Alexander Aaron     Cold. The Winters in New York are always so damn cold. Even when the temperature isn't so bad, the wind always makes it that much more worse. The way the wind blows down those long streets without a break, becoming so fast that the chill makes people hunker down as they walk upon the sidewalks. If there's one thing that the young Olympian would change about the city...
    It would be the cold.
Though, of course, he wouldn't have as much reason to complain if he went inside. He didn't /have/ to stand outside with his falafel and eat it there. There were plenty of tables and places outside the lab where he could eat in peace. It's just chances are if he went in there he'd run into some of the other students and then he'd have to explain where he'd been for a good while and they'd ask questions and there'd be hurt feelings and...
Ugh, sometimes so hard to deal with mortals.
For now, however, he just made sure not to spill his falafel and kept munching on it outside on the stoop to the lab building, wearing his big replacement pea coat while around him people wandered up and down the steps.
Thea Queen > Look to my coming at first light of lunch.

That was the first message.

> Felicity made me watch Lord of the Rings with her at christmas....

Hence the quotes! But then another. > Anyway, I am in New York and inside ESU. It's damn cold, how can people stand this?

See, Starling is a lot warmer.
Alexander Aaron     The phone buzzed, humming softly as he withdrew it from his pocket. There was a moment as he pondered the display with a quirked eyebrow, then his lip twisted into a slight smirk. Shaking his head he takes another bite of falafel and chews while he slowly tapes out a reply with one thumb.
    << Good flicks. If you're a nerd. >>

Then a few minutes later, << Oh hey cool. I'm out front of the Garrison Lab. Did you bring food? >>

As he sends that second message he stops eating the falafel and starts to tuck it back into its wrapper, save it for later if Thea brought food.
Thea Queen > I am not a nerd. But you can't talk much since you seem like you just came out of Troy running alongside Brad Pitt.

There, shots fired. And it's true too!

> And do I seem the type that brings lunchies from home?

Because she's an heiress. They don't bring foods. Eventually she's seen making her way around the lab, body wrapped by a long, fur coat that goes down to her knees. She came prepared. On her hands are gloves and a stylish, fur hat is on her head, all the way to her ears while she approaches. A wave of her hand and then she finally closes in.

"There you are. And actually inside the uni too. Not bad."
Alexander Aaron     Those messages cause him to smile, a broad thing that captures the brightness in his eyes even as he taps a quick reply, << Maybe. I have some falafel if you want some! >>

But then he's tucking the phone away and looking around only to see what looks like a wild bear escaped from the zoo! Oh okay no, it's just Thea in her new coat. He grins and starts to walk down the steps moving toward her with that easy pace. He points at the wrapped falafel and asks, "Hey, did you want some?" And as he closes he leans in to touch a kiss to her lips, soft and greeting hello.
"Hey." He repeats, though this one is more gentle.
Then. "To what do I owe this pleasure, Miss Queen?"
Thea Queen Oh yes, Thea noticed Alexander looking at her new coat. "It's fabulous, isn't it?" she nearly preens, though does turn to her side in a model-like pose, eyes sparkling in amusement before she speaks up again. "But better than fabulous, it's fucking warm." there goes the glamour!

The kiss is returned, the woman resting one hand briefly on Alexander's shoulder before she takes the falafel, "And here I was thinking you'd take me somewhere fun. But falafel will do." she unwraps it, starting to go through it and looking around the place. "So this is ESU. Having fun here today?" a beat, "And oh, was in the city and just decided to come visit." shoulders raise in a shrug. "Maybe waiting to see if you will give me a tour or not."
Alexander Aaron     "That's true, and the most important bit ain't it?" It /does/ look super warm, super lovely. Even if it seems a bit heavy on the young woman's small frame. But his smile is clearly amused and impressed. "Well we can still go somewhere,"
Starting to walk he strolls along with her as she eats, and if she has the hand to spare he'll slip his into hers, "And yeah this is ESU. It's..." A furrow touches his brow as he looks off in the distance, "It's ok. Has a nice gym?" There, that's true.
    "Sure you want a tour?"
Thea Queen "Depends on who you ask. But I always look good no matter the drapes I am in so..." Well, someone is in a mood today apparently. Thea eradicates the falafel from existence after a few moments of focusing on it, free hand slipping with Alexander's. "A nice gym?" she arches a brow at that. "I got a gym at home, I don't need to pay tuition for that." she points out.

"I am sure you must know other places of interest? I thought this college world was super interesting, according to my sources..." she lets out a sigh, ".. Suppose I was right not coming to study here."

"And yep, a tour."
Alexander Aaron     "That's true," Admitting she tends to look good no matter what she wears. "But hey, it's like.. a /really/ nice gym. Gigantic. Wall climbing and a huge pool and... just lots of things."
Where they're walking now is the quad, that batch of grass and trees and benches and frozen fountains which have definitely been better considering all the snow and slush that's taken over a good bit of the area. It's like a park, but with more college students rushing hither and yon as they move. But it still has its charm as they stroll.
"So the whole place is sort of like a big square." He strolls along and motions with a nod, "Back where we were that way are the sciences, labs, and all the people who want grant money hang out there."
Then there's a nod ahead, "Over here is the arts department, where people go to embrace a future of unemployment unless they enter academia and continue the vicious trend." His lip twists up a little then his brow furrows.
"I think over yonder is the Olympic pool and that gym and training areas. They have a really nice fencing run, I should show it to you. You will be super jealous." He nibbles on his lower lip in thought.
"Why people come here, tough. Is the partying. Lots of clubs and bars around the campus edge."
Thea Queen Making that expression that she might be convinced about that gym Thea nods a couple of times. "Wall climbing, heh, it almost convinces me." she tells Alex, blue gazing being cast here and there while Alexander explains the layout and structure of the uni. Which she seems to be listening to! For now...

"The sciences? I knew you were the nerd here then." She states, squeezing his hand as they continue on. A look to the arts department. "That's harsh of you." a brow arching, "No respect for the arts? What about all the statues to your father?"

"So this is all a big party house then. Makes sense. But lets go see the fencing run then. It's too cold for me to be fencing though, so no ideas." she tells Alexander after noticing the lower lip nibbling.
Alexander Aaron     "Yeah sure, I'm the nerd, Frodo." Alexander offers in casual rejoinder to her as he continues to walk along, but the squeeze he gives her back is a gentle thing, letting her know he doesn't /really/ think she's a Frodo. More a Legolas really.
But then she hassles him a little about the Arts and he makes a face, "I like them just fine, and I probably will end up making something..." He lifts a hand gesturing in that direction, "In that sort of area of things my major. But it is kinda rough. If I didn't have other stuff to fall back on I'd prolly be a business major."
That said he bobs his head when she suggests the place is a party house and murmurs, "It really kinda is. Columbia is where people go for real 'book larnin' and all." He looks back at her and smiles, "Ok c'mon, let's mosey over to the gym."
Though as they do so they're passing by the line of food trucks, "You wanna grab something to take the edge off before we head that way though?" He gestures with a nod.
Thea Queen "Frodo? I am short, is it?" Well, Thea sorta is. Depending on who you ask. "Well, you can be Sam then." there, now they are hobbits. She lets out a chuckle and then they are continuing along, she casting a glance at the art buildings. "Something in that area of things... You don't sound neither enthused nor sure on what you want out of it. Why arts if you have such a low opinion on them?" she questions. "Or rather, you don't seem to have any specific interest on it." she points out.

"And so I was right, this is the party university. Figures. I mean, if I was younger I would be real eager to come study in a place like this. But not anymore." Because she isn't a party animal anymore!

Yet with it being time to go to the gym she grins, "Hopefully there won't be cheerleading tryouts going on. So you won't be tempted to go." see? She remembers the tale. A shake of her head is the answer about food.

"Falafel is enough. How do you think I keep so slim?"
Alexander Aaron     "I've always felt like, the idea of an academy of learning should be to become the most robust sort of person? I like the idea of being... a renaissance man, right?" Alexander answers her as he walks about the possibility of that being where he hangs his shingle. He takes a deep breath and murmurs, "I want to learn a lot of things, about everything. Philosophy, the great works, art, history beyond my own little familial connection to it."
Alex squeezes her hand and adds, "Just... all the things." He grins.
Then his head bobs, "But yes, this is a party college. Fo sho." His smile is wry, but when she digs out the /story/ he told her and proves she was actually listening to him?! He laughs and slips his arm around her shoulder. "If there are, you get to try out instead. Ok? Ok."
