball of shining light, and gives a little toss of it to Beast. Ball?

Yap pays attention. Idu pays attention, There is now a little bouncing light ball.
Mary Turner Ball? Ball! Beast tears off after the glowy ball and grabs it into his mouth. He wasn't expecting the tingle and the half there texture so he lets out a little surprised yelp, drops the ball and leaps back, eyeing it suspiciously. He drops his front half and growls menacingly at it and then reeeeaches out with a paw to touch it. He jerks it back when he touches it, and then just start barking at the strange light object.

Strix just rolls her eyes, and smoothly gets up off the floor. She walks over to where Beast is furiously telling the ball what for and picks him up into her arms. She turns to give Phoebe an apologetic shrug. She boops the dog on the nose to get his attention and exaggeratedly holds her lips closed with her fingers. Beast has a couple of good barks left in him, and then he just looks up at her with a whine.
Bart Allen Bart Allen looks over and smirks a bit "I can go get a normal ball if you guys want." He offers to them. He will wiggle his fingers at Idu and makes a soft tch tch noise, to see if he is going to come over.
Phoebe Beacon     Idu lifts his head, and his ears flop over in the other direction, and he goes to waddle his way over to Bart.

Beast's barks belie the ball's bashful nature, and phoebe closes her palm, the ball vanishes, and she gives a smile.

"Someday, I'll make something solid, other than my staff." she states, leaning back on her hand as she pats Yap.
