Laxmi Mallick     Laxmi's arrival at the ski resort had been delayed from a pre-scheduled gig she had in New York - but she arrives only a day or so late, climbing out of the bus that brought her there and waiting for the bus driver to unload her bag from the luggage compartment. Even with a heavy coat on, the dark-skinned woman is shivering by the time she takes her back with a grateful smile, and starts up the walk leading to the lobby. Sure, things got cold in New York City - but somehow this seemed more bitter and biting. She should take to putting those chemical handwarmers in her pocket - maybe that would help...
Logan Snow. To some it was a nuisance to be shoveled away, to children it was a source of joy, for Logan it was just cold wet stuff he had to deal with... a lot. Having arrived with a load of the kids from the school, the rest of the time he seemed to lurk around, just keeping on eye on things and people.

Wearing his usual jeans and work boots, the only major difference is the heavier coat over the fleece flannel, the hood laying against his back and a scarf that looks like it's seen some better days, but still works to keep the heat in. He throws a 'look' at some guy who had been staring at some of the kids not all that long ago as he steps out of the lodge, he goes exactly three steps from the front door before the cigar appears from a pocket and he lights it. That was close. He'd been living in sensory overload inside.

Lifting his eyes to look around, he spots Laxmi's arrival and without hesitation heads toward her on the walk. "You need any help with luggage?" he asks, actually being polite... what's up with that?
Bobby Drake     Some of the children had been engaged in a snowball fight. Because of course, that is what you do when there is an abundance of snow on the ground. Infinite ammunition, and everyone is already covered in snow as it is. One of kids runs past Laxmi and carefully manages to avoid knocking her down in his exhuberance. For all it seems, they are having a blast - laughing carrying on like it is the greatest snowball fight ever.

"We've got him this time!" says one of the kids in one of those whispers that somehow carries itself for miles. A few of them dash off around the side of the lodge, and then come running back screaming, their shrieks of fear or delight piercing even to normal ears.

It becomes apparently just what they were screaming about, as while they took a decidedly Han Solo-esque reversal, they are running from a decidedly Indiana Jones-esque giant rolling snowball. That somehow is able to turn on a dime to continue in hot pursuit of the children.
Laxmi Mallick     "Oh, that's so kind of you to offer, Logan, but I think I can- ...manage." Laxmi's eyes are drawn to the massive snowball that moves as if it were somehow being piloted. "...whose power lets them do that?" she muses quietly - hoping the massive threat will stay well clear of her and the walkway up to the lodge.
"Have I missed anything exciting?" she asks, shoving her free hand deep into her pocket to keep it warm, while the other remains on the handle of her luggage.
Nevermind that both hands are gloved against the chill.
Logan Careful to stop an exact distance from Laxmi, just outside of arms reach, Logan watches the giant snowball roll by without a change to his expression. A puff from the cigar, the wind carrying the smoke away, and he smirks.

"Drake," he comments as the blue eyes continue to track the giant ball. There's a voice in the back of his head screaming that ball might change directions and come his way.

"Nothing too exciting," he then offers to Laxmi, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Couple of minor accidents from kids learning to ski, no broken bones that I've heard of. I think the lodge is going to run out of hot cocoa though, it's been the drink of choice."

Another puff is taken before he calls to the kids, "Divide and conquer, don't stick together or he'll get you all."
Bobby Drake The kids, perhaps surprisingly, do exactly as Logan says - a few quick shouts and they peel out in opposite directions, so that the snowballs and its path is between them. They begin to pelt the giant snowball with their much smaller snowballs, which has some sort of logic, perhaps. But one snowball cannot take out two groups of students, unless...

As if controlled by some greater force, the snowball lurches, as if a cell dividing, and without any greater warming, it splits out and rolls directly into both groups of kids, much to their simultaneous dismay and delight.

The momentum of the figure within the snowball carries it over towards Logan and Laxmi, and with a small cloud of snow kicked up but somehow arching up high above both of them to land harmlessly on the other side, Bobby Drake comes to a rest a few feet away from them. "Good advice, as always, Logan. But doesn't work for every scenario." And then there is that classic Bobby Drake grin. Which is not shaken as he takes one snowball to the back of the head.
Laxmi Mallick     "Right. Drake," Laxmi confirms - as she watches the snowball split. She can't help but let out a laugh as both groups of kids get clobbered, a broad smile on her lips. "Nice work, there," she remarks as Bobby appears in front of them. "You must be loving all of this - being quite literally in your element. I, on the other hand, feel like the veritable fish out of water in this much snow."
Logan Watching the kids follow his advice and apply some actual tactics, Logan actually grins. It was all in good fun of course, but sometimes you had to help the kids beat the other teacher.

Now that Bobby is Bobby, he offered the man a nod of greeting as he states, "Don't work every time, but worked against you."

Looking between Laxmi and Bobby for a moment, he takes one more step toward the woman. "Have you two been introduced?"
Bobby Drake "Mixed results, I'd say," offers Bobby cheerfully. He looks towards Laxmi and then back to Logan, shaking his head. "I do not believe that we have." He looks to Laxmi again. "I'm Bobby Drake - and as you may have guessed, I'm the Iceman." Another grin. "I would offer to shake your hand, but you already seem horrible chilled."
Laxmi Mallick     "Laxmi Mallick," she offers in return, keeping one hand in her pocket - and the other hand on her suitcase. Her smile is friendly and open, and her demeanor relaxed as she offers, "I've been teaching music, mostly, and some dance instruction. Some of the students are really quite talented, it's been such a pleasure working with them and seeing their abilities grow. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Logan Logan doesn't look cold, then he never looks hot or bothered by the weather in most situations. Honestly, his resting grump face rarely shows that anything effects him... unless Laxmi is around.

"Laxmi, would you like to head inside where it's warmer? This weather isn't precisely what you're used to, and Bobby here can just..." a smirk. "melt. I can finish this," he gestures with the cigar. "Another time."
Bobby Drake "A pleasure to meet you. Great to hear that we have a good music instructor - I feel like things like that are too often overlooked." Bobby looks back to Logan and nods. "I know, we wouldn't want that to happen again."

One of the kids is trying to sneak up on Bobby, and much to his dismay a flick of the fingers sends a blast of snow up and into the kid, who drops the snowball before it can take flight.
Laxmi Mallick     "I'll admit, I wouldn't mind getting inside," Laxmi replies a bit wryly. "I think I have a genetic predisposition to //freezing to death,// and it would be such a shame if all the hot cocoa was gone by the time I got inside." She looks more amused by that notion than confused, however.
"I really wouldn't want to interrupt your cigar, though. I know how you enjoy them."
Logan Logan has been watching the kid, not fully on staring mind you, but it was someone moving in his general area so they were being watched. He figured Bobby would notice him, kids trained hard for years, and the result was amusing enough to make the older man half grin.

Taking one last puff from the cigar, he puts it out in the palm of his hand then tucks the remainder into his pocket. "I'm not one to watch a friend freeze," he comments. "And you look much like icicles should already be hanging off your nose. Let's go get you some of that cocoa and a place by the fire. Hey Bobby, does cocoa melt you?" Again, that smirk. Just a little poke at the kid.
Bobby Drake "Coco didn't, no, but her friend Cinnamon did." Bobby replies, as he turns to walk inside. "So this one time, Logan took us to the Diamond Cabaret. He said it had really good steaks, but really..." Bobby trails off, a grin on his face as he watches Logan.
Laxmi Mallick     Laxmi's cheeks were already darkened from the cold air - something which was difficult enough to see on her dark complexioned skin - so that was hardly any hint as to her reaction to Bobby's words. It's hardly necessary, however, as her features seem to freeze in place for a moment, before she hastily clears her throat, as she turns to lead the way in. "Do you boys want to get the cocoa while I get my things stowed in my room?" she suggests hastily, perhaps in a weak attempt to forestall anything else Bobby might say. "I can rejoin you in a moment!"
Logan Logan almost scowls, though his eyes do narrow. As Bobby's mouth runs off while heading for the door, Logan quickly scoops up a large handful of snow, balls it, and lobs it at the back of Bobby's head.

"That's a good idea," he offers to Laxmi, managing to keep the venom out of his tone. Bobby would get a moment of an earful soon, but she didn't deserve to have the ire aimed at her in any way. "I'll get them to make up the cocoa while you put your things in your room."
Bobby Drake "It was just a joke, just a joke. Sheesh." Bobby laughs a bit, and does not even duck the snowball from Logan. "He really has always been very respectful of the kids, all kidding aside, and always appropriate. Even the language. Mostly."

Another group of kids start to assemble a pile of snowballs. "I'll let you two get settled in...I have some advanced tactics to show off." The snow beneath his feet suddenly coalesces into something like a spring and it ejects him upward, much to the amazement of the kids. Until pelts them while in mid-air.
Laxmi Mallick     Laxmi takes her time, getting the key to her room, and putting her things away. It gives her time to try to dismiss any troubled thoughts that Bobby's ill-conceived words may have brought up. Eventually, though, she makes her way out to the resort's main sitting room - with a large window providing ample viewing of the snowy landscape outside, and a stone hearth with a cheerful fire burning away. She makes her way towards the fireplace, gloves tucked into her pockets as she holds her hands out towards the flames with a sigh of satisfaction. This was more //her// idea of a snowy retreat.
Logan While Laxmi was settling in, Logan had thrown one more snowball at Bobby then headed back inside. His coat was removed and laid over the back of a chair while he went to fetch the hot cocoa. He was pretty certain that her diet allowed for the really good stuff, make with real cocoa and milk, but the question of marshmallows or whipped cream played through his mind. With a nod, he got one of each. She could choose which one she wanted, and he would take the other.

Heading back into the main lobby, a large cup in each hand, he spots her by the fire and smiles. It just happens, a broad smile that he just lets happen, and then he is walking toward her.

"Got one of each kind," he comments, indicating the cups. "I love em both, so you get to choose your favorite." He was hoping what Bobby said was left in her room, but he was willing to face the consequences of his past if she asked.
Laxmi Mallick     "Oh, that's kind of you, Logan," Laxmi answers easily, pulling her hands back from the fire as she turns to face him. She takes the whipped cream without hesitation - as it was so rare that vegetarian marshmallows were offered. So few were even aware of the problem, to be honest. "This looks absolutely delicious."
She takes a seat on the edge of the stone hearth, letting her back feel the warmth of the fire as she sips at the cocoa, her gaze going to the window where she can see Bobby putting his powers to shameless use against the students. "Well it looks like the students are enjoying their break," she remarks with some amusement.
"What about you? Do you enjoy any winter sports?"
Logan The concept of vegetarian marshmallows never once crossed Logan's mind, but then he doesn't know a whole lot about the varies kinds of vegetarianism. Once she chooses, he smiles again and moves to the chair he put his coat on.

"I like ice skating," he offers without hesitation. "Don't mind skiing or sledding, bobsleds are great run but not many places have access to em. What about you? Any of em interest you or is it all too cold to bother with?"
Laxmi Mallick     "If I'm being honest," which Laxmi always seems to do, "I've only ever tried ice skating. There's a few places you can go for that in the city, but..." Not for any of the rest of them. "And with a big family, we never really went on many vacations - other than visiting India. I mean, understandably, considering how much it cost to fly us all out there..." She gives a small, shrug of her shoulders, then sips at her cocoa.
"I suppose I should give skiiing a try while I'm here. I wonder if I'll be any good at it?"
Logan Watching as the non-vegetarian marshmallows begin to melt, Logan looks back up to Laxmi as she is talking. She had a huge family, or so she had indicated to him. GOing anywhere with a family that size would be difficult and yet he was picturing a school bus filled with her family, heading off to some grand adventure even though she just said they didn't go places.

"Naturally graceful," he offers with a chuckle. "If you take the time to learn how to balance and move on skiis, you shouldn't have too much trouble... though I would suggest you get yourself one of those ski jumper outfits. Super warm."
Laxmi Mallick     "What I want to know is if they make them out of electric-blanket material - with a portable battery," Laxmi suggests with an amused smile on her lips. "Bring it back to your room and recharge it every day - ready for your next adventure. I mean, if it's not a thing yet... I may just have to Kickstart the idea."
She's probably not serious about that, though. After all - fashion design and electric gadgets hardly fit within her skill set.
Logan Logan actually laughs. Not one of those amused chuckles, or a short-laugh he's known for, a real laugh. He had thought she /really/ disliked cold and he was right.

"They got some electric enhanced suits," he offers with a broad smile, then takes a small sip of the cocoa. Not usually his thing, it was still good. "Got gloves and socks, think they got long johns as well. We can hook you up, have you draggin around a car battery just to keep warm."
Laxmi Mallick     "That's actually a thing?" Laxmi asks - sounding surprised. "I don't know that it's terribly practical if you have to drag a car battery around with you, though! A pity. I wonder when batteries will manage to really miniaturize. It feels like all other sorts of technilogy is progressing along those lines... but never batteries. What a shame." She smiles broadly at having amused him, however, as she takes another sip at her drink.
Logan He can't help it, he laughs even harder. The joke of the car battery had been taken seriously and he really hadn't meant it to be. Setting the cocoa on the coffee table between the chairs and couch, he reaches over to his coat to pull out his phone. While he's pulling up the battery operated warmers, he manages to get the laugh to stop, then offers her his phone to show her what he meant.

"They run on larger batteries, but not car batteries" he comments with that goofy grin he gets. "But they're a thing. Rechargeable as well."
Laxmi Mallick     Laxmi looks briefly embarassed as it becomes clear just how gullible she was being, but she's soon smiling, and laughing as well. She accept the phone, studying the screen before she remarks, "Heats for six hours on low... No bad. So long as low keeps you warm - but I imagine with a properly insulating outter layer to help trap the heat in..."
Logan She's offered a nod as Logan gets better control over himself. He hadn't meant to embarrass her, but it was funny, how could it not be? He could think of other ways to keep someone warm, but he wasn't going to suggest those no matter how nice they might be.

"That's the idea. Get yourself wired up, slap on one of those insulating jumpers, stand there looking warm and toasty while everyone else is freezing their butts of," he pauses. "'cept Bobby, he freezes all of his parts."
Laxmi Mallick     "Without feeling any of the effects of it. I'll admit to being a bit jealous," Laxmi remarks as she offers the phone back. "It's a bit of an expensive purchase, though, for something just for this week. I wonder if they rent them out at all...?" she muses in a thoughtful tone.
Or she could try reselling it afterwars, she supposes.
Logan Collecting the mug of cocoa again, Logan sits back in the chair and glances out the large window for a moment, just as a horde of the students go running by with what looks like buckets of snow. Why they need buckets of snow, or what they intend to do with them, he had no idea and really, doesn't care.

"It's a reusable thing," he finally says as he looks back. "Whether for a week a year, or... oh hell, I'll get you one. I prefer you're comfortable, and you never know when it might come in handy."
Laxmi Mallick     "Oh, I understand it's reuseable, but when else will I be somewhere this cold?" Laxmi asks.
"Though I suppose - if the school comes out here every years," she muses thoughtfully. "I don't want you to feel obligated, though, Logan. I can afford it." It just feels a bit like an extravagance.
"The cold doesn't bother you at all, though?"
Logan Logan shrugs slightly, "You never know where the world will take you. Sure, I know you can afford to get it if you want, but I also know it's not something you /need/ so you'll haggle it in your own head as to whether or not its worth it. Sides, I don't have much use for the money I have, and I like getting you things."

He does not that last comment linger too long before he switches topics and says, "Extreme temperatures can get to me, but I'm used to the cold. I grew up in this sort of weather," he gestures out the window as another group of kids go by with more buckets of snow. "Kind of prefer it, but super cold or hot effects me."
Laxmi Mallick     "I can handle hot fairly well. Much better than this, anyways. I presume that's more in the blood than my upbringing, though," Laxmi answers with an amused smile. She takes another sip of her cocoa, letting out a satisfied sigh.
"It really is perfect in here - though I'm starting to wonder if we should find out what they're doing with all those buckets. Surely... not anything too untoward?" she hazards in an uncertain voice.
Logan Logan turns slightly to look out the window, but since he can't really see much, he stands and walks over to the window to get a better look. "Well, whatever they're doing," he comments. "Can't see it from here. Can see they're off away from the lifts and such, so shouldn't bother anyone else, but I'm wondering if they decided to bury Bobby or something."
Laxmi Mallick     "Maybe they're trying to do one of those snow carvings?" Laxmi suggests. "I've seen pictures of them - they have them at festivals in very cold locations... They can be quite amazing." The pauses a moment to sip her cocoa before adding, "Though that might be giving them too much credit," she adds in an amused voice.
Logan Leaning closer to the window, Logan narrows his eyes slightly, acting like he can't see that far clearly. He could, but the details got too small to really tell what was going on, they were still crisp and clear, just small.

"Well then," he finally says. "I think I'll go find out what they're up to, just in case. You never know, they could be building a bomb of snow... some of these kids got creative powers. Most likely, they're attempting igloos or something like that."
Laxmi Mallick     "Well, whatever they're up to - I'm sure you can handle it," Laxmi says in amusement. "And give them tactical advice on how to make their plans even more devestating," she adds with a smile.
"Thank you for the cocoa, Logan. I'll bundle up a bit more warmly, and join you out there in a bit." She's going to put on enough layers that she'll have the rough shape of a snowman. That's her plan, anyways.
Logan Amazon Prime was a thing, by tomorrow Laxmi will have one of those battery powered, keep you warm outfits, delivered right to her hotel room. For now however, Logan slips his coat back on, adjusts the scarf around his neck and offers a nod. "I'll make sure to teach em where to hide the icicle bodies," he jokes. "Including Bobby, though he'll just wander off again."

He smiles again, watching the fire light reflect off her face for a moment, then turns to head toward the main doors. "Take your time, give us time to get more snow, and you to get nice and toasty."
