Hobgoblin Its a crisp but sunny winter day in New York city people are going about their days. Little do they know The Hobgoblin has chosen this day for his true coming out party. After many soft launches to test gear and the goblin formula He's finally ready to sow chaos and mayhem across the city.

Flying by on his glider, the Hobgoblin gleefully starts haphazardly throwing pumpkin bomb at civilians and shops of the Fashion district. Cackling as he goes.
Courtney Whitmore Out for a casual day of shopping, Courtney looks up as she hears the screaming and the chaos from outside of the store. "Oh no, trouble!" She hands the dress she was holding to the baffled saleswoman as she dashes into a fitting room. After a few moments, out leaps the Star Spangled Kid!

Dashing out of the store, the Star Spangled Kid quickly surveys the scene, searching out the evil-doer.
Hobgoblin Astride a gun metal grey Glider shaped lika horned bat-monster, The Hobgoblin is there cloaked in an orange hood with scale armor and and a re-colored green goblin suit underneath it. He's about to toss out another volley of bombs but he notices a garishly dressed blond with a golden staff.

"Not who I was hoping for but she'll do for now" He then grabs a couple of razorbats and flings them at the Star spangled kid.
Courtney Whitmore "What the hell is -- " The Star Spangled Girl seems entranced for a moment by the appearance of the Hobgoblin, but that ends quickly as she sees the razorbats flying at her. She is not quite sure what they are, but is confident that they mean no good, and so she flips backwards to avoid most of the volley.

"Ahhh fuck!" she cries out as one razor back catches her just above the knee, slicing into flesh and drawing forth a line of blood. Superficial wound, but not pleasant to say the least. She hits the ground with the shock, and then mutters as she picks herself up, a hand moving to adjust the large round circle of her belt buckle. A soft hum as an energy field briefly appears around her. Rookie mistake, forgetting to turn on her shield before engaging. She looks up to try to spot the Hobgoblin, who most assuredly has used her moment of distraction to move out of her field of vision.
Hobgoblin The Goblin watches the girl move. "Who are you meant to be? or Are you just a fan girl, from the looks of it, you're a captain america girl. Lets see now show me what you've got."

The Hobgoblin jumps down from his glider with a flurish and a another volley of razor bats. "fight me or I'll make sure you're never pretty again."
Courtney Whitmore Despite taking on an injury and seemingly outmatched, there is no surrender from the Star Spangled Kid. "Why don't you come on down here and I'll show you what I've got!" she challenges up at him.

He, of course, immediately accepts that, dropping down and hurling more razor bats at her. Not quite having expected to get what she wanted, nonetheless she is prepared and charges at him. This time, she is able to flip around the angle of those bats, picking up momentum such that when she vaults herself up from her feet she is able to deliver a potent right hook to the Hobgoblin's face.
Hobgoblin Hobgoblin absorbs the punch and begins to cackle maniacly. "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH HA HA HA, ....Is that really your best shot? I thought you had something for me. Well I guess today is going be the worse day of your life." Hobgoblin grands her wrist and violently pulls her into a headbutt.
.oO(I wanted a fight today but I guess i'll just have to settle for destroying something pretty instead. but what is this girl's deal she doesn't seem to have any powers to speak of.) "You really picked the wrong day to play dress up little girl."
Courtney Whitmore Able to absorb the impact to her head without damage, the Star Spangled Kid is not able to absorb the momentum of the blow, and she falls backwards without having the resilience or leverage to withstand the blow. As she hits the concrete the wind is knocked out of her, and she grunts as the air vacates. She is stunned, but trying to summon the wherewithal to at least roll out of the way of any potential follow-up.
Hobgoblin Hobgoblin casually rolls a pumpkin bomb at The star spangled kid. "if you have a special talent you're hiding you had better use it now. or you're dead."

The Hobgoblin smells blood literally and figuratively. "Did you really buy some spandex put some stars on it and decide you could fight crime?" He flings out some more razor bats. "there isn't anything special about you at all is there?"
Courtney Whitmore She is too new to this to really perceive the tactics here. She sees the pumpkin bomb and moves to dodge it, but is distracted by the razor bats. She successfully twists to avoid each of those, but and thought she had avoided the bomb. But she lost track of it after her dodge, and while the energy shield absorbes the blast of the detonating bomb, it does nothing to ward off the concussive force of it. Her light body is flung several feet in the air and she crashes back into a nearby parked car with a sickening thud, dropping down into nearly a pile in front of it. "Uhhhh," is all she manages, as her ears are ringing and the breath has been forced from her body.
Hobgoblin "Look at this destruction you could stop none of it. you're nothing but an average girl." HE says before firing a blast from his zap gloves. Hobgoblin then charges hin grabs the girl by the neck. Dragging her by the neck he gets back on his glider and flies off into the air with her still in his grasp.

"Look at me child. I could have killed you at any time. I could have blown you up. I could have dropped you from this high up I could have snapped you weak little neck with my hands. You survive only because I let you. You're nothing you're not meant for this. Go home and never try this again and live everyday knowing I could have ended you and still might." The Hobgoblin squeezes on her neck to the point where she could honestly fear for her life. and then the Hobgoblin tosses her on to a near by rooftop still alive if not unharmed. The Hobgoblin cackles as he flies away.
Courtney Whitmore There is a complete look of fright in the girl's eyes, even as she struggles to keep them open, as the Hobgoblin carries her up. As he tosses her down to the rooftop, she grunts from the contact, rolling up to a stop as she simply lies there, trying to get up. As she hears him fly away, she fights no longer to stay awake.
